Jones, Harold Joe

Harold Joe Jones, age 72, of Dardanelle, died Thursday, October 21, 2010 at his home. He was born April 22, 1938, at Ball Hill to Robert Lee and Martha Cindy Lou Wilson Jones. He was the owner of Jones Salvage, where he worked as a mechanic for many years, he was a line man and a member of the 247 Community Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his former wife, Etta Lorene Jones; 18 children and their spouses, 49 grandchildren, 31 great-grand- children and other relatives and friends.

Burial was private in Ball Hill Cemetery at Russellville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to Main Street Mission, 1110 E. Second St., Russellville, AR 72801. Jones, Hazel B.

Hazel B. Jones of Benton, AR died Tuesday, March 10, 1998 at the age of 83. She was a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ for 50 years and was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Benton. She was born and raised in the Kingston Community, Yell County, Arkansas.

She is survived by her husband, Alton Jones of Benton; a daughter and son-in-law, Janella and Marshall Marin of Etoile, TX; two brothers, Wayne Coats of Little Rock and Walter Coats of Longview, TX; a sister, Loretta Bower of Phoenix, AZ; two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Carmen and Rodney Darneal of Houston, TX and Maria and Chris Adkins of Duncanville; and four great-grandchildren, Heather and Crystal Darneal of Houston, TX and Bethany and Josiah Adkins of Duncanville.

Henry Clester (Buck) Jones, age 53, of Dumas died at Booneville on June 10, 1954. He was born at Gravelly and lived there until 1946, when he moved to Dumas. He was married to Miss Velma Kitchens in 1923. He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two sons, Rev. Charley Jones and Donal Ray Jones, both of Dumas; five daughters, Mrs. Thelma Lee Morin of Caribou, Maine, Mrs. Bertha Fay McCuin, Mrs. Thula Mae Nickolson, Mrs. Wanda Ann Cotrell and Miss Mary Jones, all of Dumas; 13 grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters. Jones, Herbert Lee, Jr.

SUBIACO - Herbert Lee Jones Jr., 47, of Subiaco died Tuesday, October 25, 2011, in Yell County. He was born August 11, 1964, in Ozark. He worked for C&M Stone Co. in Knoxville and was of the Assembly of God faith.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Horne Cemetery in Midway under the direction of Brotherton Brothers Funeral Home in Paris.

He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Jones of Hattiesburg, Miss.; a son, Herbert Jones III of Hattiesburg; his mother and stepfather, Barbara and Tommy McGhee of Rudy; two sisters, Candy Jones of Midway and Staci Nichols of Kibler; four brothers, Bobby Jones of Midway, Tracey Jones of Rudy, Ivo Jones of Conway and Dwight Jones of Dardanelle; and two grandchildren. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Herman J. Jones, age 65, formerly of Dardanelle, died November 29, 1980 in a Jacksonville hospital.

Survivors are his wife, Twila; one daughter, Linda, and one son, Gary, both of the home; four brothers, Charlie, Ada, Okla., Sam, Centerville, and Winfred and Floyd Jones, Dardanelle; five sisters, Vetrece Reece, Kingston, Okla., Anna Lee Carlson and Virginia Simpson, California, Louise Eddings, Illinois, and Margaret Freeman, Dover.

Jones, I. W.

Man Killed As Brakes Fail - I. W. Jones, 50, of Danville was killed instantly last Friday when he jumped from the truck as it over turned. Jones and his son, Billy, about 15, were coming down Danville Mountain with a load of pulpwood when the brakes on the truck failed. The boy jumped out about "horseshoe bend" and was not hurt. Jones stayed with the truck and apparently tried to slow it with the gears. The truck ran off the road at Loyd's Liquefied storage plant and Jones jumped just as the truck crossed the ditch, landing on a stony embankment. Jones, Ingabee (Sandy) (Mrs.)

Mrs. Ingabee Jones, 69, Plainview, died May 15 at her home and was buried in Salem cemetery by the side of her husband.

Jones, Iva J.

Iva J. Jones, age 98, of Dardanelle, AR died Friday, November 29, 2002 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born May 9, 1904 in Dardanelle to James Foster and Ina Gertrude Rackley Carper. She was a businesswoman, who ran a service station and tourist court with her late husband, Ernest Odell Jones. She was a member of the Dardanelle First United Methodist Church.

She was also preceded in death by a brother Bill Carper and a sister, Mary Pratt.

She is survived by two nieces, Lorene Smalley of Little Rock, AR and Freda Winton of Lake San Marcos, CA and a sister-in-law, Mildred Pockrus of Dardanelle, AR.

Jones, J. D.

J. D. Jones, age 73, a 44 year old resident of Albuquerque, died Sunday October 14, 2001 after a long battle with cancer. He was born in Amarillo, TX and raised in Carlsbad, NM. After graduating from Carlsbad High School in 1945, J. D. served as paratrooper in the U. S. Army. He was stationed in Japan after the end of WWII. J. D. married his wife, Catherine Pledger in 1953. Both worked for Zia Company in Los Alamos until 1957, when he accepted employment with Sandia National Laboratory. He retired after 35 years in 1992. J. D. was an active member of the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church

Survivors include his wife, Catherine; daughters, Leslie Diane van der Heide and husband, Wim of the Netherlands, Carol Ann Dickey and husband, Bill of Corrales, NM; and son, Brian Ansley Jones of Oakland, CA; four grandchildren, J. D. Kelly, Michael Dickey, Alexander and Marco van der Heide.

A memorial service for J. D. was held on Tuesday October 23, 2001 at 7:00 p. m. at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 5301 Ponderosa Ave. NE. Jones, J. Neal

Two Men Drown in Muddy Creek The bodies of J. Brun Johnson and J. Neal Jones, both of Fort Smith, were recovered from the swollen waters of Muddy Creek one mile east of Story Wednesday. Buford Nichols of Story noticed that the railing of the bridge over the creek was torn away and saw tracks leading directly into the water about 6:30 a.m., and reported his findings to the sheriff's office in Mount Ida. A team of skin divers from Hot Springs, Neland Hignight, Ed Johnson, and Rody Wilson, were called and located the car completely submerged. The creek was swollen by over five inches of rain during the 1st 24 hours. Johnson's body was found approximately 1/4 mile below the car, a 1965 Chrysler. Jones, J. O.

J. O. Jones was born in Sherman, Texas March 10th, 1877 and died July 19, 1950 at the age of 77 years. He had been surveyor of Yell county for years before moving to Little Rock where he was County surveyor of Pulaski County for years and was candidate for reelection in August 8 primary. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church at his death, a member of Trinity Masonic Lodge and past Grand Patron of order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Rose Jones, a son, J. O, Jr. of Falfurrie, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Merrial Quinn, Shreveport, La., Mrs. William Boles, Little Rock; two brothers, J. H. Jones, Cleveland, Ohio and Paul E. Jones of New York city, N. Y.; three sisters, Mrs. Francis Sharrock, Conway, Mrs. Grace Speights, Ola, Rt. L. and three grandchildren.

Jones, James Woody

James Woody Jones, 17, of near Danville was killed in an auto accident at Vegas, Texas last Saturday. He was hitchhiking back to Danville, where he was a student at Danville High School. It was reported that another hitchhiker riding in the car with Jones was also killed in the wreck, but the drivers of both cars escaped without serious injuries.

Mr. John William Jones was born January 8, 1803, and departed this life, August 27, 1941, at the age of 78. He was united in marriage to Miss Mattie Vinset, I887. To this union were born eight children, of which four survive his departure. Mrs. Lizzie Grist and Amos Jones, Havana, Mrs. Gracie Webb and Arthur Jones, Dallas, Texas. DARDANELLE - Joseph Thurman Jones, age 71, of Burlington, Okla. a former resident of Yell County, died Thursday, October 31, 1985, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center at Wichita, Kan. He was a retired mechanic and a veteran of World War II.

Joseph William Jones, age 58 of Searcy, Arkansas died Monday, July 6, 2009 at his home. He was born July 15, 1950 in Russellville, AR to the late Joseph Thurman and Edna May Coffey Jones. Mrs. Judy Ann Jones, age 49, of Centerville, AR died Thursday at University of Arkansas Medical Center. She was born September 12, 1950 in Russellville, AR to the late Sam and Anna Lou Walker Jones. She was a mother, homemaker and member of the Mt. George Church of Christ.

Lavada B. Jones, 91, of Booneville, AR died May 10, 2005. She was born in Proctor, Texas and was a beautician for over thirty years. Her church membership was Church of Christ.

Lorene Jones, age 81 of Belleville, died Saturday, April 12, 2003 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born August 8, 1921 is Appleton, Arkansas to the late Dennis and Mae Beanblossom Benedict. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the Ranger Freewill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Levoy Benedict and a sister, Doris McBride.

Louise Jones, age 93 of Harvey, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at Mitchells Nursing Home. She was born June 27, 1916 to Lillie Wilson and Edgar King in Gravelly, AR. She was a resident of Mitchells Nursing Home, a member of Mulberry Free Will Baptist Church in Gravelly, where she served as church clerk and Sunday School teacher, was a member of Gravelly Chapter 580 Order of the Eastern Star, serving two terms as Worthy Matron. She was active in school activities, a farmers wife, and caregiver to her Mother and Father-in-law Sidney and Jessie Jones for the last five years of their lives.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 66 years, Oragel Jones; brothers and wives, Odell and Mildred King, Robert and Nellie King, Leo and Charlene King; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ethel and Jess Kitchens, Nadine and Robert Hidde, and Lula King; nephews, Charles Kitchens, Crawford Kitchens, Tommy Hunt, Larry Hunt, and Floyd Cramer.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Carl Wayne and Bambi Jones; grandsons and wives, Jody and Susan Jones, Ricky and Marsha Jones; great-grandchildren, Trent, Holley, and Trevor Jones and Jeremy Beshears and new baby due in December, all of Gravelly; brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Clara King of Fort Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Leah ad Rex Hunt of Grass Valley, CA; nieces, Betty and Ceril Schneider of Hackett, Mary Cramer of Tennessee, Mary Joe King Gossage of Texas, Johnny King, Bobby and Vickie Hidde, Andrew Grimm of Tulsa, Kenneth and Jan Hunt of California, and Terry and Paula Max Hunt of Michigan.

Loyce Curtis Jones, Sr. age 89, of Waveland, AR died Saturday, January 8, 2000 in a San Antonio, TX hospital. He was a retired farmer and career Civil Service worker at Tinker Field AFB, Oklahoma City. He was a past deacon and member of the First Baptist Church in Magazine, AR.

Marilyn Sue Jones, age 32 of Belleville died Sunday, January 22, 2006 with her son at her home. She was born November 20, 1974 at Dardanelle to Stanley and Mary Jane Lewallen Warren.

She is preceded in death by her father, Stanley Warren.

Survivors include her husband, William "Bill" Leon Jones of Belleville; two daughters, Brittany Nicole Jones, Billie Breanna Marie Jones, both of Dardanelle; brother, Bruce Warren of Dardanelle; sister, Becky So wards of Hector; father and mother-in-law, Ray and Mary Jones of Dardanelle.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 26, 2006, 2:00 p. m. at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with Walter A. Gorman officiating. Jones, Martha Evelyn Howell

Mrs. Martha Evelyn Howell Jones, age 96 of Dardanelles, AR died Saturday, October 2, 1999 at her home in Dardanelle. She was born July 15, 1903 in Dardanelle, AR to the late Haynes A. and Martha Garretson Ho well. She was co-owner of Garret Jones Implement Company with her late husband, Garrett Jones. They were among the founders of the Bank of Dardanelle and she served as director and then honorary director until her death. She was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Dardanelle, member of the United Methodist women, DAR, Dardanelle Chamber of Commerce, Dardanelle Business and Professional Women's Club and was voted Jaycette Woman of the Year in 1964.

Survivors include five nephews, Judge William R. Bullock and A. B. Cox both of Dardanelle, AR, Thomas L. Bullock of Little Rock, AR, Robert Sly of Fayetteville, AR and David Howell of Okmulgee, OK; three nieces, Mary Croom Gordon of Fairfield Bay, AR, Virginia Sargent of Dallas, TX and Mary Gale Barnes of Houston, TX.

Martha Lou Leach Jones, age 74, of Morrilton, AR died Sunday, June 29, 2003. She was born September 25, 1928 in Plainview, AR a daughter of the late B. A. Leach and Ola Breashears Leach. She was the widow of Virgil Jones and of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Stacy Ann Eldridge; three brothers, Hanford, Odell and Thurston Leach and two sisters, Hazel Marcum and Mildred Leach.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Glenda Eldridge of Jonesboro, David and Debbie Eldridge of Morrilton, Bruce and Sarah Jones of Morrilton and Gerald Eldridge of Morrilton; daughter, Karen Newcomb of Morrilton; sisters, Imogene Bridges of Little Rock and Ernestine Barry of Morrilton; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be today, July 2, at 10 a. m. at the Harris Chapel with Dr. Bill Brown officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Neely F. (Bob) Jones, age 81, of Dardanelle died Monday, October 20, 1986 at Legacy Lodge Nursing Home in Russellville. He was a native of Centerville, a retired Uniroyal Employee, W. W. II Veteran, the son of the late Julian and Margaret George Jones.

Jones, Norman Ray

Norman Ray Jones, age 88, of Belleville (Ranger community) passed thru the Pearly Gates of Heaven, Monday, July 9, 2007 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born June 18, 1919 in TX to the late Horace & Corra Jones from Alamogordo, NM. He was a Disabled American Veteran. He proudly served his country as a young, man. He served in the 142nd Inf. 36th Divison in WWII, in Italy, France and Germany. He received the American Theater Campaign Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He retired from the US Army Corps of Engineers at the Dardanelle Lock and Dam. He lived in the Ranger Community where he enjoyed his family and his cattle farm. He and his wife were active in the Ranger Church and Ray served as a Deacon there for many years.

He is preceded in death by his darling wife of 57 years, Lorene Benedict Jones; brothers, Cecil and Deanie Jones and a sister; Pearl Makinson.

Survived by his blessed, loving family, daughters & sons-in-law; Judy & Wayne Underwood of Ranger, Jean & Lee Ratliff of Westcliff, CO, Kathy & Jackie Woodard of Central City, AR and Debbie & Corky McConnell of Ranger; son & daughter-in-law, Norman & Leslie Jones of Ranger; 10 grandchildren; 10 Great-Grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Jones and Royce Jones of Alamogordo NM.; three sisters; Leon Russell of Alamogordo NM., Dorothy Benedict of Ola, Ruby Smith of Houston, TX.
