Mrs. Joe W. Shott, age 51, formerly Miss Nancy Nelms, died Saturday in her home in Waveland.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Troy Hood, Belleville; Bill Benny and Miss Wanda Shott, Waveland; three sons, Norman and, Edward of Waveland, Billy Joe of the Air Force; her mother, Mrs. Millie Nelms; eight brothers, George Nelms in Kansas, Orville Nelms, Waveland, Newt Nelms, Ft. Shott, Shirley Sherman

Mr. Shirley Sherman Shott, of Havana, AR died Friday, July 24, 1998 at his home. He was born December 27, 1925 in Waveland, AR to the late Lester and Cora Biggs Shott. He was a WWII Army Veteran, carpenter, poultry and cattle farmer and a member of the Havana Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Ellis Shott.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Maxine Shott; a son and daughter-in-law, Rickey Allen and Linda Shott of Dardanelle, AR; one sister, Euna Cherry of Ft. Smith; three grandchildren, Christy Mobley of Russellville, Thomas Shott and Sarah Shott both of Dardanelle.

Service was July 26, 1998 at the Havana Assembly of God Church with Rev. E. O. Tackett and John McCourt officiating. Interment was in the Havana Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville, AR. Pallbearers were Lawrence Turner, Melvin McCourt, Charles Wilkins, Tommy Fink, R. C. Burrows and Dump Kennedy. Shott, Wesley E.

Funeral services for Wesley E. Shott, age 26, of Havana, whose body was returned from overseas for re-burial, were conducted at the National Cemetery in Ft. Smith on July 21 by the Chaplain and with the assistance of Rev. George Findley of Havana. He was wounded on March 19, 1945 while serving with an Infantry Division on Luzon and died on March 24. He was the graduate of Havana high School.

Shull, Kimberly Diane

Kimberly Diane Shull, age 30, of Waldron, AR died Sunday, July 4, 1999 at the Waldron Hospital. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Leroy and Monette Morgan and Troxie Taylor.

She is survived by her husband, Doug Shull of the home; one daughter, Rande Hale of Mt. Moriah, AR; one son, Kevin Hale of Mt. Moriah, AR; one step daughter, Kathryn Shull of Fort Smith, AR; one step son, Seth Shull of Fort Smith, AR; her parents, Thomas and Kaye Taylor of Blue Ball, AR; grandmother, Rachel Taylor of Waldron, AR; two sisters, Cheryl Woodrum and Kristy Pollard both of Blue Ball, AR and a very special niece, Whitney Woodrum of Blue Ball, AR.

Funeral service was July 7, 1999 at Egypt Baptist Church with burial at Union Hill Cemetery, Union Hill, AR under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of Waldron, AR. Sides, Effie Lee

Mrs. Effie Lee Sides, age 88, a resident of Dexter, MO died January 27, 1978 at Poplar Bluff Hospital in Poplar Bluff, MO. Mrs. Sides was born October 17, 1889 near Belleville. She was married to Grover Sides May 7, 1905. He died in April, 1971. She united with the Methodist Church at an early age and was a member of Essex, MO Methodist Church.

Survivors are five daughters, Mary King of Belleville, Irene McCarrell of Little Bock, Inez Bannesar and Mozel Templeton of Conway and Dorothy Sue Joseph of Dexter, MO; four sons, Ezra Sides, Greenfield, IL, John W. Sides, Conway, Jack Sides of Bowling Green, KY and Kent Sides of Dexter, MO; two brothers, Ray Payne of Rives, MO, Mahon Payne of Booneville; three sisters, Vernie White of Havana, Katy James of Dardanelle and Lula Smith of Paris, AR; 29 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.

Services were held Sunday, January 29, in Watkins and Son Funeral Chapel in Dexter. Rev. Doyle Burke, pastor of Essex Methodist Church officiated. Pallbearers were grandsons, Gary, Dean, Larry and Dale Sides, Leo Wilcox and Terry Joseph. Burial was in Triplett Cemetery in the community she had lived the last 35 years. Funeral services for George L. Sides, age 86, of Kennett, MO were conducted October 18, 1995 at the McDaniel Chapel with the Revs. Zach Parr and Louie Cordell officiating. Burial was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery.

The son of the late Nelson Gideon and Mary Noblet Sides, he was born November 30, 1908 in Danville, AR. On December 24, 1933 he was married to Claris Brand. He died October 15, 1995 at the NHC Health Care Center in Kennett, MO.

Survivors include: his wife, Claris Sides of Kennett; one son, George Arther Sides, East Peoria, IL; three daughters, Myrtle Todd of Jackson, TN, Beatrice Sides and Alta Jackson both of Kennett; one brother, Delton Sides of Taos, NM; one sister, Claudia Elmore, Spring, TX; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Sides, Grover Cleveland

Grover Cleveland Sides, the son of the late Scott and Mary Ellen Walker Sides was born December 24, 1884 at Belleville and succumbed April 20, 1971 at the Popular Bluff Hospital in Popular Bluff, Mo. at the age of 86. Mr. Sides has been a resident of Stoddard County since 1942. He was a member of the Essex Masonic Lodge and had been a Mason for over 50 years. He was a member of the Lower Spring Creek Church in Belleville and was active in the church until ill health forced him to retire. On May 7, 1905 he was married to Effie Lee Payne at Belleville.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Effie Lee Sides of Route 2, Dexter Mo.; five daughter, Mrs. Clifford King of Belleville, Mrs. Oral McCarroll of Little Rock, Mrs. Dewey Bonnesar of Montebelo, Calif., Mrs. Leo Wilcox of Conway and Mrs. John Joseph of Parma, Mo.; four sons, Ezra W. Sides of Hettick, Ill., John W. Sides of Conway, R. J, Sides of Bowling Green, Ky., and Bobby Sides of Dexter. Three daughters preceded him in death. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren. and 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 23, at 1:30 p.m. in the Watkins and Sons Chapel with Rev. Doyle Corlew of Essex. Full Masonic Services were conducted by the Essex Masonic Lodge No. 278. Sides, Ira E.

Ira E. Sides, a lifelong resident of Danville, died Friday, December 13, 1990 in Little Rock. He was born September 15, 1902 in the Moss Creek Community in Yell County, son of the late G.M. (Sam) and Pearlie Herring Sides. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the North African Campaign. He was a Methodist and had served on the Board of Stewarts at the Danville Methodist Church. He had worked on the Yell County Equalization Board and served on the ASCS Advisory Council. He was a retired farmer and was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Mathis Sides and three brothers.

He is survived by several cousins.

Funeral services were Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Danville with Rev. Bobby Walker, Chaplain Howard Cox and Elder Luther Riddle officiating. Burial was in Earl Ladd Memorial Cemetery in Danville, AR. Arrangements and services by Cornwell Funeral Home. Sides, Martha Mathis

Mrs. Martha Mathis Sides, age 78, of Danville died Sunday evening, March 16, 1980 at the St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. Mrs. Sides was a native of Briggsville, a retired school teacher, and the daughter of the late Thomas Hardy and Rebecca Jane Smith Mathis.

Survivors include her husband, Ira E. Sides; one brother, Bob Mathis of Mesa, Arizona; six sisters, Mrs. Pearl Carpenter of Bluffton, Mrs. Vera English of Plainview, Mrs. Ila Reece of Hot Springs, Mrs. Johnnye Scifres of Terrell, Mrs. Ester Hunnicutt of Hot Springs, and Mrs. Atha Dell Hedden of Russellville.

Funeral services were held at the Danville United Methodist Church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Interment was at the Earl Ladd Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Robert C. Sides, age 76, of Danville, AR, died Sunday, February I5, 1987 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. He was a native of Hodges, OK, son of the late Nelson G. and Mary M. Noblett Sides. He was a retired employee of the City of Tulsa, Veteran of the Navy in World War II and a member of the Ranger Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene May Sides of the home; four sons, Johnny Sides of Danville, Robert E. Sides of Long View, TX, Jimmie Sides of Jackson, CA, and Virgile Sides of Kent, Washington; two daughters, Loretta Downs of Woodward, OK, and Linda Davis of Coweta, OK; three brothers, George Sides from Missouri, Joseph Sides of Tulsa and Delton Sides of New Mexico; two sisters, Mrs. Claudia Elmore of Tulsa and Pernia Douthitt of California. Also 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 17,1987 at the Ranger Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Earl Stapleton and Rev. Connie Ceriker officiating. Robert Eugene "Gene" Sides, age 65 of Hallsville, Texas, died Monday, October 25, 2004 at Good Shepard Medical Center. He was an Industrial Mechanic, employed by Halliburton for 23 years. He was a teacher and a member of the Ranger Free Will Baptist Church and a member of the Captain John Yancy Marie Corp. League.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Willa Dean Warren Sides of Hallsville, TX; two sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Lorrie Sides of Highland Village, TX, Michael and Lisa Sides of Hallsville, TX; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Darrell Copsey of Corsicana, TX, Pamela and Richard Nelson of Hallsville, TX; a brother, John Sides of Danville and six grandchildren.

Sigle, Meda Hazel Thomas

Mrs. Meda Hazel Thomas Sigle, age 87 of Dardanelle, AR, widow of Verne Sigle, died Sunday, November 28, 1999 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born March 25, 1912 in Oney, OK to the late George and Artie Anna Hamilton Thomas. She was a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ for 39 years and attended the Ard Church of Christ before moving her membership to Dardanelle and was a teacher with the World Bible School. She was a homemaker and mother.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sony a Sigle.

Survivors are, three sons, Jack Sigle of Alexander, AR, Terry Sigle and Lynn Sigle both of Dardanelle, AR; one daughter, Sharon Clark of Elkins, AR; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside service was November 30, 1999 at the Brearley Cemetery by Bro. Ralph Weinhold. Services under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle, AR. Sikes, Ruby Carrouth

Ruby Carrouth Sikes, age 77, of Del City, OK was called to her Heavenly home on Friday, April 11, 2003. She was born June 4, 1925 in Macedonia, AR to Johnnie R. and Fannie Mae Carrouth. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and after retirement was active in the Pioneer Organization. Ruby was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed her walks in the mall. She was also a long-time, faithful member of First Southern Baptist Church of Del City.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Leroy, of the home; 1 son, John Sikes and his wife Linda of Oklahoma City; 3 grandchildren Jon Brian, Garret, and Landon Sikes; one half-sister Alma Taylor of Norman, OK; one nephew, Gary Garner; two nieces Sharee Gorman and Glynelle Pool, all of Danville, AR, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 1 son, Paul Sikes; 1 brother, Laudel Carrouth; 1 sister, Helen Garner; 4 half-brothers; and, 4 half-sisters. Ruby will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and faithful servant of Christ.

Cecil Dewey Sills, Jr. died Friday, August 10, 2007. Born January 13, 1942, in Dardanelle, he was the son of the late Cecil D. Sr. and Moreo Johnston Sills. He was the owner of Circle S Filters in Dardanelle for over 15 years, a member of the Dardanelle Missionary Baptist Church and a Mason with the Bright Star Lodge #213.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Anna Mae Sills; three daughters and sons-in-law, Summer and Chuck Trusty of Lorena, Texas, Amy and Gerald Beene of Dardanelle, Stacey and Kevin Hottinger of Dardanelle; a brother, Jerry Sills of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren, Haley and Sarah Trusty, Caleb Beene, Hunter and Greyson Hottinger; and numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 13, 2007 at 10:00 a. m. at the Dardanelle Missionary Baptist Church with Tom McElmurry and Chuck Trusty officiating. Interment was held at Durvin Cemetery, Dardanelle under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle. Winnie B. Sills, 79, of Danville, Arkansas passed from this life Wednesday, March 31, 2010 in a Danville, Arkansas nursing home. She was born September 25, 1930 in Oklahoma to the late Rufus and Ester (Maddox) Banister. She was a retired bookkeeper, a member of the 1st Assembly of God in Plainview, Texas and Order of the Eastern Star in Plainview, Texas. Winnie is survived by one son, Ricky B. Sills and wife, Tori of Yukon, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Kayla and Casey Sills both of Yukon, Oklahoma; one sister, Shirley Limbocker of Danville, Arkansas; one niece, Glenda Limbocker Vaughn of Danville, Arkansas; two nephews, Wendell Limbocker of Danville, Arkansas, Wink Banister of Lubbock, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her brother, Floyd Banister.

Winnie's funeral service was held on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Egypt Free Will Baptist Church in Blue Ball, Arkansas with Rev. Earnest Lambert and Rev. Jackie Allen, officiating. Interment followed in the Moore Memorial Garden in Arlington, Texas on Monday, April 5, 2010. Arrangements are being entrusted to Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas. Simmons, Thelma Sue

Thelma Sue Simmons, age 93 of Russellville died Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born September 19, 1910, in Dardanelle to the late W. P. and Laura (Baker) Dunn. She was a businesswoman and operated a grocery store in Dardanelle with her late husband, Fay Simmons for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Fay Simmons.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue Peters of Little Rock, a sister and brother-in-law, Marie and J. C. Kifer of Russellville, 3 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandsons.

Funeral service was held July 9, 2004 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. Christy Newton officiating. Interment was at Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle. Simmons, William Andrew

Mr. William Andrew Simmons, age 88, of Centerville, GA died Sunday, December 11, 1994 in a local hospital. A native of Yell County, AR he was born December 22, 1905 near the community of Kingston, Yell County, AR He was the son of the late Henry Grant Lilly Victoria Tedder Simmons and the grandson of John Robert and Lousiana Martha Light Simmons and Henry and Rachel Adams Tedder all of Yell County. He was a former member of the Arkansas National Guard and a WWII veteran having served as the 1st Sgt of B Company, 1902nd Aviation Engineer Battalion during the Okinawa campaign. His last military service was as one of the guards assigned to the presidential aircraft "Independence" during the Truman administration.

He married and settled in Georgia. He moved to Centerville, GA in 1959 and retired as a civil service employee from Robins Air Force Base in 1972.

He is survived by his wife, Mildred G. Simmons, and one son Millard H. Simmons, both of Centerville; three sisters, Mrs. Oral Raper of Little Rock, Mrs. Ina Burton and Mrs. Frances Brewster both of Hot Springs, AR; two brothers, Mr. Kenneth Simmons and Gene Simmons both of Hot Springs; as well as several nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces. Mike Simpson, age 59 of Casa, died Thursday, August 13, 2009 at River Valley Medical Center. He was born July 3, 1950 at Beaumont, KY to Charles and Dolly Shives Simpson. He was a poultry farmer for Wayne Farms and attended Hickory Grove First Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles Simpson and a brother, Fred Simpson.

William Rufus Simpson, age 91, of Mt. Ida, Arkansas died Monday, December 30, 2002, at the Montgomery County Nursing Home in Mt. Ida. He was born July 15, 1911, in Fir, Arkansas to the late John Tubb and Martha Jane Hennessee Simpson. He was a retired automobile mechanic and a member of the Mt. Ida Church of God.

Ada Maxine Sims, age 75, of Havana, AR died Sunday, August 23, 1998 at St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center in Fort Smith, AR. She was born September 7, 1922 in Ringgo, Louisiana to the late Stephen and Allie Baker Finley. She was a homemaker and mother.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Gavin Finley.

She is survived by her husband, Gilbert Sims; three sons, Carl Sims of Havana, AR, Steve Copell of Minden, LA and James Copell of MO; one brother, James Finley of West Monroe, LA; two sisters, Adeline Pickard of Springhill, LA and Maurine Prest of Shreveport, LA; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Sims, C. C., Dr.

Dr. C. C. Sims, aged 67 years, died at his home in this city at 11:30 o'clock Saturday morning, March 16, 1935, after an illness of two weeks. The funeral services were held at the family home on Second Street at 3:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, being conducted by Rev. Mr. Haislip, pastor of the Russellville Christian Church, assisted by Rev. Chas. F. Wilkins and Rev. E. E. Stevenson, of this city. The funeral was largely attended by friends of Dr. Sims from all sections of Yell County, and from many other points in the State.

Dr. Sims was a native of Yell County, where he spent his entire life. For more than 40 years he had been engaged in the practice of dentistry in Dardanelle, being at one time President of the Arkansas Dental Association. He was also largely interested in farming and had extensive land holdings in Yell and other counties.

He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Stickney Meek, a grandson, Carroll Stickney Meek, Jr., and three brothers, Messrs. Bert and Lonzo Sims, of near this city, and Lee Sims, of Little Rock. James "Jim" Edward Sims, age 77, of Plainview, AR died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at his home. He was born April 15, 1933 in Finley, TN to the late James Burley & Mary Frances Arnold Sims. He is an Army Korea WWTT Veteran, a member of the Plainview Free Will Baptist Church and Plainview VFW. He was a retired truck driver and was an employee for the Plainview City Park.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca "Vickie" Robinson Sims; son Alex Gavins and brothers Jerry and Lee Sims.

Woman Killed In Accident Near Chalybeate (Mrs. Joyce Sims) - A 35- Year old woman was killed in an accident near Chalybeate last Saturday afternoon. She was identified as Mrs. Joyce Sims, 35 of Clarksville. Mrs. Sims was apparently killed, when the truck in which she was riding ran into a ditch and threw her out. Leon Edward Sims, 76, of Centerville, owner of S&S Trailer Sales and Leasing of Pottsville and a member of First Assembly of God of Centerville, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2008, at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs.

Sims, Lula

Mrs. Lula Sims, aged 69, widow of the late Dr. C. C. Sims, died at her home on Second Street Friday, June 9th, 1944. She had been in poor health for a number of years, but only in recent months had her condition been regarded as critical.

Funeral services were conducted at the home at 8:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon by Reverend Stone, Pastor of the Russellville Christian Church. Burial, in charge of the Cornwell Funeral Home, was in Brearley Cemetery.

Mrs. Sims, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jesse J. George, a prominent pioneer family of this section, was born and reared in Dardanelle, where she spent her entire life. She was a faithful member of the Christian Church, and until stricken with ill health, was zealous in all of its services and activities. She was a woman of sweet, kindly disposition, and many were the acts of charity and benevolence unostentatiously extended by her hand. She was sincerely loved, and by those who knew her best she will be deeply mourned and missed.

Mrs. Sims is survived by a daughter, Mrs. F. Stickney Meek, of Dardanelle; two sisters, Miss Ellie George, of Dardanelle, and Mrs. S. Dorsey, of Hico, Tex.; and one brother, Clarence George, of Fort Smith. The Post-Dispatch joins the many friends of the family in extending sympathy in their great loss. Funeral service will be 10 AM Thursday, December 17, 1998 at the Casa Assembly of God officiated by the Rev. Juanita Ragsdale. Burial will be at the Needmore Cemetery at Casa, AR, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Rennae Sims, age 76, of Dardanelle, AR died Saturday, December 15, 2001 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. He was born September 19, 1925 in Harkeys Valley near Dardanelle, AR to the late Leonard and Neely Irene Garner Sims. He was a 1945 graduate of Dardanelle High School. He and his wife, Rebecca owned and operated Rennae Sims Builders Supply of Dardanelle and Clarksville for 32 years as well as Danville Builders Supply, Ola Hardware and Sims Wood Products. He served as president of the Board of Directors of Dardanelle Hospital, Bay Ridge Boat & Golf Club, Dardanelle Chamber of Commerce, and the Dardanelle Kiwanis Club. He was an active board member of the First Arkansas Valley Bank, Arkansas Lumberman's Association, Midland Builders Supply, and the Arkansas Small Businessman's Association, the University of Arkansas at Morrilton Construction Department Advisory Board and the first Zoning Board for the City of Dardanelle. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Dardanelle where he attended the first church meeting in Dardanelle. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and was a lifelong member of Boyce-Woods Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3141.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Rebecca Rook Sims; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Carolyn Sims of Westerville, Ohio; a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Craig Couch of Dardanelle, AR; two brothers, Verlon Sims of Dardanelle, AR and Lamar Harkey of Ft. Worth, TX; two sisters, Erma Martin of Russellville, AR and Retha Wilson of Ola, AR; four grandchildren, Martha Anne and Andrew Paul Sims both of Westerville, OH and Ga Briel and Morgan Rennae Couch both of Dardanelle, AR.

Services were December 18, 2001 at the Church of Christ in Dardanelle with Bro. Delbert Wilson and Bro. Benny Baker officiating. Interment was in Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle. Pallbearers were Dr. Gene Ring, Todd Ferguson, Mike Cornwell, Bud Hancock, Ricky Sims, Mitchael Garrison, Arvil Sims, Howard Orsburn and Perry Turnbull. Truman Orlander Sims, age 89, of London, AR died Friday, September 12, 2003 at the Dardanelle Hospital. He was born June 2, 1914 at London, to the late Walter Orlander and Elizabeth "Lizzie" Skinner Sims. He was the owner-operator, along with his wife, of Sims Phillips 66 Grocery and Cafe; he was a retired saw miller and farmer and was a member of the Martin Chapel Assembly of God and the London Masonic Lodge.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Hoyt Sims; a brother, William A. Sims; six sisters, Leonia Dixon, Estella Jones, Bea Martin, Janie Vinson, Clara Whorton and Vie Vinson and a daughter-in-law, Mary Sims.

Survivors include his wife, Leatha Sims; four sons and daughters-in-law, Troy "Rip" and Shirley Sims of Russellville, William Orlander Sims and Rex Carl Sims both of London, Montie and Carla Sims of Dardanelle, AR and Helen Sims of London; two brothers, Bennie Sims of Dardanelle, AR and Cletis Sims of Vernal, UT; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral service was September 15, 2003 at the Shinn Chapel with Rev. Claude Jackson and Rev. Arlin B. Elmore officiating. Burial was in the East Point Cemetery at Russellville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service. Pallbearers were Robby, Paul, Kevin Dale and Bill Sims, B. J.
