Schmitt, Nancy Irene Riley

Nancy Irene Riley Schmitt, age 88, of Plainview, AR died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at the Yell County Nursing Home in Ola, AR. She was born September 14, 1914 in Gravelly, AR to the late George M. and Eldora Wilson Hunnicutt. She was a mother, homemaker, a member of the Plainview First Baptist Church, Eastern Star, Plainview VFW Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Schmitt; a son, Carl E. Riley and two grandchildren, Terry Lynn Howard and Dennis Ray Stone.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Glenn Stone of Texarkana, TX and Pat and Joe Howard of Plainview, AR; three sons and daughters-in-law, Albert and Sharon Riley of Cabot, AR, Rudy and Dorothy Riley, Russellville, AR and Ray and Sherri Riley, Haughton, LA; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral service was held June 17, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Plainview, AR with Rev. Monroe Hunt officiating. Interment was in the New Bethel Cemetery, Plainview. Arrangements by Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville, AR. Pallbearers were Jayland Riley, John Oulette, Paul Lewis, Paul Dussex, Dale Riley and Michael Riley. Seaman Recruit William Alan Schneider, age 21 of San Diego, CA died December, 1999 in San Diego, CA. He was a Seaman Recruit in the U. S. Navy.

He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Melvin Nelson of Booneville, AR; his paternal grandparents, Warren Schneider of Sheridan, TX and Bethine Schneider of California; his mother, Melinda Sue Schneider of Booneville, AR; his father, Warren Alan Schneider of Sheridan, TX; a sister, Lynn Schneider of Danville, AR; brothers, John Phomsithi, Eric Fak, Johnny Harris and Lance Ward all of Danville, AR and Gary Shewmake of Russellville, AR.

Schoonover, Claude Burton

Claude Burton Schoonover, Jr. age 68, of Denton, NC, formerly of Centerville, AR. died Tuesday, March 2, 1999 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro after a brief illness. He was born November 15, 1930 in York, Indiana to Claude B. Schoonover. Sr. and Clella O'Connor Schoonover. He worked as a farmer and in trucking and was of the Methodist faith. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Eloise Borton Schoonover of the home; three sons, Michael Alan, Mark Randall and Kent James Schoonover all of Denton, NC; a daughter, Kristine Ann Sanders of Greenwood, AR; four grandchildren; a brother, Larry Schoonover of Garrett, Indiana; four sisters, Madaline Freese of Bryan, Ohio, Margaret Everetts and Sharon Blalock both of Edgerton, Ohio and Sue Walter of Hamilton, Indiana.

Memorial service was Saturday, March 6, 1999 at Clear Springs United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Sandy Young and Mr. Hervey Yates. Lottie M. Schouweiler, of Centerville, AR, died Thursday, April 19, 2001 at her home. She was born December 13, 1920 in Centerville, AR, the daughter of the late Ben and Gracie Scoles. She attended the Centerville Assembly of God and was retired from the Alexander Human Development Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Schouweiler; an infant son; her daughter, Betty Ferguson; a grandson, Scott Williams; three brothers, Johnny, Raymond and Thelmar Scoles and a sister, Sadie Hilliard.

Survivors include, grandchildren, Craig Ferguson, Tiffany Cody both of Morrilton; great grandchildren, Ashley, Rachel and Allison Ferguson and Will Cody all of Morrilton; two step-sons, Bill Schouweiler of Van Buren and Bob Williams of Lonoke; two step-daughters, Nancy Beavers and Becky Harris both of Ft. Smith, AR; four sisters, Pearlie Cook and Bessie Gray both of Centerville, Bobbie Bolden of Dardanelle and Clara Geels of New Blaine, AR and two brothers, Charlie and Jess Scoles both of Centerville.

Schubert, Lola Marie Holland

Lola Marie Holland Schubert, age 89 of Scott, Louisiana died May 26, 2005 in Nampa, Idaho. She was born August 11, 1915 in Danville to the late Arthur and Lela Carr Staggs. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the Plainview Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Holland and Herman Schubert.

Survivors are a son, Bobby Holland of Sacramento, CA; four daughters, Jean Kniffin of Boise, ID, Patricia Ann Sonnier of Scott, LA, Darlene McCullers of Valley Springs, CA, Freda Aime of Lakeland, FL; sister, Jesse Smith of Danville, nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Schuemann, Alvin William

Alvin William Schuemann, age 87, of Dardanelle, AR died Sunday, May 13, 2001 at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville, AR. He was born January 15, 1914 in Blue Island, Illinois to the late Herman and Emma Schroeder Schuemann. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Blue Island, IL and after his retirement as a meat cutter he and his wife moved to Dardanelle and joined St. John's Lutheran church in Russellville where he served as an elder. He was a member of the Bay Ridge Boat and Golf Club, a life time member of the Elks Club, the German and American Club for over 30 years, member and past president of the Russellville AARP and was a numismatist for 40 years.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Norman, Martin and Lester Schuemann and two sisters, Stella Tagge and Alice Swafford.

Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Andres Schuemann; one daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Ray Benck of Binghamton, NY; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Madelen Schuemann of Squaw Lake, Minnesota and Garry and Virginia Schuemann of Darlen, IL; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Service will be today, Wednesday, May 16, 2001 at 1:00 p. m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Russellville with Rev. Darrell C. Kobs officiating. Dorothy Helen Schuemann, age 85, Russellville, formerly of Dardanelle died Wednesday, August 28, 2002 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born December 16, 1916 in Tinley Park, Illinois; she was the daughter of the late William and Marie Brunner Andres.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin W. Schuemann; a sister, Sylvia Reynolds. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, the Altar Guild, and Women's Mission League, Bay Ridge Boat and Golf Club, Elks, AARP, and Dardanelle Garden Club. She retired after 25 years as a sewing instructor and salesperson for Singer Sewing Machine Company.

Survivors include a daughter, Norma D. Schuemann Benck and husband, Raymond of Binghamton, NY; sons, Dennis A. Schuemann and wife, Madelen, of Squaw Lake, MN, Garry William Schuemann and wife, Virginia of Darien, IL; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services were Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 1:00 p. m. at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Darrell C. Kobs officiating. Anna Marie Elizabeth Cinger Scott, age 71, died August 17, 1998 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. She was one of four daughters of Van Joseph and Mary Margaret Wesley) Cinger. She was born August 22, 1926 on the Cinger farm near Dardanelle, AR. She graduated from Dardanelle High School in 1946. She married John A. Scott III on January 1, 1948. She worked at pharmacies and as a child care provider. She was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Sumner, Iowa and was an active member. She has also been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Bingo club and the Birthday club.

She is survived by her husband, John of Sumner, IA; eight daughters, Carol Feller and husband, Brian of Bellavue, IA, Karen Smith and husband, Frank of Bloomfield, NM, Dianne Strickler and husband, Gary of Centerville, I A, Joyce Bast and husband, Ron of Evansville, IN, Sharon Long and husband, Brett of South Milwaukee, WI, Lynn Scott of Sumner, Ann Cutshall and husband, Steve of Allison, OA and Alice Scott of Sumner, IA; seven grandchildren; and one sister, Bessie Kepchar of Crown Point, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Josephine and Frances, who died in infancy at six months of age, and an infant granddaughter.

Uncle Ben Scott of Bauxite, long time resident of the Young Gravelly community in Yell County, departed this life March 8, 1949 at the age of 87 years, and laid to rest in the Bluffton Cemetery. Uncle Ben was a honorary member of Bluffton Lodge No. 123 F. & A. M. and had been a Mason for 50 years. He was well liked by everyone in his acquaintance and resided for more than 50 years near Bluffton in this county.

He is survived by his wife and two sons, Leo and Leon of Bauxite.

Billy Gray "Bill" Scott, 78, died Sunday, November 9, 2003 at an Abilene Medical Center in Texas. He was the ninth and last child of Felix Franklin and Maude Zelia Valentine Scott, born October 8, 1925 in Waveland, AR. He graduated from high school in Havana, AR. He attended Ark. Tech in Russellville and continued his education by completing several courses in various universities. His career as an educator began as a vocational agriculture teacher in Texas. He substituted for Harry Holt on his weekly TV and daily radio programs, having appeared as a guest many times. Among several other things, he was associated with Texas Pork Producers Association. From several schools and associations he won many medals and awards. He sold the "world record breaking" boar at the Texas Hampshire Breeder's Conference, the largest swine sale in the United States, for $200, 000. He married Marilyn Money of Waco, TX on June 23, 1951. He was a charter member of South 11th and Willis Church of Christ, was a deacon and a teacher. He was a United States Marine veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Rex and Ray Scott; 2 sisters, Marie Jackson and Vivian Mayes.

He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Scott of Abilene, TX; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Tiffany and Dan Wyde, Dallas, TX and Chandra and Ken Corse, Hartley, TX; 4 sisters, May Holland of Wimberley, TX, Fairy Parker of Mesquite, TX, Ailene Wangerin of Abilene, TX and Mary Feely of Needham, MA; and two grandsons.

Funeral service was Wednesday, November 12, 2003. On visitation night the Elliot-Hamil Funeral Home displayed all his medals and 6th awards, along with his grade report card, which drew more attention than anything else. Scott, Dale A.

Dale A. Scott, age 68, of Danville, AR died Saturday, June 10, 2000 at Chambers. Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. He was born January 8, 1932 in Okemah, OK to the late Benjamin and Melisie McCain Scott. He was a retired water superintendent for the city of Danville, a Korean War veteran and a member of the Plainview VFW 8525.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Scott and a sister, Hazel Hammons.

Survivors are, his wife, Ella Vaughn Scott; a daughter, Peggy Deen of Morrilton, AR; a sister, Sharon West of Dumas, AR; a grandson, Scott Deen of DeQueen, AR and a; granddaughter, April Deen of Los Angeles, CA.

Scott, Elmer

Elmer Scott, age 58 of Ola, died Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at his home in Ola. He had served in the Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was born in Heber Springs, Arkansas on July 22, 1945. He was the son of the late Walter and Ida Phiamlee Scott.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Thurman, Lelous, and Elbert Scott, and two sisters, Kathleen Patterson, and Wilajean Kemp.

Survivors include four brothers, Arlen Scott of Briggsville, Shelby Scott of Rover, Donald Scott, and Loyd Scott of Plainview, four sisters, Rosa L. Hooker, Mt. Ida, Gladys Gibson, and Lois Velasqueze of California, and Hazel Scott of Plainview and several nephews and nieces.

Funeral services were held July 10, 2004 at the Salem Church with burial in Salem Cemetery in Plainview. Military Honors by the Boyce Woods VFW Post 3141 Dardanelle, AR. Scott, Florence E. Fudge

Florence E. Fudge Scott, age 78,; of Delaware, AR died Wednesday, February 26, 1997 at the Saline County Hospital in Benton, AR. She was a retired store owner in Delaware. She was born November 23, 1918 in Adona, AR to the late I Andrew and Fannie Mae Hunter Fudge. She has resided with her daughter, Barbara Rollans of Bryant for the past year.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Scott and a son, Donald Scott.

Survivors include two sons, A. J. Scott of Little Rock and Michael Scott of Russellville; four daughters, Barbara Rollans of Bryant, Jo Anne Johns of St. Charles, IL, Anita (Susie) Crow of Dardanelle and Phyllis Snow of Soldatna, Alaska; 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral service was Friday, February 28, 1996 at the Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. David Jay and Rev. Lonnie Guess officiating. Interment was in the Brearley Cemetery. Scott, Gene Paxton

Gene Paxton Scott, 87, of Danville passed away peacefully with many family members at his side on July 18, 2009. He was born November 21, 1921 in Schleswig, Iowa to William Dell and Mary Ann Scott. He graduated from Schleswig High School and attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He was the 1941 Iowa Golden Gloves boxing champion in the 160-pound division and was nicknamed Lefty. In New Burn, North Carolina on March 24, 1944, Gene married Joyce Annette Roadman. The two made their home in Sioux City, Iowa where they raised their children. He worked as a realtor at Mansfield Sandman until he retired in 1979 and moved to their ranch in Danville, AR. Gene served in the United States Marine Corp as a First Lieutenant and flew the FU4 Corsair in WWII as a Fighter Pilot from 1942 to 1947. During his tour he traveled to the South Pacific, Japan, Guam, Midway, Okinawa and China. Besides loving his family, Gene had a passion for airplanes, horses and serving others. He was also a friend of Bill W. Gene was a faithful member of St. Johns Catholic Church in Russellville, AR.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one brother, three sisters, and one grandson.

He is survived by seven children, Gene Michal and Paul Sussman of San Diego, CA; Rick and Corlee Scott of Sioux City, IA; Greg Scott and Gene Eriquiaga of San Diego, CA; Cynthia (Skin) Scott-Forsythe and Robert Forsythe of Little Rock, AR; Shane Scott of Little Rock, AR; Bill and Josie Scott of Sioux City, IA and Maryann (DeeDee) Scott and Greg Olmstead of Linden, CA. He is also survived by thirteen awesome grandchildren and fourteen beautiful great grandchildren.

There will be a casual memorial service to celebrate Genes life on Friday, July 24th at 11:00 a. m. at the JoGene Ranch, 28137 State Hwy 80. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital at 4300 West 7th Street, Little Rock, AR 72205, attention Hematology Department. Scott, Herbert N. "Sonny"

Herbert N. "Sonny" Scott, age 67 of North Little Rock, AR formerly of Ola, ARdied Friday, January 17, 1997 at Rebsamen Regional Medical Center in Jacksonville. He was born October 26, 1929 in Ola, AR to the late James Roy and Estel Doris Hays Scott. He was a disabled truck driver for Thermo Gas Co. a WWII Air Force Veteran and a member of the 47th Street Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Earnie Scott of Cabot, AR; two daughters, Detri "Dee Dee" Smith of North Little Rock, AR and Annettee Garstka of Cabot, AR; three brothers, Charles Scott, Wayne Scott and J. Scott, Joyce Annette

Joyce Annette Scott, age 81, of Danville, AR returned to the Lord on August 13, 2003. She was born on June 10, 1922 in Fayette, Iowa to Irma Keene Roadman and Earl Alan Roadman. She lived in Waterloo, IA until 1927 and moved to Mitchell, SD where her father was President of Dakota Wesleyan University. With her family, she moved to Sioux City, IA in 1936 where her father was President of Morningside College. She attended the University of Illinois in 1943-44 where she was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority. She graduated from Morningside College and then taught at DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. In 1944 she married Gene Paxton Scott in New Bern, NC where he was stationed in the Marine Corp at Cherry Point. In January of 1945, they entertained their first-born son and continued the parenting path after returning to Sioux City with 6 more children to come. She taught at Morningside College from 1967 until 1972 where she was also a member of Business and Professional Woman in Sioux City. After purchasing a cattle ranch in 1974, they relocated to Danville, AR. In Danville she was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church. In addition to her love for her family, she enjoyed knitting, playing bridge with her friends and communicating with family and friends through email.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Irma and Earl Roadman, two brothers, Keene and Dr. Charles Roadman and one sister, Earline Albaugh. Her memory will be cherished by her husband, Gene Paxton Scott; five sons, Gene Michael Scott (Mike) and Gregory (Greg) Ryan Scott both of San Diego CA, Rick Corsair Scott and William (Bill) Dell Scott both of Sioux City, IA and Shane Cameron Scott of Little Rock, AR; two daughters, Cynthia (Cyndy) Jogene Scott-Forsythe of Little Rock, AR and Maryanne (DeeDee) Olmstead of Linden, CA; two sisters, Katie Mills of Omaha, NE and Pauline Fishbeck of Manitowoc, WI; 13 grandchildren; four great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and many loyal friends.

Scott, Lola George

Lola George Scott, age 95 of Dardanelle died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the Greenbrier Nursing Home. She was born February 14, 1910 at Mt. George. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Nelson and Maggie George and Mary Ann Lacy George; her husband, Louie Scott; two brothers, G. A. George and Leroy George.

Survivors include four nephews, Warren George of Greers Ferry, Jim George of North Little Rock, Al George of Dardanelle, Loyd George of Alabama; one niece, Anna Jo Crump of Idaho; one brother, O. W. George of Fairfield Bay; host of great nephews, nieces and great-great nephews and nieces.

Graveside services were held Friday, January 13, 2006 at Mt. George Cemetery with Bro. Chris George officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Mt. Scott, Louie L.

Mr. Louie L. Scott, age 84, of Dardanelle, AR died Monday, March 10, 1997 at his home. He was a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ, WWII Army Veteran. He worked as a warden with the Cummins Prison Unit, he retired from Arkansas Valley Industries where he worked as a field representative and was a former member of the Yell County Mounted Patrol. He was born October 18, 1912 in the New Hope Community to the late Jim and Ola Crow Scott, D. V. M. He was also preceded in death by one brother, George Scott and one sister, Mable Scott Tillman.

Survivors include wife, Lola George Scott of the home; a brother, Lamar Scott of Bartlesville, OK; nephew, Gary Scott of Bartlesville, OK and a niece, Diane Fochee of California.

Funeral service will be 2 pm Wednesday, March 12, 1997 at the Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Dardanelle by Bro. Jack Lawyer assisted by Bro. Benny Baker. Interment will follow in the Mt. George Cemetery.
