Alma Joann Junyor, age 67 of Dardanelle passed away Saturday, September 20, 2008. She was born November 20, 1940, in Black Oak, Arkansas to the late Robert Benjamin and Alma Matie Morton Junyor. She was a member of the Dardanelle St. Augustines Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Theadore Edwards, Jr.; brothers, Edward Lee Junyor, Erman Junyor and Ronnie Junyor.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa Duncan, Roberta and Robert Taylor, Terrie and Steve McCage all of Dardanelle; sons, Ted Edwards of Dardanelle, Tim and Cindy Edwards of Taft, California; sister, Mary Junyor of Clarksville; brothers, Elbert and Alice Junyor of Jonesboro and Harold Junyor of Bakersfield, California; sister-in-law, Barbara Junyor of Caraway, Arkansas; 10 grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Helen Francis Justice, age 74 of Ashland City, TN died February 15, 1999 at Nashville Memorial Hospital in Nashville, TN. She was born October 4, 1924 to Julian and LaVesta Ryles Hunnicutt at Gravelly, AR. She was a homemaker and member of the Neptune United Methodist Church, Ashland City, TN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Atlas Justice and a daughter, Sherry Diane Justice.
She is survived by Keith Justice and Michael Justice both of Ashland City, TN; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

John C. Kaden, age 96 of Dardanelle, formerly of Berryville, Arkansas died Wednesday at Dardanelle Hospital. He was born October 27, 1906 in Hannibal, Missouri; he was the son of the late George P. and Anna M. Ruhl Kaden. He was a cattle and crop farmer and had worked for the Farmall Tractor Company. He was a member of the Berryville First Christian Church, which he joined at age 13.
He was preceded in death by two wives, Darlene Kaden, and Lula M. Sandidge Jennings Kaden, who he married in Dardanelle on June 15, 1946; a son, Robert Kaden; daughters, Barbara Kaden Hensley and Marlene Kaden; sisters, Lula Reed and Daisy Hill; a grandson and 3 great grandchildren.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, John "Jack" W. and Ethel Kaden, and Charles W. Kaden, all of Springfield, MO; a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Laura and Bobby Callan of Dardanelle; grandchildren, Tommy and Mary, Deborah, and Carol Hensley all of Galesburg, IL, Charles, Christopher, Crystal, and Barbara Kaden, all of Illinois; step-grandchildren and spouses, Dana and Ray Edwards of Dardanelle and Lloyd and Cyndia Callan of Pottsville; 8 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, and 1 step-grandchild.
Funeral services were Friday, December 13, 2002, at Cornwell Chapel Dardanelle with the Rev. Floyd Ervin officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home Dardanelle. Mrs. Lula M. Kaden, age 90 of Dardanelle, AR died Friday, October 22, 1999 at the Dardanelle Hospital. She was born July 9, 1909 in Surgoinsville, TN to the late Hast M. and Flora A. Jones Sandidge. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the Christian Church in Berryville, AR.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Hay den Jennings; a daughter, Mary, Ann Jennings; three brothers, W. D. Sandidge, John Robert Sandidge and Hast M. Sandidge, Jr.; two sisters, Mrs. Charlie Bass and Mrs. J. W. Clifton; a step-son, Tommy Kaden; two step-daughters, Marilyn Kaden and Barbara Hensley.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, John C. Kaden; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Bobby Callan of Dardanelle; two step-sons and wife, Jack and Ethel Kaden and Charles Kaden all of Springfield, MO; one sister, Katherine Thompson of Jonesboro, TN; two grandchildren, Lloyd Callan of Russellville and Dana Callan Edwards of Dardanelle, AR; one great-granddaughter, Savanah Faith Callan of Russellville; three step-grandchildren, Chris Kaden, Crystal Kaden and Charlie Kaden, Jr. all of Illinois; step-son-in-law, Ralph Hensley of Chicago, IL and a host of Hensley step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

Evert Van Kampen was born August 30, 1912 at Sully, Iowa to Evert and Nellie Van Kampen of Sully. He passed away January 16, 1997 at the Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. He farmed in the Sully, Iowa and New Sharon, Iowa area for a number of years. He was a salesman for the Harper Brush Company of Fairfield, IA for over forty years. He lived in California for approximately ten years, then moved to Arkansas in the late 1980s. In 1991 he was married to Clara Smith. They continued to live in Arkansas until Evert passed away. While living in Arkansas Evert continued his occupation as salesman for the Harper Brush Company. He enjoyed the rural life and loved raising a large garden. He wanted to work and found it very difficult to accept his failing health and inability to work in the last few months. Evert and Clara attended the Assembly of God Church in Havana, AR when their health allowed them to.
He had five children Helen Louise, Frederick Evert, Donald Eugene, Ivan Dewayne and Iva Mae. Helen and Ivan preceded him in death. Frederick lives in Marcola, OR, Donald at Montezuma, IA and Iva Mae at Bussey, IA. He has nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service was January 20th at the Assembly of God Church in Havana, AR. He was laid to rest at the Union Hill Cemetery, Union Hill, AR. Joseph Kahalau "Dusty" Kane III, age 47, of Dardanelle, AR died Saturday, November 13. 1999. He was born December 19, 1951 in Topeka, KS to the late Joseph Kahalau Kane. He was a Vietnam Veteran and a nuclear pipefitter.
Survivors are, his wife, Karen Witt Kane; two sons, Dustin Kane and Christopher Kane both of Dardanelle, AR; three daughters, Robin Christner of Abhene, KS, Jennifer Buchman of Council Grove, KS and Kyla Kane of Dardanelle, AR; his mother, Lola Kane of Apple Valley, CA; five brothers, Darrell Kane of Hawaii, Doug Kane of California, Arron Kane of Texas, Kevin and David Kane both of Kansas; six sisters, Karen Fritzer of Colorado, Denise Lewis and Darlinda Bishop both of California, Kandy Cape of Texas, Diane Smith and Alice Taylor both of Kansas; and two children, Evan and Natalie Christner both of Council Grove, KS.

Karen Diane Karas age 56 of Belleville died Thursday, August 31, 2006 at her home. She was born March 16, 1950 at Austin, Minnesota to the late George and Wilma Bell. She was employed by Wal-Mart in Dardanelle as a Shoe Department Manager.
Survivors include her husband, Al Karas of Belleville; brother, Kenny Bell of Austin, Minnesota.

Jenifer Nicole Karnes, age 17, of Havana, AR died Monday, November 4, 2002 at Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, AR. She was born in Fort Smith, AR on September 27, 1985. She had been a resident at Brownwood Life Center in Fort Smith for the past 15 years.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Stermon Karnes.

Mildred Iris Tapp Karnes, age 86, of Havana, AR died Saturday at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. She was born July 27, 1918 in Havana, AR to the late Millard F. and Mollie Davis Tapp. She was a retired poultry and cattle farmer, a homemaker and mother.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Millard F. "Pete" Tapp.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Sid Karnes; a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Barbara Karnes of Pittsburgh, TX; four brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Grace Tapp of Del City, OK, Gene and Johnnie Tapp of Russellville, AR, Bill and Oda Tapp and Loyce and Betty Tapp all of Havana; two sisters, Joyce Adair of Havana, AR and Pat and Martin Feeny of Benton, AR; a sister-in-law, Faye Tapp of Havana, AR; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Sidney Jay Karnes of Havana, Arkansas died Sunday, February 12, 2006 at Mitchells Nursing Home in, Danville. He was born August 18, 1914 in Dover, AR to the late William A. and Margaret "Maggie" Williams Karnes. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He was a member of Havana First Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon since 1954. He was a retired poultry grader and farmer, and in his active years was an avid fisherman and hunter, and loved the beauty of Gods nature.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mildred Tapp Karnes; his parents; fifteen siblings, Lee Alan, Claude, Cleo, Gus, Joe, Welzie, Ruth, Pauline, Mildred, Alice, Woodrow, Monroe, Opal, Lorraine and an infant baby boy.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Barbara Karnes of Pittsburg, TX; three grandchildren, Cheryl Thrasher and husband, Russell of Paris, TX. Calvin Morris Kassaw, Sr. age 70 of Dardanelle, AR died Monday, August 17, 1998 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. He was born June 21, 1928 at Royal to Clarence and Verna Byers Kassaw. He was a retired pipefitter. He repaired stringed musical instruments for Sound Investments and built various instruments including dulcimers, guitars and mandolins. He was emcee for the Spring Mountain Jamboree and a member of Upper Spring Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Lynn Kassaw.
Surviving are his wife, Rosemary Stiener Kassaw; a son, Calvin Kassaw, Jr. of Dardanelle; a daughter, Sharon Curtis of Dardanelle; two brothers, Elmer Kassaw of Hot Springs, AR and Glenn Kassaw of Royal, AR; a sister, Grace Johnston of Royal, AR; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Rosemary Louise Kassaw, age 77 of Dardanelle died Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at Baptist Health Medical Center. She was born October 14, 1930 at Bluffton, OH to the late David G. and Louella Mae Moser Steiner. She retired from Dardanelle Hospital as an LPN.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Calvin Kassaw, Sr. and an infant child, Gary Lynn Kassaw.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Calvin and Norma Kassaw, Jr. of Dardanelle; daughter, Sharon Curtis of Dardanelle; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson and many nieces and nephews.

FORT SMITH -- Boyd A. Keathley, age 73, of Fort Smith, secretary to federal Judge Paul X Williams, died Sunday (December 31, 1978) at Washington County Regional Medical Center of injuries suffered in an automobile accident about three weeks ago at Fayetteville. A native of Danville, Mr. Keathley was the court reporter for Pope County for 30 years before becoming Judge Williams' secretary. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star at Russellville and was a Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of the Rotary Club, the Arkansas Bar Association and the Federal Judiciary Secretary's Association.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Marie Robinson Keathley; a daughter, Mrs. Gerald Hammett of Phoenix, AZ; three sisters, Mrs. S. J. Morse of Linden, Tex., and Mrs. Eric Cavaniss and Mrs. J. B. Stevenson, both of Danville, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Boyd A. Keathley, age 73, of Fort Smith, a Pope County court reporter for 30 years died Sunday, Dec. 31, 1978 at Washington County Regional Medical Center at Fayetteville of injuries suffered December 7 in a traffic accident at Fayetteville. Keathley was a native of Danville and was secretary to federal Judge Paul X. Williams. Before moving to Fort Smith from Russellville, he was court reporter for former Circuit Judge Audrey Strait of Morrilton. He was a member of the Eastern Star at Russellville, a Mason, a Shriner, a member of the First Methodist Church at Fort Smith, the Rotary Club, the Arkansas Bar Association and the Federal Judiciary Secretaries Association.

Mary Nell Keathley age 87 of Danville, AR died Saturday, April 3, 2010 at her home in Danville. She was born September 5, 1922 at Wing to the late Buford and Japp Caviness Compton. She retired from the U. S. Forest Service as office manager and was past director of the Yell County Hospital. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Danville, UM Womens Club and received a 50 year pin from Wesleyan Service Guild, Danville Ladies Bridge Club and was on the Yell County Homecoming Parade Committee. She was a devoted fan of the Danville Little Johns and the Arkansas Razorbacks.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Dick Keathley and Odell Lewis.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bood and Sarah Keathley of Danville; a sister, Fanny George of Danville; two granddaughters and their spouses, Mary and Scott Snider of Little Rock, Elizabeth and Bobby Rehm of Russellville; grandson, Matthew Benson of Fayetteville; great grandchildren, Keathley Snider, Mary McKenzie Snider, Pearson Snider and Eliza Rehm; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mary Nell Keathley, Longtime Yell County Fair Registrar, Dies - You could always find her on parade day of the Yell County Fair-no matter what the weather. Mary Nell Keathley, 87, of Danville, died on April 3. She served as one of the registrars on Homecoming Parade Day where she was able to visit with many of the returning homecomers. She also served as office manager at the U. S. Forest Service for many years and was a past board director of the Yell County Hospital.
Mrs. Keathley was the daughter of the late longtime Yell County Sheriff, Buford Compton. She was not the only member of her family who helped on Homecoming Day, as her sister, Fanny George, also of Danville, well into her 90 's, has rode in the parade as Parade Marshal for many years.

Mrs. Norvalle A. Keathley, age 74, died Tuesday in the Yell County Hospital after a long illness.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. T. R. Pound of Danville; three sons, Jack V. Keathley of Danville, Fred S. Keathley of Oklahoma City and Herbert L. Keathley of Topeka, Kansas; one grandson. H. L. Robert Compton Keathley, age 73, of Danville, died Saturday, August 27, 1988, at St. Vincents Hospital in Little Rock. He was a native of Danville. He was a former owner of the Danville Tractor Company and the manager of Fergeson Keathley farming operation in Yell County. He was a graduate of Arkansas Tech, and the University of Arkansas, a 50 year member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and a 50 year Mason; a past president of the Danville Lions Club; and was Assistant Chief of the Danville Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years. After graduating from the University of Arkansas he was employed by Research Division of United Fruit Company in Guatemala and Honduras, returning to the United States volunteer for the U. S. Navy, serves a Chief Petty Officer during World War II. He was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church, served on the Official Board of trustee is a member of the Building committee. Children of the church called him "Father of the Year" and was the son of the late J. A. and Judia Scott Keathley.
Survivors include his wife", Katharine Ferguson Keathley; one daughter, Mary Frances Brown of Houston, TX; one sister, Mrs. Audrey Caviness of Danville; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Robert and Meredith Brown.
Funeral services were held at the Danville United Methodist Church Tuesday with Rev. Mike Morey officiating. Interment was at Havana Cemetery. Vernie Beatrice Keathley, age 90, of Danville, AR died June 18, 2003. She was a resident of the Mitchell's Nursing Home, she lived in Belleville, AR prior to moving to the nursing home in 1996. She was born December 9, 1912 at Belleville, AR to the late Thomas Hannibal and Sarah Ella (Gant) Farrow. She was a graduate of the Arkansas Tech University and was a retired elementary school teacher for the Belleville School District for 30 years. She attended the Upper Spring Creek Free Will Baptist Church and was a Charter member of the Upper Spring Creek Extension Homemakers Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Denver L. Keathley; a daughter, Jemima Ann and two brothers, Glenn and Joe Farrow.
Survivors include; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Keathley of Belleville, AR and Joe and Julie Keathley of Wichita, KS; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Crownover of Norman, OK.
Funeral service was held June 21, 2003 at the Upper Spring Creek Free Will Baptist Church, Belleville. Burial was in the Upper Spring Creek Cemetery. Bonnie Fay Keeling, age 74, of Centerville, AR died Wednesday, March 28, 2001. She was born July 14, 1926 at Hot Springs, AR to the late Clarence Aldrich and Minnie Echols Aldrich Midkiff. She was a member of the Oakland Heights Assembly of God Church in Russellville and was a retired dental assistant.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and stepfather, Walter Midkiff and a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Gary Debella.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene "Boog" Keeling; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Nancy Keeling of Dover, AR; brother, Ralph Aldrich of Pearcy, AR and three grandchildren, Jaime, Tanner and Tatum Keeling.
Funeral service was March 30 with Rev. Jean Findley Jones officiating at the Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle, AR. Jimmy Elton Keeling, age 64 of Dardanelle, formerly of Marianna died Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Dardanelle Retirement Center. He was born March 19, 1943 at Marianna, AR to the late Fred Elden and Vera Tennessee Logan Keeling. He was a retired truck driver and was a past fireman for West Helena. He loved fishing, camping, bluegrass music, his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, DeShea Keeling of Palestine; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Garry Thomas of Oil-ton, OK, Patty and Michael Bilbrey of Lynn, AR; two sons and daughter-in-law, Jason and Tiffany Keeling of Russellville, Jamie Keeling of Atkins; two step-children, William Colvin and Tonya Colvin, both of Palestine; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held March 20, 2008 at Atkins Cemetery officiated by Rev. Michael Burden. Pallbearers were Brian Mahan, Tony Reynolds, Barry Downs, Timmy Wyrick, Mike Wyrick and Christopher Keeling. Leonard C. Keeling, age 87 of Centerville, AR died Monday, November 23, 2009 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. He was born July 5, 1922 at Pope County to the late William Ernest and Nell Terrell Keeling. He was retired from the Arkansas Highway Dept., a U. S. Navy Veteran and served on the U. S. S. Pensacola CA 24 during WW II and a member of the Centerville Assembly of God Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Susanne Keeling and granddaughter Kande Gail Keeling.
Survivors include his wife Mildred Keeling; son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Donna Keeling; grandson and wife, John David and Carla Keeling all of Centerville; two great grandsons; two brothers Eugene and Ann Keeling and J. W. Keeling; a sister, Sally and Bud Johnston and lots of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Nellie Leora Keeling, age 95, formerly of Centerville, AR died Friday, May 28, 1998 in Roland, AR. She was born December 12, 1902 in St. Joe, AR to the late John W. and Mary Terrill. She was a homemaker, mother and a member of the Centerville Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Keeling and a daughter, Verlie Pearl Keeling.
She is survived by three sons, Leonard C. Keeling and Ernest Eugene Keeling of Ola and John Keeling of Oklahoma; a daughter, Sally Johnston of Roland, AR; a sister, Bernice Fowler of Centerville, AR; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Dardanelle Boy Dies of Leukemia - Danny Keenan, age 6, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Keenan, died Monday in Boston, Mass. Danny has been in Boston for several weeks taking treatment for leukemia.

"Pete" Ellis L. Keener, age 89 of Plainview, died Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Fort Smith. He was born July 12, 1919 in Onyx, AR to the late William and Nellie Kirby Keener. He was a WWII Army Veteran, a logger and a member of American Legion.

Clinton Clyde Keener, age 83 of Perryville, AR, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004. He was born November 1, 1920, in Onyx, AR, a son of Odie Keener and Nellie Sconce Keener. He was the widower of Pearline Penny Keener. He was an Army World War II veteran and a heavy equipment operator for McGeorge Construction Company, and the U. S. Forestry Service.
Survivors include one son, Steven Clyde Keener of Perryville; three daughters, Brenda Carol Cannon of Perryville, La Donna Gayle Williams of Houston, Kathy Jo Lee of Greenbrier; one brother, Earl Keener of Russellville; two sisters, Mildred Cunningham of Plainview, Mary Jo Jones of Spokane, Washington; thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Earl R. Keener, age 93, of Russellville, AR died Saturday, November 14, 2009 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. The son of Odie and Nellie Bell Sconce Keener, he was born November 7, 1916 in Onyx, Yell County, Arkansas. He married Flora Forrest on June 22, 1945 in Plainview. He was a member of Bakers Creek Baptist Church, the Nail Benders of Arkansas and Plainview Masonic Lodge 641. He enjoyed bird hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Judy Terry, Blanch Godwin and Norma Dale; one brother, Clyde Keener; nephew, Lance Cunningham; niece, Betty Sullivan; and mother-in-law, Floy Forrest.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Flora Keener; two sisters, Mildred Cunningham of Plainview and Mary Jo Jones of Seven Bays, WA; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral was November 16, 2009 at First Baptist Church at Plainview with Rev. Doug White and Rev. Monroe Hunt officiating. She was preceded in death by her mother, Kay Keener.

Glyda Swaim Keener, age 96, of Onyx, died Thursday, July 24, 2003. She was born on February 27, 1907 at Aly, the daughter of Otis Polk Swaim and Jodie Rainwater Swaim. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Democratic Party.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Orr Bates, and her second husband, Jess Keener.
She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.
Services were Saturday, July 26, 2003 in the Aly Community Church with Bob Fallen officiating. Interment was in Aly Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
