Crow, Gail Jackson

Gail Jackson Crow departed this life on June 17, 2007 after living his entire life of 94 years in the Centerville community, in Yell County, AR. He was born March 17, 1913, the date that would also become his wedding anniversary.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Douglas Crow, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years; his daughter, JoAnn Fulkerson, his siblings, Janie Crow, Henry Crow, Veldredge Crow, Harold Crow, Jess Crow and his parents. He was the eighth child of David Thomas and Nannie Andrew Jackson Crow, who was a Yell County Pioneer.

He leaves two children, Barbara and husband, Ruben McConnell of Russellville, AR and Thomas D. and wife Linda Land Crow of Dardanelle, AR; a son-in-law, Ron Fulkerson of Oklahoma City, OK, husband of JoAnn. He also leaves nine grandchildren, Lucinda Barton, Laura Chism, Ken McConnell, Steven Fulkerson, Scott Fulkerson, Shawn Fulkerson, Douglas Crow, Deborah Orsburn, Diane Gassaway and twenty one great-grandchildren.

Gail lived a lifetime of hard work. He was given a team of mules at an early age, as were his brothers, and was expected to cultivate 40 acres each summer. When attending high school, he drove a school bus for Ola High School, where he met Mary Lou Douglas. He earned his football sweater there, and was captain of the team. After graduation, he and Mary were married in 1934. Gail worked as a clerk in a General Store, farmed, worked construction, raised broilers for AVI and then became a USDA Inspector for the Poultry Processing Industry. He worked in and around Dardanelle until his retirement in 1975. His retirement hobbies were raising beef and growing an extremely large garden that he planted, tended and shared with his family and many, many friends. Gail has been a member of the Methodist Church since 1935. He did much work on the financing and construction of the Centerville Methodist Church in early 1950. He was a Sunday School Superintendent and also a Song Leader in this church for many years. He was a member and later President of the Ola School Board for many years. Also, he was a member of the Yell County Equalization Board, and was on the original board of the Dardanelle Hospital. He was a mentor, a good neighbor, a generous and loving man who really enjoyed helping others. He was dearly loved by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and extended family. He had many good friends that he so enjoyed. He lived a long and happy life and his memory will long be cherished.

Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 2 p. m. at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. Roger Glover officiating and assisted by Bro. Ralph Weinhold. Interment will be in Brearley Cemetery, Dardanelle. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Ken McConnell, Doug Crow, Steven, Scott and Shawn Fulkerson and his special nephew, Kenneth Crow. Honorary pallbearers are Elbert McConnell, Barger Crow, Keith Crow, Roy Tillman, Jr. David Crow, Bobby Crow, Mitchell Thorpe, Gordon Miller, Mark Crow, Robert Neal Douglas, Eugene Keeling and Larry Perryman. Crow, Gola Matilda "Goly" (Dean) (Mrs.)

Mrs. Gola Dean Crow, aged 72, of Dardanelle, died Wednesday in a Russellville hospital. She taught in Yell County schools more than 25 years before retiring. She was a member of the Liberty Hall Methodist Church and had been a Sunday School teacher several years.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur D. Crow; two sons, Lloyd Russell Crow and Robert Crow of Dardanelle; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Poole of Richardson, Tex., and Mrs. Ava Dean Partridge of West Helena; and nine grandchildren.

Crow, Jackie

Jackie Crow, age 70, of Russellville, Arkansas, died Sunday, February 16, 2003 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, Arkansas. The son of Benton and Marie (George) Crow, he was born January 21, 1933 in Centerville, Arkansas. He married Pearl Dixon on July 10, 1953 at Ola, Arkansas. He worked as a material procurement manager at Arkansas Nuclear One until his retirement in 1991. After retirement, he was the agent for Greyhound Bus Lines in Russellville. Jackie was a member of the Pope County Quorum Court at the time of his death. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Russellville for 50 years. He was a football and basketball official for 35 years and was a member of the Arkansas Officials Association. He also coached Little League baseball in Russellville for many years and was a life member of the Arkansas Valley Horse Show Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Crow of Russellville, AR; two daughters, Janet Schweinfurth and husband, Mark of Oklahoma City, OK, Carole McCaw and husband, Jim of Birmingham, AL; one son, Jeff Crow of Russellville, AR; four brothers, Jim Crow of Bixby, OK, John Crow of Morrilton, AR, James Crow of Council Bluffs, IA, Ronnie Crow of Dardanelle, AR; two sisters, Mary Ellen Mabry of Barling, AR, Nancy Moore of Dardanelle, AR; six grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at the Humphrey Chapel. Crow, James Henry

James H. Crow, 82, of Dardanelle, died Friday in a hospital in Bethalto, Ill. He was a native of Yell County and had lived here all his life. He was a retired farmer.

Crow, Jess Conley

Jess Conley Crow, age 84, of Sunday, June 17, 2001 at his home in Centerville, AR. He was born December 30, 1916 in Centerville, AR to the late David and Nanny Crow. He was a cattle farmer, retired from the Yell County Road Department after 33 years and a member of Slaty Crossing Free Will Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Henry, Billy and Clayton Crow and sister, Carious Russell, Lorene Crow and an infant sister.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Sylvia Crow; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Erma Crow of Centerville; two brothers, Harold and Gail Crow both of Centerville; three grandchildren, Kim Brixey, Casa, Kristi Crow, Conway and Keith Crow of Centerville and two great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Joann Crow, age 62 of Austin, TX died Tuesday, June 13, 1995 at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Hospital. She was a member of the Baptist faith, housewife, homemaker and daughter of the late John and Ila Mae Turner Hunt.

Survivors include her husband, Robert D. Crow of Austin, TX; two sons, Robert Crow of Beaumont, TX and Keith Crow of Austin, TX; one daughter, Jonette Yost of Hutchinson, KS; one brother, Holman Hunt of Biloxi, MS; one sister, Wanda McTighe of Herman, MN; also include are four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Joe Crow, age 78, of Dardanelle, AR passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2001. He was born February 18, 1923 in New Blaine, AR to the late Newton and Merdel Crow.

He is survived by his wife Wanda Crow of Dardanelle AR; two sons and daughter-in law, Randy Crow of Dardanelle, AR and Ronald and Doreen Crow of Oklahoma City, OK; one brother, Calvin Brow of Carlsbad, NM; one sister, Melba Hodges of Dardanelle, AR; one grandson Randy Crow, Jr. of Dardanelle, AR.

Crow, Leslie Jerry

Leslie Jerry Crow, age 73, of Dardanelle, AR died Thursday, January 4, 2007. He was born November 15, 1933 at Centerville, AR to the late Leslie H. and Daphna Mashburn Crow. He was a 1952 graduate of Ola High School and continued to attend and support the ball teams and other events after his retirement. He entered the Navy on August 13, 1953 and served his country for 20 years, retiring as Chief Petty Officer. His tours of duty included the Marshall Islands, Adak, Alaska, Kodiak, Alaska two tours, Okinawa two tours, Saipan, Midway Island and Vietnam. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Commendation with Combat "V" and 5 Navy Good Conduct Medals. He was a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ and served as Deacon for over 20 years. He was a retiree of Ironworkers Local 321 and the Boyce-Woods VFW Post 3141 where he served on their Funeral Honors Detail. He and his wife assisted with Meals on Wheels. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers, Benton, Frank, Clarence and Walker Crow and J. R. Biggs and a sister, Wilma Hovis.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Esch Crow; three sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck and Bethany Crow, Tulsa, OK, Terry and Carrie Crow, Collierville, TN and Kevin Crow, Chickasha, OK; a sister, Nora lee Milner, Broken Arrow, OK; six grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was Monday at Dardanelle Church of Christ with Ralph Weinhold officiating. Burial was in Brearley Cemetery with the US Navy and US Air Force rendering full military honors. Linda Crow, 75 of Dardanelle, passed away Saturday, June 07, 2014 at River Valley Medical Center. She was born July 8, 1938 at Dardanelle, Arkansas to the late James Dalton and Aura Lee (Gray) Land. Linda's greatest love was spending time with her family and she also loved to travel.

Survivors include her husband,Tommy Crow; three children, Doug Crow, Debbie and Howard Orsburn, Diane and Doug Cloud; grandchildren, Sara Leavell, Rylan Perryman, Katie Collier, Madison Orsburn, Alyssa, Lance, Andrea, Cory, Rachel, and Clint Crow; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Ann (Jim) Selig, James Andy (Annette) Land, and Billy Mike (Diann) Land.

Lorene Crow, age 91, of Centerville, AR died Wednesday, August 19, 1998 at Benton. She was born June 13, 1907 at Centerville, AR, she was the daughter of the late David and Nannie Vining Crow, a retired employee of Arkansas Valley Industries and a member of Liberty Hall Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by a nephew she raised and his wife, Mark and Betty Crow and their children, Loren and Andrea all of Benton; three brothers, Gail, Harold and Connelly "Jess" Crow of Dardanelle and several other nephews and nieces.

Marie George Crow, age 89 of Dardanelle, AR died Sunday at Dardanelle Hospital. She was born November 20, 1913 in Mt. George the daughter of the late Truly and Lillie Stafford George. She was a nurse's aide at Dardanelle Hospital and St. Mary's Hospital, a mother and homemaker and a member of the First Methodist Church of Dardanelle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Benton Crow, who she married September 29, 1931 at Centerville and a grandson, Claudie Mabry.

Crow, 78, Found Dead In Pond Near Here Services will be held this afternoon for a 78-year-old city resident who was found drowned Friday afternoon in a pond on the farm of his son-in-law and daughter, whom he was visiting. A. L. Crow, of 403 S. Creek was found submerged in water shortly after 4 p.m. Friday by his daughter, Mrs. James Taylor, on the Taylor farm, seven miles east and a half mile south of Holdenville. Relatives said that he had been in ill health recently and was walking around the farm shortly before his death. He was missed by Mrs. Taylor who began searching and a short time later discovered him in the pond. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a local clinic. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Cecil McKenzie officiating. Burial will be in Holdenville cemetery with Hudson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Born January 1, 1876 in Centerville, Ark., he came to Oklahoma in 1913 and lived here since that time.

He was preceded in death by his wife in March of 1952.

Survivors include two sons, Bill, Wewoka; Sam, Holdenville; four daughters, Mrs. Clifford Wood and Mrs. James Taylor, Holdenville; Mrs. Nelson Viall and Mrs. Fred Robinson, both of Tulsa; one sister, Mrs. Ola Scott, Dardanelle, Ark.; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Bearers will be Elmer Lankford, Bill French, Eugene Wood, Kennie Taylor, Earnest Taylor and Earl Clark. Myrtle Lyons Crow, age 87 of Dardanelle, AR died Friday, November 13, 1998 at the Dardanelle Hospital. She was born June 29, 1911 at Carlisle, the daughter of the late Thomas Andrew and Flora Lyons. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruel "Shorty" Crow and two daughters, Marion Joyce Crow and Flora Francis Crow.

Survivors include four sons, Jerry J. Crow, Hoyt Crow and Ronnie L. Crow all of Dardanelle, AR and Thomas R. Crow of Hondo, TX; a daughter, Carolyn E. Swilley of Dardanelle; a sister, Mollie Barger of Nashville, AR; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Crow, Robert E.

Robert E. Crow of Dardanelle died Monday, January 24, 2005 at Dardanelle Hospital. He was born May 8, 1923, to Arthur and Goly Crow. He was a row crop and cattle farmer. He and his family were named 1980 Farm Family of the Year for Yell County. He was a 70-year member of Liberty Hall Methodist Church where he served as Sunday School superintendent. He served as chairman of Yell County Farm Services Committee and was also a member of Carden Bottom School Board. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Crow; a sister, Ava Dean Partridge; a grandson, Jason Thresher; and a niece, Margaret Edwards.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Erma L. Crow; a son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Debbie Crow; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Dale Hon; grandson and spouse, Brad and Melanie Thresher; granddaughters and their spouses, Mandy and Matt McClellan, Erin and Nathan Mills and Sheri and John David Sykes; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Hays Pool of Richardson, TX; a sister-in-law, Emma Crow; several nephews and nieces and seven great-grandchildren that he cherished.

Funeral was held on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel in Dardanelle with the Rev. Floyd Erwin and the Rev. C.L. Haston officiating. Burial was in Harris Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Brad Thresher, Matt McClellan, Nathan Mills, John David Sykes, Bobby Lyons and Arlon Bean. Ruby Dorothy Crow, age 90, of Centerville, AR died Thursday, September 9, 2004 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born May 24, 1914 in Centerville, AR the daughter of the late Samuel and Ola Dunaway Windham. She was a member of Liberty hall United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful mother and friend to all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband Harold Crow; two sons and daughters-in-law, Buddy and Jeanne Crow of Atkins, AR and Gary and Judi Crow of Citrus heights, CA; two daughters and a son-in-law, Madeleine Mosquito of Delaware, AR and Luann and Tom McMillen of Russellville; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a sister Ayleen Duke or Russellville, AR.

Crow, Thelma V. Vandiver

Mrs. Thelma V. Vandiver Crow, age 85, of Austin, TX, died Monday, August 10 at Austin, TX. She was a native of Dardanelle, daughter of the late William Baron and Laura Irene Hovis Vandiver, a retired bookkeeper for Daily Office Furniture and a member of the Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by one son, David Van-diver Crow.

Survivors are one son, Robert Crow of Austin, TX; two brothers, Woodrow Vandiver of Conway and Bill Vandiver of Little Rock; six grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Vida Crow, age 94, of Dardanelle died Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at River Valley Medical Center. She was born October 13, 1922, at Cardon Bottoms to the late Lem and Lillie Holland Carouthers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son; five brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her husband, Barger Crow of Dardanelle; three children, Jackie Woods, Karen Bird, Chester Crow; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at IO:OO A.M., Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle. Visitation was held Friday, 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the chapel. Mrs. Russell Crow, age 21, of Carden Bottom departed this life April 10, 1949 at the St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. Mrs. Crow was formerly Miss Virdel Haston.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. M. J. Brock, of near Dardanelle; four sisters, Mrs. Garrett Dorrough, Paris, Mrs. Robert Crow, Carden Bottom, Mrs. Charles Coal, Cotton Town, Mrs. J. C. Wanda Mae Crow, age 81 of Dardanelle, died Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born September 30, 1926 at New Blaine to the late Bill and Rilla Wood Jones. She was a home maker and a member of the First Freewill Baptist Church in Dardanelle.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Rilla Wood Jones; husband of 55 years; Joe Crow; sister, Thelma Perry; brothers, Billy W. Jones, Harold R. Jones, Wendell D. Jones; granddaughter, Tracy Crow.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ronald and Doreen Crow of Oklahoma, City, OK, Randy Crow of Dardanelle; grandson, Randy Crow Jr. of Russellville; sister-in-law, Melba Hodges of Dardanelle; numerous other family and friends.

Funeral service was held April 21, 2008 at the First Free Will Baptist Church, Dardanelle with Rev. Jared Higginbotham officiating. Burial was held in Elizabeth Cemetery in New Blaine. Crowe, Clara R.

Clara R. Crowe, age 88, died Wednesday, April 18, 2001 at the Rosewood Care Center in Alton, IL. She was born November 5, 1912 in Dardanelle, AR, daughter of the late James Henry and Mary Frenchie Marler Crow. She was employed at the Olin Brass Mill as a machinist for 36 years retiring in 1977. She attended the Bethalto United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Leotta McConnell.

Survivors include, a sister, Dorotha Kappler, Bethalto, IL; four nephews, Bruce D. McConnell, Dardanelle, AR, Harold Kappler, Bethalto, IL, Michael Kappler, Rolla, MO and Roger Kappler, Bethalto, IL and 10 great-nieces and nephews.

Crowe, Emma

Emma Crowe, a devoted mother, memmie and friend to many, age 74, of Dardanelle died Monday, July 10, 2006 at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born June 20, 1932 at Russellville to the late Jefferson Montgomery and Velma Urene Williamson Keltner. She retired as a cook from the Dardanelle School after 30 plus years of service.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Lloyd Russell Crowe; brother, Billy Keltner; sister, Jewell Gritman and a grandchild.

Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Cheryl Crowe of Rudy, Jerry and Debbie Crowe, Brian and Jackie Crowe all of Dardanelle; three brothers, James Leonard Keltner of Mabelvale, J. M. Keltner of Benton, Robert Keltner of Benton; sister, Mildred Dixon of Mabelvale; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services was held Thursday, July 13, 2006 at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle. Interment was in Brearley Cemetery. Pallbearers were Shane Crowe, Dusty Crowe, Matt Crowe, Justin Crowe, Cliff Shipman and Clay Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers were Jamie Shipman, Chaz Crowe and Dusty Crowe. Lois Cleo Cannon Duncan Crowe, age 103, of Danville passed away Friday, March 24, 2017, at Mitchell's Nursing Home. She was born April 15, 1913, in Chickalah, Arkansas to the late Ben & Avo Howard Cannon. Lois was a member of the Danville Church of Christ, a longtime member of the Ladies Auxiliary, and was a homemaker. She loved to sew and quilt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, John Warren "Bus" Duncan and Alvin "Jim" Crowe; brother, Sterl Cannon and sister, Velma Cannon Martin Doyle.

Survivors include her nephews, Ronnie & Dixie Cannon of Havana; Jimmy & Judy Cannon of Murfreesboro; niece, Shirley Thomas of Winslow; numerous nieces and nephews who loved her very much.

Joyce Farrow Crownover, 93, of Norman died on Monday, August 30, 2004 at Whispering Pines Nursing Home. She was born January 16, 1911 to Thomas Hannibal and Sarah Ella Grant-Farrow in Belleville, Yell County Arkansas. She graduated from Belleville High School. She moved to Norman and married E. F. "Bub" Crownover. She worked at Ford Motor Company for a few years before working at Greenleaf Grocery and attended church at Trinity Baptist and Berry Road Baptist.

She was preceded by her husband; her parents; a son Thomas Crownover; a daughter, Anna Jo Crownover Belden; a sister, Vernie Beatrice Farrow Keathley; and a brother, Joe Farrow.

She is survived by her son, William Crownover of Idaho Falls, Idaho; granddaughters, Maria Jane Williams of Rudy, Arkansas, Annette Barnett and her husband, Barnie of Chandler; grandsons, James Belden, Mark Belden both of Norman; eight great grandchildren; and other family members and friends.

Services for will be held at 2:00 p. m. Thursday at Lower Spring Creek Cemetery, under the direction of Primrose Funeral Service.
