Drew, Flora N.

Flora N. Drew, age 91 of Hot Springs, died Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at Saint Josephs Mercy Medical Center in Hot Springs. She was born February 27, 1918 in Canada to the late David and Sara Jane Carver.

She is preceded in death by a son, Deward R. Noble, Sr.; two grandsons, Steven and Karl Ray Noble.

Drewry, Leroy

Leroy Drewry, age 79 of Dardanelle, died Thursday, March 4, 2010 at Conway Regional Health System. He was born July 20, 1930 at Paris to the late Roy and Isa Parsons Drewry. He was a member of the Chickalah Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mildred Carter; a brother, Bob Gatlin and a great-grandson, Canyon Steele Drewry.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary Drewry of Dardanelle; two sons, Don Drewry and Roy Drewry both of Dardanelle; sisters, Elemeda Cleveland, Laverne Ward of Dardanelle; brother, Charles Gatlin of Harrison; three grandchildren, Tammie Drewry of Russellville, Brad Drewry and Brent Drewry of Dardanelle; four great-grandchildren, Austin and Keagan Thorpe, Landon and Dallen Drewry all of Dardanelle.

Duggar, Herman Nathaniel

Herman Nathaniel Duggar, age 85 of Plainview, died January 26, 2010 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. He was born May 13, 1924 in Ola, AR to the late Ollin and Delia Patterson Duggar. He was a member of the Plainview First Baptist Church for 61 years, Deacon for 57 years and a member of Fisher-Law Mason Lodge 8525, Plainview, for 59 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, James Duggar.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Ruby Jewel Bull Dug gar; son, David Duggar; daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Donald Walker of Ola; brother, Jessie Duggar of Delaware; sisters, Lorene Walston of Mena, Louise May of Visalia, CA; grandchildren, Adam Duggar of Coal City, IL, Tiffany and Char lie Watkins and Whitney Walker of Ola; great-grandchildren, Eli Whitworth, Jakayla Walker, Zayne Paul Watkins, all of Ola.

Funeral services were held Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Plainview with Rev. Monroe Hunt and Rev. Donald Walker officiating. Masonic Rites were at the church. Burial was in Russell Cemetery in Belleville. Pallbearers were Monty Hunt, Bruce Jackson, Josh Crites, Doug Forrest, Donnie Burnham, and Joe Taylor. Dugger, Ruby Nell (Roberts)

Ruby Nell Geurian Dugger, 88, of Paducah, Kentucky, formerly of Dardanelle, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at her home. She was born December 10, 1922 at Dardanelle, Arkansas to the late Fleming and Sarah Adcock Roberts. She was of the Presbyterian faith and was retired from Phillips Petroleum Co. and had also worked at Bell South in Overland Park, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gus Geurian and her second husband, C. Leo Dugger; one sister and two brothers.

Survivors include one son Gus Geurian (Meriam) of Paducah, Kentucky; one step son, Doug Dugger (Joyce) of Overland Park, Kansas; two brothers, Junior Roberts and J. D. Roberts both of Dardanelle, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Duke, Delena (McBride) Gant

Delena Gant Duke of Magnolia, AR was called home to be with the Lord on September 29, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne and Alma McBride of Havana, AR, three brothers, Robert Dodd, Guinn McBride, and LaWayne McBride, her first husband Hilton Gant of Nashville, AR, second husband Albert Duke of Magnolia, AR, and her son Kevin Gant of Nashville.

Her survivors include her sister Dolores McBride, son Keith Gant (Janet), grandchildren Matthew Gant (Adele) and Rachel Gant Newman (Paul), great grandchildren Serenity and Keegan Gant and Charlee Newman, and a number of nephews and nieces, step-sons and step-grandchildren. Delena was born in Havana, AR on December 31, 1926. As a teenager she was crowned queen of Yell County. She graduated from Havana High School in 1945 and was class valedictorian. Immediately after graduation she went to Washington, D.C. and worked for the summer across the street from the White House. In 1949 she graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College (now University of Central Arkansas) with a bachelor's degree in Home Economics. She then taught Home Economics at Mansfield High School until her marriage to Hilton Gant of Greenwood in 1950. They settled in Nashville, AR where she lived through 1984. In all their years together they never once spoke an unkind word or with a raised voice to each other. God was always the center of her life. In her 35 years at Nashville she was a member of the Sunset Church of Christ, where she was extremely active and hard-working in the children's Bible school program as a teacher and supervisor. Future preachers, missionaries, and elders heard many Bible stories as children at her feet. She was also a popular speaker at area-wide teacher training workshops. In 1980-81 Delena exhibited great faith and strength when, over about a year's time, she had to face the loss of her mother, father, younger son, and husband. In 1984 she married Albert Duke and moved to Magnolia, where she spent her remaining years. There she was a member of the Jackson St. Church of Christ, where she was well known and loved as a friend and helper to many who were less fortunate or in need. She was also a generous supporter of good works; many orphans, starving children, and missionaries were blessed by her. All who knew her remember her as being so full of life and friendliness, yet with a gentle spirit. She will be greatly missed but forever remembered.

Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Thursday at Bailey Funeral Home in Magnolia. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the Jackson St. Church of Christ with Brian Mickey officiating. A graveside service will follow at 4:30 pm at Restland Memorial Park in Nashville, AR under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home in Magnolia. James Thomas Duke, age 70 of Danville, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2010 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. He was born April 11, 1940 in Little Rock, AR to the late James Cecil and Lillian Bernice Walter Duke.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Carolyn Sue Duke.

Dumas, Kenneth Wayne

March 1, 1962 - August 3, 2012 Kenneth Wayne Dumas of El Dorado went to be with his Lord on Friday, August 3, 2012 at the age of 50. He was born March 1, 1962 in El Dorado, AR to Ralph and Patricia Ann (Cassity) Dumas. Kenneth was a Purchasing Manager for Graphic Packaging International in West Monroe. He was also of the Church of Christ Faith. Kenneth loved the outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing, going to the lake or volunteering with the Boy Scouts. But his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed watching his girls at the ballet recitals. Duncan, Mattie Bernice

Mattie Bernice Duncan, 78, of Dardanelle, formerly of Quitman, died Saturday, August 14, 2004 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born December 1, 1925 in Griffithville to the late Troy Pet Boggan and Lillie Mae Story Boggan. She was a retired English teacher from Wilburn High School and a member of the United Methodist Church in Dardanelle. While a resident of Quitman, she was a former mayor, a member of Quitman United Methodist Church and active in the Lion's Club. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Winfred C. Duncan; four brothers, Robert, William, Clarence and Tommy Boggan, and one sister, Mamie Phillips.

Survivors include a daughter and a son-in-law, Linda and Robert Nachtweh of Russellville; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Shawn Duncan of Dardanelle; four granddaughters, Lisa Flowers, Jessica Duncan, Lyndsay Duncan and Amy Duncan; two sisters, Jean Holt of Paris, Texas, and Melba O'Brien of Searcy; a brother, James Boggan of Forrest City, and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral was held at the United Methodist Church in Quitman, with the Rev. Floyd Ervin officiating. Burial followed at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Quitman. R. O. (Omar) Duncan, 80, of Danville died September 1, in the hospital in Danville. He was a retired cattleman and former manager of the Danville Sale Barn. Mr. Duncan was a former member of the Danville School Board.

Mrs. Grace Pugh Dunlap, age 79, of Rover, died Monday evening, April 8, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. She was a housewife, a native of the Bluffton Community, a daughter of the late Cecil and Laura Hogan Mauberry, Mrs. Dunlap was a member of the Rover Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sons, Homer Pugh of Mt. Vernon, Tex., Erchel Pugh of Upland, Calif. W, T. Mrs. Beda Beach of San Mateo, Calif. Mrs. Cleo Prince of Little Rock, and Mrs. Jean Briley of Lufkin; one sister, Mrs. Verda Harris of Rover; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Carmel I. Dunn, age 94 of Dardanelle, AR died Saturday, December 30, 2000 at the Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. She was a daughter of the late Millard and Mattie Martin Abbott and a member of the Baptist Church in Centerville, AR.

Survivors include, one daughter, Julia Measles of Searcy, AR; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many, many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three husbands, Lester Knoles, Walter Smith and Coy Dunn; one son, James Herbert "Hub" Smith; one brother, Oren Abbot and three sisters, Loretta Abbott, Beaulah Robinson and Wilma Gillean.
