Doty, Hazel

Hazel Doty, age 97, of Dardanelle, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at Dardanelle Hospital. She was born April 9, 1906 in Dardanelle to the late Prescott and Mary E. Squires Howe. She was a homemaker and a member of the Dardanelle Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Bill Finley and Lester Doty; three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors are a sister, Ruth Standley of Sulpher, OK; one nephew and three nieces.

Anna Lou Douglas, age 83, of Plainview, passed away Monday February 25, 2013, in Dardanelle, Arkansas. Anna was born September 17, 1929 in Lonoke County, Arkansas to the late D.C. and Ruth Faulkner Carpenter. She enjoyed gardening, painting, jewelry making and fishing. She was a member of the Plainview First Baptist Church, the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary in Plainview, a lifetime member and State Commander of Chapter # 7 for the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary; she was also on the Board for the Handicapped for the State of Arkansas under Governor Winthrop Rockefeller.

Anna was preceded in death by her loving husband C.A. Douglas, Sr., daughter Brenda Douglas, son Terry Dean Douglas, grandson Eric Davis, granddaughter Roslyn Reeves and great-grandson J.J. Spencer.

Survivors include son, C.A. Douglas, Jr. of Plainview, daughters Judy Buda of Arizona, Patricia Henson of Jonesboro, Rhonda Converse of North Little Rock, brother Carl Carpenter of Little Rock, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

C. A. Douglas age 75 of Plainview died Tuesday, February 14, 2006 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. He was born July 28, 1930 at North Little Rock, AR to the late Amion B. and Alma Beckerman Douglas. He was a member of the V. F. W. in Plainview, American Legion in Little Rock, Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Little Rock and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He is preceded in death by a son, Terry Dean Douglas; a daughter, Brenda K. Douglas; brother, Frank Douglas; grandchildren, Roslyn Reeves and Eric Davis.

Survivors include his wife, Anna L. Carpenter Douglas of Plainview; son, C. A. Douglas, Jr. of Plainview; daughters, Judy Buda of Tucson, AZ, Patricia Henson of Jonesboro, Rhonda Reeves of North Little Rock; brothers, Amion Gene Douglas of CA, Gerald Douglas of Mayflower; sisters, Elizabeth Crownover of Winchester, TN; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Donnie Lee Douglas, age 59 of Casa, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Chambers Memorial Hospital.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Reba Douglas and a brother, Ronnie Douglas.

Mrs. Grace E. Douthit, age 95, of Russellville, AR departed this life on August 9, 2002 in Russellville. She was born March 23, 1907 in Hollis, AR the daughter of the late Robert and Josephine Martin Ballew. She was a homemaker and member of the Valley Home Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Douthit, Sr., three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Survivors are, three sons, Hershel Douthit, Sr. of Pine Bluff, AR, Delbert E. Douthit, Jr. of Mer Rouge, LA and Harold D. Douthit of Watson, AR; two daughters, Cora A. Humphreys and Betty J. Douthit, Lois Hunnicutt

Lois Hunnicutt Douthit, 84, of Carlisle, Arkansas, formerly of Pine Bluff, died Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Chambers Nursing Center in Carlisle. Mrs. Douthit was born May 22, 1921 in Gravelly, Arkansas to the late Will and Maude Smith Hunnicutt. She grew up and received her early education in Gravelly, graduating from Fourche Valley High School in 1939. Mrs. Douthit married her husband, Emmit, April 21, 1941, in Gravelly, where they lived until 1944. The Douthit lived in Russellville from 1944-1968, when they moved to Pine Bluff, Arkansas and then moved to be near their daughter in Carlisle in 1998. Mrs. Douthit was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a licensed beautician, and a talented poet. She was trained and skilled in the making of ladies hats and an excellent designer and dressmaker. She and her husband also enjoyed their small vegetable and flower gardens.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Dowdy (James) of Carlisle, two grandsons, Garrett Dowdy (Ellen) of Nixa, MO and Dustin Dowdy (Teffany) of Roswell, GA, four great grandchildren, two brothers, Wayne Hunnicutt of Gravelly and Leo Hunnicutt of Danville.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph, Coy, Cletis, Bruce, Owen, and sisters, Neomia, Vivian, Pearl, Mrytle, and Allie Lee.

Mrs. Douthits funeral was held at Nola Church of Christ, Saturday, January 6, 2006 at 2:00 p. m. with Mr. Dan Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Parks Cemetery by Ralph Robinson and Son Funeral Directors of Pine Bluff. Memorials may be made to Palm Street Church of Christ, Lonoke, Arkansas. Thomas "Loyd" Douthit, age 86, of Gravelly, AR died Tuesday, July 29, 2003 at his home. He was born June 10, 1917 at Gravelly, AR, the son of the late Clyde and Bulah Yates Douthit. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII and a member of the Fourche Valley Volunteer Fire Department and Church of Christ. He had a sense of humor and loved children and treated all the nieces and nephews as if each was the most important.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Allie Gwin Douthit.

Survivors include two brothers, Floyd Douthit of Ft. Smith and Emmit Douthit of Lonoke; three sisters-in-law, Lois Douthit of Lonoke, Beatrice Garner Yeats of Gravely and Eunice Kendrice of Pickens, AR; one brother-in-law, Troy Lee Gwin and thirteen nephews and nieces.

Dow, Cecil Francis

Cecil Francis Dow, age 81 of the Grace Living Center in Tulsa, OK died Friday, November 28, 2003. He was a former resident of Ola, AR for 12 years. He was born in Urermopolis, WY to Martin and Martha Dow on March 5, 1922. He had worked for a lumberyard for 25 years in California and then worked for Rhor Aircraft for 27 1/2 years and then moved to Arkansas in 1977 with his daughter. He was a member of the LDS Church since 1929 and was an Eagle Club and owner of Dow's Saw Shop.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth E. Dow, his parents and 14 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Jimmy Moore of Ola, AR; step-daughter, Ivanne Hanford of Tulsa, OK; four grandsons; one granddaughter; two step grandsons; four step granddaughters; 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Dow, Ethelyn (Lane)

Ethelyn Lane Dow, age 88, of Danville passed away Monday, August 6, 2012 at the Hospice Home Care Inpatient Facility in Little Rock after a brief illness. She was a lifelong resident of Yell County, born February 19, 1924 in the Cedar Creek community to Tommie and Grace Martin Lane. Mrs. Dow was employed by the ASCS (now Farm Services Agency) for 43 years, proudly serving the famers of Yell County. Throughout her adult life, she was an active supporter and participant in various professional, community and church organizations, often assuming roles of responsibility. She was an active member of the Danville United Methodist Church, was a member of United Methodist Women for more the 50 years, attended the Sarah Freeman Sunday School class and served on numerous committees. Mrs. Dow was a member of the Order of Easter Star for more than 50 years and was an active member of the Ola Chapter #386 at the time of her death. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Yell County Cancer Board. During her working career, she was an active participant in the Business and Professional Women's Organization, being named the woman of the year in 1980. She gave selflessly of her time and talents for family, friends or anyone in need and was a humble servant in all areas of her life. Her caretaking will be greatly missed. Mrs.

Dow was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Roy Dow; her parents; her brother, Richard Lane, and her niece, Selena Kitchens.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Helen and Robert Forrest, Sr.; her grandson, Robert Forrest, Jr. "Bob" all of Little Rock. She is also survived by 4 nieces, Sharon Harp and Lana Davis of Morrilton, Ada Sue Smith of Dardanelle, Rosa Mae Toenjes of Cuero, Texas and 4 nephews, Tommy Lane and Larry Lane of Havana, C.L. Smith of Little Rock and Jerry Smith of Danville and many great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service was August 10, 2012 at the Danville United Methodist Church with Reverend Tom Sullinger presiding. Burial was at Russell Cemetery. Joe Dowdy, 65, of Russellville, died Saturday, October 23, 2004 at his home. The son of the late Monroe and Jewel (Hughes) Dowdy, he was born September 8, 1939, in Russellville. He married Dorthyelene Dixon on September 8, 1956 at Russellville. He served in the U. S. National Guard and was a heavy equipment operator during his working life. He was a member of the Damacus Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife, Dorthyelene; five daughters, Debra Persons and husband, Jerry of Dardanelle; Sheila Hilburn of Dardanelle, Kathy Chisum, Russellville, Freda Denney and husband, Kenny, Brenda Odgers and husband, John all of Russellville; five grand children Stacy Nason, Tesia Chisum, Joseph Dale, Daniel Denney, Keith Parsons; five great grandchildren Erica Dale, Thomas Dale, Sarah and Anna Dale and Joseph Dale; two sisters Ellen Hurst and husband, Bobby of Moreland and Ruby Secrest of Russellville; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be at 2:00 p. m. Wednesday, October 27 at Humphrey Chapel. Reverend Ronnie Birge and Reverend Wilma Whorton will officiate. Burial will be at Pisgah Cemetery at Pottsville. Dowdy, Roy Dean

Roy Dean Dowdy, age 66, of Russellville died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 in Russellville. He was born August 21, 1944 at Earlimart, California to the late John B. and Ollie B. Williams Dowdy. He was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church and retired Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Vada Faye Dowdy of Russellville; two daughters, Laura A. & Roger Bailey of Durham, NC, Brenda J. Doyle, Luther Leroy

Luther Leroy Doyle, 67 of Rover, died Thursday, January 14, 2010 at Rover, Arkansas. Born December 16, 1942 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Luther Persh-ing and Margie Marie Dickson Doyle. He retired from the Army with the rank of Major and was a graduate from the University of Oregon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Kinga Maria Doyle.

Drager, Mary "Ruth" Belle Holliday

Mary "Ruth" Belle Holliday Drager, age 88 of Danville, died Monday, November 6, 2006 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was born in Xenia, OH on September 17, 1918 to Milton Howard and Amy Louella Grooms Hilderbrand. She was the youngest of 10 children. All of her other siblings have preceded her in death. She was of the Nazerene Faith, a mother, and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Tom Holliday and Art Drager; a son, Robert Holliday; and two daughters, Wanda Sue Holliday and Carol Stewart.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Yvonne Holliday of Rush County, Indiana; three daughters and sons-in-law, Connie and Richard Milligan of Mena, Beverly and Warren Pickens of Chickalah Mt. and Kim Holliday of Albuquerque, NM; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Mr. William "Ike" Drain, age 90 of Danville, IA died Thursday, December 17th, 1998 at his home. He was a former resident of Plainview, AR, a son of Marvin H. and Jessie Henderson Drain. He was a truck driver for the Teamsters Union, a member of the Teamster Union and a member of Farm Bureau. He retired in 1964.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise B. Hick Drain in 1986; his parents; three sons; two grandchildren; six brothers and one sister.

He is survived by seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Mabel Basket of Peoria, IL and his companion of 10 years, Youtha Graham.

Ruby Nell Geurian Dugger, 88, of Paducah, Kentucky, formerly of Dardanelle, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at her home. She was born December 10, 1922 at Dardanelle, Arkansas to the late Fleming and Sarah Adcock Roberts. She was of the Presbyterian faith and was retired from Phillips Petroleum Co. and had also worked at Bell South in Overland Park, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gus Geurian and her second husband, C. Leo Dugger; one sister and two brothers.

Survivors include one son Gus Geurian (Meriam) of Paducah, Kentucky; one step son, Doug Dugger (Joyce) of Overland Park, Kansas; two brothers, Junior Roberts and J. D. Roberts both of Dardanelle, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
