Howard Medford Culwell, Sr. age 78, of Ola, AR died Sunday, September 17, 2000 at the Yell County Nursing Home in Ola, AR. He was born September 21, 1921 in Imo, Searcy County, AR to the late Charles and Cloe Housley Culwell. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a member of the VFW. He was a deacon and member of the First Baptist Church of Ola.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catha Lea Pennington Culwell.
Survivors are, his son, Howard M. Culwell, Jr. of Ola, AR; step-son, Dr. Jerry L. Potts of Little Rock, AR; stepdaughter, Marilyn McMillan of Cabot, AR; three brothers, Gilbert Culwell of Little Rock, AR, Gene Culwell and J. R. Culwell both of Hector, AR; three sisters, Eva Bower and Shirley Weatherly both of Russellville, AR and Nell Anderson of Hector, AR; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Services will be today, Wednesday, September 20, 2000 at 1:00 p. m. Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. Jackie Townsell, Rev. Dean Housley and Rev. Rick. Balentine officiating. Patricia Ann Cumberland, age 42, of Russellville, died Thursday, September 9, 2010. She was born September 1, 1968 to Carlos Plumley and Bethel Lewandowski.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Cumberland of Russellville; mother, Bethel Lewandowski and husband, Tom of Ecorse, Michigan; father, Carlos Plumley and wife, Rita of Ola; children, Carla Plumley, Hadi Plumley and John Plumley; brothers, Lee Plumley of Wyandott, Michigan, John Plumley of Fowlersville, Michigan, Jimmy Lively of Ola; sister, Carolyn McCowan of Ecorse, Michigan; three grandchildren and a host of family and friends.

David Franklin Cumbie, aged 91, of Ft. Worth, Texas died January 7 in a Ft. Worth hospital. He was a native of Alabama and for many years was a resident of Yell County. He was a retired cabinet maker and a Baptist.
Survivors include a son, Earnest Cumbie; a daughter Inez Cumbie, and grandson, Leland Cumbie, all of Ft. Worth; one granddaughter, Mrs. LeRoy Morgan of Yucaipa, Calf; one sister, Mrs. J. P. Sherman Leroy Cumbie, age 48, of Dardanelle died Wednesday, May 29, 2002. He was born December 6, 1953 in Russellville. He was an Army veteran and employed by Tyson Foods, Dardanelle.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Vance Cumbie.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Bradbury Cumbie; his father, Gerald Archer of Kansas City, KS; his mother, Geraldine Smith Bush of Russellville and his adoptive father, James Cumbie of Dover; and three sisters, Beverly Cumbie of Little Rock, Tammy Cumbie of Abilene, TX and Sandra Warhurst of Dover and a number of nephews and nieces.
Graveside services were at 2:00 p. m. Saturday, June 1, 2002 at North New Hope Cemetery, Hwy 333 north of Dover with Rev. Joyce Turner officiating. Woodrow Cumbie, age 81, of Dardanelle, AR, died, Tuesday, September 13, 1994 at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. He was a native of Aly, AR, son of the late James Henry Cumbie and the late Cordie McCormick Cumbie. He was a retired farmer and construction worker. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II, a 32nd Degree Mason, being a member of Masonic Lodge No. 17 at Dover, was a member of the Western Arkansas Scottish Rite Bodies of Ft. Smith and the American Legion Post No. 20. He was a member of the Faith Church, Inc. in Dardanelle.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Willie Cumbie; a son, Herman Albert Cumbie; three brothers, George, Vestal and Burl Cumbie; and a sister, Ella Fay Houston.
Survived by his wife, Josephine Cumbie; two sons, James Cumbie of Little Rock and Paul Cumbie of Scottsville, AR; one daughter, Laverne Johnson of Dover; a stepdaughter, Claudette Spann of Texas; one sister, Mittie Slaughter of Dover; 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.

Jerry Arrand Cummings of Danville, AR passed away November 25, 1997 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Little Rock from congestive heart failure. He was born April 8, 1942 in Cooper, TX to Arnold W. and Rubylee Davidson Cummings. He was a 1960 graduate of Cooper High School and attended Texas A&M University and worked in California and Arkansas as a machinist. He retired in 1994 from Grandeur Fastners in Danville, AR. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Danville.
He is survived by daughter, Kathleen Cummings of Danville; step-daughter, Michelle Allen of Danville; step-daughter, Jeannette Middleton of Poteau, OK; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Norma Cummings of Garland, TX; sister and brother-in-law. Joy and Ron Hawkins of Lubbock, TX; father, A. W. Cummings of Wichita Falls, TX; four nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services were conducted by Delta Funeral Home on November 28, 1997 in the Chapel with Rev. Robert Baldridge of Greenville officiating. Burial was in the Oaklawn Cemetery. Wanda L. Cummings, Miami resident, died at home late Tuesday evening, July 29, 2008. She was 63. She was born December 31, 1944 in Phoenix, AZ to Boyd and Louise (Nance) Mason. She had resided in Miami since 2005, coming from Roland, OK. Prior to that, she lived in Danville, AR for several years. She worked as the manager of the Route 66 Motel in Afton.
She is survived by three daughters, Jeanette Mason and Kathleen Cummings, both of Miami and Michelle Mason of Catoosa; five brothers, Robert Mason of Grove, Don Mason of Albuquerque, NM, Edwin Mason of Spring Grove, PA, Hank Mason of Murphys, CA, and Ralph Mason of Anaheim, CA; a sister, Darlene Saum of Anaheim, CA and one grandson.

Arthur Loyd Cunningham (1922 2009) - Loyd was born on August 25, 1922 and passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2009.
He is survived by his wife Fretta.
Loyd was last known to be living in Plainview, Arkansas. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II where he received the Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, AP Theater Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2009, at the Plainview Church of Christ with Mr. Bob Fallen officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Veterans of Foreign War Boyce-Woods Post 3141, will be in the Salem Cemetery near Plainview, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service. Lance Cunningham, age 19, of Plainview, AR died Friday, September 6, 2002 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. He was born June 29, 1983 in Little Rock, AR to Jimmy and Kerry Dickey Cunningham. He was a 2001 graduate of Plainview-Rover High School where he was in FFA, and a member of the Plainview Panther Basketball team. He attended the University of Arkansas Community College in Morrilton and the Plainview Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, J. L. "Smokey Cunningham and Randall Dickey.

He was a cattle farmer and a member of the Plainview Church of Christ, a former member of the Plainview City Council, a former member of the Arkansas Cattleman's Association and was a United States Army Veteran of World War II where he received the Victory Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, AP Theater Ribbon and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon.

Susan Temple Cunningham, age 53, of Clarksville, AR died Sunday, August 11, 2002 at Johnson Regional Medical Center. She was born October 15, 1948 at Clarksville, AR, the daughter of the late Carroll "Cotton" and Helen Harmon Havener. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, counselor at Ozark Jr. High School, Ozark, AR, member of Beta Sigma Phi and the Junior Auxiliary and she was selected to the Daughters of American Revolution DAR).
She was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Lawless.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Cunningham; a daughter, Casey Cunningham of Clarksville; a son, Brad Cunningham of Clarksville and a sister, Mikey Wiley of Van Buren, AR.

She was the daughter of the late Scott Rex and Vera Beatrice Clark Roberts. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dardanelle.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, T. A. Cunningham; son, Martin Lee Segrestrom; great-grandson, Thomas Trey Lewallen; brother, James Roberts and sisters, Maxine Martin and Janice Forst.

Mrs. Zena Dale Curry, age 85, of Briggsville, AR died Monday, May 13, 1996 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was born in Briggsville November 14, 1910 daughter of the late William and Mary Ladd Hunt. She was a homemaker, member of the Briggsville Methodist Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She was the widow of E. H. "Ned" Curry.
Survivors include one brother Joe Hunt and sisters-in-law, Mary Hunt and Imogene Hunt of Briggsville and several nieces and nephews.

Dora Lee Curtis, age 74, of Maumelle, AR died Thursday, October 14, 1999 in Little Rock, AR. She was a native of the Havana area, daughter of the late Mike and Estelle Craig Conley. She was a member of the Crystal Hill Assembly of God Church.
She was preceded in death by, her husband, Troy; two daughters; two sisters; a half-sister and four brothers.
Survivors include, her son, Robert Curtis of Maumelle, AR; a step-daughter, Norma Able of Bigelow, AR; two step-sons, Jim Curtis of Mablevale, AR and Gary Curtis of Benton, AR; a brother, Tom Conley of Mtn. 3 Year-Old Girl Dies -Investigation Is Underway- A doublewide mobile home that caught fire in Belleville early in the morning of August 15, 2008 was the scene of a fatality when one of the occupants, Ivy Madison Curtis, age 3, died in the fire. Belleville Fire Department arrived on the scene to find two rooms on fire. The fire was quickly extinguished according to Fire Chief Kenny Jackson who said the child was in the room where the fire began.
The other occupants escaped from the fire and were not injured. Yell County Deputy Coroner Kathy Gillespie pronounced the three year old girl dead at 4:30 a. m. The house was being occupied by Danny Furr and Holly Keeney Curtis (the mother of the deceased), and Ivy Curtis. Ivys father is Terry Curtis of Ohio. Chief Jackson said that an investigation into the fire was being conducted by the State Police and Yell County Sheriff personnel. Several hours after the fire, three State Police investigators, Bill Glover, Stacie Rhoads, and Joe Carter, along with Chief Jackson and sheriff personnel were at the fire scene. Yell County Sheriff Bill Gilkey and several other sheriff personnel and other officers were at the scene shortly after the fire was reported. CID investigator John Foster said the body of the little girl was sent to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy. Belleville had five units with 13 firemen and Danville assisted with one truck and 10 firemen. Also on scene was Yell County EMS and Entergy. Chief Jackson said he wanted to thank all of the firemen who assisted at the fire, along with the police, EMS personnel and coroners office. The doublewide trailer was located on Wilson Road in Belleville.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time. Ivy Madison Curtis, age 3 of Belleville, died Friday, August 15, 2008 at her home. She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Rita Gribsy.
Survivors include her mother, Holly Keeney Curtis; father, Terry Curtis; sisters, Claire Curtis and Katina Curtis of Plainview; grandfather, John Keeney of Plainview; and great-grandmother, Paralee Keeney of Danville.

Madelyn Ellis Curtiss, age 87, of Dardanelle, AR died Tuesday, February 8, 2000 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was a daughter of the late Capt. Jeff and Pearl Miks Ellis and widow of Lt. Col Worth M. Curtiss, she was a graduate of Dardanelle High School and Saint Paul's School of Nursing at Dallas. She was an Army nurse, achieving the rank of first lieutenant and was stationed at Fort Hood, TX and served with the 124 Evacuation Hospital in France and Germany. She was an American Red Cross nurse for 40 years and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3141, Arkansas Federation of Garden Clubs and Dardanelle Garden Club and a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include, a daughter, Judith L. Bost of Dardanelle; a brother, Jeff Ellis, Jr. of Newport; two sisters, Adele Crocker of Russellville and Emma Desilet of Concordia, KN and several nephews and nieces.

Earline Fox Cyrus, age 87, of Temple, died at her residence. She was born in Arkansas to J. A. Fox and Laura Haney Fox. She was married to Clyde H. Cyrus on Dec. 27, 1933 and lived most of her life in Cherokee. She and her husband, who preceded her in death on February 3, 1995 owned a Guaranty Abstract office in Cherokee. She taught history at Waller Jr. High School in Enid, OK. She attended Oklahoma State University and graduated from Northwestern University in Alva, OK. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and the PEO in Cherokee, where she lived prior to moving to Temple in 1993.
Survivors include her son, Kenneth Cyrus of Naples, FL; three daughters, Shirley Gaines of Temple, Sylvia Gyrus of Cherokee and Dr. Cathrine Cyrus of Avon, CT; a sister, Georgia Parker of Danville, AR and nine grandchildren. Service was held at the First United Methodist Church in Cherokee, OK with the Rev. Roland Youngberg officiating.

Lillie Ruth Dabbs, age 81, of Little Rock, AR, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2007 in Little Rock. She was born April 11, 1925, in Carlsbad, N. M. to the late Granville and Bernice Castleberry Caviness. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family
She is preceded in death by her husband, Stewart R. Dabbs, as well as her brother, John D. Caviness and sister, Dorothy L. Caviness.
Survivors include her daughters, Carol & Fred Belote of Jacksonville and Melissa & Mike Compton of Little Rock, brother, Kenneth L. & Vanessa Caviness of Los Angeles, CA, three grandchildren; four great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Stewart Richard Dabbs, age 81, of Little Rock, AR died Friday, October 31, 1997. He was born in Little Rock where he graduated from Little Rock High School, later receiving his B. A. degree from Hendrix College in 1937. After his involvement in World War II as a Captain in the army, in a tank destroyer unit, he returned to Little Rock beginning his career with the 555 Wholesale Appliance Company working there for 28 years before his retirement. He was very active with his church, St. Paul United Methodist. He succumbed after an eight year battle with Alzheimer s at the North Little Rock Veteran's Hospital where he received the finest of care by the staff of Unit 1-D.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie Ruth Caviness Dabbs of Little Rock; two daughters, Carol and her husband, Fred Belote of Jacksonville, AR and Melissa and her husband, Mike Compton of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Lisa and Cary Belote, Leslie Dunn and her husband, David and one great grandchild, Nathan Dunn.
A memorial service was held Tuesday at St. Paul United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. John Christie. Burial of remains will be 11:00 a. m. at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Briggsville, AR Saturday, November 8, 1997. NEWTON, Iowa - Clyvon Oley Dacus, 44, a native of Yell County and a former Dardanelle resident, died October 23, 1980 in an Iowa hospital. He was a truck driver, a son of Mrs. Grace Shockley Dacus, Dardanelle, and the late Walter Dacus.

Edna Lee Dooly Dacus, age 87, of Little Rock, AR died Saturday, August 17, 2002. She was born November 29, 1914 in Belleville, AR to the late Dr. J. A. and Roxie Sugg Dooly. She was a retired registered nurse for the Missouri Pacific Hospital, a member of the Life Line Baptist Church, where she played piano for her Sunday School Class for several years. She was a 1933 Belleville High School graduate.

Leo L. Dale, age 84, of Danville, AR died Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born September 28, 1919 in Yell County to the late Ernest and Maggie Gandy Dale. He retired after thirty five years as a program assistant with Agriculture, Stabilization and Conservation Service USDA and was a member of the Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Selma Smith Dale; a brother, Selba Dale and a sister Johnnie Grace Hester.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis "Jeannie" and Robert Mudd of Lake Jackson, TX; a granddaughter, Lyndsay Shannon Mudd of Lake Jackson, TX and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

Mildie Estell Dale, age 94, off Danville, AR died Friday, November 17, 2000 at Chamber Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was born October 3, 1906 in the Omega Community. She was the daughter of the late James Henry and Mozuria Elizabeth Martin Pennington. She had taught school at the Omega School and the Date Bend Number Nine School District. She had retired from the family business, Cecil Dale Gasoline Distributor. She was a member of the Danville Church of Christ and the Danville Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Cecil R. Dale, Sr. on March 10, 1993; a brother, Hugh Pennington and two sisters, Addie Pennington and Jane McMullen.
