Burton, Kenneth Wayne

Kenneth Wayne Burton, age 65 of Russellville, AR died Wednesday, February 21, 2001 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born August 30, 1935 in Paris, AR and was retired from Bridgestone-Firestone Inc. in Russellville, AR.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Thompson Burton and his mother, Beatrice Vaughn Burton.

Survivors are nephews, nieces and cousins.

Busby, B. W.

Mr. B.W. Busby, 64, Danville, died July 10, from heart trouble and was buried in the Havana Cemetery with Rev. Mr. Anderson, pastor of Assembly of God Church of Havana, holding the services.

Norman Busby, age 87, of Havana, AR died Sunday, February 8, 1998 at the Yell County Nursing Home in Ola. He was born December 1, 1910 in Smithville, OK to the late William and Annie James Busby. He was retired from the Rock Island Railroad and a member of the Havana Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alma Barnett Busby and a step-son, J. T. Barnett.

Etta Mae Bush, age 89, died Thursday, December 11, 2003 at Little Rock, AR. She was born January 12, 1914 at Stigler, OK, to the late Jerome and Carline Monk. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by 3 sons, George Carl, Edward Odell, and Columbis Ray Bush; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

She is survived by 2 sons, Jackson W. and James Leroy Bush of Dardanelle; 5 daughters, Jackie L. Martin of Little Rock, Mary M. Cordon of Camren, OK, Lorene Jones of Dardanelle, Kathryn Bush of Delaware, and Nancy Bush of Dardanelle. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

Bush, Eunice Dickerson

Mrs. Eunice Dickerson Bush, widow of the late Boyce Bush, died Monday evening, August 24, 1981, at her home. Mrs. Bush was a native of the Kingston Community, a retired teacher, the daughter of the late Henry and Liddia Dickerson. Mrs. Bush was a member of the Salem Methodist Church.

There were no immediate survivors.

Funeral services were at the Salem Methodist Church Thursday morning at 10:00 with the Rev. Gaston Matthews officiating. Interment will be at the Salem Cemetery. Casket bearers were Glen Poteet, Tim Phillips, Tommy Watson, Hays Bridges and Vernon Potter. Arrangements and services were by Cornwell Funeral Home.

The enjoyments of Eunice Bush, one who smiled all through life, helping others by serving as a teacher, she directed many tiny souls to happy adults. By playing the piano, attention, singing, conventions, she created joy, happiness. She was active in the EH Club work. Eunice will always be remembered as a person of love. Bushong, Jackie Leon

Jackie Leon Bushong, age 72, of Dardanelle died Thursday, October 3, 2013 at his home. He was born July 17, 1941 at Truman, Arkansas to the late Robert and Menda Johnson Bushong. He was a Christian, he loved fishing, hunting, camping and building things.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one sister.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Bushong of Dardanelle; two children, Jackie Bushong Jr of Dardanelle, Tammye Lynn Johnson of IL; stepchildren, Teresa Hester of Texas, Tammy Renee Benson of Texas; four brothers; three sisters; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Graveside services was held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, October 7, 2013 at Graves Cemetery in Delaware with Kenneth Aden officiating. Visitation was held Sunday, 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Laura Troy Butler, age 54, of Dardanelle, AR died Thursday, March 14, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville, AR. She was born April 26, 1947 in England, AR the daughter of the late Jessie and Robert Nunley Troy. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, L. C. Butler and two brothers, Will Dean and Lester Lynn Troy.

Survivors include a son, Bill Butler of Hector; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Chuck McCool of Rover, AR; three brothers, Julia and Marvin Troy both of Dardanelle and Jimmy Troy of Kenard, TX; five grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Butler, Peggy Ann Davis

Peggy Ann Davis Butler, age 56, a resident of Russellville, AR died Thursday, May 16, 2002 at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was born November 11, 1945 in Stuttgart, AR to William Robert and Rose Mary Maier Davis. She was a 1962 graduate of Stuttgart High School and she received her Bachelor of Science from Arkansas Tech University in May 2001. She was an employee of the Arkansas Valley Savings and Loan when it was founded in the 1960's in Russellville. She also worked for CM Vending Company in the mid 1970's and for Jostens, Inc. She was an active volunteer in her community having served as president of the Russellville Junior Auxiliary and a member of the PEO, chapter BM. She was also a member of the Friendship Services Board of Directors, the Ouachita Girl Scout Council and she served as treasurer for the Arkansas Symphony Russellville Guild. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed flower gardening and hiking on Mt. Nebo. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Julie Elizabeth and Andrew Mason McNeill of Marietta, GA; three grandchildren Mason Butler, Annabelle Rose and Ava Jane McNeill all of Marietta, GA; her mother, Rose Mary Maier Davis of Stuttgart, AR; two brothers, Bobby Dean and Brooks Lute Davis both of Stuttgart and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service was May 20, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Mackey Yokem. The body was cremated. Arrangements under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. She is preceded in death by her parents: her husband, Charles Butler; daughter, Linda Sparks and son Bobby Jones.

Butts, Eula Mae Holmes

The family of Eula Mae Holmes Butts would like to tell the readers of the Yell County Record that she had a long life of almost 86 years. She was the daughter of Hettie Madden Sugg Holmes and William Swept Homes; sister of Newman Sugg, Sybil Sugg Rutledge and Elmer Holmes, all of Chickalah; Mountain, AR and who have all preceded her in death.

For 61 years she was the wife of Johnie L. Butts of Arizona; mother of Shelby Jean Cole of WA and, Shirley Janene Hart of Florida; grandmother of Debbie Sepik of CA; Peggy Mai win and Alany Myer both of FL and great-grandmother of Andrew and Eric Sepik and Macy and; Madison Malwin.

She loved us all dearly and will be; greatly missed. Shirley and Joseph Hart, her son-in-law, sang "Amazing Grace" and In The Garden" as part of her service. Her pallbearers were Alan Myer, Peggy Malwin, Jospehy Hart, Ray Kauffman of AZ, a close friend, Bruce Pickens and Elise Stevens Pickens of CA, lifelong friends she knew in both AR and AZ. Butts, George Autry

CHINA GROVE - George Autry Butts, 90, of China Grove, went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2015, at Liberty Lane, Hospice House at W.G. " Bill" Hefner VA Medical Center, Salisbury. Born July 3, 1924, in Yell County, Ark., he was the son of the late Vernie Arthur and Hazel Rutledge Butts. Mr. Butts was educated in the Rowan County schools and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a longtime member of Landis Baptist Church. He retired from management at Celanese in Salisbury. He was an avid fisherman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 73 years, Helen Daughtery Butts of the home; son Ronald Butts (Barbara) of Sparta; granddaughter Vonda Butts Witherspoon (Tony) of Wilmington; grandson Randal Butts (Beverly) of Salisbury; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Bobby Butts (Betsy) of Lexington, Gene Butts (Shirley) of Boone; two sisters, Karolyn Butts Chapman (Dr. Gary) of Winston-Salem and Regina Butts Wright (Larry) of Salisbury. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Arrangements: Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 10 at Landis Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Ritchie Honeycutt and Dr. Gary Chapman. The family will receive friends at the church from 5-7 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 at West Lawn Memorial Park. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Rowan County Honor Guard. At other times the family will be at the home of a grandson, Randal Butts of Salisbury. Pamela Jo Vess Buzar, age 43, passed away November 29, 2000 at her home in Orange Park, FL. She was born in Seattle, WA. She was an apartment manager and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, FL.

She is survived by, two daughters, Jennifer and Christina Vess; her mother, Gail Counts of Seattle, WA; two brothers, Kevin and Greg Buzar; a sister, Marie Reifers; the father of her children, Keith W. Vess of Orange Park, FL (formerly of Plainview, AR); formerly in-law, Betty & C. L. Jacqueline Darice Thompson Byers, age 40 of Dardanelle died Monday, August 4, 2008 at River Valley Medical Center. Born January 13, 1968 in Dardanelle, she was the daughter of Dana Maurice Thompson and the late Bobbie Jean Arnett Thompson. She was a homemaker, a mother, and a member of the Unity Missionary Baptist Church in Dardanelle where she served as youth director and usher.

She is preceded in death by her mother and family members Donnell and Rosie Arnett and Maurice and Norma Lee Thompson.

Survivors include her husband, Lynn E. Byers; father, Dana Maurice Thompson; three daughters, Angela Thompson, Jasmine Byers and Francesca Byers; sister, Wendy Thompson; brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Mary Thompson; two granddaughters, Zariya and Zaybrau Williams of Dardanelle; six aunts and uncles, Pam Thompson, Lola and Jimmie Nichols, Joyce and Robert Torrence, Mary King, Lloyd Ray and Joyce Watkins, Leonard and Mae Dorothy Thompson; sister-in-law, Zellar Davis; three brothers-in-law, Kenneth Byers, Marvin Byers, and Dewayne Byers; mother-in-law, Jewel Byers, great-aunt, Gladys Richardson; and a host of family and friends.

Anna Bernice Bynum, 89, of Russellville died Tuesday, May 20, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born June 13, 1918, in Mosley in Yell County, to William Arthur and Bertha Dacus Tilmon. She was a member of Persis Lovely Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution, Pope County Historical Association, Arkansas Tech Dames Club and First Baptist Church. She graduated from Dardanelle High School in 1936. Bernice, "Bea" as she was called by her friends, had a keen sense of humor and liked funny stories. Sometimes she laughed so hard she cried. She loved books and was an avid reader and note taker. She enjoyed reading the Bible and writing down scriptures. She researched family history and collected a large amount of genealogical material. She had some flowers she planted years ago and was eager to see them bloom each spring. When she was able, she enjoyed working in the yard. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a woman determined to live life on her own terms.

She is survived by her husband of 67 years, F.W. "Nig" Bynum of Russellville; a son, John Bynum and wife, Alene, of Russellville; a daughter, Nancy Ann Bynum-Mack and husband, John, of Little Rock; a grandson, Michael Bynum, of Fayetteville; four granddaughters, Jennifer Alderson and husband, Tim, of Fayetteville; Amy Bynum and fiance, Derek Whitehead, of Conway; Tammy Short and husband, Marty, of Russellville; Candace Wagner and husband, James, of Russellville; great-grandchildren, Waid Rainey, Colt Short, Matthew Wagner, Cody Short and Abby Mae Wagner; a brother, Paul P. Tilmon of Dardanelle; a sister, Oreta Tucker of Dardanelle; nephews and nieces; and her caregivers and friends at Stella Manor Nursing Home. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Basil Tilmon and Billy Tilmon; and a sister, Virginia Avery.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Shinn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. William C. Hatfield will officiate. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery by Shinn Funeral Service. James Erick Bynum of Stratford, Okla. died of a heart attack January 8. He was a former resident of Waveland.

Bynum, James Ralph

James Ralph Bynum, age 65, of Hanford, Calif., a native of Russellville, died December 15, 1986. He was the son of the late George M. and Cora Morton Bynum, and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include a son, Jerry D. Bynum of Cabot; a daughter, Vickie Semple of Arlington, Texas; a brother, Firman Bynum of Russellville; a sister, Wilma Campbell of Pittsburg, Calif. and three grandchildren.

Mrs. Jeanne M. Bynum, 55, formerly of Danville, died in a Muskogee hospital January 11. Mrs. Bynum had been ill for about six weeks. Mrs.

Roy A. Bynum, age 82, of Muskogee, Okla., a former resident of Russellville, died Saturday, March 16, 1985, at the Van Orden Adult Living Center at Muskogee. He was the son of the late George M. and Cora Bynum, and a member of First Christian Church at Muskogee.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Hatfield Bynum.

Survivors include a son, Roy A. Bynum Jr. of Flagstaff, Ariz.; a daughter, Donna E. Hoog of Muskogee; two brothers, F. W. Bynum of Russellville and Ralph Bynum of Hanford, Calif.; a sister, Wilma Campbell of Pittsburg, Calif.; three grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters.

Byrd, Helen Marie

Helen Marie Byrd, age 78, of Dardanelle, died Tuesday, August 16, 2007 at her home. She was born October 28, 1928 at Welch, West Virginia to the late Walter Bell Sr. and Gladys Welch. She was a member of the Peter Creek Presbyterian Church in Phelps, KY.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Byrd Sr.; grandson, James Byrd III; and brother, Walter Bell Jr.

Survivors include three sons, James "Butch" Jr. and Barbara Byrd of Dardanelle, Terry and Carol Byrd of Dardanelle, P. Todd Byrd of Dallas, TX; daughter, Donna Howard of Waldron; brothers, Richard Goodson of Augusta, GA, Tommy Goodson of Bluefield, West Virginia, Kenny Goodson of Bluefield, West Virginia; sisters, Evelyn Kinser of Pulaski, VA, Joanne Irick of Hampton, VA; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Byrd, James D.

James D. Byrd, Sr. age 74, of Dardanelle, AR, died on Friday, November 16, 2001 after a long illness. Mr. Byrd was a WWII veteran, UMW member, and a small business owner.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Helen; three sons, James. D. (Butch) Byrd, Jr. his wife Barbara and their children of Dardanelle, Terry Byrd, his wife Carol and their children also of Dardanelle, P. Todd Byrd of Lexington, KY; one daughter, Donna Howard, her husband Tom and their children and grandchildren of Oak Ridge, TN; two sisters, Evelyn Shurtliff of Ann Arbor, MI, and Alice Watsell of Racine, WV along with their families.

Funeral services were Sunday, November 18, 2001 at the Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle at 2:00 p. m. with Rev. Bo Kaufman officiating. Burial was at Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service, Dardanelle. A family visitation was held Friday night from 6:00 to 7:00 p. m. at the funeral home. Lucy Mae Jeffryes Byrd, age 82, of Houston, AR, passed away Friday, June 22, 2007. She was the widow of Clyde Loren Byrd. She was born June 6, 1925 in Casa, AR, a daughter of James Edmond and Ethel Cherry Jeffryes. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley General Baptist Church and a retired thread trimmer for Levi Strauss and Company.

Survivors include four sons, Ralph W. and Ray L. Byrd both of Houston; Randell L. Byrd of Conway and Ronald S. Byrd of Bryant; two daughters, Carolyn J. Harmon of Conway and Karen Laramie of Newalla, OK; two brothers, A. J. Jeffryes of Mantua, OH and Harley Jeffryes of Conway; one sister, Velma Corder of Perryville; 25 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service was June 25, at Pleasant Valley General Baptist Church with her sons, Rev. Randell L and Rev. Ronald S. Byrd officiating. Byrum, Herman M.

Herman M. Byrum, age 66, of Gooding, Idaho, brother of Ora Lee Bittle of Ola, died October 19, 1986 at St. Luke's Hospital at Boise, Idaho. He was a former resident of Pope and Yell counties, and was the son of the late John and Martha Davis Byrum.

Byrum, Lois P.

Lois P. Byrum, age 83, a resident of Russellville, AR, died Sunday, April 23, 2000 at the Dardanelle Hospital at Dardanelle. She was born on October 30, 1916 in Pope Co. AR, to J. F. and Harriett Martin Hedgepeth. Mrs. Byrum was a Homemaker, the widow of the late Eugene Byrum and was also preceded in death by a son, Wayland Gene Byrum. She attended the Oakland Heights Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law James R. and Virginia A. Byrum of Russellville; two daughters and sons-in-law Shirley and James Tucker, Dardanelle; Pat and Donald Birge of Russellville, AR; one sister, Virgie Price of Russellville. Several Grandchildren and great Grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 2 pm Wednesday, April 26, 2000 at the Humphrey funeral Chapel officiated by Rev. Ronnie Birge. Burial will be at Rest Haven memorial Park at Russellville. Caddell, Joe

Aged Man Takes Life At Bluffton. . Joe Caddell, age 79, of Ola was found dead Tuesday, April 12, at the home of E. J. Black of Bluffton, where he had been visiting. Investigation by officers and friends Wednesday revealed that he had committed suicide as a result of taking rat poison.

Mr Caddell was a recipient of the Welfare Department and had but one known survivor a brother, Will Caddell of Carlsbad, N. Mex.

Cady, Randy D.

Randy D. Cady, 13 of Dover died Saturday, June 27. He was a native of Keokuk, Iowa and completed seventh grade at Dover Junior High School where he was involved in the football and baseball programs.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Tracie Cady.

Survivors include his parents, Rodney Eugen and JoAnn Cady of Dover, two brothers, Timothy and Bryan Cady of Dover; paternal grandfather, John David Cady of Danville; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Joanne Bowman of Clare, Iowa, and great-grandparents, Edward and Velma Horak and Roy and Mabel Johnson of Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Gerald Cagle age 82 of Dardanelle died Friday, January 25, 2013 at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. He was born March 7, 1930 in Quinton, Oklahoma to the late Corbett Cagle and Serea Stiles Cagle. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Dardanelle Calvary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Burtle and Lee Cagle.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years Barbara Reichelsdorf Cagle of Dardanelle; one daughter, Cynthia Kordsmeier and husband Steve of Sherwood; one son, Jerry Cagle of Bentonville; one sister, Wilma Twyman of Cabot; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
