Buford, Beth Ann (Eden)

Beth Ann Buford, age 78, of Ola, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born October 16, 1937, in Plainview, Arkansas, to the late Elmer and Ida Lowery Eden. She was a Bookkeeper for the Ola sale barn for over thirty years, a farmer, and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard L. Eden; and son-in-law, Jack King.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Donnell Ray Buford, three children: Ray Buford (Mandy) of Ola, Donna King of Ola, Mark Buford of Ola, sister Shirley Jo Plant of Little Rock; six grandchildren: Jackie Johnston (Alan) of Sedalia, Mo; Kyle King (Erica) of Hot Springs; Laura Aynes (Marcus) of Waldron; Charley Buford (Madison) of Pottsville; Cheyenne Buford of London; Dakota Buford of Clarksville; six great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Robert Buford of Ola, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 18, 2016, at the Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Pastor Joe Harrison officiating. Burial was at New Bethel Cemetery in Planview. Mrs. Betty Adale Buford 30, died Friday in a Pensacola, Fla. Hospital. She was a native of California and a Methodist.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Buford with the Navy at Pensacola; two sons, John Buford and Fred Buford of the home; her mother, Mrs. Bertha Tumey of Long Beach, Calif; her father Barney Tumey of Westport, Conn.; four brothers and four sisters. Cecil Lee Buford was born at Briggsville, Ark. August 30, 1897 and passed away at Little Rock January 21, 1948 at the age of 50. He was married to Miss Mica Cathey of Briggsville in 1925.

Buford, Cecil Lee

Mr. Cecil Lee Buford, age 50, of Briggsville, a prominent and respected citizen of Fourche Valley, died Wednesday of last week at the Baptist State hospital in Little Rock. He was a lifetime resident of Briggsville where he has served as postmaster for the past 12 years. He was active in civic affairs and has served on the school board for the past 20 years. He was also for several years a member of the Yell County Board of Education.

Surviving relatives include his wife, formerly Miss Mica Cathey; one son, Cecil Lynn Buford of Briggsville; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Buford, of Briggsville; one brother, Bob Buford of Briggsville; and five sisters, Mrs. O. L. Cook, of North Little Rock, Mrs. C. N. Elliott of Parks, Mrs. J. R. Humphreys of El Dorado, Mrs. J. P. Briggs and Miss Selma Buford, of Briggsville.

Buford, Cecil Lynn

Cecil Lynn Buford, age 74, of Briggsville died Thursday, February 7, 2002, in North Little Rock. He was the son of the late Cecil Lee and Mica Mae Cathey Buford. He was born July 30, 1927, at Briggsville. He was a lifelong resident of Briggsville, and was married to Grace Womack Buford for 47 1/2 years until her death on January 19, 1999. He was a tree farmer, and was a member of the Briggsville Methodist Church and the Bluffton Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his son, Joe Lee Buford, M. D. of North Little Rock.

Funeral services were Saturday, February 9, 2002 at 1:00 p. m. at the Shinn Chapel with Rev. Royce Savage and Rev. Hulon Wiser officiating. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery at Briggsville, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. Active pallbearers were Buddy Ray, Mike Rhoden, Ernie Alonzo, Keith Briggs, Maxie Mathis and Nickey Cathey. Buford, Dale

Dale Buford, age 88, of Danville, died Monday, January 20, 2003 at Mitchell Nursing Home. He was born December 14, 1914 at Briggsville and was a son of the late Charlie I. and Mary Rebecca McBride Buford. He was an auditor for the Internal Revenue Agency and a member of the Gadsen, Alabama United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose L. Buford.

Survivors include a brother and two sisters-in-law, Ted and Eulene Buford of Briggsville and Lela Mae Geiger of Bluffton; several nieces and nephews. Nephews served as pallbearers.

Buford, Dortha Robinson

Dortha Robinson Buford, 82, of Dardanelle, died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. The daughter of Herbert and Ida Mae Crowder Shelton, she was born September 5, 1926 in Plainview. She was a long time member of the Ola Study Club and a member of Ola United, Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; the father of her children Dr. Tom D. Robinson and her second husband Bill Buford; one sister Martha Nelle Willis.

Survivors include three children, Jeff & Brenda Robinson of Edmond, OK, Patrick Robinson of Dallas, TX and Julie & Keith Stokes of Dardanelle; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren and one brother, Herbert Shelton, Jr. of Waxahachie, TX.

Buford, Grace

Grace Buford, age 71, of Briggsville, AR. died Tuesday, January 19, 1999 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Little Rock, AR. A daughter of the late Joel and Ola Anderson Womack, she was born November 10, 1927 at Amity, AR. She attended Henderson State College in Arkadelphia where she received her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in home economics. She taught home economics for forty years which included five years at the Fourche Valley School in Briggsville, AR. and thirty-three years at the Plainview-Rover School in Plainview. She attended the Bluffton United Methodist Church. She was a member and past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Gravelly Chapter 580 and was a founding member and past president of the Yell County Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was also a member of the Yell County Retired Teachers Association, the Danville Music Club and was on the board of directors of the Yell County Special Services School.

Survivors include her husband, Cecil Lynn Buford; a son, Joe Lee Buford, MD of North Little Rock; four sisters, Jo Ray of Murfreesboro, Ola Mae Garner of Texarkana, TX, Eupha Watson of Nashville, AR. and Mary Lou White of Kirby, AR.

Buford, Jessie

Miss Jessie Buford, age 94, of Danville, AR (formerly of Hot Springs, AR) died Wednesday, May 13, 1998 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville, AR. She was a daughter of the late Charlie T. and Mary Rebecca McBride Buford, she was born January 12, 1904 at Wing, AR. She was a member of the Grand Avenue Methodist Church in Hot Springs, AR. She taught grades 1 thru 12 for many different school systems in Arkansas for 47 years, until her retirement in 1969, as head librarian for the Sheridan School District. She was a member of the Arkansas Retired Teacher's Association for many years serving numerous positions on the state level.

She is survived by two brothers, Ted and Eulene Buford of Briggsville, AR and Dale Buford of Danville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was Saturday at the Briggsville Methodist Church with Rev. Royce Savage officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Briggsville, AR. Buford, Jimmie

Jimmie Buford, 84, of Danville, AR, formerly of Ola, died Friday, November 8, 2013 at St. Mary's Rehabilitation Center in Russellville. The son of Bill and Mima Jane Turner Buford, he was born October 6, 1929 in Wing, AR. He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Livestock Inspector with the State of Arkansas. He was a long standing member of Bear Creek Fishin' Club of South Carolina, the Arkansas River Valley Gun Club, American Legion Post #0222 of Ola and retired from Ola Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Danville Freewill Baptist Church. Jimmie was an avid reader. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, dancing and feeding his stray cats. His greatest joy was time spent with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Bill Jr. Buford and John T. Buford. Left to cherish his memory is his companion Nell Clemons of Danville; children William F. Buford & wife Margaret of Okeechobee, Fl, Glenn T. Buford & Wanda of Ruffin, SC, Charles E. Buford & wife Sherry of Ola, Katharine J. Buford of Ola, Leda E. Jimmy Lee Buford, age 59, of McGehee, AR, a farmer and a native of Yell County, died Tuesday, June 4 at McGehee-Desha County Hospital. He was born November 2, 1936 to Lee and Effie Hill Buford. He was a member of the board of directors of McGehee Bank and Lake Village Seed, chairman of the advisory committee of the Agricultural Youth Apprentice program and a deacon at First Baptist Church at McGehee. His family was Desha County Farm Family of the Year.

Mildred V. Buford, age 85, of Danville, AR died Wednesday, October 13, 1999. She was a daughter of the late Henry Dow and Maggie Elizabeth Embry Rana; she was born October 22, 1913, at Briggsville, AR. She was a retired psychiatric technician, having worked for the Camarillo (California) State Hospital for 20 years. She was a charter member of the Gravelly Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles Club in Russellville and a member of the Danville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by, a son and daughter-in-law, Robert G. and Loucinda Buford of Danville; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Robert Scott and Tammy Kay Buford of Russellville and a great-grandson, Robert Michael Buford and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was a member of the Briggsville Methodist Church, a United States Army Veteran of World War II, Patton's 3rd Armored Division, serving during the Battle of the Bulge and Siegfried Line Campaigns. He was a member of the Fourche Valley School Board and the Briggsville Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Danny F. and Allen R. Buford; three brothers, Bennie Edgar, Bill and Dale Buford; and three sisters, Dona, Johnnie and Jessie Buford.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Eulene Buford; a daughter and son-in-law, Monette and Tommy Hicks of Uniontown, AR; and a grandson and his wife, David and Deanna Lambert of Van Buren and a grandson Daniel Hicks of Ft. Smith.

The funeral was February 19, 2007, at the Briggsville Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Lawrence officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Briggsville, under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. Active pallbearers were nephews. Buford, Virgie Morris

Virgie Morris Buford, 77, of Ft. Smith, AR, formerly of Nimrod, AR, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005 in Ft. Smith, AR. She was born October 24, 1927 in Mt. Ida, AR to Everett and Ella Talent Ridpath. She married Herman Shorty Morris on December 6, 1956 and after his passing she married Robert M. Buford on January 1, 1977. She was owner of Virgie's Monogramming. She was a member of the Arkansas Bluegrass Association and a member of the Unity Baptist Church of Ft. Smith AR.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Herman "Shorty" Morris; one brother, Carl Ridpath.

Survivors include her husband, Robert M. Buford of Ft. Smith; one son, Michael Wayne Morris of Ft. Smith; four sisters, Juanita Dennison and Ruby Scott of Ft. Smith, Lois Bentley of North Little Rock, and Joyce Rye of Mansfield, AR; and seven nieces and nephews.

Graveside service was be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 14, 2005 at Nimrod Cemetery in Perry County with Brother Neil Prock officiating. Burial followed by Humphrey Funeral Service. Bill Buford, 67, of Ola died Wednesday, March 4, at his home. He was retired from the United States Navy and was a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a native of Yell County, and was the son of the late William Buford and the late Mima J. Turner Buford.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Tolbert Buford.

Boyd Buie, age 68, of Danville, AR died Wednesday, May 10, 2000 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. He was born February 17, 1932 in Yell County, AR to Opal and the late Bessie Hurst Buie. He was retired from Valmac Industries.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Buie.

Survivors are his father, Opal Buie of Houston, TX; three sisters, Ruby Mills, Mt. George, AR, Reba and Katherine Mitchell of Buck Mtn. AR; seven nephews; five nieces; 16 great-nephews and five great-nieces.

Survivors are his wife, Emma Jane Burrows Bull; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leland Ray and Linda Bull, Harry Don and Linda Bull, all of Gainesville, Georgia; three daughters and sons-in-law Clyda Jane and Don Hall of Ola, Arkansas, Wanda Faye Bull of Danville, Arkansas, Anna Dale and Bill Linton of Dover, Arkansas; one brother, Raymond Bull of Amarillo, Texas; two sisters, Lena Ramey of Danville, Arkansas and Ruby Duggar of Plainview, Arkansas; nine grandchildren and four great-grand-children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lou Ella Bull; four brothers, Herman Bull, Faye Bull, Clifford Bull, Jimmy Bull; one sister, Maggie Williams.
