Bench, Jimmie H.

Jimmie H. Bench of Plainview, age 42 years, died August 27, 1948 in the Veterans Hospital at Little Rock. Mr. Bench served several months with the armed forces during World War II. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Mrs. Faye Bench; one daughter, Melba Jean Bench of Plainview; his mother, Mrs. Lizzie Bench of Ola Route 1; three sisters Mrs. Ada Owens of Texas; Mrs. Bert Marks, of Searcy; and Mrs. Ralph Jones of Ola, Route 1; and one brother, Everett Bench of Watson and a host of their relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Assembly of God Church by the Rev. Ivan Marcum of Birta, assisted by Misses Francis Payne of Dardanelle and Vivian Higgins of Tulsa, Okla. Mr. Bench was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Interment was in Salem Cemetery near Plainview. Kenneth Ray Bench, age 43, of Dardanelle died Monday, May 28, 2012 at Arkansas Heart Hospital.

Bench, Kenneth Ray

Kenneth Ray Bench, age 43, of Dardanelle died Monday, May 28, 2012 at Arkansas Heart Hospital. He was born February 22, 1969 at Russcelville to Jim Walter "JW" and Thelma Booth Standridge Bench. He was part of the Dardanelle Assembly of God Church and was an active worker in the church. He loved cookouts with family and friends and you could always catch him with a Coke Zero in his Red Solo Cup.

He was preceded in death by two siblings, Willow Mae and James Edward Bench; stepfather, John William Booth.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Ray Bench of Dardanelle; mother, Thelma Booth of Charleston; father, "J.W." Bench of Oregon; mother-in-law, Jauniva Ray of Dardanelle; a son, C.J. Bench and mother, Emily Liska-Bench-Hall of Clute, TX; one sister, Anna Stewart and Jeff of Oregon; one brother, Michael Bench and wife Kim of Russellville; three uncles, Bill Standifer of WA, Terry Nygaard of TX, Edwin Nygaard of MN; two aunts, Laura Arseneva of MN, Peggy Jones of Charleston, AR; one great aunt, Lila James of Havana, AR and many cousins, other relatives, friends and RHS Class of "87".

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bench, aged 81, of Ola died October 20, 1954 at a hospital at Little Rock. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Benedict, Dennus Lee

Dennus Lee Benedict, age 101, of Ola and a retired farmer died July 5th. He was a member of the Ola Assembly of God Church.

Survivors are three sons, Gene Benedict and Arlyss Benedict, both of Ola and David Benedict of Sapulpa, OK; four daughters, Mrs. Dorris McBride of Alamogordo, N. M. Mrs. Lorene Jones of Belleville, Mrs. Mary Bitticks of Lavaca and Mrs. Cherry Turner of Ola; one sister, Mrs. Annie Venetz of Pawhuska, OK; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Benedict, Levon

Levon Benedict, age 87, went home to be with the Lord October 27, 2014. He was the second son of Dennis and Mae Benedict. He enjoyed every aspect of farming life. He was a John Deere and a Deutz Man. When he was aboard his Deutz every cedar tree shuttered when they saw the bushog. His wife Dorothy was by his side for 63 years. He was a man of few words but his love for his family knew no bounds. He served his country in Japan.

He was preceded in death by his parents. His older brother Richard Levoy died while young. Two sisters and brother-in-laws, Dorris and Tom McBride, Lorene and Ray Jones.

Survivors include his daughters, Gale and Bill Damon of Ola, Ronda and Glen Littrell of Eureka Springs; brothers, David and wife Barbara of Sapulpa, OK, Arlyss and Martha of Ola; sisters, Lynelle and Ed Bitticks of Lavaca, Cherry and Sam Turner of Ola; grandchildren, Brock and his wife Frankie, Caleb, William, Amber and husband Ray, John Leslie, Sequoia and husband Noah and Sierra; six great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and many friends and many beloved nieces and nephews. Martha Benedict, 73, of Ola, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 28, 2015. She was born June 22, 1941, in Aly, Arkansas to the late Washington and Gerturde (Smith) Stephens.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, llene Gagne.

Survivors include her husband, Arlyss Benedict of Ola; daughters, Sabrina Bates of Ola, Terrie Woods and husband Larry Barton; sisters Billie Brister of Alabama, Charlene Wallace of Magazine; grandchildren, Michael Bates and wife Rabiye of Colorado, Ricky Bates of Glenwood, Rayleigh Barton; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Alayna Bates; stepchildren, Richard and Sarah Benedict, Jeffrey and Pam Benedict of Ola; step-grandchildren, Kayla, Jordan, and Hannah.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31 at the Ola Assembly of God Church with Brother Don Lane officiating. Burial was at Birta Cemetery, Birta. Charles F. Benefield, age 72, of Birta went to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 6, 2015, at his home. He was born on November 5, 1942, in Birta, Arkansas to the late James Marcus Benefield Sr. & Geneva Irene Fuller Wilson. He was raised as a child until retirement in El Centro, CA. Charles loved and enjoyed his time in the sun, gardening, yard work and raising cattle. He worked at Von's Groceries Inc. as a meat manager in El Centro, CA for 30 years. He owned his own Franchise "Housemaster" of 8 years in El Centro, CA. He came back to retire in 2009, to his birth town Birta, Arkansas to retire in 2009.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers & sister, James Marcus Benefield Jr, Robert Lynn Benefield, and Patsy Stone.

Dimple Benefield, age 80, of Casa, died Thursday, September 22, 2005 at Perry County Nursing and Rehab. She was born April 12, 1925 in Casa to the late Nick and Cora Robinson George. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the Casa Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Hoyt Fink and Max Benefield and a grandson, Randy Hance.

Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Ginger and Luther Hance of Casa, grandson and daughters-in-law, Scott and Erin Hance of Casa and Sherry Hance of Russellville and a great-granddaughter, Madeline Hance of Casa.

Edgar N. Benefield, 94, of Ola died Tuesday, October 20, at Yell County Nursing Home at Ola. He was a retired farmer and a native of Centerville, son of the late Walter and Mary Petillo Benefield, and a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist. Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Alfred Benefield.

Funeral service for Estelle Eva Benefield, 68 year old Hodgens resident, was conducted Tuesday afternoon in the Hodgens Baptist Church. Rev.

Paul McDaniel officiated at the services, with burial in Heavener Memorial Park under direction of Dowden Funeral Home. Born in Arkansas, February 23, 1900, Mrs. Benefield had lived at Hodgens for 32 years where she was a member of the Baptist Church. She died at a Heavener nursing home November 23.

Faliece Benefield, age 79, died Saturday, February 10, 1996 at the Morrilton Manor Nursing Home in Morrilton. She was a native of Bluffton, AR (Yell County), and was a daughter of the late Lemuel Hardy Benefield and the late Vernetta Melissa Nettie Stout Benefield. She was retired from Morton Frozen Foods (now Con-Agra) and attended the Four Squares Gospel Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Butler.

Survivors include three sisters, Oma Lee Burns and Ruby Benefield both of Dardanelle and Billie Owens of Russellville and a nephew Jerry L. Caldwell of El Paso, TX.

She was preceded [in] death by her husband of 59 years, Roy Lamar Benefield and brother Donald Tucker.

Margaret Benefield, age 91, of Ola, AR died Wednesday, December 1, 1999 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. She was a daughter of the late Charles Edward and Tennie Howard Partin, she was born May 21, 1908 at Birta, AR. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ola. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Neal Benefield; two brothers, Elbert and Ernest Partin and a sister, Mae Rue Hudlow.

Survivors include, her husband, Marvin C. Benefield; a brother, William Partin of Prescott Valley, AZ; two sisters, Ruby Sandlin of Danville, AR and Thelma Yearwood of Santa Ana, CA; a granddaughter, Pamela Jane Kemp of Calexico, Ca and three great grandchildren, Michelle, Jacklyn and Christopher Kemp all of Calexico, CA.

Marvin. C. Benefield, age 101, a resident of Ola, died September 27, 2007, at his home. He was born September 18, 1906, in Briggsville to James and Agusta Smith Benefield. M. C. was retired from Shippers Ice and also had been a barber, truck driver, and mail man. He was of the Baptist faith. He loved gardening and telling friends and family stories.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret Benefield; his son, Bob Benefield; and all of his brothers and sisters.

Mary Ellen Benefield, age 96, of Ola, AR. died Sunday, February 14, 1999 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. She was born May 31, 1902 at Dardanelle, daughter of the late Robert and Effie Flora Belle Barrett. She was the widow of Lennis V. Benefield and a member of the Ola Assembly of God.

Survivors include a son, Billy J. Benefield Sr. of Dardanelle; four daughters, Rheba B. Riley of Ola, Faye Bernice Bradford of North Kansas City, MO, Norma Jean Vinyard of Tahlequah, OK and Flora Mae Mills of Oklahoma City, OK; 21 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Max Benefield, age 75 of Ola, AR passed away Wednesday, September 18, 1996 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born in Briggsville, AR January 24, 1921 son of the late James Marcus Dugan and Augusta Benefield. He was a retired farmer.

He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis Benefield.

Reba D. Benefield, age 81, of Ola, AR passed away Monday, May 5, 2008 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was born September 22, 1926 in Birta, AR to Floyd and Lyda George Rodgers. She was a lifetime member of Birta Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Benefield; her parents and a brother, Charles Rodgers.

She is survived by a sister, Greta Sherman of Ola; two daughters, Jan & Coy Leach of Birta, Carol Ann & Danny McKnight of Harris Brake; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Benefield, Roy Lamar

Roy Lamar Benefield, age 86, of Ola, died Saturday, August 11, 2007 at his home. Born September 15, 1920 in Centerville, he was the son of the late Edgar and Sallie Daniel Benefield. He retired after nine years for the Ola School District maintenance department. He was a veteran of WWII and a member of the Fisher-Law VFW Lodge #8525 in Plainview.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charlie Benefield and James Benefield.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Juanita Tucker Benefield; children, Thomas Benefield of Ola, Gerald Benefield of Haslet, Texas, Susan Pyburn of the Pontoon Community, Daniel Benefield of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Joseph Benefield of Plainview; two brothers, Allen Benefield and Lloyd Benefield both of Ola; two sisters, Virginia Parker of Ola and Sara Dinnerville of Plainview; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Services will be Wednesday, August 15, 2007, 10:00 a. m. at the First Freewill Baptist Church in Ola with Rev. Bobby Wells and Rev. David Riker officiating. Burial will be in Birta Cemetery. Sallie F. Daniels Benefield, age 100, passed away Friday, May 19, 2000 at the Yell County Nursing Home in Ola, AR. She is survived by her husband, Terry Benefield, of Plainview; a daughter and son-in-law, Allyssa and Matt Forrest of Plainview; a grandson, Matthew Noah Forrest; her father and step-mother, Don and Judy Jones; mother and step-father, Frances and Larry Duvall of Atkins; a brother and sister-in-law, Shane and Brandi Jones; two step-sisters, Tammy Parks and Leslie Lewis; two nephews, Brayden Jones and Dalton Lewis; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends, Beth Anderson, Staci Potter, Cindy Decouski and Tamera Lacy.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 8, 2007 at the Lemley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. James Findley officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date. A visitation will be held 7:00-9:00 PM Wednesday. Another memorial service will be held February 9 at 6 p. m. at Hunts Chapel. Flowers can be delivered to Hunts Chapel at Rover all day on Friday. Dentist From Fort Smith Drowns As Boat Capsizes At Nimrod - Dr. Charles W. Bennett, age 40, Fort Smith dentist drowned about 3 a.m. Tuesday when the boat in which he was fishing capsized on Lake Nimrod, near the Joe Bartlett landing. His body was discovered about 125 feet off shore in deep water at 11:30 a.m. A group of 40 men in approximately 15 boats tied together dragged the area where the tragedy occurred with grappling hooks until finding the body.
