Lewis, Hannah Danette

Hannah Danette Lewis, 3, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Joe Lewis of Ola, died Friday, January 19, at a Little Rock hospital.

Other survivors include three sisters, Virginia Linda Jo and Rita Diane Lewis of the home; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David D. Lewis of Ola; maternal grandmother, Mrs. W.T. Hodges of Ola; and paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Lula Lewis of Ola.

Lewis, Hartsell L.

Hartsell L. Lewis, age 79 of Ola, died Friday, February 21, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. He was born May 22, 1923 in Centerville to the late David and Lillie Davenport Lewis. He was a former employee of the First State Bank in Ola and the Bank of Dardanelle, Yell County Sheriff in 1977 and 1978. In 1979 he became the City Recorder for Ola and remained in that position until his retirement in January of 2003. Mr. Lewis was a member of Petit Jean Masonic Lodge 298, Order of Eastern Star, Ola Chapter 386, a 32 Degree Mason, WWII Army Veteran, member of Plainview VFW Post 8525, was on the Ola School Board for 20 years, member of the First Baptist Church in Ola where he was a Deacon.

He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Lewis; one daughter, Darlene Lewis and a sister, Jearldine Barnes.

Survivors are his wife of 51 years, Bernice Douglas Lewis; two sons and wives, Rev. Charles and Latrica Lewis of Dardanelle; Keith O'Neal and Stacey Lewis of Briggsville; two daughters and husband, Paula Orrell of Ola, Karla and Rick Ketchum of Russellville; three brothers, O. J. Lewis of Hope, Dewey Joe Lewis of Harkeys Valley, Wayne Lewis of Ola; three sisters, Bobbie Freeze, Betty Burnett and Bonnie Baskin, all of Ola; 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at the Ola First Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Balentine and Rev. Jon Holbrook officiating. Interment was in Casa Cemetery with Masonic Rites and full military honors by Boyce Woods VFW Post 3141 of Dardanelle. Arrangements by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville. Pallbearers were Montie Sims, Kenny Standridge, Bobby Melton, Bill King, John Stafford, Shane Bewley. Lewis, Hideko Linda (Tamesue)

Hideko Linda Lewis, 80, a resident of Birta, died Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at her home. She was born August 1, 1930, at Kyushu, Japan to Matasaburo and Shizue Hirota Tamesue.

She was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Virgil Lewis of Birta; two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Carol Lewis of Russellville and Jack and Vista Lewis of South Carolina; two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Bobby Debnam of North Carolina and Patricia and Ricky Kimzcy of Ola; nine grandchildren, Melodye Hampton, Jason Lewis, Jeremy Lewis, Amanda Miller, Joshua Lewis, Danny Lewis, Sarah Middleton, Michael Lewis and Hannah Kimzey; numerous great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral was April 15, 2011, at the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church at Birta with Bro. Randall Gilbert and Bro. Ricky Kimzey officiating. Lewis, J. C.

J. C. Lewis, age 80 of Ola, died Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at his home. He was born October 9, 1928 in Bowlegs, OK to the late James Noble and Iva Marie Jones Lewis. He was a deacon and member of Ola First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, brother and sister.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Neoma Lewis; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Einella Lewis, Mike, and Lisa Lewis, Bryon and Delena Lewis, all of Centerville; daughters and son-in-law, Kathy and Tom Benefield of Ola and Sheila Leatherwood of Stillwell, OK; 11 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Lewis, James Lee

Mr. James Lee Lewis, age 33, of Dardanelle, AR, formerly of Grand Prairie, TX died Tuesday, May 18, 1999 at the Dardanelle Hospital. He was born July 1, 1965 in Pine Bluff, AR. He was a graduate of Dardanelle High School, Arkansas Tech University with a degree in business administration, a teaching certificate in secondary education and coaching endorsement. He was a social studies teacher and football and basketball coach at Grand Prairie I. S. D. High School in Grand Prairie, TX. He was the first director of the Boys and Girls Club in Dardanelle and formerly taught and coached at Boswell High School in Saginaw, TX. He attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Dardanelle, AR.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lee and Maude Billings of Rison, AR and James Lewis of Rowell, AR.

Survivors include his parents, Bobby and Frances Billings Lewis of Dardanelle, AR; one brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Wendy Lewis of Russellville; a half-brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Nan Carr of Pine Bluff; one nephew, two nieces, several uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of friends.

Services were Thursday at Bethel 1 Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. A. D. Livingston and Rev. Sam Higgs officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle, AR. John L. Lewis, age 79, a former resident of Yell County, died in a hospital in Ft. Smith on July 13, 1986.

He was the son of the late Barney and Ellen Cathy Lewis and he is survived by two sisters, Eula Willard and Vade White, both of Ft. Smith. He was born in Rover but spent a number of years working in Los Angeles, CA. When he retired he moved to Ft. Smith where he has resided for several years.

Lewis, Junior Lee

Junior Lee Lewis, 71 of Waveland, passed away Friday, Jun 3, 2016, at his home. He was born December 31, 1944, in Ola, Arkansas to the late Arthur Lee and Reba Myrle (Blaylock) Lewis. He loved working with his cattle and helping his son Mike in the hay fields in the summer. He was retired from Sparks Regional Medical Center where he was director of food service, housekeeping, and laundry at Sparks Manor. He was later the assistant director of food service at Sparks Hospital. Mr.

Lewis attended the Waveland Sunday School "church on the hill." He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Michelle Callaway.

Survivors include his wife Georgia Lewis; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Mary Jo Lewis of Conway; grandchildren, Braylee and Tyler Callaway of Ft. Smith, Dalton, Austin, Nicole, and Abigail Lewis of Conway; sister, Katherine and Glendal Johnson of Booneville; brothers, Johnny and Sue Lewis of Driggs, Dennis and Connie Lewis of Ft. Smith; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Leon R. Lewis, age 67, of Aly, AR passed away at home, Wednesday, June 14, 2006. He was born March 31, 1939 in Pine Valley, OK to Nobel Lewis and Lola Wallace Lewis.

Mrs. Lillie May Davenport Lewis, age 86, of Ola died Saturday evening, March 1, 1986 at the Yell County Nursing Home. Mrs. Lewis was a native of the Ard Community, a housewife and Mother, the daughter of the late Oce and Delia Davenport. Mrs. Lewis was a member of the Ola First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband David Lewis, four sons O. J. Lewis of Hope, Hartsell Lewis of Ola, Dewey Joe Lewis of Dardanelle, and David Wayne Lewis of Ola. Four daughters, Jearldine Barnes of Ola, Bobbie Freeze of Springfield, Ohio, Betty Burnett, and Bonnie Baskin both of Ola. Two brothers, Herman Davenport of North Little Rock, and Ernest Davenport of Russellville. Two sisters, Sybil Walker of Ola, and Odean Coker of Gault, CA. Mrs. Lola M. Lewis, age 80, of Story, AR, died Wednesday, March 13, 1996 in the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Hot Springs. She was born November 22, 1915 in Story, AR to the late Mr. Jim Wallace and the late Mrs. Jon Anna Robertson Wallace. She was united in marriage to Mr. Noble R. Lewis on September 7, 1935 in Story, who preceded her in death on February 25, 1987. She had made her home in Story since 1966. She was a housewife.

Lora Verda Lewis, age 92 of Dardanelle, died Saturday, July 6, 2002 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. Mrs. Lewis was born September 10, 1909 in Garland County to the late Thomas and Theodica Jane Bailey Eldridge. She was a homemaker and mother and was a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Chickalah for 52 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Lewis; a son, Edward Lewis; a brother, Vester Eldridge; sisters, Eva Carter & Vennie Underwood.

Survivors include four sons, James Lewis of Bryant, Johnny Lewis of the Ard Community, Gene Lewis of Chickalah, Jim Lewis of the Omega Community; five daughters, Leona Dobbs of Round Rock, Texas, Nina Boswell of the Ard Community, Carolyn Rowe of the Omega Community, Marie Caldwell of Orlando, California, Sue Henderson of Little Rock; two stepdaughters, Mildie Simmitt and Mildred Villines both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.

HALE CENTER -- Funeral services for Marie Cornett Lewis, 84, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Gene Meacham, director of the Caprock-Plains Baptist Area, officiating. Burial will be in Hale Center Cemetery with Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Lewis died Sunday, November 27, 2005, at Covenant Hospital Plainview. She was born September 13, 1921, in Haskell to Junior Braxton and Elma Cornett. She married Foy Lewis on June 10, 1968, in Floydada. She lived in Hale Center most of her life. She was employed as a caregiver at Denton State School. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a very involved volunteer. She also was a member of Hale Center Senior Citizens.

Survivors include three sons, Braxton McKinney of Idalou, Donnie McKinney of Plainview and Eddie McKinney of Hale Center; two daughters, Jeannie Forrest and Kathy Sherrod of Lubbock; one stepson, Robert Lewis of Dallas; one stepdaughter, Sue Wilson of Dallas; one brother, Sonny Cornett of Hale Center; three sisters, Jeanette Steen and Nell Rogers of Hale Center and Jean Curry of Tahoka; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, James S. Moseley, Jr.; her second husband, George Lewis; one daughter-in-law, Carol Cornwell Moseley.

Neoma Fay Lewis, age 83, of Ola died Thursday, September 22, 2016, at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. She was born March 4, 1933, at Tahlequah, Oklahoma to the late Vollie Ray and Sylvia May Jones Hall. She was a cook for the Ola School District.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.C. Lewis; one great grandchild, Lucas Fisher Benefield; three brothers, Donald Ray Hall, Larry Wayne Hall, J.W. Hall.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 26, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Ola. Burial will be in Petillo Hill Cemetery. Lewis, Odell

Mr. Odell Lewis, Jr., age 75, of Danville, AR died Monday, December 2, 1996 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born in Danville, July 2, 1921, son of the late Odell Sr. and Floy Cheyne Lewis. He was a WWII Army Veteran, and retired from the Arkansas Highway Department.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lily Jean Clements Lewis.

Survivors include: his wife, Mary Nell Keathley Lewis; two daughters, Bobbye Alice Garner of Little Rock and Becky Hearrell of Branson, MO; a step-son, Buford L. (Bood) Keathley of Danville; a granddaughter; two step-granddaughters; a step-grandson and two great-grandsons.

Yeoman 1/C Richard Linscott Lewis died Wednesday, November 16, in a hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was a veteran of World War II and had served 15 years in the U. S. Navy. He had formerly served six years with the Little Rock police department. He was a member of the Chuch of Christ.

Lewis, Virgil Eugene

Virgil Eugene Lewis, 87, of Russellville, died Monday, March 2, 2015, at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home. He was born August 18, 1927, in Casa, Arkansas, to James W. and Magie Holmes Lewis. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam and a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church at Birta.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hideko Linda Lewis; a daughter, Patricia Kimzey; a brother, Jimmie Lewis; and sisters, Sue Webb and Wilma Steele.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Carol Lewis of Russellville and Jack and Vista Lewis of South Carolina; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Bobby Debnam of North Carolina; son- in-law, Ricky Kimzey of Ola; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Willie Earl "Bill" Lewis, age 88, of Little Rock, left to be with the Lord Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at his home. He was born August 18, 1928, to the late Ben T. and Media Burruss Lewis in Briggsville, Arkansas. He was a retired truck driver for South Western Transportation.

He was preceded in death by his grand daughter Meleah Ann Lewis.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Lou Ann Aikman Lewis, son, Billy R. Lichtenberger, Robert F.

Robert F. Lichtenberger, age 81, of Russellville died Tuesday at Legacy Lodge Nursing Center. He was born July 20, 1920 in Hollenberg, Kansas. He was the son of the late Howard Faye and Alta Merle Townsend Lichtenberger. He was a WWII Army Veteran and the recipient of four bronze stars. He was the plant manager of an alfalfa dehydrating plant. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Harker Heights, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Roe and Ross Lichtenberger and a sister, Shirley Munsterman.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Randy and Cheryl Lichtenberger of Russellville and Robert and Linda Lichtenberger of Harker Heights, TX; two brothers, Ralph and Rex Lichtenberger of Nebraska; a sister, Coral Schrodeer of Indiana and two grandchildren, Daniel Lichtenberger of Russellville and Kerry Lichtenberger of Copperas Cove, TX.

Wanda Jean Beatty Lick, age 50 of Dardanelle, AR and former resident of McGehee, AR, departed this life in Little Rock on January 1, 2004. She was born on February 19, 1953 the daughter of Raymond Beatty and Dolly Mason. She was a clerk at Country Mart in Dardanelle and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Beatty.

Lievsay, James E.

James E. Lievsay, 84, of Danville, Arkansas died Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville following a lengthy illness. He was born December 13, 1919 in Paris, Arkansas to the late James Martin and Hattie Burt Lievsay. He was a military and civil service retiree. He served his country as a Sgt. First Class in the U. S. Army. His military career spanned 21 years. He served in the Aleutian Islands during WWII, in Korea and in Germany. He was a member of the Dardanelle Masonic Lodge and Boyce Woods VFW Post 3141. As an avid hunter and fisherman, he was a life member of the Arkansas Fish and Game Commission.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Virginia Lievsay of Danville; one son and daughter-in-law, James D. and Linda Lievsay of Pasadena, Texas; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Chief Petty Officer James B. and Amanda Lievsay of Washington State; four great grandchildren; a niece; 4 nephews and other family members.

Graveside services officiated by Reverend Earl Stapleton with full military honors was Monday, February 9, 2004 at New Hope Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his first wife, Doris Lievsay and daughter, Brenda Lievsay. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and loyal companion, his dog, Bear.
