Huggins, Carl Carlos

Carl Carlos Huggins, age 85, of Clinton, Arkansas passed away October 15, 2010 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born December 26, 1924 at Sweetwater, Texas to Mathis and Edith Lenora Reid) Huggins. At the time of his life when he could have been enjoying a relaxing day fishing, his nature was to be working. He worked all his life at whatever it took to provide for his family from logging the mighty Spruce trees in California, delivering lumber to Fort Leonard to building barracks during the war, a feed store, American Gas Station, International dealership, and with his dozer and logging business cleared more than 7000 acres of land just for Arkansas Kraft, never forgetting about the neighbor that had one single tree down because of a wind storm. Many a man in this county will tell you "Carlos gave me my first job." He will be remembered for the loving, Christian man that helped however he could. A man that gave you the last dollar in his pocket because you needed it more than he did. A man that honored a hand shake as if it were a formal contract. During those hard times, he and Dorothy took in 22 people over the years. There was always a place at the table and a place for them to stay. He donated his time for the betterment of the others. He cleared the land that is now known as First Assembly of God Church. As a three term Justice of the Peace he performed more than 100 weddings. Member of the First Assembly of God Church, Blue Lodge, Scottish Rite and Shrine, President of the Choctaw Scimitar Club, and President of the Clinton Woodmen of the World Lodge. His master replied, Well done, thy good and faithful servant! Matthew 25:23

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Dorothy Elizabeth (Wilson) Huggins, daughter Joanne Hefner and husband Winston of Clinton, AR; son Johnny C. Huggins and wife Becky of Clinton, AR; daughter Dorothy Lavonne Roddy and husband Walter of Danville, AR; son Jimmy Dewayne Huggins and wife Denise of Scotland, AR; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grand-children, (and another one on the way) and one great-great- grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Huggins, Dorothy Elizabeth

Dorothy Elizabeth Huggins 82, of Clinton, Arkansas was called home to the Lord on the evening of Friday, November 5, 2010. It was her Faith that allows us to believe that her Eternal Life is just beginning. We know that God's arms are wrapped tightly around her, and as she laugns and smiles, she is at peace. Shed a tear and a smile at the same time; the tear is for how we will miss her, and the smile is for our knowledge of her Salvation. She woke every morning with an attitude of "What will God have me do today?" She worked tireless hours volunteering where she was needed. She took a job at Wal-Mart as a greeter and worked local elections because it gave her the oppotunity to see her many dear friends. She never met a stranger and you could be sure that there was always an extra chair at her kitchen table. She would plow, plant and tend her garden to can fresh fruits and vegetables for her family to eat throughout the year. She would help Carlos whether it was skidding logs with a mule, plowing a field, loading and driving a truck or off-bearing slabs at the sawmill. It was all for her family so she worked shoulder to shoulder with Carlos whatever the job. We know that she was a strong woman, but the softer, affectionate side of Dorothy will never be forgotten. She has wiped many a tear from a grandchild's eyes, kissed all the skinned knees and was the biggest fan at her grand-children's sporting events. She kissed the foreheads of dying friends and comforted their families. Dorothy epitomized the Virtuous Woman as described in Proverbs 31: 10-31.

She is survived by her daughter Joanne Hefner and husband Winston of Clinton, AR; son Johnny C. Huggins and wife Becky of Clinton, AR; daughter Dorothy Lavonne Roddy and husband Walter of Danville, AR; son Jimmy Dewayne Huggins and wife Denise of Scotland, AR; twenty-one grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, (and two on the way) and one great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral Service was Friday, November 12, 2010 at First Assembly of God Church Clinton, Arkansas with Pastors Michael Powers, Sheila Gardner, Michael Roberson, and Jeremy Bull officiating. Burial was at Crowell Mountain Cemetery. Pallbearers: Shawn Roddy, Wade Roddy, Michael W. Hefner, Jerl W. Hefner, Caleb Huggins, Tony E. Davis, Chandis W. Linkinogger, and Chad E. Elliott. Honorary Pallbearers: Shelly Hefner, Tori Huggins, Whitney Davis, Serena Linkinogger, Brandie Elliott, April Gardner, Jade Huggins, and Sidney Huggins.
