Kies, Caroline Jean

Caroline Jean Kies died Sunday at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. Born July 14, 2002 in Little Rock, she was the infant daughter of Billy and Cindy Hedrick Kies of Dardanelle.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Darla Jean Manning and Charlie and Jessie Hedrick.

Survivors include her parents; one sister, Kylie Hartley of Oklahoma; great-grandparents, Earl and Buena Thompson, Sr. of Dardanelle; and an aunt and uncle, Ricky and Alinda Manning of Dardanelle.

Kifer, Lorene Sullivant

Mrs. Lorene Sullivant Kifer, age 90, of Rover, died Wednesday, May 2, 1990 at the Yell County Hospital in Danville. She was a native of Belleville, daughter of the late Tom and Maude Poteet Sullivant, widow of the late Martin Kifer. She was a mother and homemaker and a member of the Rover Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, J. C. Kifer of Pine Bluff; one daughter, Ina Marie Harris of Rover; one brother, Guy Sullivant of Pine Bluff; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday at the Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Danville with Rev. John Silvey officiating. Interment was in Russell Cemetery at Belleville by Cornwell Funeral Home Danville. Kiker, Vada Ward

Mrs. Vada Ward Kiker, age 72 of Rover, died Wednesday, November 26, 1975 in the Yell County Hospital at Danville. She was a member of the Rover Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Jeff and John Cathey of Lindsey, Calif. one daughter, Mrs. Inez Bowen of Rover; one brother, Jesse Ward of Rover; five sisters, Mrs. Mary Cathey of Briggsville, Mrs. Eva Norman of Greenfield; Calif. Mrs. Amy Pickens of Bakersfield Ca;, Mrs. Bertha Brown of Strathmore, Ca. and Mrs. Edna Light of Rover; eleven grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Kilby, Jayne Earle

Jayne Earle Kilby went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 20. She was predeceased by her father, Grady Montgomery, of Carlsbad, N.M.; her mother, Ocie F. Montgomery, of Hot Springs; four brothers, Johnny Montgomery, of Briggsville, Kyle Montgomery, of Ola, Shannon Montgomery and Sherdian Montgomery, both of Hot Springs; her husband of 51 years, Vernon Wallace Kilby, of Hot Springs.

She is survived by a sister, Bonnie Lee East, of Hot Springs; a son and daughter, Howard Lee Kilby and Paula Jane Kilby, both of Hot Springs; four grandsons, Jason (Caroline) Wallace of, Los Angeles; Aaron (Sheri) O'Brien, of Brinkley; Micah John (Melonie) O'Brien, of Olney, Ill.; and Nathan Samuel (Charlene) O'Brien, of Hot Springs; 10 great-grandchildren, Ethan and David Wallace, of Los Angeles, Zack, Nikki and Drew O'Brien, of Brinkley, Debra, Distinye, Autum, Samantha and Vernon Caleb, of Hot Springs.

She was a master massage therapist and worked in the bathing industry of Hot Springs World Famous Bathhouse Row for 40 years. Jayne loved the spring waters of Hot Springs National Park. She owned the Downtown House of Beauty. Jayne enjoyed sewing and sold handmade hats in her shop "Bonnie's Sister." She loved the Lord and devoted her life to the study of God's Holy Word. She was a member of Walnut Valley Baptist Church and was reading the Bible during the closure of her life.

She received recognition from Hillary Rodham Clinton for her work with school children in Briggsville, Ark., and a Certificate of Appreciation from the Arkansas Secretary of State. She hosted the first foreign student at National Park Community College in 1974, Chiyo Murakami, of Japan.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today, Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at Caruth- Hale Funeral Home. A Celebration of Jayne's life will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home chapel with Brother Tim Forrest officiating. Burial will be at Briggsville, Ark., where she and Vernon were the founders of Briggsville Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Howard Lee Kilby, Aaron O'Brien, Bruce East, Shannon Montgomery, Paul East, J.M. Harbert and Nathan Samuel O'Brien. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Roy Puen, Dr. Bimlendra Sharma, Dr. Bertram and the staff of National Park Medical Center. Kilby, Jayne Earle (Montgomery)

Jayne Earle (Montgomery) Kilby was born in Briggsville AR in March 1928, to Grady and Ocie F. Montgomery. She died April 20, 2008 in Hot Springs.

She was predeceased by her parents; brothers Johnny, Kyle, Shannon and Sheridan Montgomery; and husband of 51 years, Vernon Wallace Kilby.

Survivors include a sister, Bonnie Lee East of Hot Springs; son and daughter Howard Lee Kilby and Paula Jane Kilby both of Hot Springs; four grandsons, Jason (Caroline) Wallace; Aaron (Sheri) O'Brien; Micah John (Melonie) O'Brien; and Nathan Samuel (Charlene) O'Brien; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services were held April 23, 2008 at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home Chapel and burial was at Mt Zion Cemetery, Briggsville, AR where she and her husband founded the Briggsville Baptist Church. Kilby, Vernon Wallace

Vernon Wallace Kilby, age 73, of Hot Springs, AR died Saturday, November 12, 1994 at his residence. He was born July 17, 1921 in Hot Springs to the late William and Do vie Qualls Kilby, he was a World War II veteran serving in the 88th Division, U. S. Army Infantry (Fighting Blue Devils), receiving five campaign ribbons and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Briggsville where he pioneered the building and served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher.

Survivors include his wife, Jayne Kilby; one son, Howard Kilby of Hot Springs; one daughter, Paula Graham of Hot Springs; four brothers, Loyd Kilby of Hendersonville, NC, Bill of Royal, James of Hot Springs and Jimmy of Sheridan; two sisters, Jane Ketzer of Hot Springs and Helen Willey of Sacramento, CA; one sister-in-law, Bonnie East of Hot Springs; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Kilgore, Bruce Lynn

Mr. Bruce Lynn Kilgore, age 64 of Rover, AR died Monday, August 14, 1995 at Chambers Memorial Hospital hi Danville. He was born in Chula, AR, September 6, 1930. He was the son of the late Edison Kilgore. He was a retired U. S. Forest Service Employee.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Faye Kilgore.

Survivors his mother, Lillian Parker Kilgore of Rover; two sons, Steven Kilgore of Briggsville and Tony Kilgore of Russellville; two daughters, Vickie Miller of Kansas City, MO and Pam Brafford of Russellville; three sisters, Betty Turner, Roena McKay and Nidra Rhorback all of Fayetteville and eight grandchildren.

Edison L. Kilgore, age 84, of Wing died Tuesday, March 8, 1983 at Fayetteville. He was a retired U.S. Forest Service employee.

Lillian Catherine Kilgore, age 95 of Springdale, died Wednesday at the Springdale Health and Rehab. Center. She was born February 14, 1908 in Scott County, Arkansas to the late Walter Virgil and Annie Maloy Parker. She was a homemaker and mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edison Kilgore and a son, Bruce Kilgore.

Survivors are three daughters, Betty Turner, Sue McKay and Nidra Rohrbach, all of Fayetteville; 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Killmer, Suzan Birtie

Mrs. Suzan Birtie Killmer, age 67, died May 2, 1956 at Oklahoma City after a lingering illness of Leukemia. She was born near Plainview on March 12, 1889. She had been an active member of the Primitive Baptist Church of Blanchard, Okla. for many years.

She is survived by her husband. Jesse Killmer; three sons, Waylon of Okla. City, Arnold of Corona, Cal. and Uion of Blanchard; three daughters, Mrs. Sally Rodgers of Blanchard, Mrs. Mary Bledsoe of Goodman, Mo. and Mrs. Cora Lea Caldwell of Okla. Kilvert, Jacqueline Rose Gateley Gillie

Jacqueline Rose Gateley Gillie Kilvert, passed away July 21, 2007 in Reye Brook, NY. She was born in Lone Pine, AR on June 15, 1920. As a child she spent time on her grandparents, Luther and Lina Shockley's farm. She was a skilled equestrian and was an excellent rifle shot, she loved yell County. She was trained in both ballet and modern dance. She appeared on stage at the Majestic and the Old Mill Theatres of Dallas, and joined Sally Rand's Touring Company, was introduced to dance impresario George Hale on a Monday and sailed with his troupe for Europe on Wednesday aboard the Normandy and danced in Cannes and London before returning to New York. She married Donald Gillies, Jr. in 1942 and raised seven daughters with him. They separated in 1971 and she married Charles A. Kilvert in 1973, whose life she shared until his death in 2000.

Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Odith and Basil Gateley, her brother, William Robert Gateley, by Donald B. Gillies, Jr. a granddaughter, Angela Joy and her husband, Charles A. Kilvert.

She is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Joy and Yancey Gillies both of Dewittville, NY, Jessie Lobo, Scarsdale, NY, Tippy Peirce, Richmond, VA, Linda Gillies and Molly Sprouse of Nantucket, MA and Patience Laws of Sydney, Australia; 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; four step children and their families and many Shockley and Gateley cousins.

Kimball, Myrtle E.

Mrs. Myrtle E. Kimball, age 86, formerly of South Dakota, died Monday, January 20, 1997 at the Dardanelle Nursing Facility. She was born April 14, 1910 in Summett, SD, to the late Carl and Anna Oakland Olson. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold R. Kimball.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Margaret Kimball of Dardanelle; one daughter and son-in-law, Harolyn and Don Skadeland of Omaha, NB; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Melba Lee Kimberly, age 72, of Plainview, formerly of Austin, TX, former co-owner, and operator of Amco Fence of Austin, wife of Charlie C Kimberly, died April 21. Mrs. Kimberly was a member of First United Methodist Church and had attended the University of Arkansas and Arkansas State Teachers College, Conway.

Mr. Leo K. Kimbrough, age 81, of Russellville, AR died Sunday, May 2, 1999 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Morrilton, AR. He was born February 17, 1918 in Danville, AR to the late Calvin Thomas and Hattie Mae Norwood Kimbrough. He was a Veteran of WWII and baptized into the World Wide Church of God on October 10, 1984.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Arvil, Cecil, Herman, Glen and Infant Kimbrough and one sister, Classie Bowerman.

Survivors are his wife, Wanell Tidwell Kimbrough; son and daughter-in-law, Clinton and Jeaney Kimbrough of Danville, AR; daughter, Martha Kimbrough of Little Rock, AR; grandson, Justin Kimbrough of Danville, AR and several nephews, nieces and a host of friends.

Kimbrough, Tom

Tom Kimbrough, age 69, of Chalybeate died Saturday, September 15, 1954, while on the way to a hospital in Little Rock. His son, Herman Kimbrough, and son-in-law, Dwight Bowerman, were taking him to University Hospital and said that he died just as they were getting into Little Rock

Kimzey, Modean O.

Modean O. Kimzey, age 86 of Ola, AR died Monday, May 9, 2005 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. The daughter of Aaron "A.K." and Nancy (Sullivan) George, she was born July 12, 1918 near Centerville. She grew up in Yell County where she chopped and picked cotton as a teenager in Carden Bottoms. During WWII she moved to Detroit where she worked at Parke Davis Pharmaceuticals. In the 1950's, she and her two sisters and their families moved to Wichita, Kansas. She worked at Kress Department Store in Derby, Kansas where she met Leonard Kimzey. They married on December 12, 1953 in Derby, Kansas in the home of her sister, Hattie Holbrook. At the age of 38 she gave birth to her only son, Ricky. She loved singing both to her son and also with the family quartet at church which included her three brothers. In 1975 the family returned to her beloved childhood home in Yell County. She was a homemaker and took great joy in spending time with her two granddaughters. She was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Birta for 65 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard F. Kimzey and was also preceded in death by her parents, four brothers Frank, Aaron, Hayden and Rufus George; two sisters Lyda Rodgers and Hattie Holbrook and an infant sister, Ruth Elizabeth George.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Ricky and Patricia Kimzey of Ola, two grandchildren Sarah and Hannah Kimzey of Ola, a brother Marlin George of Birta, two sisters Mary Ann Rodgers of Ola and Verdell Ellison of Birta, her caregiver Sarah Burnett of Ola, and her special little friend Brayden Burnett of Ola. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2005 at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Bro. Jon Holbrook, Bro. Ron Whittle, Bro. Eddie Rogers and Virgil Lewis will officiate. Burial will be at Birta Cemetery by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be 6-8:30 pm Wednesday at the funeral in Russellville. King M.D., John W.

John W. King M. D. 67, of Russellville, AR, died peacefully at his home on Thursday, August 24, 2006, surrounded by his wife and children. He was born March 29, 1939 in Little Rock, the son of John Dee and Marquetta Lois King. He married Hazelene Lois Cummings on July 4, 1959.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Joyce King Cook.

He is survived by his wife, Hazelene King; his daughters Tracey Elaine Carr, Jamie Diane Brown, and Christy Leigh King; his son John Bradley King; his brother Bobby Dee King and wife LiHsiang King; and his grandchildren Kelsey and Collin Brown.

He graduated from Ft. Smith High School where he was an Honor Graduate and a member of the Sports Hall of Champions where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball, garnering All-State honors in each sport and attended Arkansas Tech, where he earned both academic and athletic honors, playing football and basketball and making All-AIC teams in football, as well as finishing as the top Tech Science student his senior year and tying for 1st in Arkansas in Science. He was offered a Rhodes Scholarship upon graduation from Tech but declined that honor in favor of attending medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. He interned at William Beaumont Hospital, El Paso, TX, did his Radiology residency at Brooke Army Medical Center, San Antonio, TX, from and was Chief of Radiology at Ft. Campbell, KY. He practiced alone in Russellville for 3 years before being joined by James G. Burgess, M. D. and eventually the two formed Radiologists of Russellville, P. A. which continues today.

A memorial service was held August 26, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church at Russellville, where he was a member, with the Rev. Mackey Yokem and Rev. David Scroggin officiating. Burial was private in Rest Haven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service. King, Bill

Bill King, Jr. age 72, a resident of Ola, AR died Friday, October 30, 1998 at Arkansas Heart Hospital at Little Rock, AR. He was born on November 13, 1925 at Beebe, AR to Bill and Mattel Freeman) King. He was a carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Local Union 1836. He was a Marine Veteran of WWII, having served in the Philippines, a member of the Petit Jean Masonic Lodge 298 at Ola and was a Methodist.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Norma Lee McNeal.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene King, of Ola, AR; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Bill and Judy King, David King, Jackie and Donna King and James and Sandra King all of Ola and Danny and Kathy King of Plainview, AR; 15 grandchildren and 7 seven great-grandchildren.

Clara E. King, age 88, of Pottsville died Friday, December 12, 2003, at Ola, Arkansas. She was born March 20, 1915, in Brush Hill, McIntosh County, Oklahoma to the late Arthur and Jennetta Josephine Buckner Dodson. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pottsville First Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Rev. Eldon Leroy King; sons, Travis L. King of Cheyenne, WY, Rev. James C. King, Sr. of Vilonia, AR, Rev. Phillip R. King of Romance, AR; daughters, Virginia Tramel of Russellville, Wanda R. Collins of Little Rock, Donna M. Woolf of Pottsville; sisters, Wanda L. Clanton of Virginia Beach, VA, Norma Sims of El Campo, TX; 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at the First Assembly of God in Pottsville with Rev. James C. King and Rev. Phillip R. King officiating. King, Cleo Leon

Cleo Leon King, age 83, passed away Monday, January14, 2008. He was born August 23, 1924 in Gravelly, AR, to Lillie and Edgar King. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, and saw action at Okinawa, Ryukyus Islands and the occupation of China. He was married to Mary Charlene Smith for 59 years, until her death in 2001. He was an auto body mechanic for over 30 years at Bill White (Riverside) Chevrolet. After retiring he became a school bus driver for Union Public Schools, where he won "Bus Driver of the Year" in 2001. He was a member of South Lakewood Baptist Church. He had been a deacon and a choir director. He was a 32nd degree Mason.

He was preceded in death by Charlene; brother, Odell King; sister, Ethel Kitchens and husband, Jess; brother, Robert King and wife, Nellie sister, Lula King; brother-in-law, Robert Hidde; and brother-in-law, Oragel Jones.

He is survived by daughter, Sharon & Bill Grimm; son, Johnny King; a grandson; sister, Nadine Hidde, sister, Louise Jones of Danville, AR, sister, Leah & Rex Hunt of Grass Valley, CA; and brother, Leo & Clara King of Fort Smith, AR.

Deborah Ridings King, age 37, of Conway, AR formerly of Russellville, AR died Sunday, October 22, 2000 at her home. She was born October 25, 1962 in Hammond, IN to O'Neal and Wanda Holloway Ridings; she was a member of Second Baptist Church in Russellville. She received a bachelor's degree in accounting, from ATU and a master's degree in business operation from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

She was preceded in death by two grandfathers, a step-grandfather, a grandmother and an uncle.

She is survived by, her husband, Donald King; her parents, O'Neal and Wanda Ridings; a brother, Timothy Ridings of Lonoke, AR; a grandmother; two uncles; several nieces and nephews; father and mother-in-law, James and Pauline King of Russellville, AR and a special companion, her dog Xena.

Funeral service will be today, at 10 a. m. Wednesday at Shinn Chapel in Russellville with the Rev. David McLemore officiating. Burial will be in Havana Cemetery in Yell County under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service. Eldon Leroy King, 93, of Pottsville, AR went to be with the Lord, Friday, June 19, 2009 at St. Marys Hospital. He was born February 25, 1916 in Chickalah to the late Thomas and Ethel King. He was a sawmiller, farmer and retired ordained Assembly of God minister.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Edith Dodson King; parents, four sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include six children and spouses, Travis and Ann King of Cheyenne, WY, Virginia and Robert Tramel of Russellville, Rev. James and Judy King of Vilonia, Rev. Philip and Mary King of Romance, AR, Wanda and Herbert Collins of Little Rock and Donna and George Woolf of Pottsville; a sister, Melda Vae Walker of Ozark, AR; 17 grandchildren 32 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and friends.

Ernest Lewis King, age 58, of Dardanelle, died Friday, April 30, 2010. He was born April 22, 1952, in Danville to Ernest Glen and Hazel Diana West King. He was the owner of Lewis King Construction in Dardanelle.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Linda Ingram King; children and spouses, Shane and Suzanne King of Wichita, KS, Carla and Dusten Trent of Dover, and Ben and Charity King of Delaware; brothers and sisters-in-law, Glen and Sue King, Charles and Jerri King all of Centerville; grandsons, Allen, Justin, Samuel, and Daniel King, and Jacob Trent.

Jackie King, 48 of Ola died Friday, August 13, 2004 at Saint Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. He was born November 7, 1955, in Danville to Lorene King and the late Bill King Jr. He was a plant maintenance repairman for Entergy, a member of Petit Jean Lodge 298 and a thirty-second degree Mason.

Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Donna Buford King; a daughter and son-in-law, Jackie Beth and Alan Johnston of Vicksburg, Mississippi; a son, Kyle King, of Ola; one granddaughter, Anna Elizabeth Johnston of Vicksburg; his mother, Lorene King of Ola; four brothers, Bill King and David King, both of Ola, Danny King of Plainview and Jimmy King of Kingston; and many nephews and nieces.

Funeral was held on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with the Rev. Michael Qualls officiating. Burial will be in Sandlin Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wiley A. King.

King, Loyle F. "Bud"

Loyle F. "Bud" King, age 86, of Russellville, formerly of Ola, AR died Friday, March 9, 2007 at Legacy Lodge Nursing Home in Russellville, AR. The son of Ed and Ruby Thorpe King, he was born August 13, 1920 in Ola. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He married Wanda Dalton on May 7, 1946 at Rogers, Arkansas. He worked first as a lineman for Bell Telephone in Rogers. The family later moved to Ola where he worked in the timber industry, first as a surveyor and later at the sawmill as a saw-filer. He worked a total of 35 years, retiring from Deltic Timber in 1982. He was a member of the American Legion Post at Ola and the Plainview Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a charter member of the Ola Volunteer Fire Department. He was a longtime member of the Ola United Methodist Church and later a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Russellville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, Doyle R. King, two sisters, Vera Cooke, Evelyn Badger and a grandson, Greg King.

Survivors include his wife Wanda King of Russellville; four sons, Joe & Robin King of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Gary Karen King of St. Peters, MO, Richard & Barbara of Pottsville, Ray& Angela of Atkins; eight grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild.

A memorial graveside service was held March 12, 2007 at Sandlin Cemetery at Ola with Rev. Blake Bradford officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.
