Cecil James, age 77 of Gravelly, died Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, He was born February 9, 1925 in the Freedom Creek Community, Scott County, Arkansas to the late Perry Chaplin and Lessie C. Hunt James. He was a retired farmer and carpenter and a member of the Free Will Baptist Church. He was a WWII Navy veteran, serving on the USS Billy Sunday.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Calvin James and Roy Syler; four brothers, Virgil James, Jesse James, Lynn James, Perry James, Jr. and one sister, Laurie Fowler.
Survivors are his wife of 40 years, Willa Dean Morehead James; six sons, Glen James of Freeport, Texas, Gary James of LaPorte, Texas, Randy James of Tulia, Texas, Tim James of Kokomo, Indiana, Mike James of Nazareth, Texas, Roscoe Wagner of Mt. Pine, Arkansas; two daughters, Cathron James of Unionville, Missouri, Marilyn Gipson of Amherst, Texas; brother, Wayne E. James of Gravelly; sister, Sadie Fowler of Dutch Creek Community; 22 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren.
Services were Saturday, January 11, 2003, at the Mulberry Free Will Baptist Church in Gravelly with Rev. Charlie Jones officiating. Interment was in Parks Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville. Mrs. Jessie James, age 74, formerly Miss Ellen Bottoms, a daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Thomas Bottom, died in her home in Bluffton, Yell County, Sunday.

Gladys James, age 76, a resident of Russellville, AR, died Thursday, February 6, 1997 at Stella Manor Nursing Center at Russellville. She was born on February 12, 1920 at Waveland, AR to Herman and Rilla P. Phillips Thomas. She was a homemaker. She was the widow of the late John T. James whom she married on November 25, 1939 at Ft. Smith. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Russellville.
Survivors include two sons, John W. James of Seattle, WA and Bobby D. James of Lurton, AR; two daughters, Susan J. Brady and Julia D. Parker both of Russellville; eight grandchildren and two nieces.
Funeral service was February 10, 1997 at the Humphrey Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jesse B. Rye. Burial was in Moore's Chapel Cemetery at Waveland. Glendon D. James, age 78 of Waveland, AR died Sunday, January 25, 2004 at Sparks Memorial Hospital in Ft. Smith, AR. He was born February 7, 1925 in Waveland, AR to the late Arthur and Ovelene Catlett James. He was a WWII Navy Veteran, member of the Waveland United Methodist Church and a retired cattle farmer and poultry producer.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Ray, Raydus and Opal James.
He is survived by his wife, Mona Weatherall James; two step daughters, Sandra Lustig of Waveland and Marcia Hockaday of Houston, TX; a brother, Noble James of Waveland; a sister, Edna Littlefield of Waveland and six step-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.

Jerry Dean James, age 72, of Dardanelle died Monday, July 9, 2007 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. He was born May 4, 1935 in Paron to the late Marshall and Dora Hogue James. He was a contractor and a member of the Levy Church of Christ in North Little Rock.

Vernon Missionary Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II.

John W. James of Russellville died August 20, 2006 at his home. He was born in Yell County off Piney Road, to Marion Hobert and Lela Edna Apple James. He was a graduate of Havana High School, a loving husband, rather, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a true friend. He was a United States World War II Army veteran, awarded 3 Bronze Stars in overseas campaigns. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Media Beth James, age 81, of Waveland, AR died September 15, 2005. She was born June 1, 1924 to her parents, Harley Thomas and Mary E. Ricker Williams. She married Noble H. James and they recently celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary. She graduated from Havana High School in 1943. She then attended the College of the Ozarks, graduated from and received her BSE degree from the Arkansas Teachers College in Conway in 1953. She taught in several area elementary schools and retired in 1994. She was a member of the Arkansas Teachers Association, a member of the Waveland United Methodist Church where she served as secretary and treasurer for 36 years and taught the elementary Sunday School class for 50 years and was a member of the Waveland EH Club.
She is survived by her husband, Noble H. James four sisters, Willie McBride of Danville, AR, Virginia James and Ruby McKee both of Waveland, AR and Frances Mathis of Shawnee, OK and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was September 17, 2005 at the Waveland Community Church in Waveland with burial in Moore's Chapel Cemetery in Waveland, AR under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Booneville, AR. He received his bachelor of science from Arkansas Tech University in Russellville and a master degree in Agriculture from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He was a WWII Army/Air Force Veteran, member of the Lions Club and the United Methodist Church in Waveland. He retired after 29 years as a County Extension Agent with the University of Arkansas Extension Service.
He was preceded in death by three brothers John James, Ray James and Opal James.

Robert Jessie James, age 77, of Danville, AR died Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville, AR. He was born August 24, 1923 in Havana, AR to the late Jake Sr. and Vela Mobley James. He was a member of the Baptist Church, a 32 degree Mason and retired after thirty years as a foreman of a chicken catching crew for Wayne Poultry in Danville.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, John James and Jim James and one sister, Lizzy Priddy.
Survivors are, one brother, Jake Jr. and Ruthie James of Danville, AR; one sister and brother-in-law, Florene and Carroll Ramey of Danville, AR and a sister-in-law, Lucille James of Danville and several nephews and nieces.
Services were Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Danville with Rev. Charles Lacy Minnie and Rev. Delton Beall officiating. Local Man and Companion Killed by Falling Boom -- Doyle Luker, of Little Rock formerly of Plainview and Sidney James Jr., North Little Rock were killed Tuesday afternoon when a boom of a crane fell and crushed them.
Luker was a veteran of World War II, serving as an aviation ordinance man in the Pacific. He entered the service in May 1940 and received his discharge in May 1946, having earned 13 battle stars in the Pacific. Luker's only brother was killed in the Pearl Harbor attach. Una Fair James, passed away September 15, 2002 at the age of 78. She was born March 26, 1924 in Dabney, Arkansas to Celce and Annie Martindale Bridges. Fair was saved and baptized at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church near Tilly, Arkansas. Fair was married to the late Jessie Robert James and was a member of Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Gravelly, Arkansas where she had lived since 1945. She was a mother and worked on the farm with her family all her life.

Vernon Lloyd James, 88, formerly of Blue Ball, Arkansas, died Monday, August 14, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville, Arkansas. Born September 5, 1917 at Blue Ball, to the late Richard Thomas James and Oma Ann McCubbins James. He was a member of the Egypt Freewill Baptist Church of Blue Ball and retired since, August 1979 from Pennzoil United Gas Company of Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Kenneth Lloyd James of San Antonio, TX; a sister, Sybil Juanita James Tidwell of Nowata, OK and a brother, Burlous James.

Virginia James, age 86 of Waveland, AR, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Oak Manor Nursing and Rehab in Booneville. She was born January 23, 1923 in Waveland, AR to the late Harley Thomas and Mary Ricker Williams. She was a member and Sunday School teacher at Waveland Community Church, past president of the Yell County E. H. Council, member of the Waveland E. H. Club and retired Arkansas Teachers Association.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raydus Ree James; sisters, Willie McBride and Media Beth James.

William Thomas James, who formerly lived for many years in the Piney neighborhood; but for the past few years at Bauxite, passed away there on October 16th, 1948 and was buried at the Piney Cemetery Sunday evening, October 17th, in the presence of many of his old friends and relatives. Mr. Bobbie Harold Jay, age 69, of Delaware, AR died Sunday, March 9, 1997 at the Dardanelle Hospital. He was born December 31, 1927 in Delaware, AR to the late Lee and Pearl Griffen Jay. He was a WWII and Korean Veteran receiving the Purple Heart. He retired from the Navy after serving 21 years and was a member of the New Blaine VFW Post Brewer-Rollins 8383 and a farmer.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Orvil Jay, Lee Roy Jay and Glen Jay and two sisters, Ima Manuel and Oral Manuel.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Lee Burris Jay; two sons, Robert Michael Jay of Houston, TX and Franklin Lee Jay of New Blaine, AR; three daughters, Anita Jay of Little Rock, Deborah Enterkin of Plant City, TX and Anna Marie Felscher of La Port, TX; a brother, Kenneth Jay of Dardanelle; two half brothers, Milburn Jay of Redding, CA and Rev. Clora Keys (Rolston) Jay, age 83, of Oklahoma City, OK passed away January 9, 1999 at South Park Nursing Home where she has lived since December 16, 1997. She was born November 4, 1915 in Dardanelle, AR. to James Bradford and Tobitha Jane (Billings) Keys. She was one of seven children. She married her first husband, David Joseph Roulston March 7, 1931. He preceded her in December 6, 1970. She married George Jay in 1974. She has lived in Oklahoma City for the past 61 years. She was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. In 1941 she began working at Wilson Food Company until her retirement. She enjoyed spending her time gardening and with her granddaughter and great-granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Clarence, Bruce and Carl Keys.
She is survived by one son, Doryce Roulston and his wife, Ora Lena of Del City, OK; granddaughter Kelly and her husband, Bob Weaver of Okla. City, OK and two great granddaughters, Courtney and Hayley Weaver; a brother, George Keys of Dardanelle, AR; two sisters, Clara Parker of OKC and Mary Ferbee of Virginia Beach, VA; as well as many other loved ones and friends.
