Ives, Cecil Ernest

Cecil Ernest Ives was born November 16, 1899 and died July 23, 1955. He lived in the Spring Creek community from 1912 to 1943 and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Ives, Rufus F. (Mrs.)

Mrs. Rufus F. Ives, age 75, died in her home in Belleville, Thursday, May 4, 1950 after a long illness. She lived in Yell County for many years. She and the late Mr. Ives moved to Belleville in November of 1946. Since Mr. Ives death, her eldest son and his wife have lived with her.

Survivors include two sons, Cecil Ives of Belleville and Carlton Ives of Carlsbad, New Mex.; two sisters, Mrs. N. B. Ivey, Mrs.

Mrs. Ivey was a lifelong resident of Danville. She was born October 24, 1887, was married to Wallace Ivey in 1908 and to this union was born six children, three of whom are deceased.

Pearlie Viola Ivey, age 84 of Cabot, formally of Danville, died Saturday, January 12, 2008 at St. Vincent's Infirmary in Little Rock, AR. Born July 3, 1923 in Logan County, AR to the late Robert & Olive Rana Chappell, she was a homemaker and a member of the Danville United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by husband, Jimmie Ivey; brothers Earl & Carl Chappell; sisters, Erma Kirkland, Alice Creekmore, Dorothy Barnett, Marie Barnett & Imogene Pickins.

Survivors include daughters & sons-in-law, Pat & Bill Greer of Branson, Missouri, Donna & Romie Walker of Cabot; sister, Beadie Lane of Stanton, California, 3 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; 6 step-grandchildren; 17 step-great-grandchildren.

Ivey, Velma Marie Mcconnell

Velma Marie McConnell Ivey, age 75, of Centerville. AR died Saturday, June 21 2003 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. She was born March 18 1928 in Bluffton, AR to the late Thomas Jack and Willie May Dobbs McConnell. She was a mother, a homemaker, retired from Con Agra Frozen Foods and attended the Ola Free Will Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claxton Ivey, two sisters and 11 brothers.

Survivors include; four sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Linda Ivey of Dardanelle, AR, Don Ivey of Pottsville, AR, Tommy Ivey of Dardanelle and Roger Dale and Patti Ivey of Centerville, AR; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and James Moore of Chickalah, AR; a brother, E. T. McConnell of Belleville, AR; two sisters, Odell Cozad of Mt. Pine, AR and Winnie Rubo of Adona, AR; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Funeral service was June 23, 2003 at the Ola First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Denver Robinson and Rev. Bobby Wells officiating. Interment was in Bluffton Cemetery, Bluffton, AR. Ivy, Euel Dean Swaim

Euel Dean Swaim Ivy, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and inspiration to many more, died October 2, 2001 at her home in Louisiana, she was 68 years and a former resident of Aly. She was the daughter of the late Gib and Clara Swaim. She was a member of Colyell Baptist Church, a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Sr. Citizen group at the church and a youth sponsor.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Youlanda and Joe Massey; her son, Geno Ivy; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Nikki and Joe Bo Massey and James Joshua Ivy; a great-grandchild, Michael Massey; two sisters, and brothers-in-law, Bobbie Jean and Bob Gillum and Betty and Bud Watts; three brothers and sisters-in-law, O. L. Swaim, Shelly and Nona Swaim and Royce and Sandra Swaim and a host of other relatives and friends.

Services were conducted by Rev. Sandy Sherman at Colyell Baptist Church in Louisiana. Burial was in the Cemetery at Colyell. Betty Jane Jackson, age 71, of Dardanelle died Sunday, July 24, 2005. She was born July 8, 1934 in Osage, Oklahoma, to the late Leonard and Gladys (Tillman) Miller. She worked in Quality Control for ConAgra Frozen Foods, a member of the Russellville First Assembly of God Church, the Plainview VFW Auxiliary, and the Plainview Women" E.H. Club.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Callie Cox.

Survivors include her husband, C.L. Jackson two sons and daughter-in-law, Keith Vess of Dardanelle and Kenneth and Barbara Vess of Dover three step-children, Jerry Jackson of Atkins, Melody Wilson of Searcy, Sheryl Ann Garrison of Russellville three brothers, Jack Miller of Bristow, OK, Don Miller of Coweta, OK and Larry Miller of Jennings, OK three sisters, Maxine Butler of Mannford, OK, Bernice Blevins of Claremore, OK, Anna Belle Graves of Austin, TX, 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Calvin James Jackson, age 87, of Dardanelle, AR died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at his home. The son of Edgar and Lillie Mae Octavia Holland Jackson, he was born November 10, 1919 in DeQueen, AR. He was a United States Veteran. He was a Farmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby May Jackson and was also by his parents; one son, Calvin Ray Jackson; one grandson, James Keith Jackson; one brother; and two sisters.

Survivors include; two sons Jimmy Jackson of Sawyer, OK and Billy James Jackson of Tulare, CA; four daughters, Kathy Lavonne Jackson of Bullhead City, AZ, Connie Sue Ansiel of Sawyer, OK, Janet Lynn Dann of Dardanelle, AR and Alice May Cochran of CA; sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Clarence E. "Gene" Jackson, age 61, a resident of Danville, AR. and former resident of Russellville, AR. died Sunday, March 28, 1999 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born July 10, 1937 at London, AR. to the late Everett B. and Nettie Kinslow Jackson. He was retired from ConAgra and formerly owned and operated Gene Jackson Glass and Mirror Company. He was a former member of the Pope County Search and Marine Rescue Unit and Pope County Civil Defense Unit. He was of the Assembly of God faith.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Leon Jackson.

Elbernice Jackson, 69, of Greenwood, Arkansas died Monday, December 26, 2005 in Fort Smith Hospital. She was a respiratory Inhalation Therapist and a Jehovah s Witness. She was born October 8, 1936 in Danville, AR to Hayden Glynas Moudy and Roxie Kennon Moudy. She loved to play music and sing.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Lee Jackson of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda and Larry Kendall of Russellville, Teresa and Kenny Whitehead of Greenwood, AR, Barbara and R. L. Jackson, Guthrie

Guthrie Jackson, age 95 of Russellville, widow of Alfred Joseph Jackson, died Monday, October 20, 2003 at Legacy Lodge Nursing Home in Russellville. She was born September 30, 1908 in Atkins, Arkansas to the late Leroy and Carrie Smith Wilson. She retired after forty years as a teacher and then became a social worker for ten years before retiring. She was the founder and operator of Bethlehem daycare center "the very first state funded daycare center and the very last one to close". During the integration years she worked alongside of Ms. Daisy Bates and Charles Evers (brother of slain civil rights activists Medger Evers) and she was also the spearhead for integrating the Russellville school system. She was the last charter member and corresponding secretary of the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Russellville, was a member of the League of Women Voters, Eastern Star, Russellville EH Club, Home Extension Organization, and Local Ladies Missionary Society. She was assistant recording secretary for Middle Western District Missionary Society. She was assistant recording secretary for Middle Western District Women's Auxiliary and taught 35 years as a teacher for Middle Western District Congress. She was also a member of the Gold Hill Missionary Baptist Church and a published author who belonged to several literary organizations.

Survivors are a son, Aimer Lynn Jackson of Russellville; one sister, Ida Mae Shaw of Louisville, Kentucky; five grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Services were Saturday, October 25, 2003 at the Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church with Rev. Freddie David officiating. Interment was in Reed Cemetery, Russellville by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle. Helen Marie Jackson, age 78, of Dardanelle died Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Little Rock. She was born September 6, 1929 in Havana, to the late Troy William and Florence "Ozelma" Wilkinson James. She was a member of the Upper Spring Creek Free Will Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Norma Jean Ferguson.

Survivors include sons Kenneth Jackson of Belleville, James Harold Jackson, Willie Jackson; sisters and brother-in-law Hazel and Carroll Herbert Lee James of Danville; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Jason Jackson, age 29 of Danville, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, October 18, 2008 at UAMS in Little Rock. He was born July 13, 1979, in Danville. He had worked as a stacker at Sav-A-Sum in Danville and a security guard at Wayne Poultry. He was a 1998 Danville High School graduate.

Jerry Wayne Jackson, age 58, of Dardanelle, AR died Sunday, August 8, 2004 at his home. He was born February 12, 1946 at Dardanelle and was employed by the Yell County Road Department.

He is survived by his parents, Sidney and Pearlie Jackson of Harkeys Valley; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Carolyn Jackson of Harkeys Valley and Billy and Bonnie Jackson of Dardanelle; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Kay Hawks of Harkeys Valley and Mary Louise and Lawayne Holt of Mt. George, AR; several nephews, nieces, step children and step grandchildren.

Jackson, Jewell Orvell

Service held For Lt. J. O. Jackson - Lieutenant Jewell Orvell Jackson, son of H. D. and Nannie L. Jackson of Havana, was born in Havana, June 30th, 1913 and was killed in action on Okinawa may 23, 1945 at the age of 31 years. He was raised and schooled at Havana and Waveland, except the last four years of his high schooling which were at Morringsport, La. He enlisted as a private in Company "F" 184th Infantry of the U. S. Army at San Mateo, California in 1941, was soon promoted to Staff Sergeant and spent the next two years training soldiers for service in the rapidly spreading conflict. He was then sent to Ft. Benning, Georgia to an Officers Training School, where he rapidly made all grades and was sent across to rejoin his Company, which had preceded him to the Central Pacific area. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Besides his parents, surviving him are four brothers, W. D. Jackson of Fort Smith; R. M. Jackson, Pontiac, Mich., Fields Jackson, Okinawa; Martin Jackson, Pontiac, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Beulah Adkison, Blanchard, La., Mrs. Zula Kyles and Mrs. Ruby Purser, Tulsa, Okla. Leroy Jackson, age 85 of Danville, passed away Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital. He was born October 21, 1924 in Fort Smith, AR to the late Marshall Lee and Gladys Andrew McGee Jackson.

Jackson, Perry Lee, Sr.

Perry Lee Jackson, Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 in Morrilton. He was born March 15, 1950 to Calvin and Willene Jackson in Beebe. To that union, eight children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Terry Jackson and his wife, Barbara Jackson.

Russell Gene "Russ" Jackson, age 54, a resident of Pottsville, AR died Wednesday, May 24, 2000 at St. Vincent's Infirmary at Little Rock, AR. He was born on August 20, 1945 at Jasper, AR to Evan Eugene Jackson and Vice Melscena Asher Jackson. He was an Arkansas State Highway (D. O. T.) Police Officer. He was a member of the Eagles Club and Arkansas State Highway Police Honor Guard.

He was preceded in death by his father, one brother, Arley Jackson and a sister, Catherine Rindleman.

Survivors include his mother, Vice M. Jackson of Russellville, AR; one son, Christopher Jackson of Mountain Home, AR; two daughters, Mellissa and Thelma Jackson both of Mountain Home, AR; five grandchildren, Chase Jackson, Justin Studdard, Brandon Hall, Amanda Conklin and Alana Jackson; one brother, Tommy Jackson of Scottsville, AR; three sisters, Rose Coger and Nora Harshaw both of Russellville, AR and Barbara Swilley of Pottsville, AR and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Third Man to Drown At Lake Within A Month... Samuel Andrew Jackson, age 56, was drowned at Lake Nimrod about 9 a.m. Sunday. Jackson became separated from three other members of a fishing party, and was fishing from the bank at the mouth of Porter Creek, which runs into the lake near Plainview. When his friend missed him a search was made the body was recovered from 11 feet of water near the bank. He is believed to have stumbled and fallen in the creek. Jackson, Sidney Ely

Sidney Ely Jackson, age 92, of Dardanelle, died Sunday, June 7, 2009 at River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle. Born February 22, 1917, in Harkey Valley, he was the son of the late Pete and Cora Collins Jackson. During his life, he hauled milk to Paris, ran a grist mill, made meal, caught chickens and hauled them to Russellville, picked cotton, and worked at Morse Mill Co. in Ola many years ago. He helped his father run a store in Harkey Valley, hauled logs and pulpwood, and ran a saw mill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, George and Herman Jackson; two sisters, Flora Jackson and Leona Jackson Roland; a son, Jerry Wayne Jackson; three grandchildren, Blaine and Michelle Holt, Evan Ramberg; and a brother-in-law, Jack Coffey.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Pearlie Butler Jackson; two sons, James Jackson and wife, Carolyn of Harkey Valley, Billy Jackson and wife, Bonnie of Dardanelle; two daughters, Kay Hawks of Harkey Valley, Louise Holt and husband, Lawayne of Mt. George; a sister, Myrtle Coffey of Dardanelle; a brother, David Jackson and wife, Marie of Lone Grove, OK; two sisters-in-law, Maurine Jackson and Mildred Jackson; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Betty June Jacobs, age 67, of Houston, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2000 at Columbia Spring Branch Medical Center. Jaggers, Ada Levona Farnam

Ada Levona Farnam Jaggers, age 82 of Dardanelle, died Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born January 6, 1925 at New Blaine to the late Seth Reed and Mamie Wood Farnam. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Dardanelle. For many years, she worked in the nursery at the different Baptist Churches and was volunteer home room mother at school while her children were in school. She was very industrious, a hard worker, excellent cook and seamstress. Her siblings lovingly referred to her as "Sis"

She is preceded in death by her parents; her first husband of 34 years, Boyd Monroe Hodges and her second husband of 12 years, William "Buddy" Jaggers; brother, S. R. Farnam and a sister, Joyce Oleta Sims.

Survivors include a son, Monroe Reed Hodges of Dardanelle and his wife Monika; daughters, Kathy Hodges Jones and husband Jack of Dardanelle; Beth Hodges Green and husband Terry of Mountain Home; brothers, Leroy Farnam of Russellville, Donald "Sonny Boy" Farnam of Dardanelle; sister Jewel Pennington of Dardanelle; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 1, 2007 at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle, with Bro. David Jay officiating. Interment was in Durvin Cemetery in Delaware.
