Holstein, Otis Roy "Pete"

Otis Roy "Pete" Holstein, age 48 of Belleville, died Saturday, February 22, 2003, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. He was born September 7, 1954, in Yuba City, California.

He was preceded in death by his father, Doyle Holstein and a baby daughter, Nicole Dawn Holstein.

Survivors include his wife, Katharine Holstein of Belleville, AR; daughters, Shirley Holstein and Kathy Holstein of the home; step daughter, Dametra Wright of Marshall, AR; mother and stepfather, Shirley and Sherman Bain of Belleville, AR; brothers, Craig "Buddy" Holstein, of Pasadena, FL, Leo Holstein of Pottsville, AR, Brian Holstein of Belleville, AR; a sister, Tammy Langston of Russellville, AR; a grandson, Lucas Wilfond

Holt, Byron C.

Byron C. Holt, age 88 of Belleville, AR died Friday, March 28, 2008 at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. He was born November 10, 1919 in Charleston, MS to the late Leroy Edwin and Phebia Jane Emmaline Crow Holt. He retired after 30 years as a supervisor for the felt mills industry, was a farmer and a member of the Free Will Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Addie Belle Holt and a son, John Ford Holt.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Virgie Hunt Holt; two sons, Byron Ronald Holt of Shawnee, OK and Delbert Roy Hunt of Abbot, AR; four daughters, Gayla Beckwith of Midlothian, TX, Gwen Hulsey of Brilliant, AL, Marilyn Kay Horn of Danville, AR and Mary Ann Sims of Searcy, AR; a sister, Gertrude Peacock of Mississippi; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Service was March 31, 2008 at the Free Will Baptist Church in Blue Ball with Rev. Michael Beckwith officiating. Burial was in the Egypt Cemetery. C. J. Holt -Funeral services were conducted in the Danville Baptist Church December 18, 1947, for C. J. Holt, Little Rock, formerly of Danville, by Rev. John A. Freeman, Danville, assisted by Rev. Holt, James Nathan

James Nathan Holt, Jr. of Danville died Monday, January 1, 2001, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, AR. He was born November 15, 1935 in Yell County, AR, the son of James Nathan Sr. and Josie Owens Holt. He was a glass glazer retiring from Russellville Glass and a member of the Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Mary Sue Rogers Holt; his sons, Harry Hogan, Topeka, KS, Roger Hogan, Lebanon, IN and David Holt of Danville, AR; daughter, Brenda Boutbee, Knoxville, AR; two sisters, Joyce McNeil of Des Arc, AR and Charlene George of Conway, AR; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Holt, John Edwin

John Edwin Holt, age 73 of Belleville, died Tuesday, January 27, 2009. He was born July 18, 1935 at Dutch Creek to the late Gurnia and Anna Chism Holt. He was a member of the Mt. George Church of Christ, a U. S. Navy Veteran and a County JP for 13 years. He was an avid thoroughbred horse trainer, a member of the Ola School Board for 18 years, the first Fan of the Year Recipient for the Ola Mustangs and coached pee wee ball during the 1970's and 1980's for the Ola Mustangs.

Survivors include his mother, Anna Holt of Mt. George; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Jesse Justice of Danville, Sandra Holt of Mt. George, Christine and Jerry Brarinon of Dardanelle; son, Gurnia "Gene" Holt of Mt. George; grandchildren, Johnathan and Jessica Bilant, Matthew and Preston Forrest, Amanda Williams, Justin Baum, Nathan, Mason, and Emily Holt; great-grandchildren, Noah and Aubry Forrest, Madison and Jayden Williams; brothers and sisters-in-law, LaWayne and Mary Holt of Mt. George, Tommy and Linda Holt of Ardmore, OK, Lloyd, and Natasha Holt of Memphis; sister and brother-in-law, Birtha Mae and Harold Francis of Memphis; sister, Judy Westmoreland of Mt. Mary Sue Rogers Holt, age 73, of Mt. George, AR died, Monday, December 7, 2009 at her home. She was born October 6, 1936 at El Paso, TX to the late Fred and Nellie Smith Rogers. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Centerville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Nathon Holt, Jr.; sisters, Jo Harvey and Anita Rogers and a brother Roger Dale Rogers.

Survivors include three sons & daughters-in-law, Harry Hogan, Jr. of Monticello, IN, Roger and Ann Hogan of Lebanon, IN and David and Debbie Holt of Mt. Mrs. Clara Gillum Holtzclaw, aged 75, of Little Rock, wife of Aubrey Holtzclaw, died Sunday. (1986) She was a Baptist.

Gary Wayne Honaker, age 53 of Russellville, died Sunday, July 12, 2009 at his home. He was born December 13, 1955 at Bakersfield, CA to the late Tommy and Jeannet Jenkins Honaker.

Honeycutt, Harlen E.

Harlen E. Honeycutt, of Stigler, OK, died Saturday, August 14, 2010 at his home. He was born December 31, 1957 at Fort Smith, AR to Herman and Margaret (Price) Honeycutt. He grew up in Yell County, AR. He received his education at Fourche Valley, Dardanelle, and Plainview-Rover Schools. His heart always stayed in Dardanelle where he lived the longest. He made his home in Houston, TX where he spent most of his working career. He made his home in Stigler in 1995. He was a wonderful gardener and took great pride in helping the elderly keep up their flower beds. He had a huge knowledge of types of flowers. He loved to fish and go boating with friends and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman Honeycutt and Margaret Price-Highfill-Pearce.

He is survived by his stepfather, Wayne Pearce of Stigler; three sisters, Retha and Louie Brown of Stigler, Gena and Larry Goff of Stigler, Anna and Davy Mullins of Plainview, AR; two brothers, Michael and Gail Honeycutt of Santa Fe, TX, Jeffery and Brenda Highfill of Plainview, AR; as well as a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Memorial services were held Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at the Shearwood Memorial Chapel with Reverend Stacy Lisenbey officiating.

Honeycutt, Ida Marie

Ida Marie Honeycutt was born in Plainview, AR. on February 3, 1940 to P.K. and Julia George Smith. She was "Born Again" on April 5, 1953, and went home to be with her Lord on May 4, 2009. On June 15, 1963, she married James Honeycutt. She worked at numerous factories but retired from the Arkansas Arts Center, after seventeen years, as a security guard. She also wrote poetry and painted. Marie taught the Gleaners Sunday School Class, delivered "Meals on Wheels", volunteered for Arkansas Hospice and the Plainview Community Library.

Survivors include her husband Jim; daughters, Karen & Bill Gilmore of Poplarville, MS. Kathy Ivy of Jacksonville, and Kristy & Jason Kordsmeier of Beebe; 14 grandchildren, many cousins & friends.

Honeycutt, James T. "Jim"

James T. "Jim" Honeycutt, age 67 of Casa, died Wednesday, May 7, 2003 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born July 28, 1935 in Casa to the late Jack and Otha Tanner Honeycutt. He was a retired duty equipment operator, a member of the First Baptist Church in Casa and a Mason and a member of the Casa Masonic Lodge 537.

He was preceded in death by a son, James Ronald Honeycutt.

Survivors are his wife of 47 years, Nona Marcum Honeycutt; two daughters and son-in-law, Pat Hubbard of Russellville, Davetta and Darrell Robinson of Casa; a sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Russell Robinson of Casa; six grandchildren, Toni Johnston, Curtis and Andrea Hubbard, Cole, Jacob and Garrett Robinson; two great grandchildren, Courtney and Mackenzie Johnston.

Nona Sue Marcum Honeycutt, age 64 of Casa died Monday, February 2, 2004 at her daughter's house in Russellville. She was born November 2, 1939 in Casa to Mary Hayes Marcum and the late Eric Marcum. She was retired from Petit Jean State Park and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Ola.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James Honeycutt and one son, Ronald Honeycutt.

Honson, Richard A.

Richard A. Honson, age 84, a resident of Russellville, AR, formerly of Mediapolis, Iowa, died Tuesday, January 4, 2000 at St. Mary's Medical Center at Russellville, AR. He was born on July 1, 1915 at Mediapolis, IA to Albion and Flossie Callaway Honson. He married Frances Lohmann Honson on February 18, 1938 at Burlington, IA. He retired as an owner and operator of the Senor Bob's Taco Hut in Russellville. He was a member of the Gideons Int. and worked in the Pope Co. Detention Center with the Russellville Chapter of the Gideons and was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Russellville.

He was preceded in death by, his parents, one daughter, Janice Mendenhall, son-in-law, Larry Ward.

Eurcie Hood, age 92, of Danville, AR passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2010. She was born January 18, 1918 in Waveland, AR to the late Joseph W. and Ida Mae Baker Shott. She was a Head Pastry Cook for Pulaski Heights School and worked for Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Belleville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Newton Hood; parents; brothers, Norman and Billy Joe Shott and sisters: Jewell Berney and Wanda Hardman.

Survivors include daughters and a son-in-law, Eula Nichols of Little Rock and Ida and Travis Garner of Danville; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Jewell Dean Shott of Waveland, AR; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Lillian Juanita Hood, age 80 of Havana, AR died Sunday, September 24, 2000 at her home in Havana, AR. She was born January 4, 1920 in Logan, County, Arkansas to the late Robert and Ciller Nolen Garner. She was a mother and homemaker and taught painting and ceramics.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Arless Hood; two sons and daughters-in-law, Arless Don and Phyllis Hood and Joe Dean and JoAnn Hood all of Havana; a daughter and son-in-law, Emma and Roger Turley of Havana; two sisters, Rosalie Townsend and Ophelia Howard both of Booneville, AR; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Hood, Mattie Rogers

Mrs. Mattie Rogers Hood, 75, died at the home of her son, Jimmie Rogers, at Batesville on January 31, 1949. She was married to A. B. Rogers in 1892. To this union nine children were born, two of whom survive, Isaac Roger, Blue Mountain, and Jimmie Rogers, Batesville.

Mrs. Pearl Parker Hood, age 84, of Centerville, Arkansas died Wednesday night, November 12, 1980 at the Yell County Nursing Home in Ola. Mrs. Hood was a native of Havana, Arkansas, born September 8, 1896, the daughter of the late Jim Parker and Alice Sexton Parker. She was a housewife and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Orman Hood of Centerville; one daughter, Mrs. Faye Littleton of Mt. George; three half-sisters, Mrs. Ortha Hood of Portersville, California, Mrs. Jimmie Harger of Merced, California and Mrs. Dorthy Taylor of Fairfax, Oklahoma; two grandchildren and one great grandchild and a number of nephews and nieces.

Hood, Phyllis Diane Wall

Phyllis Diane Wall Hood, of Roland, age 55, died Sunday, June 20, 2010. Phyllis was born in Memphis, Tennessee, moving to Forrest City, Arkansas where she graduated from high school. She attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and later graduated from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro with a degree in math. She was a computer programmer working with the University of Arkansas Medical Science Center, Pulaski County Special School District, St. Vincent Infirmary and Blue Cross Blue Shield. She was married September 9, 1980 to Jerry Hood. She and Jerry were very active with the Little Rock Compassion Center and Church.

Phyllis is survived by her husband of 20 years, Jerry Hood of Roland, and her mother Juanita Wall of Roland.

Rachel Hood, age 95, of Ola, AR died Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Mitchell Nursing Home. She was born November 5, 1914 In Waveland AR to the late John A. Scott and Gussie Anna Pike Scott. She was a 1933 graduate of Havana High School. She was a resident of Ola for 60 years and a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught the Lydia Sunday School Class.

Preceded in death by her parents; six siblings and husband Donald E. Hood.

Survivors include, daughter Leda Sims of Richardson, TX; brother John A. Scoff, Jr. of Sumner, IA; grandchildren, Michael Sims of Ola, Mark Sims of Irving, TX and several nieces and nephews.

Troy Newton Hood, age 77, of Danville, AR. died Tuesday, February 9, 1999 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born August 8, 1927 in Waveland, AR. to die late William Henry and Connie Chappell Hood. He was a retired employee with Arkansas Louisiana Gas Company and a Mason.

Dessie Elizabeth Orrell Hooker, age 69 of Ola died Saturday, November 16, 2002 at her home in Ola. She was born January 16, 1933 in Missouri to the late Earl and Sara Myrtle Williams Hunt. She was a homemaker and mother.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Hunt.

Hoover, William Ernest "Ernie"

William Ernest "Ernie" Hoover, age 64, of Booneville, AR, went to Heaven on December 12, 2009. He fought a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born on December 17, 1944 in Elizabeth Town, Illinois. He graduated from high school in Havana, AR in 1962. He owned his own foreign car repair shop for 37 years in Dallas, TX. He worked at Meadowbrook Golf Course. He also worked as a bail bonds man for First Arkansas Bail bonding.

He is survived by the love of his life Linda Whitecotton of the home; his son Timmy Hoover of Booneville; grandchildren T. J. Hoover of the home and Kimber Hoover of Red Oak TX; sister Gean and husband Ray Harris of Fayetteville, AR; nephews Ernie and wife Tish James of Havana and Ricky and wife Mona James of Danville and Ron and wife Rochell Gray of Little Rock; nieces Barbara Henderson of Bellville, AR and Norma and husband Kindrel of Prairie Grove, AR; special loved friends Kim Beggs and Mendy Greb and lots of special loved ones.

Dr. W. Clyde Hopkins, age 84 of Dardanelle, died Thursday, November 29, 2007, in Russellville. He was a retired accounting instructor and CPA at the University of Tennessee in Nashville and University of Memphis, and retired from the Navy.

Hopkins, Wanda Mae

Wanda Mae Hopkins, age 74, of Pottsville, died Wednesday December 12, 2001 at Stella Manor Nursing Center in Russellville. She was the daughter of the late James Thomas and Lela Mobley Benefield. She was born August 3, 1927, at Old County Line in Logan County.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack Hopkins; and brother, Farrel Benefield. She was a member of the Greenwood Assembly of God, in Greenwood.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jackie Dale and Deborah Hopkins of Van Buren, AR; a daughter and son-in-law Barbara G. and Larry Johnson, of Pottsville; and 5 grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday, December 15, 2001 at 10:00 a. m. at the Shinn Chapel with Rev. John Miller, and Rev. Marion Fleming officiating. Burial was at Blue Mountain Cemetery under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville. Pallbearers were A. D. Hopper, Jill Alexandra

Jill Alexandra Hopper, 28, of Avon, CT died suddenly of a pulmonary embolism on Wednesday, March 17, 1999 in Washington, DC. She was born in Hartford, CT on November 17, 1970, to Monte J. and Cynthia Richmond) Hopper and lived most of her life in Avon.

Jill was a 1988 graduate of Avon High School where she was salutatorian. She was a charter member of Kids for Kids and was a member of the West Avon Congregational Church. She graduated cum laude from Dartmouth College, Hanover, NH in 1992 where she completed an honors thesis in die Government Dept. She also was a member of the Class Council, the Government Steering Committee and served as an undergraduate advisor. In 1992-1993 she had a fellowship from the Bundestag Internship Program in Bonn, Germany. She was awarded a Teaching Assistantship Fulbright in Chemnitz, Germany in 1993-1994. She was a University Fellow at the Center for German and European Studies at Georgetown University, Washington, DC and received her Master of Arts Degree with honors in 1997. She passed the Ph. D. Comprehensive Examination with distinction. She spent 1997-1998 in Berlin, Germany having won the prestigious German Federal chancellor s Fellowship to complete research for her Ph. D. dissertation on me transition of East German political parties to a united Germany. At the time of her death she was writing her dissertation in residence at Georgetown where she was teaching as a pre-doctoral instructor in die Department of Government. Her dissertation advisor and Director of the Center for German and European Studies at Georgetown, Dr. Samuel H. Barnes, says she had made a brilliant start on her academic career as an expert on German and European politics. She held the highest honors on her examinations and earned the most prestigious fellowships both at Georgetown and from the German government for her work.

Besides her parents she leaves a brother, Derek Richmond Hopper of West Norriton, PA; her paternal grandmother, Georgia Hopper Parker of Wildwood, Russellville, AR; and her uncles and aunts William L. and Betty Whitten Hopper of Plainview; George W. and Louise Yates Hopper of Plainview, AR; her cousins Leisa Hopper Gramlich of Ft. Smith, AR. and Maj. Steven L. Hopper of Cabot, AR. She also leaves behind many kind and caring friends around the world. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Guilford H. Richmond and Ruth Richason Richmond of Norhampton, MA and her paternal grandfather, Winfred Hopper of Plainview, AR.
