Hogue, Delia

Delia Hogue; age 94 of North Little Rock, died Thursday, February 2, 2006 at Baptist Memorial Medical Center in North Little Rock. She was a homemaker, mother, and was a retired Salesperson for Dillards. She was born in Yell County on January 1, 1912 daughter of the late Thomas and Exie Reed Dart.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Hogue; infant sister, Mary Ruth Dart; sister, Ela Lipe; brothers, Melvin Dart, James Dart, Sam Dart, Carl Reed Dart; grandson, Chucky Hoge; son-in-law, Arthur "Buddy" Lawrence.

Survivors include a daughter, Emma Sue Lawrence of North Little Rock, AR; son and daughter-in-law, Charles Dewey and Lena Hogue of Belleville, AR; brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Emalene Dart of Belleville; 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and lifelong friends.

Hogue, Marilyn Scroggins

Marilyn Scroggins Hogue, 55, of Malvern, departed this mortal life and entered the gates of heaven on Friday morning November 14, 2003. Born May 30, 1948, in England, AR., she is the daughter of Doris M. Wright Scroggins and the late James M. Scroggins of Plainview, AR. A long time resident of the Glen Rose community of Hot Spring County and a valued member of the Glen Rose High School faculty, she was a devoted Christian and a current member of the Glen Rose Assembly of God Church. Her life was an exceptional example of integrity, loyalty, true love and devotion to God, her family, church, many friends and the community. For many years, she was very active and faithful in working with the children's ministries of the churches she attended.

She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 35 years, John T. Hogue Sr. of Glen Rose; her son, John T. Hogue, Jr. daughter-in-law Caroline Gossett Hogue and one granddaughter, Chloe of Plainview; her daughter Allison Lea Hogue-Brown, son-in-law Jeff Brown and two grandsons, Dalton and Garrett of Benton; her brother, Raymond Scroggins of Little Rock; her sister, Dorthea Andrews of Plainview and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends A celebration of Mrs. Hogue's exemplary life was held Monday, November 17, at Ashby's Chapel in Benton with Rev. Dan Flora officiating. Interment was in Fairplay Cemetery in Glen Rose. Pallbearers were Michael Millwood, James Scroggins, John Scroggins, Jason Taylor, Travis Wooten and Jim Hogue. Honorary pallbearers were Mrs. Hogue s friends and associates from the Glen Rose School Faculty. Hogue, William Franklin

William Franklin Hogue, age 76, of Gravelly, AR died Thursday, December 7, 2000 at his home in Gravelly, AR. He was born October 16, 1924 in Barber, Scott County, AR to the late Joel and Ana Johnson Hogue. He was a retired farmer, a WWII Army Air Corp. Veteran, a 32 Degree Mason and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Dardanelle, AR.

He is survived by, his wife, Beda Rhoades Hogue; one son, Billy Hogue of Springfield, AR; one sister, Allena Rhoades of California; two grandchildren, Tina Marie Hogue and William Joel Hogue.

Services were December 11, 2000 at the Cornwell Chapel in Danville, AR with Rev. John James and Rev. Ernie Bryan officiating. Hokhold, Jean

Mrs. Jean Hokhold, age 70, of Dardanelle, AR died Sunday, March 30, 1997 at AMI St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. She was born December 3, 1926, in Freemont, OH to the late Lester and Florence Smith Fought. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the Lutheran Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, Eric Henry.

Survivors include husband, Juluis Hokhold; daughter, Michelle Henry, of Green Forest, AR; two sisters, Eillen Bauer of Freemont, OH and Mary Ann Heck of Lindsey, OH; three step-sons, Michael Hokhold of Hector, AR, Edward Hokhold of Little Rock, AR and Joseph Hokhold of Corona, CA; a step-daughter, Charlotte Powell of Searcy, AR; three grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Holbrook, Hattie P. George

Hattie P. George Holbrook, 87, of Ola, AR, died Saturday, May 17, 2003 at St. Vincent's Medical in Little Rock. The daughter of A. K. and Nancy Elizabeth Sullivan George, she was born April 11, 1916 in Yell County. She was the widow of the late Rufus B. Holbrook and was also preceded in death by her parents and 3 brothers, Frank George, Hay den George and Rufus George, and a sister, Lyda Rodgers. She was a long time member of the Ola United Methodist Church.

Survivors include 2 sons daughters-in-law, Bennie Ave Holbrook of Sterling, VA, Glenn & Toni Holbrook of Derby, KS; a brother, Marlin George of Birta, AR; 3 sisters, Mary Ann Rodgers of Danville, AR, Verdell Ellison of Birta, AR; Modean Kirnzey of Ola, AR; 3 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren

Holiman, Cecil "Hogan"

Cecil "Hogan" Holiman, 88, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2006. He was born August 5, 1917, in Bluffton, AR to Cecil and Ethel (Lazenby) Holiman. He was a farmer in the Leonard area, until 1945, when he went to work at the Stephenson Browne Lumber Co. in Bixby, Oklahoma. During his 44 years at the lumber company, he worked for five different owners and retired in 1989. He joined the Bixby First United Methodist Church and faithfully served the church for over 50 years, as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Church Treasurer and Usher.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, Cleat and J. M. Holiman and two sisters, Irmine Holiman and Erma Lee.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ova (Brown) Holiman, whom he married on May 8, 1938; as well as two daughters, Beverly Holiman of Bixby and Myrna Campbell of Tulsa; two grandsons; Dr. David Campbell of Athens, GA and Brent Campbell of New York City; two sisters, Irene Ferguson of Bixby and Mary Stewart of Hannibal, MO; two brothers, Homer B. Holiman of Chattanooga, TN and Ralph Holiman of Kansas City, MO and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Vista Care Hospice and the Bixby Fire Dept. for the gentle care and concern for Hogan in his final days.

Service was held Monday, May 1, 2006 at the Bixby First United Methodist Church. Internment followed in the Bixby Cemetery under the direction of Leonard Marker Funeral Home of Bixby. Cecil B. Holiman, age 81, a re-tired farmer of Ola, died at his home Wednesday, Jan. 10, 1968. He was a member of the Ola Methodist Church and the Bluffton Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ethel Holiman; four sons, Cleat Holiman of Dumas, Hogan Holiman of Bixby, Okla., Homer B. Holiman of Los Banos, Calif., and Capt. Ralph Holiman of the U. S. Marines, Kansas City, Mo.; three daughters, Mrs. George Ferguson of Leonard, Okla., Mrs. Henry Lee of Normangee, Texas; and Mrs. Herbert Stewart of Hannibal, Mo.; three brothers, Herbert Holiman of Benton, Emmett Holiday of Berkeley, Calif., and Homer Holiday of Texarkana; three sisters, Mrs. Everett Mathews of Little Rock, Mrs. Arthur Messersmith of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Mrs. Elton Cook of Little Rock, and 14 grandchildren.

GOULD Cheetle (Cleat) Holiman, aged 75, of Gould, a retired farmer, died Tuesday. (12-22-87) He was a 32d degree Mason and a Methodist.

Survivors are his wife, Winne Fern Wallace Holiman; a son, Tim Holiman of Little Rock; three brothers, Ralph Lynn Holiman of Kansas City, Homer Bruce Holiman of Florida and Hogan Holiman of Bixby, Okla. three sisters, Mary Ellen Stewart of Hannibal, Mo. Erma L. Lee of Houston, Tex. and Irene Ferguson of Leonard, Okla. and a grandchild.

Herbert C. Holiman, age 90, of Texarkana, TX, formerly of Benton, AR died Friday, March 6, 1987. He was a retired pharmacist and co-owner of Smith Caldwell Pharmacy. He was a native of Yell County and a veteran of World War I and a Methodist.

Homer Earl Holiman, age 88, of Ola, AR died Wednesday, July 28, 1993 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. He was a retired employee of Brown & Root Construction Company of Houston, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Emily Holiman and his wife, Ruby Myers Holiman. He was a member of the Ola United Methodist Church and had been active in the Ola Chamber of Commerce. Survivors are one son, John M. Holiman of Pasadena, TX; two granddaughters, Nicole Holiman of Pasadena, TX and Laura Irish of Richmond, VA; great grandson, Jon Michael Irish of Richmond, VA; sister, Eunice Matthews of Little Rock, AR and a number of nieces and nephews.

Holiman, John M.

John M. Holiman, age 71, of Huffman, TX passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2010. He was born on August 23, 1938 in Ola, AR to the late Mr. and Mrs. Homer Holiman. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army and was a Construction Manager in the Petrol Chemical Industry and retired from Brown & Root of Houston after more than 25 years with the company. He truly enjoyed his work and the satisfaction it brought him. John was an avid sports fan and loved horses; riding, breaking, feeding, or spoiling his horses was his true passion. At his core, John was a family man; a wonderful father to two girls and a grandfather that cherished his three grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer E. and Ruby L. (Myers) Holiman, and one aunt, Pearl Myers.

He is survived by his daughters Laura Holiman of Huffman and Nicole Sonnier and her husband Woody of Huffman; three grandchildren, Jonathan Irish, Keely Brack, and Brandon Irish; as well as numerous friends, colleagues, and co-workers.

Holiman, Mary Emily

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Emily Holiman, aged 84 years, who died Monday at her home in Ola, were conducted Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist Church of Ola. Mrs. Holiman was a member of the Methodist Church and a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Ola, Chapter No. 386.

She is survived by five sons, Cecil and Homer, of Ola; Edgar, of, Berkeley, Calif., Herbert, of Lonoke; Emmett, of Oakland, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Everett Matthews, of North Little Rock; Mrs. Arthur Mersersmith, of Wichita Falls, Tex.; and Mrs. Elton Cook, of Ola; one sister, Mrs. Martha Briggs of Helena; and one brother, John Lofland, of Abilene, Tex.; twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mrs. Holiman was a niece of Miss Jane Gault, of Dardanelle.

Patsy Ruth Holiman, 71, of Russellville, died Friday, February 18, 2005 at Legacy Lodge Nursing Home in Russellville. She was the daughter of Arthur and Carrie Daisy Dennis Holiman. She was born December 2, 1933 in Ola. She was a 1951 graduate of Ola High School and attended Draughn's Business School in Little Rock. She worked for over 20 years as a sales clerk at the Russellville Sear's Store and she was a Baptist.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by three brothers, Charles W. Holiman, Russellville, Dennis Carroll Holiman, Castro Valley, California, Ott Holliman, Russellville; a sister, Frances Kay Holliman Smith, Killeen, Texas and a number of nieces and nephews.

Holland, Chester Lee

Mr. Chester Lee Holland of Mena, AR passed away Tuesday, May 4, 1999 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born January 18, 1947 in Danville, Arkansas. He was 52 years old. Mr. Holland was the son of the late Nathaniel Holland and Virginia Rhoades Holland. He was united in marriage to Sharon Wells on March 18, 1994 in Cherry Hill, Arkansas. Mr. Holland served in the Navy and was nicknamed "Smokey" for boxing. He lived in Mena for the last ten years; he was the owner and operator of a truck leased to Double C Transportation of Mena and was a truck driver for 25 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, enjoyed bowling at the Pine Bowl, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Survivors are: his wife, Sharon Holland of Mena, his mother, Virginia Holland. Six brothers and sisters; Darrel Holland, Paul Holland, Michael Holland, Margie Staley, LaJuana Crawford, Ronald Holland. Two children, Shane Holland and Rachel Brown. Two step children; Martha and Michael Phillips. Grandchildren; Emily, Alyssa, and Taylor Brown. Shaely Holland and Ashton Currey. Eight nieces, six nephews and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Holland, Jerry Don

Jerry Don Holland, lovingly known as "John" or "J. D. " went to be with his Lord on December 6, 2009 at UAMS in Little Rock, AR after a four month courageous battle with injuries received in an ATV accident. He was born August 31, 1953 at Danville, AR to Junior Harris and Thelma Bradford Holland. He graduated from Plainview High School and attended Arkansas Tech. Jerry Don loved people and was always willing to help them. He had a special gift of writing poems and stories about life. He loved fishing, gardening and riding his 4 wheeler but mostly he loved and cherished his mother. He joins his father, Junior Holland and grandmother, Dollie Hardin in heaven.

Lena Roberta Holland, 81, of Dardanelle died Friday, November 25, 2005. She was born August 29, 1924, in Fort Smith. She was a mother, homemaker, a charter member of Bay Ridge Country Club, a member of the Ladies Golf League and Sportsworld's Ladies Bowling League.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Etta Kerns Tankersley; husband, Robert Holland; brothers, Everett Ellis, Jr. and George Tankersley and sisters, Margeurite Turner, Eileen Sisco and Mary Morton.

Survivors are her son and daughter-in-law, Roberta and Larry Gilbert of Russellville five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Holland, Louis E.

Louis E. Holland, age 56, died Monday morning at his home in Dardanelle. He suffered a stroke several months ago, but had apparently recovered, when stricken again Monday. He was a native of Yell County, a member of the Methodist Church, Rotary Club, 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. He was owner of the Fred C. Burnett Insurance Company.

He is survived by his wife, and two sons, bobby and Hurbert, both of Dardanelle; a daughter, Mrs. Dale Stalard of Fayetteville; a granddaughter; three brothers, S. D. of Dardanelle; Emery of Little Rock and Millard of Delaware.

Michael "Mickey" Holland, 55, of Norman, Oklahoma, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Norman. Mickey was born April 1, 1953, in Danville, Arkansas, to Worth and Virginia Holland. He graduated from Star Spencer High School in 1971, and attended Oklahoma Broadcasting School. He married Mary Ann Torrez on March 20, 1982 in Irving, Texas. Mickey loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, cooking and boating.

Holland, Thelma Jane

Thelma Jane Holland, age 84, of Plainview, AR went to be with her Lord, Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Chambers Memorial Hospital. Thelma was best known as Mama to her children, Mamaw to her grandchildren, Memaw to her great-grandchildren, and Ms. Thelma to her children of the Little Paws Preschool. She was born to the late W. A. and Dollie Hurt Bradford on November 24, 1925 in Conway County. She was retired due to health issues from the Experience Works Program at the Little Paws Preschool and the Plainview-Rover School where she worked for more than 20 years. Thelma enjoyed her job, raising her children, gardening, fishing, and watching her hummingbirds. Her greatest joy was a full house and feeding her children, grandchildren, and her friends. Her lifelong dedication was to her son, Jerry Don, and he to her, now together for an eternity in heaven.

She was preceded in death by an Uncle, Oscar "Pa" Burt; three sisters, Zelma, Audrey Lee, and Evelyn; her husband, Junior Holland; a son, Jerry Don Holland; a grandson, Benjamin Bly; and a great-grandson, Cody Steele.

She is survived by her children, Tommy Holland of Pontoon; Pat and Odie Bly of Birta; Eyelene Millard and Sherrial Gilbo both of Dardanelle; Murrial Smith and Bab Holland both of Ola; and Randy Holland of Bluffton; along with a blossom of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and many beloved friends. Tressie Faye Holland, age 48 of Rover, AR died Friday, January 28, 2000 at her home in Rover, AR. She was born in Danville, AR August 3, 1951. She was a registered nursing assistant. She was preceded in death by her father, Ott Rose.

Anna A. Hollenbeck, age 96, Dardanelle, AR died Wednesdays August 26, 1998 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born March 25, 1902 at Goldthwaite, TX to Robert W. and Fannie Casbeer Stark, a retired supervisor for Schawab Meat Packing Co. at Oklahoma City and a member of the Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by three husbands, George Knoy Sr. Joseph Smith and William Hollenbeck and a son, George Knoy Jr.

She is survived by three sons Charles P. Smith of San Diego, CA Calvin Joe Smith of Lydale, GA and Raymond Smith of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Bessie Banks of Fort Worth, TX and Betty Deneui of Dover; a brother, Albert Stark of San Diego; a sister, Fannie Daniels of Eufaula, OK; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Hollingsworth, Vina Ann Crosby

Mrs. Vina Ann Crosby Hollingsworth died June 22, 1938 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fair Nelson, Havana and was buried in the Havana cemetery, after services at the church by Rev. W. E. Huey, assisted by Rev. Mr. Ragsdale and Rev. C. J. Wade. Mrs. Hollingsworth is survived by three daughters and four sons. Grace Lenora Dickinson Holloway, age 92, formerly of Russellville, AR died Tuesday, August 7, 2001 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born January 20, 1909 in Hickory Ridge, AR, the daughter of Harwell and Lydia Yeargin Dickinson. She was a member of the First Christian Church of DeWitt.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin P. Holloway; two sons, Duane and Paul Holloway and a daughter, Maxine Teeter.

Survivors include, two sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Shirley Holloway of Pine Bluff, AR and Max and Sue Holloway of Muskogee, OK; two daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Jack Manatt of Dardanelle, AR and Dianne and Paul Schoenfelder of Sherwood, AR; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

Holmes, General Jason

General Jason Holmes, age 77, of Casa, AR died Thursday, March 15, 2001 at his home in Casa, AR. He was born September 13, 1923 in the Needmore community, Yell County, Arkansas to the late Daniel Graham and Elizabeth Gray Holmes. He was a retired City Services Gas Company employee and a farmer. He was a WWII and, Korean Army Veteran, serving under General Patton in the Third Army and receiving two Bronze Stars.

He was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Holmes and a daughter, Benita West.

Survivors are, his wife of 54 years, Sally Parks Holmes; two daughters and sons-in-law, Anita and Larry Litsey and Denita and Terry Fitch all of Casa and Bobby West of Hot Springs, AR; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Service was March 19, 2001 at Needmore Pavilion with Rev. Jackie Townsell officiating. Interment was in Needmore Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville, AR. Holstein, Jewell L.

Jewell L. Holstein, age 91, better known as Nana or Judy, of Russellville, died Tuesday, January 16, 2007, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born December 29, 1915, at Lindsey, OK to James and Kate Williams Paul. She was the widow of Otis Arthur Holstein, having been married for 42 years.

She is preceded in death by her son, Doyle Holstein and a grandson, Otis "Pete" Roy Holstein.

Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Bain of Belleville; grandchildren, Craig "Buddy" Holstein of Florida, Leo Holstein of Pottsville, Brian Holstein of Belleville, Tammy Langston of Russellville; fourteen great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by each passing day. In our hearts and souls for her we pray.

Funeral services were held Saturday, January 20, 2007, at New Life Outreach Church in Danville. Interment was in Havana Cemetery. Arrangements by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle.
