Davis, Samuel Ervin

DANVILLE - Samuel Ervin Davis, age 65, of Route 1, Ola, died Wednesday, May 8, 1985, at Yell County Hospital. He was a farmer and cattleman, a native of Glen Rose, Texas, and the son of the late John and Ada Burleson Davis. He was a veteran of World War II and a Mason.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Margaret Miller Davis; a son, Gerald Davis of Route 1, Ola; a daughter, Mrs. Brenda Hale of Russellville; two brothers, Joe and Vestal Davis of Texas; three sisters, Mrs. Emily Sikes, Mrs. Mildred Copeland and Mrs. Lillie Howard of Texas, and four grandchildren.

Davis, Sarah Ida Holliman

Mrs. Sarah Ida Holliman Davis was born February 3, 1872 in Johnson County, Alabama, and died April 20, 1958, at the age of 86 years. She moved with her parents to Arkansas when she was 11 years old. She was married to William N. Davis in the year of 1892. To this union, nine children were born.

Two preceded her in death, an infant and a son, Jonathan "Dick" Davis; also her husband, William N. Davis.

Survivors include four sons, George Davis, William Davis, Joe Davis and Hoyt Davis all of Waveland; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Tapp of Havana. Seth Benton Davis, aged 85, of Plainview, a retired farmer, died Sunday. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nettie Lefforge Davis; a son, Seth E. Davis of Washington; four daughters, Mrs. Alta McCoy of Oklahoma, Mrs. Vera Bedwell of California, Mrs. Lucy Crain of Rohwer and Mrs. Fretta Cunningham of Plainview; a brother, John W. Davis, Timothy 'Tim' Edward

Timothy 'Tim' Edward Davis, age 44, of Belleville, died Thursday, April 14, 2005 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born in Harrison, AR on December 27, 1960. He was a farm hand for Backbone Ranch and a welder.

He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill Sevire and grandparents, Ralph Grant Davis, Elmer McEntire and Velma McEntire.

Survivors include his father and stepmother, Billy D. and Betty Davis; mother, Jeanie Marie Sevire of TX; twin sons, Clint and Trent Davis of St. Joe; a brother, Donald Wayne Davis of St. Joe; a half-brother, Grant Eugene Davis, U.S. Army, Baghdad; two stepbrothers, Dale Jones and James Jones of Benton; grandmother, Dorothy Davis of St. Joe and fiance, Donna Woodford of Belleville. Davis, Valeria Eunice

Valeria Eunice Davis, age 91 of Dardanelle, died Monday, October 13, 2003 at the Dardanelle Nursing Home. She was born December 10, 1911 in Haggarville, Pope County, Arkansas to the late Finis Lee and Agnes Rosa Lund Freeman. She was a homemaker, mother and retired after ten years as a cook for the Dardanelle Middle School. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth Freeman, Conrad Freeman, Bill Freeman; three sisters, Johnie Hobbs, Cleo Puckett, Marie Freeman and a son-in-law, Toby Hodges.

Survivors are one daughter, Lucille Davis Hodges; two granddaughters and husband, Laura Keeling and Lisa and Mastin Ford, all of Dardanelle; three grandchildren, Jaclyn Keeling, Erin Ford and Eric Ford, all of Dardanelle and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 15, 2003, Haggarville Cemetery with Rev. David Bishop officiating. Willard Daniel Davis, age 57, of Heavener, OK died Friday, April 23, 1999 at the Eastern Oklahoma Medical Center in Poteau, OK. He was born in Pensacola, FL July 24, 1941 son of the late Fletcher and Ruth Davis. He was a retired butcher.

He was born April 6, 1926, at Hollis, to the late Thomas Lee and Martha Bell Blythe Davis. He retired from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission in 1982, where he had worked for 17 years as a game warden; was a member of the Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church; and enjoyed fishing and the horse races. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, George and Bill Davis; and a sister, Lola Lehman.

Davis, Willie Ray

Shawnee, Okla. resident Willie Ray Davis, 72 passed from this life on May 22, 2011. He was born to Joe and Elva Davis on September 8, 1938 in Merced, Calif, and grew up west of Waveland. He married La Von Ledford on August 31, 1963. He graudated from Havana and then an Electronic School in Dallas. He was owner of Davis Heat and Air in Shawnee. He is preceeded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Inez Ledford, a brother Orval Joe Davis, sister-in-law Laquita Legarde and a niece Vickie Dian Coker.

He is survived by his wife, LaVon, daughter, Tammy and Kenny Blackwood, son, Jamie and Kimbley Davis; four grandchildren, Kenna and Kameron Blackwood, Dakota and Harley Davis-York; father-in-law, Herbert Ledford, a sister-in-law, Dianna Ledford and a number of family and friends.

Davison, J. D.

J.D. Davison of Delano, CA was born in Casa, AR on June 15, 1928, and entered into eternity peacefully, surrounded by his family May 15, 2012.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Effie and Joe Davison, three brothers and six sisters. He worked as a farm laborer until he retired and was very proud of his work and the people he worked with. His true love was his wife and children. He was very proud of his family and loved them dearly. He loved animals and was known to take in many stray dogs and cats. He loved puttering around the house and building bird houses.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Lou, son and daughter- in-law, Tommy Joe and Kathy Davison, daughter, Mary Lou Ewing, daughter, Connie Croley, daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and David Miller, daughter, Jean McCoy, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Justin Hester, Lacey McClain and Caleb McCoy for the help and support in his final days. Special thanks also to Odyssey Hospice.

Ladd Sr. and Laura Frances Eubanks. She was a homemaker and a member of the Plainview Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was involved in School activities and the life of her family.

She is preceded in death by; her parents, her husband, John W. Dawson, five sisters and two brothers.

Dawson, John W.

John W. Dawson, age 82 of Plainview, Arkansas died Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born January 6, 1921 in Plainview, Arkansas to the late Oscar and Lillie Dale Dawson. He graduated from Plainview High School and was the secretary for the state FFA his senior year. He retired after 19 years as the maintenance supervisor for the Plainview School District and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Plainview.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Basil Dawson and Cleo Dawson and two sisters, Ruby Nell Woodruff and Viva Dale Cobb.

Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Pauline Ladd Dawson; daughter, Helen Westlake of Plainview; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Peggy Dawson of Dardanelle, Mark and Tori Dawson of Little Rock; a brother, Kenneth Dawson of Vancouver, Washington; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Services were Thursday, June 12, 2003 at Cornwell Chapel, Danville with Pastor Richard Hall and Joe Harrison officiating. Interment was in Carter Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville. Joseph Paynter Dawson, 81, of Ola died Friday, March 3, 2006, at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. Born September 12, 1924, in Bloomfield, Kentucky, he was the son of the late John J. and Eva Paynter Dawson. He was a Deacon and a member of the Ola First Baptist Church. He was an Air Force jet pilot instructor. He was active in Gideons, a Lay Minister, a member of the California Handicapped Flyers Association and a member of the Challenge Air Team, on the board of Yell Country Farm Bureau, as well as the Arkansas State Board of Farm Bureau, and on the board of the Arkansas State Water Board.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Carol Ivy Dawson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jennette and Larry Robbins of Farmington, Sarah and David McCarver of Arlington, TX; brother, John B. Dawson of Juneau, AK; sister, Mary Spencer of Mexico, MO; six grandchildren, Trey, Sarah, Stephanie Robbins and Chris and Lance McCarver, Ann McCarver.

Funeral was Monday, March 6, 2006 at Ola First Baptist with the Reverend Rick Balentine, Reverend Donald Walker, and Reverend Ethan Robinson officiating. Dean, Chester T.

Services for Chester T. Dean, 77, of Lubbock will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Pat Driskill officiating.

Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home. He died Friday, November 10, 2000, at his residence. He was born October 14, 1923, in Oklahoma and was raised in the Olton and Plainview area. He was an absentee graduate of Dardanelle, Ark., High School due to entering the U.S. Army in 1941. He served in the infantry and received the purple heart as well as other honors. He married Ruthie Parks on November 2, 1947, in Dardanelle. He served in civil service at Reese Air Force Base until his retirement. Following his retirement he owned and operated a lawn care service. He had been a resident of Lubbock since moving from Dardanelle in 1954 and was a member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church. A son, Clarence Edward Dean, died in 1962.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Charles of White Oak and Thomas of Lubbock; two daughters, Nita Ashmore of Midland and Tricia Roark of Lubbock; a brother, Jimmy; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials to Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
