Buford, Jessie

Miss Jessie Buford, age 94, of Danville, AR (formerly of Hot Springs, AR) died Wednesday, May 13, 1998 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville, AR. She was a daughter of the late Charlie T. and Mary Rebecca McBride Buford, she was born January 12, 1904 at Wing, AR. She was a member of the Grand Avenue Methodist Church in Hot Springs, AR. She taught grades 1 thru 12 for many different school systems in Arkansas for 47 years, until her retirement in 1969, as head librarian for the Sheridan School District. She was a member of the Arkansas Retired Teacher's Association for many years serving numerous positions on the state level.

She is survived by two brothers, Ted and Eulene Buford of Briggsville, AR and Dale Buford of Danville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was Saturday at the Briggsville Methodist Church with Rev. Royce Savage officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery at Briggsville, AR. Memorials may be made to the Briggsville Methodist Church or the Mt. Zion Cemetery Fund. Nephews served as pallbearers. Buford, Jimmie

Jimmie Buford, 84, of Danville, AR, formerly of Ola, died Friday, November 8, 2013 at St. Mary's Rehabilitation Center in Russellville. The son of Bill and Mima Jane Turner Buford, he was born October 6, 1929 in Wing, AR. He was a United States Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a retired Livestock Inspector with the State of Arkansas. He was a long standing member of Bear Creek Fishin' Club of South Carolina, the Arkansas River Valley Gun Club, American Legion Post #0222 of Ola and retired from Ola Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the Danville Freewill Baptist Church. Jimmie was an avid reader. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, dancing and feeding his stray cats. His greatest joy was time spent with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers Bill Jr. Buford and John T. Buford. Left to cherish his memory is his companion Nell Clemons of Danville; children William F. Buford & wife Margaret of Okeechobee, Fl, Glenn T. Buford & Wanda of Ruffin, SC, Charles E. Buford & wife Sherry of Ola, Katharine J. Buford of Ola, Leda E. Cullum & husband Sam of Russellville, Diane J. Thomlinson & husband Neil of Plainview, Paulette Lane & husband Larry of Havana, LTC Patsy Morris of Ft. Campbell, TN, Steven Clemons & wife Sherrie of Jacksonville, AR; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers Robert M. Buford of Ola and Donnell R. Buford of Ola; two aunts, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service was held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at Danville Freewill Baptist Church. Reverend Dylan Russell will officiate. Buford, Jimmy Lee

Jimmy Lee Buford, age 59, of McGehee, AR, a farmer and a native of Yell County, died Tuesday, June 4 at McGehee-Desha County Hospital. He was born November 2, 1936 to Lee and Effie Hill Buford. He was a member of the board of directors of McGehee Bank and Lake Village Seed, chairman of the advisory committee of the Agricultural Youth Apprentice program and a deacon at First Baptist Church at McGehee. His family was Desha County Farm Family of the Year.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Johnson Buford; a son, Alan Buford of McGehee; three daughters, Lynda Ovaert of Dallas, Diane Rogers of Wichita, KS and Paula Gill of North Little Rock; a brother, Bill Buford of Sheridan and four grandchildren.

John Buford, age 44, of Ola, AR died Tuesday, July 5, 1994 at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center, Little Rock, AR. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and disabled.

He is survived by one son, Eric Buford of Texas; one brother, Fred Buford of Alma, AR and one grandchild, Jordan Buford.

Buford, Lessie Mae (Bailey)

Mrs. Lessie Mae Whitecotton Buford, age 83, of Little Rock formerly of Chickalah died Tuesday, December 28 at Williamsburg Retirement Center in Little Rock. She was born January 8, 1910 in Danville to the late Tom and Fannie M. Haines Bailey. She was a member of the Chickalah Methodist Church, member and past president of Yell County Home Demostration Club Chickalah Garden Club and a housewife and mother.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, David Whitecotton and Bob Buford.

Survivors are: a son, Robert Buford; three daughters. Ruby Jankowski, Pauline Myers and O'Reita Mann all of Little Rock; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were Thursday at Cornwell Chapel Dardanelle with Rev. Bennie Hannon officiating. Interment was in Brearley Cemetery Dardanelle by Cornwell Funeral Service. Mrs. Mary Rebecca Buford, age 101, of Hot Springs, formerly of Wing, died Sunday, February 1, 1976, at Hot Springs. She was the daughter of the late John R. and Josephine Kinser McBride, and was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Teddie R. Buford of Briggsville and Charlie Pale Buford of Gadsen, Calif.; a daughter, Miss Jessie Buford of Hot Springs; a brother, Newton McBride of Fort Smith; two sisters, Mrs. R. L. Mildred V. Buford, age 85, of Danville, AR died Wednesday, October 13, 1999. She was a daughter of the late Henry Dow and Maggie Elizabeth Embry Rana; she was born October 22, 1913, at Briggsville, AR. She was a retired psychiatric technician, having worked for the Camarillo (California) State Hospital for 20 years. She was a charter member of the Gravelly Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles Club in Russellville and a member of the Danville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by, a son and daughter-in-law, Robert G. and Loucinda Buford of Danville; a grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Robert Scott and Tammy Kay Buford of Russellville and a great-grandson, Robert Michael Buford and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was owner and operator of Mima's Motel at Ola since 1964, a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and a member of Ola Chamber of Commerce, Ola Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and Ola United Methodist Church.

Buford, Ted R.

Ted R. Buford, age 94, of Briggsville, AR, died Friday, February 17, 2007, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center, in Russellville. He was born May 1, 1912, at Briggsville, to the late Charlie Tolbert and Mary Rebecca McBride Buford. He worked in construction and was a logger. He was a member of the Briggsville Methodist Church, a United States Army Veteran of World War II, Patton's 3rd Armored Division, serving during the Battle of the Bulge and Siegfried Line Campaigns. He was a member of the Fourche Valley School Board and the Briggsville Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Danny F. and Allen R. Buford; three brothers, Bennie Edgar, Bill and Dale Buford; and three sisters, Dona, Johnnie and Jessie Buford.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Eulene Buford; a daughter and son-in-law, Monette and Tommy Hicks of Uniontown, AR; and a grandson and his wife, David and Deanna Lambert of Van Buren and a grandson Daniel Hicks of Ft. Smith.

The funeral was February 19, 2007, at the Briggsville Methodist Church with the Rev. Steve Lawrence officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Virgie Morris Buford, 77, of Ft. Smith, AR, formerly of Nimrod, AR, died Wednesday, May 11, 2005 in Ft. Smith, AR. She was born October 24, 1927 in Mt. Ida, AR to Everett and Ella Talent Ridpath. She married Herman Shorty Morris on December 6, 1956 and after his passing she married Robert M. Buford on January 1, 1977. She was owner of Virgie's Monogramming. She was a member of the Arkansas Bluegrass Association and a member of the Unity Baptist Church of Ft. Smith AR.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Herman "Shorty" Morris; one brother, Carl Ridpath.

Survivors include her husband, Robert M. Buford of Ft. Smith; one son, Michael Wayne Morris of Ft. Smith; four sisters, Juanita Dennison and Ruby Scott of Ft. Smith, Lois Bentley of North Little Rock, and Joyce Rye of Mansfield, AR; and seven nieces and nephews.

Boyd Buie, age 68, of Danville, AR died Wednesday, May 10, 2000 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. He was born February 17, 1932 in Yell County, AR to Opal and the late Bessie Hurst Buie. He was retired from Valmac Industries.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Buie.

Emma Jane Bull, age 99, of Belleville passed away Friday, October 2, 2015, at Mitchells Nursing Home in Danville. Emma Jane was born September 6, 1916, in Havana, AR to the late Grover Cleveland & Cordelia Victoria Fink Burrows. She was a homemaker and poultry grower. She was a member of the Wilson Freewill Baptist Church, Eastern Star and Spring Creek EH Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Bull; parents; brothers, Russell, Dewey, Noble Burrows; sisters Edith Pogue, Eoline Garner and Ella Mae Bell.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Leland Ray and Linda Bull; Harry Don and Linda Bull all of Gainesville, Georgia; daughters and son-in- law, Clyda Jane Hall of Ola; Wanda Faye Bull of Danville; Anna Dale and Bill Linton of Dover; grandchildren, Greg & Karen Bull; Debby & Justin Ferguson; Jeff Bull; Gary & Kelly Bull; Jennifer & Bill Schimek; Billy & Jamie Linton; Rusty & Amanda Linton; Jason & Misty Bull; Paula & John Shockley; 17 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Bull, Garland Eugene

Garland Eugene Bull, age 86, of Dardanelle died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born April 4, 1926 at Centerville to the late Roy F. and Ioma Mae Harlow Bull. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and Engineering Technologist for Dow Chemical for 20 years and was the founder and organizer of the Arkansas Inventors Congress where he had numerous patents.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Lou Ella Bull; four brothers, Herman Bull, Faye Bull, Clifford Bull, Jimmy Bull; one sister, Maggie Williams.

Survivors include, his daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Raymond McGuire of Dardanelle; sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Debra-Jean Bull of Lake Jackson, TX, Roy and Phyllis Bull of Dardanelle, Bill and Rhonda Bull of Dardanelle; two sisters, Rose White of Washington State, Ruth Hill of Perryville; numerous grand, great grand, great great grand children, family and friends.

Ginger Faye Bull, age 49, of Dardanelle, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at Greer's Ferry. She was born June 29, 1955 at Stuttgart to the late William Eugene Robinson and Zadie Joyce Davidson. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and the Lady's Golf Association of Dardanelle.

She is preceded in death by a brother, Ricky Robinson.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Bull of Dardanelle; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Brandon Crow of Centerville; brothers, Randy Robinson of Ola, Dale Robinson of Pine Bluff; sisters, Kathy Sales of Ola, Sandra Kenward of Pine Bluff; half-sister, Merlene Faucett of Cabot; uncle, Ryland and Ruby Robinson of Pine Bluff; grandson, Ashton Barborek of Centerville and granddaughter, Abby Crow of Centerville.

Bull, Lelon John

Plainview Physician for 13 Years Dr. Lelon Bull Dies Dr. Lelon John Bull, age 84, who retired in 1983 from a 13-year medical practice in Plainview, died last Wednesday, May 24, 1995 at his home in Yucaipa, California. His wife Lois was at his side at his death. Dr. Bull and Mrs. Bull, who was a nurse, had been in medical practice at the time of their retirement for 29 years. Before coming to Plainview he worked at Tempe, Arizona. Dr. Bull was born on July 27, 1910, in Aplin, Arkansas, the fifth of nine children of John Foster and Maggie Nola Bull. He graduated from Madison Academy, Tennessee, and received his Bachelor of Science degree from Vanderbilt University and his Medical Degree from the University of Arkansas in 1953.

He met Lois McCurry in 1928, and they were married in Perry, Arkansas, on December 19, 1934. The Bulls had four daughters, Betty J. Cooper, Peggy M. Browne, and Marie M. Larsen, all of California, and Carol Ann Driver of Arizona. Dr. Bull practiced Medicine in Tempe, Arizona, for 18 years, where he was on the Board of the Tempe Elementary School. Bull, Raymond

Raymond Bull, age 77 of Amarillo, died July 1, 2006. He was born in Belleville on September 22, 1928 to the late Alfred and Maudie Black Bull. He was retired from the State of Arkansas Payroll and Distribution Department. He was the lead singer of "The Believers" Gospel Group in Booneville, a member of Singing Men of Texas. He was a fifty year mason, became an ordained minister in 2002, a member of South Georgia Baptist Church in Amarillo, and active in the Prison Ministry in Arkansas as well as Amarillo.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Bull; children, Ramona Jean Thompson, Michael David Bull and wife Tammy of North Little Rock; step-daughters Debbie Gillespie, Sharon McLaughlin, and Betty Collins; sister, Ruby Dugger; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; and 10 step great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at South Georgia Baptist Church in Amarillo. Masonic graveside services were held on Friday, at Russell Cemetery in Belleville. WISTER - Delta Faye Bullard, 69, of Wister died Wednesday, November 5, 2014, in Little Rock. She was born January 2, 1945, in Prague, Okla. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bethel Baptist Church in Wister with interment at Hicks Chapel Cemetery in Fanshawe, Okla., under the direction of Evans and Miller Funeral Home in Pocola.

DARDANELLE - Jay Bullard, age 60, of Tulsa, Okla. a former resident of Dardanelle, died Monday, December 2, 1985. He was a retired engineer working for McDonald-Douglas Aircraft Corp. for 30 years and Rockwell International for two years.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Ann Bullard; two sons, Jeffrey J. Bullard of Tulsa and Gregory Scott Bullard of Norman, Okla.; a daughter, Janan Hill of Tulsa, and four sisters, Mrs. Edith Kee of Dardanelle, Mrs. Nina Stancikas of Russellville, Mrs. Oneida Robertson of Cicero, Ill. and Mrs. Frances Callahan of Centerville.

Anna Keeton Howell Bullock, age 95, of Dardanelle died Thursday, December 5, 2002 at a St. Edwards Hospital in Ft. Smith. She was born May 6, 1907 in Dardanelle, Arkansas; she was the daughter of the late William and Virginia Love Howell.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. Bullock, Sr. She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women, a lifetime member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and a member of the Colonial Dames.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Thomas L. Bullock, Jr. of Little Rock, and Judge William R. Bullock, Sr. and wife, Barbara of Dardanelle; a daughter, Mary Gale Barnes and husband, Dr. James Robert Barnes of Houston, Texas; two grandsons, William R. Bullock, Jr. and Tom Ed Bullock of Dardanelle; two granddaughters, Jessica Love Barnes of Houston and Bunny Bullock of Dardanelle; two great-granddaughters, Teddie Bullock and Jodie Bullock; and a great-grandson, Garrett Bullock.
