Billingsley, Shirley

Shirley Billingsley, age 42 of London died Monday, January 2, 2006 at her home. She was born July 23, 1963 at Harrison, AR to the late George William and Hazel Marie Ruff Billingsley. Her and all of her sisters were raised in the Southern Christian Home in Morrilton, AR.

Survivors include a son, Michael J. Fowler of the home; four sisters, Joyce Henson of Jacksonville, Dorothy Billingsley of Cotton Valley, LA, Jane Coffer of Russellville, Shiela Billingsley of Morrilton; niece, Elizabeth Houck of Cotton Valley, LA; great niece, Dawn Martin of Cotton Valley, LA.

Billingsley, Vera Mae

Vera Mae Billingsley, age 83, of Waldron died Wednesday at Yell County Nursing Center in Ola. Born February 6, 1919 in Commerce, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Harley Clinton & Annie Mae Payne Parvin. She was a homemaker, nurse, and a member of the First Baptist Church, Olton, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Billingsley; two sons, Clinton Rhea and Delbert Wayne Billingsley; a daughter, Brenda Kay Grosz; a sister and two brothers.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and C. B. Lunsford of Russellville, and Lameda and Don Lunsford of Waldron; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Joyce Billingsley of Plainview; 4 sisters and two brothers; 13 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral services were Saturday, July 27, 2002 at Cornwell Chapel in Danville with Rev. Jerrell Willingham officiating. Billingsley, Wilma W.

Wilma W. Billingsley, age 92, of Harrison, passed away Monday, October 6, 2014, in Harrison. She was born November 11, 1922, at Dumas, Arkansas, the daughter of William and Hattie (Smallwood) Billingsley. She was a member of Northside Church of Christ.

Wilma is survived by two nephews, William McDonald and Danny McDonald; a great-niece, Donna Hamilton; two great-great-nieces, Jade and Kyle Hamilton; and many dear friends.

Sam Billips, Danville, died Saturday night and was buried Tuesday in Danville colored cemetery. He leaves a wife and two sons. Mr. Billips was here during the Civil War and could not tell his exact age but was past 90. A. L. (Roy) Bird, age 74 of Plainview, a retired printer, died Saturday at Russellville. He was a former linotype operator for the Gazette and later owned a printing shop in Little Rock. He had operated Bird's Cabins at Plainview since moving there in 1947.

Mrs. Beatrice Christene Bird, age 61, of Paris, mother of Buddy Goocher of Dardanelle, died Saturday, November 2, 1985.

Bird, Bruce Warren

Bruce Warren Bird, 48, of Southside, AR died Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at White County Medical Center in Searcy, AR. He was born October 19, 1956 in Russellville, AR to Jacob W. and Wilma (Clack) Bird. He was a member of the Southside Church of Christ I and a member of Sons of the Confederate -Neill Camp 286. He was a graduate of Arkansas Tech in Russellville and had retired from ConAgra of Batesville where he worked as a breeder serviceman.

He is preceded in death by his father; one sister, Rachel Bird; grandparents, Elmer and Audis ClacK and James and Lucy Bird.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy (Everett) Bird of Southside; his mother, Wilma Bird of Havana, AR, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Jim Farrar of Jacksonville, Lynelle and Mike Eisenhart of Cabot, AR and four nephews.

Funeral service was held on Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Southside Church of Christ with Bob Harris officiating assisted by Sam Beasley. Graveside services were also held at Havana Cemetery in Havana, AR with John McCourt officiating. Mrs. Lucy Mae Bird was born near Atkins, Pope County, November 11, 1879 and departed this life December 21st, 1947, being 68 years of age. She was married to James B. Bird in January 1913.

She was preceded in death by her husband several years.

Olene Blagg Bird, of Danville formerly of Gravelly, passed away Monday, November 30, 2009. She was born August 24, 1911 in Gravelly, to the late Michael Lee and Ina Elizabeth Start Blagg. She was a member of the Gravelly Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bird; her brothers and their wives, Forrest and Emmie Blagg, Harley and Ina Blagg; her sister Bessie Blagg and her twin sister, Cathlean Blagg, as well as her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ted and Leora Bird, Irene and Farlow Burt, Charley Lee and Bill Heffelfinger, Oscar Lee Bird, Bud Lofland, Valera and Bill Marshall.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Billy Lee and Barbara Bird of Seward, NE; a sister-in-law, Nina Vetter of Wichita, KS; nieces, Ouida Moor, Wayna Fraser, Alice Fletcher, Edna Rigby, Pauletta Hinkle and Elizabeth Warren; nephews, Herbert Blagg, Sonny Lofland, Butch Bird, Billy Marshall and Teddy Walter Bird.

Virginia Bird, age 61, of Havana, AR died Sunday, May 23, 2004 at her home. She along with her husband, owned and operated BB's Quick Stop in Waveland. She was born in Garden City, KS on August 27, 1942. She was a member of the Magazine First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Foreman.

Birdwell, Bobbie Don

Bobbie Don Birdwell, 83, passed away Jan. 5, 2010, in Dallas, Texas. He was born on Aug. 15, 1927, in Josephine, Texas, to Clarence and Iris Birdwell. He was a dedicated, well-loved family man who greatly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Don served his country as a medic in World War II and was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as brothers, James M. Birdwell, Charles Ray Birdwell, Harold Joe Birdwell and Kenneth Wayne Birdwell.

Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nell Birdwell of Balch Springs; daughter and son-in-law, Donell and David Youngblood of Whitehouse, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Jeannie Birdwell of Carrollton, Texas; grandson and his wife, Russell and Tiffany Youngblood of Arlington, Texas; grandson, Robbie Birdwell of Duncanville, Texas; sister, Mary Latham of Amarillo, Texas; brothers, Lynn Birdwell of Greenville, Texas, Glynn Birdwell of Jefferson, Texas, and Stanley Birdwell of Greenville, Texas; and sister, Sandra Sue Hart of Carrollton, Texas.

Birdwell, Laura Iris

Funeral services for Laura Iris Birdwell, of Carrollton, will be 2 p.m. today at Peters Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Gregory officiating. Burial will be in Tidwell Cemetery.

She died Wednesday in Carrollton. Born May 1, 1904, in Fate, she was the daughter of George and Theodocia Beattie Williamson. On Aug. 5, 1925, she married Clarence Birdwell in Royse City. Mrs. Birdwell was a member of Tidwell Baptist Church.

Survivors include sons, Bobby Birdwell of Dallas, Glenn Birdwell of Garland, Charles Birdwell, Lynn Birdwell and Stanley Birdwell, all of Greenville; daughters, Mary Latham of Amarillo and Sandra Hart of Carrollton; brother, Mims Williamson of Rockwall; sisters, Georgia Fulton of Amarillo and Evelyn Bilhiemer of Little Rock, Ark.; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Florence Birge, age 86, of Dardanelle died Tuesday, May 14, 2002 at Dardanelle Hospital. She was born July 29, 1915, at Nogo. She was the daughter of the late John and Clara Summers Lynch, and widow of Cecil Birge.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Ray and Harold Birge.

Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Johnny and Geneva Birge of Russellville, and Joe and Vicki Birge, and Stanley Birge of Dardanelle; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Joyce Southwick and Larry Bost and Rita and Wayne Nordin of Russellville, and Beverly Lowe of Apple Valley, CA; 19 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.

Birkhead, Brent Alden

Brent Alden Birkhead, age 37, of Covington, GA, died Thursday, April 5, 2007 at Georgia. He was born October 21, 1969 in Memphis, TN. He was the son of Dean and Janis Birkhead of Dardanelle, AR. He enjoyed playing music, electronics, computers and was a tool and die maker.

He is survived by his wife, Tanya Lunsford Birkhead of Covington, GA; his parents, Dean and Janis Birkhead; a brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Connie Hunt of Senatobia, MS; two nephews Bailey and Bedford Hunt and a niece Anna-Blair Hunt.

Funeral service was April 7 at Wheeler Funeral Home in Covington, GA. Local funeral service was April 10, 2007 at the Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. Roger Glover officiating. Birkhead, Corlela Jones

Corlela Jones Birkhead, age 89 of Dardanelle, died Saturday, January 31, 2004 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. She was born September 16, 1914 in New Blaine, Arkansas to the late Arthur N. and Ella O. Sisk Jones. She and her late husband were one of the first founders of Meals on Wheels in Dardanelle, worked tirelessly for Sharing and Caring Food Pantry, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Dardanelle, the United Methodist Women, and a charter member of Dardanelle B & P W, and Garden Club. She was an avid canasta player, loved to read, do word puzzles, was keeper of the family history, and above all loved her family. She retired after 30 years from Continental Telephone. A special thanks to Jessie Gale Samson and Lynda Crafton for lovingly taking care of her in her time of need.

She was preceded in death by Lowell Birkhead, her husband of seventy years.

Survivors are a daughter, Mavis Welsh and husband Don of Maumelle; a son, L. Dean Birkhead and wife, Janis of Petit Jean Mountain; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Margie Conard of Appleton, Wisconsin, Aria Faye McElhaney of Great Bend, Kansas and her constant companion and loving pet, Joey.

Funeral services were Tuesday, February 3, 2004, at Cornwell Chapel Dardanelle with Rev. Floyd Ervin and Rev. Bennie Harmon officiating. She was born August 2, 1908 in Centerville, AR to the late Mac and Cora Bryson Cain. She was a retired sales clerk for Blass Department Stores and then for Dillards. She was a member of the Methodist Church.

Survivors are, two brothers, Joe Cain of Cabot, AR and Macklin Cain of Dardanelle, AR; two sisters, Hallie Davenport of Russellville, AR and Mary Lee Clark of Cabot, AR and several nephews and nieces

Birkhead, Oleta Elizabeth "Tincey"

Oleta Elizabeth "Tincey" Birkhead went to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, November 7th, 2007. She was born on September 21st, 1924 in Dardanelle, AR, daughter of the late J. H. Sr. and Ada Dewey Tilmon Hasty. She spent her early years in Dardanelle before moving to Ola. Tincey graduated from Ola High School in 1942. While her husband Warren was serving his country during WW II, Tincey lived with Warren's aunt and uncle in Wichita, KS and served her country as a riveter for Boeing Aircraft. She was a homemaker for many years before starting her nursing career with Dr. James O. Pennington in the early 60's. She took a year off work and rode a bus daily to Petit Jean Vo-Tech at Morrilton to earn her LPN license. She worked as Dr. Pennington's Nurse until her retirement in 1986. Her duties included making numerous house calls across Yell County at all hours of the day and night. Many patients would only allow "Tincey" to give them shots. She loved her family and was very family oriented. She was active in all of her daughter Linda's school activities. She and Warren followed the Mustangs everywhere. She liked to cook, can, and sew; however, most of all, she loved spending time with her granddaughter Kelly. Rocking, reading stories, baking sugar cookies and making Christmas angels were special times for a loving and caring grandmother. She was a member of the Ola United Methodist Church where she served as unpaid pianist and organist for over 60 years. She also taught Children's Sunday School for many years as well as Vacation Bible School. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Elwanda Ellis and her brothers Charles Hasty and Brice Hasty.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Warren Birkhead; daughter Linda & Jim Young of Little Rock; granddaughter Kelly & Chris Brown of Little Rock and great grandchildren Kenley Raye and Tyler Christian Brown of Little Rock; a brother J. H. Jr. and Pat Hasty of Ola and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Oleta suffered a massive stroke in February of 2004 and spent her last years at Yell County Nursing Home of Ola. A special thanks to Dr. Michael Chesser, Dr. Phillip Tippin, Marilyn Tippin and the employees of Yell Co. Nursing Home and Chambers Mem. Hospital who provided excellent care to her as well as the family. God scatters his common folks with a lavish hand, but his "special sorts" he creates only seldom. Oleta was truly one of God's "special sorts" and will be deeply missed.

Celebration of Oleta's life was November 10th at the Ola United Methodist Church. Burial was at Elizabeth Hall Cemetery at New Blaine. Birkhead, Wayne Oneal

Wayne Oneal Birkhead, age 92, of Dardanelle died Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. He was born September 12, 1915 at New Blaine to the late Oran and Emma McReynolds Birkhead. He served three years of active duty in Italy while in the United States Army, was the owner and operator of Birkhead's Garage in Dardanelle for many years and was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Dardanelle.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 55 years, Modean Birkhead.

Survivors include his son, Larry Birkhead of Dallas, TX; two sisters, Wanda Mae Brewer of Dardanelle, Zola Rae Pilgreen of Wichita, KS; numerous other family members and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 28, 2007 at 10:00 a. m. at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with Rev. Roger Glover officiating. Interment was in Elizabeth Hall Cemetery, New Blaine. Bishop, Charles L.

Charles L. Bishop, age 73, of Russellville, AR died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at Dardanelle Hospital. The son of Charlie and Stella Mae (Harris) Bishop, he was born November 18, 1934 in Russellville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae Bishop; his parents; five brothers, JD, Kenneth Ray, Isaac, Billy Jack and Lawrence Bishop.

Survivors include stepdaughter, Melissa & Darryl Bittle of Dardanelle, stepson, Terry & Dawn Tucker of Dardanelle, stepdaughter, Vickie & Mark Everette of New Carlile, Ohio; four brothers, Louie & Ennis Bishop of Moore, Oklahoma, William J "Bill" & Leona Bishop of Russellville, Jerry Wayne Bishop of Russellville, Gary Don & Ruby Bishop of North Little Rock; five sisters, Loreda Stice of Des Arc, Edna Taylor of Texas, Joyce Nina Bishop of Ola, Virginia Sue Shoemaker of Bauxite, Gloria Mae & Burlin Lunningham of Russellville; stepbrother, Robert Bishop of San Diego, California; numerous nieces and nephews.

Dorace Geraldine Bishop, 82, of Plainview died February 11, 2012 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was born July 6, 1929 in Putnam, Oklahoma to the late Clifford Gorrell and Mittie Edith Gorrell. Mrs. Bishop was a homemaker and a member of Plainview Free Will Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband Bro. Gene Bishop and a sister, Dayle Denney.

Survivors include 4 sons, Bro. David Bishop and wife Patsy of Atkins, Brother Dale Bishop and wife Sandra of Sapporo Japan, Mark Bishop and wife Marilyn of Lake Village, and Nathan Bishop and wife Marlene of Plainview. Other survivors include 2 sisters, Kathryn Yerton of Farmington and Mary Belle Lea of Richmond, Virginia, 9 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.

Bishop, Gene, Rev.

Rev. Gene Bishop, age 57 of Mannford, OK, formerly of Yell County, died March 17, 1986 in Drumright, OK. He was a Free Will Baptist minister and pastored churches in Oklahoma and Arkansas for over 30 years.

Survivors are his wife, Dorace Bishop; four sons, David of Dardanelle, Dale of Sapporo Japan, Mark of Lake Village and Nathan of Plainview; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Bishop, Sr. of Winslow; four brothers, James of Ft. Worth, TX, Otto, Jr. of Batesville, Gerald of Winslow and Jack of West Fork; two sisters, Joan Grimes of Paris, TX and Janice Burrows of Rogers; and nine grandchildren.

Jacob Isaiah Bishop age 15 months of Russellville became an Angel on Wednesday, October 31, 2012. He was born July 23, 2011 at Little Rock. He loved to ride his little rocking pony and wear his cowboy hat around the hospital and wave at everyone.

Survivors include his mother, Angelina Cochran and husband Dusty; one brother, Lane Cochran; grandparents, Kirk and Loretta Maynard, Wayne Cochran, Nathan and Marlene Bishop, Joe and Darla Windsor and many other relatives and friends.

Jean William Bishop, age 83, a resident of Russellville, AR, died Thursday, August 28, 1997 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center at Russellville. He was born on September 1, 1913 at Kinsley, KS to William and Emma Hottowitz Bishop. He was a retired metal worker with Kelite Company in Los Angeles. He was a member of the West Side Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Bishop and a sister, Louise Bishop.

Letannah Bishop, age 87, of Norman, OK, formerly of Russellville, AR, died Tuesday, September 4, 2007 in Norman. The daughter of Alfred and Clyde Moudy Dickey, she was born April 14, 1920 in Havana. She was a 1939 graduate of Belleville High School. She was a member of the Alameda Church of Christ in Norman and of the West Side Church of Christ when she lived in Russellville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, John J. Link and her second husband, Jean William Bishop; a son, John Sherman Link; two grandchildren, Jonna Gail Link and John Gregory Link; four brothers, Randall, Ralph, Raymond and Rudolph Dickey and a daughter-in-law, Tami Link.

She is survived by a son, Joseph Brent Link, Norman, OK; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon & Lanny Bosnick, Moro, AR; a daughter-in-law, Margie Link, Lubbock, TX; two brothers, Ray and Richard Dickey both of Belleville, AR; three sisters, Lamoine Bishop, Yorba Linda, CA, Lavada Gordon, Torrance, CA, Lydia Franklin, Russellville, AR; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be at 2 pm Saturday, September 15, 2007 at Humphrey Chapel with Bruce Grice and Gary Frazier officiating. Burial will be at Russell Cemetery at Belleville by Humphrey Funeral Service. Bissell, Arland R.

Arland R. Bissell, age 68, of Story, died Friday, November 16, 2007 at his home. He was born May 9, 1939 in New Hope, AR to the late Ansley and Wilma Summit Bissell. He was an Air Force Veteran and a truck driver for Wal-Mart. He was an active member of the Mt. Ida V.F.W. and the Story Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents and niece, Holly Bissell.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Linda Faye Smith Bissell; daughter, Tressie Renee; son, David Jason Bissell; nephew, Brady and wife; Rochelle Bissell, niece; Tory, and husband, Brian Abernathy; a host of family and friends. May God have mercy on us all.

Bill Thomas Bittle, age 65 of Dardanelle, died Thursday, February 27, 2003 at the Dardanelle Hospital. He was born September 12, 1937 to the late IG Bittle. He was a retired supervisor for Wayne Poultry and a member and former deacon of the First Baptist Church, Rover.

Survivors are his mother and stepfather, Mazell Bittle and Harvey Richards; two daughters, Tonia McDaniel of Rover, Teresa Gagne of Towanda, Pennsylvania, special companion, Ruth Ann Novey of Dardanelle; three brothers, Bobby Bittle of Russellville, Jackie Bittle of Dardanelle, IJ Bittle of Gridley, Kansas; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Services were Monday, March 3, 2003 at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with Rev. Wiley Jones officiating. Interment was in Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle. Bittle, Coy

Coy Bittle, age 88, of Ola, AR, died Sunday, February 1, 2004 at Yell County Nursing Home in Ola, AR. He was the son of Olgar and May (McCoy) Bittle, born May 3, 1915 in Plainview, AR. He married Beulah E. Denison on May 3, 1941. He was a carpenter, former member of the Ola City Council, a member of the Broad of Trustees at the Ola United Methodist Church, where he was a former Sunday School teacher and superintendent.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; one brother and a granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife, Beulah Bittle of Ola, AR; three sons and daughters-in-law, Dennie & Betty Bittle of Ola, AR, John and Marie Bittle and James and Vicki Bittle all of Russellville, AR; two daughters and son-in-law, Mary and Ralph Earley of Blue Springs, MO and Lynn Grindel of North Potomac, MD; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p. m. Thursday, February 5, 2004 at Ola United Methodist Church with Rev. Donna Alberts officiating. Burial will be at Carter Cove Cemetery at Plainview, AR by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
