Barnett, James D.

James D. Barnett, 73 of Leavenworth, died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at his home. He was born November 13, 1932, in Danville, AR, the son of Dogan and Callie Mae (Owens) Barnett. He was a light aircraft pilot and enjoyed flying. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol for a short time. He worked for Kaaz Construction and later became the director of training for the greater Kansas City Laborers Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lloyd Barnett, Lawrence Barnett and Don Barnett; a sister, Mary Rainey and two sons, Stuart Barnett and Shawn Barnett.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Ruth) Herring, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and John Poundstone of Reno, NV; two sons and daughter-in-law, Scott and Mary Barnett of Winchester, KS and Steven Barnett of Los Angeles; two sisters, Lou Frost and Patsy Abbot; two brothers, David Barnett and Ronald Barnett, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Barnett, James Loyd

James Loyd Barnett, age 83, of Dardanelle, AR died Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at Stella Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Russellville, AR. He was born October 24, 1915 in Plainview, AR to the late John and Lou George Barnett. He attended the Centerville Free Will Baptist Church and retired from Valmac, farming and barge work.

He is survived by, his wife of 61 years, Clara Bailey Barnett of Dardanelle, AR; a brother, John Henry Barnett of Dardanelle; a sister, America Tedder of Monticello, IL and eighteen nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was Friday at the Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. Bobby Wells officiating. Burial was in Ringer Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kenneth Grant, Charles Deeds, Donald Standridge, Kenny Gilbert, Kenny Standridge and Al Gaddis. Honorary was Kenneth Eubanks, Billy Standridge, Charles Lewis and John Barnett. Barnett, Janell Joy

Janell Joy Barnett (Big Mama), 73, of Leavenworth, KS, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 17, 2005. She was born the daughter of Alfred Andrew Miller and Esther Mae (Butler) Miller on September 1, 1931 in Ohio County, Arkansas. She married Lawrence Alfred Thomas Barnett on March 6, 1947 in Danville, AR. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Leavenworth where she was baptized and saved. She was employed by Homer's Drive Inn for over 42 years. She was an avid sports fan; she loved the Chiefs, the Royals and KU Basketball. She was a star basketball player and cheerleader in high school. She enjoyed playing Bunko and Bingo. She was a fantastic cook and was known for her incredible homemade fudge. She enjoyed country music and Elvis. She lived her life unselfishly and to the fullest, enjoying every moment with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed. She Was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a son, Michael Barnett; two brothers, Clyde and Clay Miller; three sisters, Bernice Kitchens, Connie Bishup, and Gerthel Miller.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice Kroll; son-in-law, Jack Kroll of Leavenworth; son, Larry Barnett and his partner, Debbie Fritz of Leavenworth; four granddaughters; one grandson; one great granddaughter; two YaYa granddaughters; two sisters, Joyce Kitchens and Wanell James; two brother-in-laws, Orner Kitchens and O.J. James; close friend and companion, George Mennesson and many adoring nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 21, 2005 at the Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth, KS with Rev. Randall Terrill officiating. Barnett, Jimmy Ray

Mr. Jimmy Ray Barnett, age 41, of Dardanelle, AR died Saturday, May 3, 1997, at AMI St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. He was born June 26, 1955 in Russellville, AR. He was a laborer with Russellville Steel.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Girtha Bailey Barnett and two brothers, James Lee and Jackie Barnett.

Survivors include a daughter, Christy Raeleane Jones of Centerville; his father, John Henry Barnett of Slaty Crossing; a brother, John Phillip Barnett of Chickalah; three sisters, Patsy Dees, Donna Gaddis and Sheila Gilbert all of Slaty Crossing; one grandson, Joseph Layton of Centerville and several nephews and nieces.

Joe Clyde "J.C." Barnett, age 69, of Danville passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at his home. J.C. was born May 15, 1946, in Belleville to the late Joe & Edna Haney Barnett. J.C. loved his family dearly and thought the world of his grandkids and great-grandkids.

Barnett, John Henry

John Henry Barnett, age 81 of Dardanelle, died Friday, October 3, 2003 at his home. He was born December 24, 1921 in the Kingston Community, Yell County, Arkansas to the late John Robert and Lou George Barnett. He was a farmer and drove a truck for Tom Jones Lumber Company for many years and then went to work for Legacy Lodge Nursing Home in Russellville, where he was Maintenance Supervisor. He was a WWII Army Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Girtha Bailey Barnett; three sons, James Barnett, Jimmy Barnett and Jackie Barnett; three brothers, Leroy Barnett, James Loyd Barnett, Robert S. Barnett; one sister, America Tedder and a half-brother, James Floyd West.

Survivors are one son, John Phillip Barnett of Dardanelle; three daughters, Patsy Ann Deeds, Donna Jean Gaddis and Sheila Lynn Gilbert, all of Dardanelle; fourteen grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Services were Monday, October 6, 2003 at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with Rev. Joe Yates officiating. Interment was in Ringer Cemetery with military honors by Boyce-Woods VFW Post 4131 in Dardanelle. Raymond Dale Barnett, age 54, of Booneville, AR passed away Sunday, May 7, 2000, in Paris, AR. He was a veteran of the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, a member of Booneville VFW Post 5248 and was a Baptist. He was also a deputy sheriff in Merced County, CA.

Barnett, U. C.

U. C. Barnett, 85, former superintendent of the Dermont public schools and former teacher in Yell County died Friday afternoon in a Dermont hospital. Mr. Barnett, a retired teacher, had been a hospital patient about two weeks. His condition become critical about a week ago. Before his retirement, Mr. Barnett had taught in Arkansas public schools 36 years and for five years was an instructor at the College of the Ozarks, Clarksville.

Wanda Lea Barnett, age 85, of Dardanelle, AR died Thursday, August 21, 2008. She was born April 30, 1923 at Delaware, AR to the late William Robert and Lillie Jane Booth Rollans. She was a member of the Chickalah Church of Christ, where she was a Sunday school teacher for 40 years, a member of the EH Club for 62 years and a 4-H Club leader.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lemoyne Barnett; a granddaughter, Leslye Warnock; four brothers and seven sisters.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Reedy Rounsaville of Belleville, AR; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Vicki Barnett of Pottsville, AR; grandsons, Phillip Warnock of Texas, Shelby, Todd and Rusty Barnett all of Pottsville.

William Thomas Barnett was born October 2, 1871 at Alpha, Ark. and died Sunday April 8th. He had spent most of his life in Yell County.

DARDANELLE - Wilson Woodrow "Bussie" Barnett Sr., 91, of Dardanelle died Sunday, October 26, 2008, at Dardanelle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born March 19, 1917, in Yell County to Robert E. Lee and Amy Batchelor Barnett. He was a retired truck driver for Inland Steel Co. in East Chicago, Ind., an Army veteran of World War II and was of the Protestant faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred Carroll Barnett; brothers, Gilbert Barnett, Ira Barnett, Edward Barnett, Eugene Barnett, Russell Barnett and Elmer Barnett; and sisters, Rena Garnern and Lottie Dee Meredith.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Wilson Jr. and Linda Barnett of Dardanelle; daughter, Millie Miles of Dardanelle; grandchildren and spouses, Julia and Edward White of London, Jennifer and Cliff Cummings of Russellville, Emilee Miles of Dardanelle and D.C. Barnum, G. William (Rev.), (With Wife & Daughter)

A retired minister, his wife and their daughter died Saturday after their compact car collided head-on with a truck near Fayetteville. Rev. G. William Barnum, about 70, and his wife, about 65, were killed instantly. Miss Mary L. Barnum, 39, died about three hours later in a Fayetteville Hospital. Barnum's car collided with a truck driven by Marvin Wells, 25, of Belleville on a curve near West Fork, 13 miles south of Fayetteville on Highway 71. The accident happened about 7 a.m. Wells, a driver for the Joe Ray Poultry Co. of Danville, was driving a truck loaded with empty egg cases. Barnum, Richard Roland

Richard Roland Barnum, age 63, of Dardanelle formerly of Riverside, CA, died Wednesday, September 28, 2005 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. He was born September 12, 1942 at Toledo, Ohio to the late Richard Paul and Pauline J. Ropp Barnum. He was a supervising computer programmer for Stater Brothers Market in Colton, CA for 10 years and was a dedicated husband for 41 years to his wife Sonia Barnum and a loving father and grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Olive Werner of Toledo, Ohio.

Leeann Ragina Barrett, age 47, of Ola died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville. She was born February 2, 1966 in Moline, Illinois. Leeann loved fishing, cooking and taking care of her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Watts, brother, Steven Morse, stepbrother, Mark Watts.

Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Allen Barrett, five children, Royce Barrett and wife Erin of Texas; Laura Mallett of Ola; Christina Lemonds and husband Roy of Dover; Larry Barrett of Texas and Sam Smith and husband Michael of Paris; two brothers, Paul Watts of Colorado and Jeff Watts of Iowa and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Memorial Service was at 10:00 AM Saturday January 11, 2014 at Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel in Dardanelle. Barrick, Doyle Kenneth

Doyle Kenneth Barrick, age 89, was born August 9, 1921 in the Riley Creek community near Belleville, AR to Lillard Chester and Bessie Lou Ellen Moudy Barrick, died November 10, 2010 at Mitchell Nursing Home in Danville. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force 399th Bomb Squad as a tailgunner trainer from 1942 through 1946. He served on the Belleville School Board for 11 years, was a former Mayor of Belleville and spent many years working for Wayne Farms and for the Danville School District and was a farmer all his life. He attended the First Baptist Church in Danville. He loved the land and outdoors particularly Riley Creek where he grew up with its waterfall, Kirkwood Hole, and all the old "home- places" he could recall. He instilled his love for camping in his son and grandsons who have an abundance of memories and stories from the many camping trips they made with him through their growing-up years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Earl, Wayne and L.C.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Melbarene Shott Barrick; children and spouses, Sheila and Neil Barfield of Norman, OK, Teresa and Harold Majors of Little Rock, Hilda and Larry Porter of Mulberry, Randy and Nancy Barrick of Danville and Ginger and Troy Templeman of Danville; grandchildren, Haco Barfield, Stephen and Margaret Majors, Katie (Majors) and Levi Johnson, Matthew and Tracy Porter, Mason and April Porter, Holly (Porter) Cook, Taylor Barrick, Boyd Barrick, Brook (Gray) and Darrel Housley; four great grandsons; five great granddaughters; two sisters, Pauline Harris of Danville and Lamoyne Moudy of Little Rock; one aunt, Mildred Barrick Cousins of Muskogee, OK; sisters and brothers-in-law, Chloe and Charlie Ward of Magazine, Fern Smith of Havana and Jim and Betty Shott of Booneville; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and legions of friends.

Funeral service was Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Danville First Baptist Church with Rev. Clayton Sheets and Rev. Keith Kluthe officiating. Burial was in the Russell Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dave Barrick, Jerry & Brian Harris, Jim Moudy, Mike & Rocky Smith and Dale & Doug Shott. Honorary were grandsons. Harold Wayne Barrick passed away December 1, 2005 in Las Vegas. He was born on September 11, 1924 at Riley Creek, Arkansas. He was a school teacher and basketball coach for 35 years. He taught school and coached basketball in California, eastern Oklahoma, Dibble and Wanette, OK. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; he was a man of integrity, a kind gentle man with a wealth of knowledge and will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Bess Barrick; two brothers, Earl and L.C. Barrick.

Lillard Chester Barrick Sr., age 66, a resident of Belleville, died at a hospital in Danville Tuesday, March 3. He was a retired farmer, a native of Danville, a veteran of World War II and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie Moudy Barrick; four sons, Earl Barrick of Cripple Creek, Colo., Doyle Barrick of Belleville, Wayne Barrick of Wister, Okla., and L.C. Barrick Jr. of Santa Clara, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Pauline Harris of Rio Oso, Calif, and Mrs. Laymone Moudy of Ola.; three brothers, Gene Barrick of Merced, Calif., Lloyd Barrick and Archie Barrick of Yuba City, Calif.; five sisters, Mrs. Edith Wilkerson of Merced, Calif., Mrs. Etta Poe of Winston, Calif., Mrs. Mae Raiford of Watson, Mrs. Lora Belle Frame of Ft. Meredith Ann Barrick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barrick of Dardanelle, was born April 17, 1947 and departed this life October 20, 1954 at 7:40 P. M. in St. Edwards Hospital, Fort Smith, after a three month illness.

Ruby Maxine Barrick, age 87 of Glendale, Arizona, passed away peacefully on January 6. 2008.

Archie Andrew Barry, age 83, of Morrilton, Arkansas passed away Saturday, December 10, 2005. He was born July 22, 1922 in Plainview, AR, a son of Hugh Jackson Barry and Dora Estella Mund Barry. He was a deacon and fifty year choir member of Morrilton First Baptist Church, WWII U.S. Coast Guard Veteran, 32nd Degree Mason and a retired maintenance general mechanic from Arkansas Kraft.

He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Ernestine Leach Barry of Morrilton; two sons, Dennis Barry of Arlington, TX, Steve Barry of North Little Rock; two brothers, James Barry of Lodi, CA, Jack Barry of Blue Springs, MO; one sister, Anna Jane Latimer of Lockesburg, AR and three grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Morrilton First Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Brown and Rev. Coy Sample officiating. Barry, Earnestine (Leach)

Ernestine Leach Barry, 90, of Little Rock went to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 22, 2014. She was born June 19, 1924 in Plainview, AR to the late B.A. Leach and Ola Breashears Leach.

On December 17, 1944 she was married to Archie Barry, who preceded her in death in 2005. Ernestine loved the Lord and family was most important to her. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and sister. She was a resident of Morrilton and a faithful member of the First Baptist Church for over 50 years. She enjoyed singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. Tending to her vegetable garden and many plants was a favorite past-time, as well as, sharing her homemade jellies and sour dough bread. She was an employee of the Museum of Automobiles, Petit Jean and of Wal-Mart for many years.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her sons, Dennis (Jan) Barry, Arlington, TX; Steve (Kathy) Barry, North Little Rock, AR; grandchildren, Elaine (Warren) Wheat, Springdale, AR; Blake (Rachel) Barry, Arlington, TX; Jordan (Sarah) Barry, Waco, TX; great- grandchildren, Will, Emma Kate, and Wyatt Wheat; Catherine Barry. She loved and was loved by numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends. Ernestine was preceded in death by all her beloved siblings, Odell Leach, Thurston Leach, Hanford Leach, Imogene Bridges, Hazel Marcum and Martha Jones.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 27, at the First Baptist Church in Morrilton with Dr. Bill Brown officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. Minnie Belle Montgomery Barry - It is with profound regret and sorrow we chronicle the death of Mrs. William H. Barry, which occurred at her home four miles southwest of Dardanelle at 11 o'clock last Thursday morning, January 30, 1936. Mrs. Barry, who was formerly Miss Minnie Belle Montgomery, was born at Abbieyille, Miss., in 1869, being at the time of her death 67 years of age. She was united in marriage to Mr. Barry on October 22, 1885, at Rover. She is survived by her husband; four daughters, Mrs. Hallie Arnett of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Otho Oliver of Claremore, Okla., Mrs. Jarrett Davis and Mrs. Forrest M. Sparling of Little Rock; two brothers Dr. Tom Montgomery of Bluffton, and Dr. Lee Montgomery of Gravelly; four sisters, Mrs. J. C. Caviness, of Danville; Mrs. J. C. Ship, of Forrester; Mrs. L. Carter of Houston, Tex.; Mrs. Alice Nickleson of Del Rio, Tex.

Funeral services were held at New Hope Church Saturday afternoon, being conducted by Rev; E. E. Stevenson, pastor of the Dardanelle Methodist Church.

Mrs. Barry was a splendid Christian woman, loved and admired throughout the circle of her acquaintanceship for her beautiful character, her deeds of kindliness and goodness and the love she manifest toward her associates. Barry, Virgie Adelynne Breashears

Mrs. Virgie Adelynne Breashears Barry, 93, of Portland, AR died Saturday, September 6, 1997 at the Ashley Memorial Hospital in Crossett. She was born in Plainview, AR, Yell County, on September 4, 1904. She was the youngest of eleven children born to Lemuel Cahzeel and Mary Ellen Hogan Breashears. She graduated from Central Baptist College in Conway in 1926 and Ouachita Baptist College (University in Arkadelphia in 1928 with a degree in education. A devoted educator, she taught first grade in Plainview from 1928 until 1939 and third grade in Portland from 1952 until her retirement in 1969. She was a member of the Arkansas Education Association, the Ashley County Retired Teachers Association and she was a member of the Portland Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Clifton Barry in 1974; a step-daughter, Nell Barnwell of Cabot and nine brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her children, Mary Jane Gee and Martha Rose Dolan both of Crossett, Gary Clifton Barry of Portland, Rebecca Ann Baumgardner of Gurdon, Alice Faye Arnold of Horatio and one stepdaughter, Nancy Jordan of Sheffield, AL; a sister, Effie Thompson of Danville; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was Monday at the Portland Baptist Church with Bro. Jerry Selby and Rev. Ted Grove officiating. Interment was in the Portland Cemetery. Deforest Bartholomew, Sr. age 67, a resident of Ola, AR died Tuesday, June 2, 1998 at UAMS Medical Center at Little Rock, AR. He was born on March 23, 1931 at Santa Maria, CA to Robert and Mabel Patty Bartholomew. He was a retired Chief Quarter Master with U. S. Coast Guard and a Veteran of the Vietnam Era.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Bartholomew of Ola, AR; two sons, Deforest Bartholomew, Jr. and Stephen Robert Bartholomew both of Ola, AR; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Carolyn Bartholomew of Long Beach, CA; numerous nieces and nephews.

Deforest Bartholomew, Jr., age 55 of Ola, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at the Heart Hospital in Little Rock. He was born in Long Island, New York to the late Deforest and Nancy Lea Richardson Bartholomew. He worked for Wayne Farms in Danville and he was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Plainview.

Survivors include his brother, Stephen Robert Bartholomew of Ola.
