Barker, Mamie (Rice) (Mrs.)

It is with deep regret that the Post-Dispatch chronicles the death of Mrs. Claude Barker, aged 39 years, which occurred at the family home on Locust Street at 5:30 this morning. Mrs. Barker had been seriously ill for weeks and her death was not unexpected.

The funeral service, conducted by Rev. Geo. W. Patterson, Pastor of the Russellville Christian Church, will be held at the Christian Church here at 4 o'clock this afternoon, S. A. Masters & Company being in charge. Mrs. Barker was a splendid Christian woman and was loved and admired by all who knew tier.

She is survived by her husband, her mother, Mrs. J. W. Gray, of Tills city, three sisters, Mrs. Gertrude Hubbard and Mrs. Rosa Mae Hendrix, of Darda-nelle, and Mrs. Lola Harkey, of Harkey's Valley; two half-brothers, James and Robert Gray. Barker, Vane Mryle

Vane Mryle Barker, age seventy-four, of Ft. Smith died on Feburary 2, 1997, at a Ft. Smith hospital. He was the son of the Late Warner and Bertha 'Biggs' Barker and a Baptist. He was a retired van driver for the Senior Citizen Center of Ft. Smith. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Genesie Barker and a daughter, Vanessa Martin.

He is survived by two daughters, Pam Weaver of Magazine and Martha Green of Ft. Smith; a brother, Lyndon Barker of North Little Rock; a sister, Franchion Davis of Benton; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Barker, Warner

Warner Barker, 93, of Havana died Friday, December 7, at Mitchell Nursing Home at Danville. He was a retired farmer, veteran of World War I, member of the First Baptist Church where he served as deacon for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bertha Biggs Barker; two sons, Lyndon Barker of Havana and Vane M. Barker of Fort Smith; a daughter, Fanchion Davis of Benton; nine grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren.

Funeral was Monday, December 10 at the First Baptist Church of Havana by the Rev. Bill Storts. Burial was in Piney Cemetery near Waveland by Dixon Funeral Service of Danville. Belva Ann Barnes, age 62, of Centerville died Tuesday at her home. She was born April 23, 1939 in Russellville. She was the daughter of the late Carrel and Clara Chenowith Luningham. She was retired from Olson Realty and was a member of the First Baptist Church Centerville where she served as pianist for the past 6 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Loy Sweat and a daughter, Lelani Sweat; a sister and nephew, Brenda and Scott Palmer; sister-in-law, Barbara Luningham, and her father-in-law, O. D. Barnes.

Barnes, Charlie P.

Charlie P. Barnes, age 84, died at the Yell County Hospital August 14. He was a native of Alabama, a retired farmer and public works employee, and a member of the Methodist Church.

He is survived by several nephews and nieces.

Dianne Dean Barnes, age 40, of East End, AR, went to be with the Lord September 28, 1998. She was a member of the Chicot Road Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Edward L. Barnes of East End; two sons, Christopher M. Barnes and Scott A. Barnes; two brothers, Nathan Ellis and Clay Ellis all of East End; her father, Arvad C. Ellis of Blue Mtn. AR; her mother and her husband, Joy Haggard (formerly of Danville, AR) and Robert Haggard Jr. of East End; her grandmothers, Lottie Ellis of Havana, AR and Nila Haggard; one half sister, Sarah Ellis; two half brothers, John Ellis and Robert Ellis; three step sisters, Rosanne Casiano, Kathleen Steams and Connie Howard; two step brothers, Mark Daniel and Robert Haggard III; and many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Barnes, Edna

Edna Barnes, age 95 of Dardanelle, died Saturday, June 12, 2010 at River Valley Medical Center. She was born January 16, 1915 at Arkadelphia to the late Luther and Ruby Whorton Ham. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Dardanelle.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, O. D. Barnes and two infant daughters.

Survivors include her son, Darrell Barnes and wife, Wanda of Dardanelle; a brother, James Ham of Prudorn, TX; a sister, Alto Fay Mifflin of Brady, TX; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Jeraldine Barnes, age 76, of Rover, AR died Wednesday, December 24, 1997 at her daughter's home in Rover, AR. She was die widow of Joe H. Barnes. She was born August 6, 1921 at Mt. George, AR to the late Lillie Mae Davenport Lewis. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the First Baptist Church at Ola.

She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Jessica Vandiver.

Barnes, Roberta Dene

Roberta Dene Barnes, of Waverly, KS, died November 24, 2003. She was born August 16, 1928 at Alvord, TX, the daughter of Robert & Carrie Washburn Wiley. As a child she lived in Atoka, OK before moving with her family to Waverly, where she graduated high school. On November 9, 1946 she married Mervin Barnes, a Naval career man. He died June 24, 2001. She was a member of Waverly First Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She was employed as legal secretary for Hannen & Hannen in Burlington until her retirement.

She was also preceded in death by her father, Robert Wiley, her mother & stepfather, John & Carrie Wiley Moats & a brother Kennith Moats.

Survivors include a son, Steven Barnes & wife, Stacy; 2 grandchildren, Kara & Calin Barnes of Overland Park, KS; four brothers, Lyndell Wayne Wiley of San Jose, CA, Haddon Moats of Richardson, TX, Albert Moats of Danville and Douglas Moats of Austin, AR; 3 sisters, Aline Tygart of Belleville, Frieda Sugita of Dixon, CA, Eva Phillips of Dardanelle.

Barnett, Danny Ray

Danny Ray Barnett, 63, of Havana, Arkansas, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 in his home near Havana, Arkansas. He was born September 14, 1951 in Danville, Arkansas to Tarriff and Alma (Roberson) Barnett. He was a master plumber. He enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandkids, horses and his dog Oreo.

He is preceded in death in death by his parents before mentioned; brothers, Raymond Dale Barnett and J.T. Barnett; grand-daughter, Alma Grace Newton.

Mrs. Delorris Barnett, age 82, of Camden, formerly of Russellville, died Sunday, November 9, 1986 at Camden. She was the daughter of the late Tom and Jessie Davenport Dunford, and was a retired sales clerk, former school teacher and a Methodist.

Herbert Lewis Barnett, age 75, of Dardanelle, AR died Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at St. Mary's in Russellville, AR. He was born July 12, 1929 at Dardanelle, son of the late Lewis and Mae Kent Barnett.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Kent Barnett.

Barnett, James D.

James D. Barnett, 73 of Leavenworth, died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at his home. He was born November 13, 1932, in Danville, AR, the son of Dogan and Callie Mae (Owens) Barnett. He was a light aircraft pilot and enjoyed flying. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol for a short time. He worked for Kaaz Construction and later became the director of training for the greater Kansas City Laborers Union.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lloyd Barnett, Lawrence Barnett and Don Barnett; a sister, Mary Rainey and two sons, Stuart Barnett and Shawn Barnett.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (Ruth) Herring, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and John Poundstone of Reno, NV; two sons and daughter-in-law, Scott and Mary Barnett of Winchester, KS and Steven Barnett of Los Angeles; two sisters, Lou Frost and Patsy Abbot; two brothers, David Barnett and Ronald Barnett, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

James Loyd Barnett, age 83, of Dardanelle, AR died Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at Stella Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Russellville, AR. He was born October 24, 1915 in Plainview, AR to the late John and Lou George Barnett. He attended the Centerville Free Will Baptist Church and retired from Valmac, farming and barge work.

He is survived by, his wife of 61 years, Clara Bailey Barnett of Dardanelle, AR; a brother, John Henry Barnett of Dardanelle; a sister, America Tedder of Monticello, IL and eighteen nieces and nephews and a host of great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was Friday at the Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. Bobby Wells officiating. Burial was in Ringer Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kenneth Grant, Charles Deeds, Donald Standridge, Kenny Gilbert, Kenny Standridge and Al Gaddis. Honorary was Kenneth Eubanks, Billy Standridge, Charles Lewis and John Barnett. Janell Joy Barnett (Big Mama), 73, of Leavenworth, KS, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 17, 2005. She was born the daughter of Alfred Andrew Miller and Esther Mae (Butler) Miller on September 1, 1931 in Ohio County, Arkansas. She married Lawrence Alfred Thomas Barnett on March 6, 1947 in Danville, AR. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Leavenworth where she was baptized and saved. She was employed by Homer's Drive Inn for over 42 years. She was an avid sports fan; she loved the Chiefs, the Royals and KU Basketball. She was a star basketball player and cheerleader in high school. She enjoyed playing Bunko and Bingo. She was a fantastic cook and was known for her incredible homemade fudge. She enjoyed country music and Elvis. She lived her life unselfishly and to the fullest, enjoying every moment with her family and friends. She will be deeply missed. She Was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; a son, Michael Barnett; two brothers, Clyde and Clay Miller; three sisters, Bernice Kitchens, Connie Bishup, and Gerthel Miller.

She is survived by her daughter, Janice Kroll; son-in-law, Jack Kroll of Leavenworth; son, Larry Barnett and his partner, Debbie Fritz of Leavenworth; four granddaughters; one grandson; one great granddaughter; two YaYa granddaughters; two sisters, Joyce Kitchens and Wanell James; two brother-in-laws, Orner Kitchens and O.J. James; close friend and companion, George Mennesson and many adoring nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 21, 2005 at the Belden-Sexton-Sumpter Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth, KS with Rev. Randall Terrill officiating. John Henry Barnett, age 81 of Dardanelle, died Friday, October 3, 2003 at his home. He was born December 24, 1921 in the Kingston Community, Yell County, Arkansas to the late John Robert and Lou George Barnett. He was a farmer and drove a truck for Tom Jones Lumber Company for many years and then went to work for Legacy Lodge Nursing Home in Russellville, where he was Maintenance Supervisor. He was a WWII Army Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Girtha Bailey Barnett; three sons, James Barnett, Jimmy Barnett and Jackie Barnett; three brothers, Leroy Barnett, James Loyd Barnett, Robert S. Barnett; one sister, America Tedder and a half-brother, James Floyd West.

Survivors are one son, John Phillip Barnett of Dardanelle; three daughters, Patsy Ann Deeds, Donna Jean Gaddis and Sheila Lynn Gilbert, all of Dardanelle; fourteen grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Services were Monday, October 6, 2003 at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with Rev. Joe Yates officiating. Interment was in Ringer Cemetery with military honors by Boyce-Woods VFW Post 4131 in Dardanelle. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Terry Mark Barnett Jr.; daughter, Stormie Palmer; sister, Mildred Louise Thomlinson; and grandparents, Jesse and Vera Bice and Dogan and Callie Barnett.
