Calvin C. Steelman, 71, retired railroad agent and resident of Banks for most of his life, died in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Carl Rowland, here Monday. He was a native of Calhoun County and a member of the Methodist Church.

Daniel Stephens, age 44, a lifelong resident of Belleville, died at a Little Rock hospital, May 13, 1952. He was a Baptist.

Mrs. Addie Adeline Stevenson, aged 79, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Woodard of Belleville Wednesday March 9. She was a native of Tennessee and had lived at Belleville about 11 years. She was a Baptist.

Joe Steward, age 57 was killed January 5, 1954 while working in the oil field in Oklahoma.

Arlie Otto Stewart, age70, of Belleville Rt. 1 died at the Yell County Hospital Monday, June 27 He was a native of Texas, a retired farmer and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Clara Mae Stewart; four sons, Homer J. Stewart, Bruce W. Stewart, William Otto Stewart all of Belleville Rt. 1 and Bolen Leston Stewart of Winslow; two sisters, Mrs. C. T-Sgt. Jack Stewart- Final rites were held last week for Marine TSgt. Jack Stewart, 30, at Bellflower, Calif. He was killed in a traffic crash near the Barstow Marine Base where was stationed.
In addition to his wife, Doria Russell Stewart, he is survived by five brothers, Kenneth of Bellflower, Wayne of Saugus, John of Oklahoma City, George and James of Durant, Okla. and two sisters, Mrs. Nell Merin of Stockton and Molly Stewart of New Mexico.
Just a month ago Joe Stewart, father of T-Sgt. was killed in an accident in the Oklahoma oil fields. T-Sgt. Stewart was a veteran of 14 years in the Marine Corps. He served in World War II and spent a year in a hospital recovering from wounds and was wounded again in Korea in 1952. Mrs. Mary Stout died at her home in Wing, Sunday, January 16, 1949. She was born in Belleville and had lived in and around Wing for thel ast twenty-five years.
She is survived by her husband, two sons, Jack and Billy; four daughters Anna, Dorthy, Joy and Mary all of Wing; one sister, Miss Evie Tollison of Briggsville and four brothers, Ted of Briggsville, Ralph of Bigelow, Alvin of Watson and Winton of Hot Springs.

Infant Betty Stroud - 2 lb. 4 oz. Infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Stroud Jr. died six and one-half hours after birth at the Paris hospital Sunday, November26.

Mrs. Callie Donnie Stroude, age 53, died at her home near Belleville on Sunday February 13, 1955. She was born at London, Ark., a daughter of the fate Robert Gibson and Delnora Price Gibson. She was a member of the Wilson Free Will Baptist Church.

Mrs. Lundia A. Sugg, age 85, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Roxy Dooly, Belleville, Thursday, October 27, 1949.
She was the widow of the late J. S. Sugg and is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dooly of Belleville and Mrs. Thedia Joiner of Checotah, Oklahoma; and a son, L. M. Sugg, Little Rock.

Vernon V Sugg, of St. Petersburg, Fla, died in St. Anthony's Hospital in that city on April 17, 1956 from cancer. Mr. Sugg was born and raised in Dardanelle. He was a Post Officer inspector until his retirement at which time he went to St. Petersburg to make his home. Mrs. Julia Phredonia Sullivant, age 81, was born June 19, 1867, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Sullivant of Corinth and died in the Danville Clinic May 12. She lived in Belleville most of her life. Burial was May 14 in the Belleville Cemetery.

Casa Man Dies In Fire Hurbert Swilley, age 50, Casa laborer, died Sunday in a fire which destroyed his two-room house in Casa. The victim apparently caused the blast when he poured kerosene into a wood heater, according to Sheriff A. A. Wright of Perry County. Mrs. Kathryn Talley, age 17, of Kansas City, Mo. formerly from the Mosley community in Yell County, died at a hospital in Kansas City on May 17.
Funeral services were on May 18, with burial in the Chickalah cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary A. Tate, 76, who died at 10:40 a. m. Sunday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. Walter Padgett were held Wednesday at 2 p. m. in the Danville Baptist Church. Officiating at the last rites were Rev. Jack Hull, pastor. Burial was in Danville Cemetery beside her husband, Thomas Tate, who died in May, 1945. Mrs. Tate was born February 14, 1876 in Scott County and had been a lifelong resident of Arkansas. Before moving to Perry County in 1954, she had resided in Rover, Danville, Plainview, Belleville and various other Yell county communities. She had also lived in Hot Springs and Benton.
Besides Mrs. Padgett, she is survived by five other daughters, Mrs. Ida Albright, Oakland, Calif, Mrs. Martha Willard, Harlingen, Tex. Mrs. Susan Brown, Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Katherine Elmer, New Orleans, La. and Mrs. Betty Ann Chronister, Cleveland, Ohio; three sons, Jacob Carey of Seattle, Wash., John R of Little Rock and Richard of San Bernardino, Calif, 22 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Mrs. Imogene Chappel Taurte, formerly of Danville, passed away while on the operating table in Aubuckle, Calif. February 3, 1948, at her age of 18 years and five months and was laid to rest at that place February 5 with a great host of her many friends attending the service. She was married to Noble J. Taylor in 1891, who preceded her in death, and is survived by three son, Leonard of Ft. Smith, Jack of Thibodaux, La. and Glenn of Havana; four daughters, Mrs. W. H. Reynolds and Mrs. Opal Pledger of Belleville, Mrs. George West of Dardanelle and Mrs. Ted Pledger of Thibodaux, La; and by 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

William Henry Taylor was born near Lankford, Alabama in 1859, where he grew to manhood and married Miss Judy Richard. Shortly afterward they moved to Arkansas, in 1887, where he spent the remainder of his life. The past few years was in the home of his youngest daughter, Mrs. Pearl Haston of Waltreak, where he passed away on March 21st, 1949 lacking until the 10th of April being 90 years old. He lived in Havana for more than 40 years and served as an Elder in the Church of Christ during all this time.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Mina Evans of Louisiana, Mrs. R. A. Baker, Arkansas, Mrs. C. M. Haston of Waltreak, Mrs. Julius Weldon, Ft. Smith, and Mrs. Chester McBride, Havana; 26 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Theodocia Teal, age 86, died in her home on Cedar Creek, Monday May 31, 1948, after many months of illness. She was born and raised at Cedar Creek and lived there all her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Tedder, and is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Denney of Culver City. Mrs. Nettie Thompson, age 86, formerly of Danville, died last week at Tacoma, Wash. where she had been living with her daughter. She moved to Danville about 1937 and left here in 1955.

David Wendell Tidwell was bornSeptember31, 1931 and passed away August 2, 1952 when the pickup truck he was driving overturned and killed him. He was alone when the accident happened, 12 miles north of Euka, Nevada.

Seven former Yell County Residents Killed by Tornado - Mr. and Mrs. E.U. Tidwell and five children, who formerly lived in the Chalybeate community, were among 35 persons who lost their lives in a tornado that struck Union and Star City communities near Pine Bluff last Sunday.
Bodies of the seven members of the Tidwell family were sent to Danville Tuesday and services were held at the Chalybeate cemetery.

Rites Held for Yell's First Returned War Dead Funeral services were conducted at Chalybeate Friday, December 12,1947 for Pvt. Jesse F. A. Tidwell, Yell County's first heroic war dead to be returned from overseas for burial.
Pvt. Tidwell, who was 36 years of age at the time of his death, was born near Danville and lived here until joining the army February 26, 1942. He was reported killed in action June 7, 1944, while crossing the English Channel during the Normandy invasion and was serving in the 533 Ordinance Division. His body was returned from the St. Laurent Cemetery, Baveux, France and arrived in Danville Thursday, December 11, at 3:46 a.m.
Full military rites were performed by the Danville American Legion Post and services were conducted by Rev. John Freeman, pastor of the Danville Baptist Church. Commander Lewis Nelson reported that approximately 45 men were in uniform at the funeral, with 21 actively participating. At the close of the services, Pvt. Tidwell's father, Henry Tidwell, was presented the flag which had draped the casket.
