Mrs. Martha Viola Rupe, age 84, died at the home of Chelsie Millard at Blue Ball on November 4, 1954. She was born at Blue Ball and spent her entire lifetime in that community. Her husband, John Rupe, and four children preceded her in death.

Jasper Newton Russell, age 78, died at his home in Danville Wednesday, January 16, 1952 after a week's illness. He was born in Carroll County, Tennessee and had been a resident of Yell County for 72 years, most of the time near Belleville. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Russell; three daughters, Mrs. Joe Nunn of Danville, Mrs. W. R. Floyd Leon Rutledge died January 28, 1958 after a short illness in a Ft. Worth hospital. He had been a resident of Ft. Worth for over two years and was formerly from Yell County.

Mrs. Mertie Grooms Rutledge, age 76, wife of the late Charles Rutledge, died in a Los Angeles, Calif, hospital September 16, 1954 and will be buried on Chickalah Mountain.

George C. Ryan, age 66, of Blue Mountain died in a Little Rock Hospital May 7, 1960. He was a retired poultry inspector, a member of the Belleville Masonic Lodge, Magazine American Legion Post and a member of state and national poultry clubs.

M. Frank Sadler, 78, a native of Yell County, died at his home in Carlsbad, N. Mex. on April 7, 1954. He had been in ill health for the past few months. Sadler, a retired farmer, was active in Democratic Party politics here and in Carlsbad for years. He moved to Carlsbad from Yell County in 1923.

Mrs. Fannie Salyers, age 61, died July 29, 1955 at Norman, Okla. She was a former resident of Yell County.

Mack Duke Sandlin died in the Yell County Hospital April 30, 1960 at the age of 92. He was the son of the late J. J. Sandlin and Esther Jane Harper. He was born at Hartsell, Ala. and came to Yell County at an early age. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church and belonged to the Petit Jean Masonic Lodge for 71 years. He was a retired farmer.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Paul Gateley of Ola Rt. I; one son James R. Sandlin of Ola Rt. 1; two sisters, Mrs. J. E. Parton of Duncan, Okla. and Mrs. J. W. R. G. Saunders, a former resident of Yell County was born at Belleville, February 1914 and was killed in a car wreck October 7, 1949 at Gravesprings, near Lebanon, Mo. A 1933 Model pickup, which he was driving went out of control and overturned on Highway 5, five miles south of the city. He was raised and lived most of his life at Steve and Plainview. He also was a Veteran of WWII.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. R. G. Saunders, Lebanon, Mo. He was the son of Mrs. Minnie Hawthorne, Hot Springs and the late George Saunders; three brothers, Wesley of Russellville, Wilbur and Kermit of Texas and G. B. Hays Scisson Dies of Heart Attack- Hays Scisson was born at Riley Creek, near Danville, on October 10, 1889 and died following a heart attack at his home here May 19. He was a druggist and merchant here for many years but had been in ill health the last few years. He was married to Mab Briggs on December 23, 1916.
He is survived by his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Haynes A. Harmon Sr. of Memphis, Tenn. And Mrs. Bill Lewis, Nettleton, Ark.; three grandchildren, Suzanne Harmon and Billy and Tommy Lewis. one sister, Mrs. J. T. Williams of Danville. Uncle Ben Scott of Bauxite, long time resident of the Young Gravelly community in Yell County, departed this life March 8, 1949 at the age of 87 years, and laid to rest in the Bluffton Cemetery. Uncle Ben was a honorary member of Bluffton Lodge No. 123 F. & A. M. and had been a Mason for 50 years. He was well liked by everyone in his acquaintance and resided for more than 50 years near Bluffton in this county.
He is survived by his wife and two sons, Leo and Leon of Bauxite.

Morrilton Man Found Dead in Motel Here - A Morrilton man was found dead in bed in his room at the Red Bird Motel in Danville about 7:30 Wednesday morning. He was Edmond Sellers, about 65, an employee in the School Audit Division of the State Auditorial Dept.
He was found by a co-worker, Henry Aylor, of Mountain Home. Sellers and Aylor had been auditing school records at the courthouse in Danville for several days. About noon Tuesday Sellers was not feeling well and went to his room to rest. Aylor said that they met at a cafe about 5 p. m. and later both went to their rooms at the motel. He said that he didn t hear any sound from Sellers room during the night.
A doctor said that Sellers apparently died in his sleep from a heart attack. Investigation revealed that he had heart trouble. A coroner's jury returned a verdict of death due to natural causes. L. J. Shade, age 70, passed away November 25, 1955 at his home in Danville after a long illness. He was born October 9, 1885 in Carlyle, Ill. He was a member of the Danville Baptist Church and the Danville Masonic Lodge and was an employee of the Rock Island Railroad for many years.

Dardanelle Man Dies In Car Wreck Aubrey Shepard, 43, Dardanelle, was killed Friday night when his car rammed a dump truck on the east end of the Arkansas river bridge. City Marshal James Hodges said in a preliminary investigation, Hodges said, officers were unable to determine whether the truck loaded with coal, was parked on the bridge or was moving across it. The Shepard car plowed into the rear of the truck. Shepard was dead on arrival at a Russellville hospital.

Mrs. Grace Shirley, age 79, of Prattsville died at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock on December 18, 1957. She had suffered a stroke while sitting in her home on the morning of December 11. Mrs. Shirley was a native of Grand Prairie, a community about four miles from Branch, Ark. She united with the Methodist Church at an early age and was also a member of the Eastern Star.

Funeral services for Wesley E. Shott, age 26, of Havana, whose body was returned from overseas for re-burial, were conducted at the National Cemetery in Ft. Smith on July 21 by the Chaplain and with the assistance of Rev. George Findley of Havana. He was wounded on March 19, 1945 while serving with an Infantry Division on Luzon and died on March 24. He was the graduate of Havana high School.

Woman Killed In Accident Near Chalybeate (Mrs. Joyce Sims) - A 35- Year old woman was killed in an accident near Chalybeate last Saturday afternoon. She was identified as Mrs. Joyce Sims, 35 of Clarksville. Mrs. Sims was apparently killed, when the truck in which she was riding ran into a ditch and threw her out. Joe McConnell, 28, of Chickasha, Okla, who was driving the truck, and two small daughters of Mrs. Sims were not Hurt. Mrs. Sims husband was killed in an accident in Hawaii while he was in service. Magazine Man Killed In Hunting Accident - Joe Sloan, 28, of Blue Mountain, died in a Paris hospital Sunday night as the result of a gunshot wound received in a hunting accident.

Arthur Smith - Funeral services for Arthur Smith were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Methodist Church by Rev. James Weatherford. Mr. Smith, a retired railroad engineer, died in his home on Thursday night.

Infant son of Plainview couple dies. David Clifton Smith, 14 month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Smith Sr. of Plainview, died at 1a.m. Friday, December 3, 1948, at the home of this parents.
Survivors are the parents, one brother, Robert L. Smith Jr. of the home;the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. D. C. Carpenter of Waldron; the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Smith of Plainview and a number of aunts and uncles.

William Mathis Smith born September 24, 1864, near Havana, Arkansas and departed this life January 26, 1949 at Okla. City, Okla. He lived near Havana all his life until 12 years ago, when he moved to Oklahoma. He was married to Miss Annie Carter in October 1888 and to the union 11 children were born, 10 still surviving.

Norman Stafford Dies in Fall at Monticello - A brain injury suffered last Wednesday in a fall from a truck proved fatal to Norman E. Stafford, age 55, Monticello logging contractor. Stafford was a former Yell County resident.
He died in Monticello, Thursday after his head had been hit by a wheel of the truck in which he was reportedly riding Wednesday. Reports said that steam from the radiator flew back into Stafford's face and that he either jumped or fell from the back of the truck. His head was hit by a wheel. The accident occurred just outside the Monticello city limits on Highway 81.
