Keplar Dies Suddenly At Home - Mack Keplar, age 61, a former resident of Yell County, died suddenly Sunday night, April 1, 1956 at his home in North Little Rock.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Goldie Keplar and several relatives.

Atlanta Pilot Dies In Plane Crash On Mt. Magazine - Robert Keyes, 28, an Atlanta, Ga. pilot, was killed Sunday when his twin-engine plane crashed on Mt. Magazine. Keyes was flying the new plane from the Cessna factory in Wichita to the DeKalb Peachtree Airport in Atlanta. Apparently no one saw the crash. The wreckage was sighted about 5:15 p. m. by forest rangers in the Mt. Magazine fire tower. An Army search plane from Ft. Chaffee located the plane just before dark on directions from forest personnel and circled the wreckage until State Police had it located. It had crashed about one-fourth mile from the bluff near the Brown Branch recreation area. Searchers had to follow a logging road and hike about two hours before reaching the wreckage about 10 p. m. Mrs. Suzan Birtie Killmer, age 67, died May 2, 1956 at Oklahoma City after a lingering illness of Leukemia. She was born near Plainview on March 12, 1889. She had been an active member of the Primitive Baptist Church of Blanchard, Okla. for many years.
She is survived by her husband. Jesse Killmer; three sons, Waylon of Okla. City, Arnold of Corona, Cal. and Uion of Blanchard; three daughters, Mrs. Sally Rodgers of Blanchard, Mrs. Mary Bledsoe of Goodman, Mo. and Mrs. Cora Lea Caldwell of Okla. City, six sisters, Mrs. Dora Cole of Greenwood, Mrs. Phoebe Welker of Rover, Mrs. Mandie Gladden of Texarkana, Mrs. Iva Lamb of Danville and Mrs. Myrtle Ashley of Ola; one brother, Truman Light of Rover and 12 grandchildren. Mrs. Hattie Mae Kimbrough, age 68, died at the home of her daughter early Monday morning after a short illness.

Tom Kimbrough, age 69, of Chalybeate died Saturday, September 15, 1954, while on the way to a hospital in Little Rock. His son, Herman Kimbrough, and son-in-law, Dwight Bowerman, were taking him to University Hospital and said that he died just as they were getting into Little Rock

Former Danville Man Found Dead - John Knox, 50, Paris businessman and former operator of the-Western Auto Store in Danville was found dead on Magazine Mountain about 6:30 yesterday afternoon. Knox a partner in Hixon - Knox Broiler and Feed Company was last seen Tuesday morning about 10 a. m. as he left his place of business in his car. Sheriff Pete Carter and State Police joined in a hunt for Knox after he was reported missing. Harold Hixon, his partner, said Knox was apparently in good spirits when he left. The sheriff's office at Paris reported this morning the Knox had vidently taken his own life. His left wrist was slashed and he had walked and dragged himself about 50 yards from his car toward a bluff at Brown Springs on Magazine Mountain. His body was found at the edge of the bluff. The sheriff's office said financial troubles and failing heath were possible reasons for the suicide. Knox is married, has no children. Kenneth Orville Konkel, 48, of near Havana died in St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville on Friday, October 22, 1954, from a heart ailment. An employee of the Yell County Record, he was a retired newspaper man, having learned the trade in his father's newspaper in Colorado. He was a member of the Baptist Church of Havana and president of the Yell County Dairy Association.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; two sons, Sam of Plainview, Texas and John of the home; a daughter, Judy of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Lavona Rabby of Henryetta, Okla. Henry Lee Kyles, age 79, died at his home in Havana on December 30, 1952. He was born in Marion County, Arkansas and moved to Yell County in 1907. He farmed near Havana until a few years ago when he moved into Havana. He was a member of the Church of Christ and was married to Miss Laura Lee.

Four County War Dead Arrive In U. S. Four Yell County World War II dead are among the 5,442 American dead due to arrive in New York on April 1 and 2. Being returned from military cemeteries at Henry Chapel, Belgium, and Valor's and Epical, France are the bodies of Pfc. Opal M. Archer, son of Idus R. Archer of Danville, Pvt. Jeff Black, son of Mrs. Veto Black of Bluffton and Pvt. Earnest O. Rolland, son of Mrs. Loud M. Rollans, Rt. 2 Belleville. Being returned from a D-Day cemetery in Normandy is the body of Cpl. Pat H. Lassiter, Jr. husband of Edna L. Lassiter of Belleville. The information was released by the American Graves Registration Division at Memphis, where the bodies will be shipped for distribution to the homes. Mrs. Ann Lazenby, 98, of Plainview died Saturday at the Yell County Hospital in Danville. She was a Methodist and the widow of M. A. Lazenby.
She is survived by a son Homer Lazenby of Plainview; four stepsons, Alfred Lazenby of Horatio, Calvin and Gregg Lazenby of Carlsbad, N. Funeral Services for Staff Sgt. Elbert L. Lazenby were held at the Plainview Methodist Church Sunday afternoon March 27, with Rev. Luther K. Wilson in charge. Sgt. Lazenby was killed in action in Burma March 9, 1944 while serving as Radioman-Gunner on a B-17 Bomber with the U. S. Air Force.
Besides his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Lazenby of Plainview, he is survived by three brothers, E. W. of California, Bob of the Navy and Wayne of the home; and a sister Mrs. R. L. Whitten of Arkadelphia. Military rites were conducted by the Plainview and Danville American Legion Posts with Lee Elmore of Gilkey in command.

Alex Level, age 73, died Monday at his home in Plainview. A retired farmer, he was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church and a native of Illinois, having made his home in Plainview 32 years.

David Level was born, November 25, 1886, at Shonnie Town, Ill. and departed this life August 16, 1948 at the age of 61. He was converted in1920 and joined the Missionary Baptist Church at Macedonia, where he was a member until his death.

Danville Boy Killed in Elevator Accident - Don Austin Level, 18, of Danville, died in an accident at a grain elevator in Farwell, Texas on Thursday, October 16, 1958. He had left Danville previously Sunday and had only started to work at the elevator two hours before the accident happened. Two other Danville boys, Troy Lee Fowler, and Richard Morris, who were working with Austin, said that he fell head first into a chute while loading a boxcar, and that they grabbed his legs, but were unable to hold on. About 800 pounds of grain covered him in the car and he was apparently smothered to death. He was pulled from the grain in about 20 minutes, but rescuers were unable to revive him.

Edgar Level, 67, of near Danville, died in the Yell County Hospital August 5, 1958. He was a native of Illinois, but had lived near here for the past 50 years.

Mrs. Sallie Level, age 70, died February 27 in the Yell County Hospital at Danville. A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilson, she was born in Logan County and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church.

Barney Lewis died August 22, 1949 at his home in Los Angeles, Calif. He was born April 23, 1876 in Mississippi and moved to Arkansas when he was a child.
He was married to Miss Ellen Cathey of Gilkey, January 7th, 1903. To this union four children were born of which three survived, Mrs. Eula Willard, Mrs. Vada White and John Lewis all of Los Angeles. He is also survived by his wife, Ellen and three brothers, Will of Willard, Neb. Ben, Los Angeles, Calif. New Lewis, Gilkey. He and his family moved to California in March of 1937. Mrs. Ellen Cathy Lewis, age 71, died August 21, 1955 at her home in Tulsa, Okla. She was a native of Yell County and formerly lived at Plainview. She was a Baptist and the widow of Barney Lewis.

Odell Lewis, Sr. 58, of Danville, died at a Little Rock hospital after a long illness. He was a former druggist and practicing veterinarian in Danville and a veteran of World War I.

Funeral services for little Susan Ilene Lewis, who was killed by a car, was conducted at Ola Baptist Church, Sunday afternoon by Rev. Lewis Gustavus. Funeral services were held at Helena Tuesday, November 2 for 2nd Lt. James A. Light, who lost his life in an air raid over Frankfurt Germany, January 29, 1944, and who's body was returned from overseas for reburial. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Light of West Helena, formerly of Yell and Perry Counties.
He is survived by his parents; his wife, Mrs. Lovey Light of Memphis, Tenn. a brother, Watson, of West Helena; and four sisters, Mrs. Jewel Steinbeck of West Helens, Mrs. John H. Baw of Arkadelphia, Mrs. Robert King of Malvern, and Mrs. R. F. Smallman of Malone, N. Y.

John R. Light, 82, of the Gilkey Community, died February 6, 1958 at a hospital in Albuquerque, N. Mex. He was born in Louisiana and moved to Yell County at the age of six. He spent most of his life here. He had been in New Mexico the past four years. He was a Baptist and has been a farmer, sawmill worker and maintenance engineer.

Ola Man Fatally Injured In Car Accident Near Danville - Hubert L. Lipe of Ola died at the Danville Clinic Hospital Sunday, September 4th at 10:00 p. m. from injuries received in an automobile accident which occurred immediately north of Petit Jean Bridge Sunday morning about 3:15 a. m. The car, a 1949 Hudson Sedan, driven by Theo Childs of Ola, was completely demolished when it left the highway and hurtled about 50 feet down a 15 foot embankment where the Corinth roads leads off of State Highway 10. Childs, and Ralph Burfield and Argel Lee Adkins, also of Ola, the other two occupants of the car were treated for shock and minor injuries at the Danville Clinic Hospital but were dismissed immediately thereafter, but Hurbert remained in the hospital never regaining consciousness until his death.
He is survived by his father Willie E. Lipe of Ola, two brothers, Maurice of Little Rock and Glenwood of Detroit; four sisters, Mrs. Ruby Evans and Mrs. Ethozell Brigeman, both of Detroit, Mrs. Helen Mahon of Ola and Mrs. Eva Fisher of Little Rock. Word was received this morning that Theo Childs, who was released from the hospital Sunday without apparent serious injuries, later developed pains in his back and partial paralysis. Baxter Buel Lofland Jr. age 39, died in a road grader accident near his home of Gravelly on October 20, 1954. He had made a profession of faith in 1942. He was a member of Wm. J. Parks Lodge 376 F&AM at Gravelly, a certified lecturer in the Masonic Order and member of Gravelly Chapter of OES.
He is survived by his wife, Valinia; a son, Baxter Buel III, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Baxter Lofland, and a foster sister, Mrs. Abbie Sue Jones, all of Gravelly and a niece, Mrs. Euel Dean Parker of Tulsa. Gravelly Man Killed In Road Accident - Bud Lofland, about 36, of Gravelly was killed Wednesday afternoon while driving a county road grader near Gravelly. He was driving the patrol home on the north road between Bluffton and Gravelly about 3 p. m. and apparently lost control of the machine going down a hill. The patrol struck a bridge at the foot of the hill and Lofland was thrown from it and crushed under a wheel. He was killed instantly.

James R. Lofland - Rockwall and Rockwall County lost one of its most respected citizens last week when James Riley Lofland, known throughout this area as "Uncle Jim," passed away at the home of a son here, Saturday, August 12, 1950. Mr. Lofland was 92 years, 6 months and 6 days old. Mr. Lofland was born in Bluffton, Ark and was married to Sarah Frances Holiman, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by the following of his 10 children: Wallace G. Lofland of Lubbock; William T. Lofland of Austin; Lilyan Lofland Duncan of Dallas; and the following from Rockwall: Mrs. Ellen Darr, Mrs. Amanda Rochell, Hugh B. Lofland and O. D. Lofland. Seth Wilburn Lofland, aged 81, retired merchant, farmer and stockman, died at his home in Bluffton Sunday afternoon after a long illness. Mr. Lofland's father, the late Wm. S. Lofland was also a merchant in Bluffton his entire life and was a member of the Bluffton Masonic Lodge.
Survivors are his son, Homer Lofland, Bluffton; two daughters, Mrs. Buford Compton, Wing and Miss Gussie Lofland of the home; one sister, Mrs. Alice Kelley of Greenville, Texas; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Ada Lokey, who had been ill for several months, passed away Thursday a. m. April 1, 1948 at the age of 68 years, at the home of her only daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Toney.
Funeral services were conducted at the Assembly of God Church in Plainview Friday by Miss Francis Payne of Dardanelle and Rev. Ivan Marcum, pastor of the church. A very large crowd of people were in attendance. Flowers were many and beautiful. Burial was in the Ola Cemetery.

A Fort Smith, father and son drowned Tuesday morning after a boat occupied by the victims, another youth and the mother of the boys, capsized on Fourche River about ten miles south of Nimrod Lake. The dead are Levey Looper, 34 years old, and his son, Jimmy Looper, age 12.

Publisher of Weekly At Russellville Dies - Charles Lovesy, age 57, publisher of the Russellville Weekly Tribune, died at Russellville hospital Friday morning. He suffered a heart attack Wednesday night and was removed to the hospital a few minutes before his death. Mr. Lovesy was a member of the Board of Directors of the Arkansas Press Association. He was head of the Advertising Department of the Russellville Courier-Democrat for about 14 years before becoming associated with the Tribune three years ago. He was Methodist.
