Mrs. Eldora Hunnicutt, aged 82, of Gravelly died Wednesday, June 1, 1960. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
Survivors are her husband, George Hunnicutt; two daughters, Mrs. Irene Riley of Ola, Mrs. Mollicie Lemons of Gravelly; three sons, Fred Blackstock of Plainview, George Hunnicutt of Dumas, Albert Hunnicutt of Los Angeles, Calif; one brother, Rev. T. J. Wilson of Charleston; two sisters, Mrs. Ida Yates of Waldron, Mrs. Fannie Smith of Tulsa; 17 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Former Gravelly Resident Dies in Oklahoma- Jim Hunnicutt died at Warner, Okla. Thursday, September 16, 1948. He was raised at Gravelly and lived there many years. He was the brother of Mrs. J. I. Mrs. Laura J. Hunnicutt, age 96, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cecil Gwin, at Gravelly on January 17, 1955. She was born in Alabama and moved with her parents to Arkansas in 1869. She married the late J. R. Hunnicutt in 1852. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Cecil Gwin; three sons, R. L. Hunnicutt, C. E. Hunnicutt and Will Hunnicutt, and one stepson, G. M. Hunnicutt, all of Gravelly; 16 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Ben V. Hunt, age 68, a resident of Plainview and a native of Yell County, died in his home last Monday. He operated a service station in Plainview for several years and was a Methodist and a Mason.

Mrs. Drenda "Aunt Renda" Hunt passed away Monday morning, May 14, from pneumonia and other complications follow ing a serious injury resulting from a fall several days ago. Her age was reported as near 112. She leaves three children and a host of other relatives and friends.

Earl Redman Hunt, age 50, a Gravelly carpenter, died at a Little Rock hospital, May 13, 1952. He was a native of Yell County and a member of the Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Lee Douglas Hunt of Kansas; two daughters, Ruth and Sylvia Hunt of Gravelly; four brothers, Arthur and Baxter Hunt of Gravelly, Whitford Hunt of Waldron and Jess Hunt of Forester, and a grandchild. Dr. Elbert Carroll Hunt, age 92, died at Conway Memorial Hospital on May 1, 1955 after an illness of two weeks. Dr. Hunt was force to retire from active practice in 1951 due to failing eyesight and moved at that time from Ola in the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. S. Adams, in Conway. He had lived in Ola for 25 years and was mayor there for eight years. He had practiced medicine for 57 years.
He is survived by one son, Lee Hunt of Shreveport, La. two daughters, Mrs. L. S. Adams of Conway and Mrs. A. T Jobe of Celina, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Lula Burrus of Van Buren and Mrs. Dave Nichols of Ozark; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mrs. John H. Hunt, age 84, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dover Green of Plainview. She was a Methodist and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. Hunt was a native of Georgia but spent most of her life in Yell County. In addition to Mrs. Green, she is survived by two sons, Ben Hunt of Plainview and Charles Hunt of Fort Smith. Four grandsons; six great-grandsons; and one great-great grandson;

Services Held For Danville Soldier Cpl. Wyatt M. Hunt was born at Danville December 29, 1921 and was killed in Italy July 5, 1945 at the age of 24. He lived in Danville all his life and entered the Army on October 6, 1941. Cpl. Hunt received his training at Camp Gruber, Oklahoma and Ft. Sam Houston, Texas. He was shipped to Norm Africa and later to Italy. He served with the 88th Inf. Div. 5th Army. Cpl.
Hunt is survived by his widow, Mrs. Imogene Hunt and daughter, Joyce Marie Hunt, of Havana; his parents Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Hunt of Danville; three brothers, Coy of Danville, Gervase, Okla. City, Okla. and Basil in the U. S. Army; one sister, Mrs. G. S. Pence of Norman, Okla.

William Henry Hunter was born in Mississippi, November 17, 1865 and passed away in Danville, AR, August 12, 1948 at the age of 81years, 8 months and 26 days. He came to Yell county when a boy and was a resident of this county the rest of his life. He joined the Baptist Church when a young man and remained active in church work all of his life. On February 3, 1895 he was united in marriage with Sally Barger. To this union was born five children. Two children died in childhood. He was also preceded in death by Mrs. Hunter who passed away in February 1930.
He is survived by three children Mrs. Lulu Love, Dardanelle, John Hunter, Sharon Kansas and Mrs. Willie Tygart, Danville; five grandsons, Robert, Marion, Joe and Dean Hunter, William Barger Tygart and other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted at the Danville Baptist Church Friday, the Rev. John Freeman officiating, and under the direction of the Cornwell Funeral Home. Interment was in Moore's Hill Cemetery. Active pall bearers were Raymond Walden, Joe Ray, Toney, Sivley, Bill Millsap, Bob Pledger, Lewis Nelson and Thed Pickens. Mrs. Effie Pearl Edmonds Inman, age 40, died of cancer at the home of her parents at Gravelly Sunday evening. Mrs. Inman was a native of Pike County and had spent the last eight years at Popular Bluff, Mo.
Survivors include her husband, Mack Inman of Popular Bluff; one son, Lloyd Edward Gatleff of Popular Bluff; one daughter; Linda Sue of Gravelly; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Edmunds of Gravelly; three brothers, Albert Edmunds of Alpine, Ariz. Jimmy Edmunds of Horsesprings, N. Mex. And John Edmunds of Ola; two sisters, Mrs. Albert Scott and Mrs. Gertrude Riddle of Alpine, and one grandchild. Havana Man Is Killed By Freight Train - Sam Inman, 55, of Havana was killed by a west-bound freight train at Havana about 5:20 a. m. Sunday. He was seated on a rail of the track slumped over with his head resting on his arms, apparently asleep. The train's engineer, L. L. Fowler and fireman, P. E. Walter, both of North Little Rock, both saw Inman and blew their whistle as they applied the brakes, but said that Inman did not move. The freight had four engines and was pulling a lead over a mile long and could not be stopped in time. Inman, who worked in a pool hall at Danville, had not been home after getting off work and no one could be located who had seen him after 1 a. m. His car was parked behind a service station in Havana.
He is survived by his wife, Johnnie Mae; a son Sam Jr. of the U. S. Air Force in Virginia; three brothers, Andy of Havana, Arch of Haskell, Okla. and Bertie of Texas; and on sister Mrs. Rosie Shaw of Chicago. Mrs. Susan Inman, wife of John J. Inman, deceased, was a mother of 13 children - 11 boys and two girls. The survivors are Charley, Sam and Andy of Havana, Mrs. Rosa Shaw of Illinois, Bert of Texas and Arch of Oklahoma; 17 grand children and 13 great grandchildren. After several days illness, she passed away quietly Friday night, May 19, 1950.

Cecil Ernest Ives was born November 16, 1899 and died July 23, 1955. He lived in the Spring Creek community from 1912 to 1943 and was a member of the Church of Christ.

Mrs. Rufus F. Ives, age 75, died in her home in Belleville, Thursday, May 4, 1950 after a long illness. She lived in Yell County for many years. She and the late Mr. Ives moved to Belleville in November of 1946. Since Mr. Ives death, her eldest son and his wife have lived with her.

Mrs. Ivey was a lifelong resident of Danville. She was born October 24, 1887, was married to Wallace Ivey in 1908 and to this union was born six children, three of whom are deceased.

Fredrick Jackson was born in 1879 and died at his home in Quinton, Okla. September 14, 1959. He was a former Yell Countain. He had been in ill health the past several months.

Service held For Lt. J. O. Jackson - Lieutenant Jewell Orvell Jackson, son of H. D. and Nannie L. Jackson of Havana, was born in Havana, June 30th, 1913 and was killed in action on Okinawa may 23, 1945 at the age of 31 years. He was raised and schooled at Havana and Waveland, except the last four years of his high schooling which were at Morringsport, La. He enlisted as a private in Company "F" 184th Infantry of the U. S. Army at San Mateo, California in 1941, was soon promoted to Staff Sergeant and spent the next two years training soldiers for service in the rapidly spreading conflict. He was then sent to Ft. Benning, Georgia to an Officers Training School, where he rapidly made all grades and was sent across to rejoin his Company, which had preceded him to the Central Pacific area. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Besides his parents, surviving him are four brothers, W. D. Jackson of Fort Smith; R. M. Jackson, Pontiac, Mich., Fields Jackson, Okinawa; Martin Jackson, Pontiac, Mich.; three sisters, Mrs. Beulah Adkison, Blanchard, La., Mrs. Zula Kyles and Mrs. Ruby Purser, Tulsa, Okla. Third Man to Drown At Lake Within A Month... Samuel Andrew Jackson, age 56, was drowned at Lake Nimrod about 9 a.m. Sunday. Jackson became separated from three other members of a fishing party, and was fishing from the bank at the mouth of Porter Creek, which runs into the lake near Plainview. When his friend missed him a search was made the body was recovered from 11 feet of water near the bank. He is believed to have stumbled and fallen in the creek. Local Man and Companion Killed by Falling Boom -- Doyle Luker, of Little Rock formerly of Plainview and Sidney James Jr., North Little Rock were killed Tuesday afternoon when a boom of a crane fell and crushed them.
Luker was a veteran of World War II, serving as an aviation ordinance man in the Pacific. He entered the service in May 1940 and received his discharge in May 1946, having earned 13 battle stars in the Pacific. Luker's only brother was killed in the Pearl Harbor attach. William Thomas James, who formerly lived for many years in the Piney neighborhood; but for the past few years at Bauxite, passed away there on October 16th, 1948 and was buried at the Piney Cemetery Sunday evening, October 17th, in the presence of many of his old friends and relatives. He was 76 years old. He had raised his family at Piney, having married and lived there the greater part of his life.

Walter E. Jetton, age 42, of Fort Smith died Saturday at a Fort Smith hospital. He was a former resident of Chickalah and was a Freewill Baptist.

Ola Physician Dies After Heart Attack - Dr. G. M. Jgestvang, 63, of Norwegian descent, who was born and reared in Chicago, died of a heart attack in his home at Ola early Wednesday. For the past six years, he had maintained an office in the Cook Drug Store. He was an eclectic physician and eye specialist. He came from Fort Smith after having practiced in Little Rock; for 25 years. He served in the Army during World War II.

Malissia Johnson, age 52, wife of Melvin Johnson of Hollis, died Sunday at a Morrilton hospital after a long illness. She was the daughter of Uriah and Frankie Baker. She was a lifelong resident of Perry County and a Baptist.

Oscar Howard Johnson, 76, of Oswalt, Okla. died on April 15, 1960. He was a native of Mississippi and had lived in Oswalt for many years. He was married to Miss Susie Roach in May, 1913 at Havana, who preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 21, 1958 in the First Baptist Church at Seminole, Okla. for Thedia Ann Joiner, 73, wife of R. L. (Sam) Joiner of Seminole, formerly of Belleville and Havana. Mrs. Joiner died July 19 in the municipal hospital at Seminole after a lingering illness.
Survivors beside the husband are three sons, W. L. (Bill) of Albin, Wyo. Raymond of Seminole, and J. D. (Delbert) of Denison, Texas; four daughters, Ruby Robertson of Booneville, Elsie Moore of Seminole, Ann Looney of Lawton, Okla. and Bernice Webb of Shawnee, Okla. one brother, L. M. Sugg of Memphis; one sister, Mrs. Jeff Dooley of Belleville; 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mrs. Joiner was a daughter of the late John S. Sugg.

City, who died late Thursday, January 5, 1955, at Wesley Hospital following an illness of several years were held Saturday, January 8. Mrs. Jones was born in Waveland, Yell County and moved to Oklahoma in 1941 from Fayetteville. She worked as a private duty nurse and was a member of Crown Heights Baptist Church.

Henry Clester (Buck) Jones, age 53, of Dumas died at Booneville on June 10, 1954. He was born at Gravelly and lived there until 1946, when he moved to Dumas. He was married to Miss Velma Kitchens in 1923. He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two sons, Rev. Charley Jones and Donal Ray Jones, both of Dumas; five daughters, Mrs. Thelma Lee Morin of Caribou, Maine, Mrs. Bertha Fay McCuin, Mrs. Thula Mae Nickolson, Mrs. Wanda Ann Cotrell and Miss Mary Jones, all of Dumas; 13 grandchildren, five brothers and two sisters. J. O. Jones was born in Sherman, Texas March 10th, 1877 and died July 19, 1950 at the age of 77 years. He had been surveyor of Yell county for years before moving to Little Rock where he was County surveyor of Pulaski County for years and was candidate for reelection in August 8 primary. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church at his death, a member of Trinity Masonic Lodge and past Grand Patron of order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Rose Jones, a son, J. O, Jr. of Falfurrie, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. Merrial Quinn, Shreveport, La., Mrs. William Boles, Little Rock; two brothers, J. H. Jones, Cleveland, Ohio and Paul E. Jones of New York city, N. Y.; three sisters, Mrs. Francis Sharrock, Conway, Mrs. Grace Speights, Ola, Rt. L. and three grandchildren.

Sidney Buford Jones - Sidney Buford Jones, 73, died at his home in Gravelly April 5, 1954. He was born at South Fourche and his parents moved to Gravelly when he was two months old, where he spent the remainder of his life. He had been a member of the Mulberry Free Will Baptist Church for 50 years. He was married to Jessie Poda in 1899.
Mrs. Jones and three of their children precede him in death.
He is survived by two daughters, Virlon Jones and Mrs. Estelle Rubenstein, both of Kansas City, Mo. six sons, Clester of Dumas, Ira and Oragel of Gravelly, Phinous of Kansas City Doyle of Wrightstown, N. William Harold Jones died September 14, 1949 in Houston, Texas. He was born and raised in Yell County and lived in the Mount Carmel community he served in World War I and after the war went to work for the Missouri-Pacific rail road and was a conductor at his death.

Dardanelle Boy Dies of Leukemia - Danny Keenan, age 6, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Keenan, died Monday in Boston, Mass. Danny has been in Boston for several weeks taking treatment for leukemia.

Two men Killed In Car-School Bus Collision Near Here - Two men were killed and several children injured Tuesday when a car and school bus collided head-on about 1 1/2 miles west of Danville on Highway 80. The accident happened about 3:30 p. m. C. M. Haston, 70 and Quenton Keith, 25, both of Waltreak, were dead upon arrival at the Yell County Hospital.
School children admitted to the hospital were Joan Tidwell, 7 Clinton Kimbrough, 7; Rickey Wilson, 10 Billy Donnell, 11; Betty Bowerman, 15; and Betty Pruitt, 15. All were released after treatment for facial cuts and bruises. Raymond Pruitt, driver of the school bus, was treated for cuts and bruises and released.
Pruitt said the car, driven by Keith, was in the middle of the road when he saw it and that it swerved into his path, although he pulled over to the ditch trying to avoid the collision. State Trooper Bob Pritchard, who investigated the wreck credited Pruitt's driving with saving the 30 children on the bus from serious injury or death. The bus traveled 66 feet after the impact, stopping in the ditch but without turning over. The car was knocked 33 feet backwards by the impact and was a total loss. Lear Barton Kemp, age 70, a retired merchant of Russellville, died Tuesday at a Russellville hospital. He had suffered from cancer and heart trouble for the past several months. He had lived at Leslie before moving to Russellville 35 years ago and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
