Mrs. Martha Pitt Gaydon, age 83 a resident of Birta for over 80 years, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Albert Carson, of Birta Saturday night. Mrs. Gaydon was the widow of J. A. Gaydon and member of the Baptist Church.

Miss Myrtle Geiger, age 67, of the Shark community, died at St. Vincent's Hospital September 3. She had lived in Yell County practically all of her life and was a member of the Waltreak Methodist Church.

Finos J. George, 65 year old attorney from Beggs, Okla. Son of the late Mr. And Mrs. Tom George of the Alpha community, died with a heart attack Tuesday at his home.
He is survived by his widow; two brothers, Nelson of Danville and Sam of Dardanelle; four Sisters, Mrs. Elmer Warren of Dardanelle, Mrs. Harvey Nichols of Clarksville, Mrs. Clifford Hunt of McAlester, Okla. and Mrs. Ada Hale of St Jo, La.

Birta Boy Killed As Tractor Overturns - Flavel George, age 15, a student in Ola High School, was killed near his home at Birta Saturday when the tractor he was driving overturned and pinned him beneath it. George was pulling logs to help rebuild his grandfather's house which was destroyed by fire last Wednesday. As he crossed a gulley, a log he was pulling caught in the ground and the tractor was pulled over backwards.

Jack Robertson George, age 36, native of Colgate, Okla. and a resident of Casa, died at his home early Friday afternoon. He was a son of Nick W. and Cora Robertson George, and had lived at Casa most of his life. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors, other than his parents, are two brothers, Cecil Doyle George of Little Rock and Chester Boyd George of Casa; four sisters, Mrs. Lavada Harkey of England, Mrs. Golda Hill, Mrs. Dimple Fink, and Mrs. Lenes Wise of Casa and a number of nieces and nephews. James Nelson George, age 82, prominent farmer and stockman of the Mt. George community, near Dardanelle died early Monday morning. Mr. George was a native or Yell County, and made his home there his entire life. He was a member of the Mt. George Church of Christ. Ola Resident Fatally Wounded -- Lee George, about 33, formerly a resident of Ola, and a star athlete of OHS, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert George of Tyler, Texas, was found dead on the highway near his home in Tyler, July 6. He had received three bullet wounds, probably inflicted a day or two before he was found. The cause for the shooting is unknown at present. The George family moved to Texas about 15 years ago. Truck Wreck Is Fatal To Tommy George - Tommy Lee George, 16, of Danville died at a Magnolia Hospital Saturday night of a broken neck and multiple fractures of the skull suffered in a truck accident Saturday morning. The accident occurred about10 miles east of Magnolia on Highway 82. Tommy, who was visiting his brother at Emerson, was with other boys in a pickup truck returning from hauling pulpwood. They were crossing a bridge when a plank flew up and hit the front of the truck, knocking it off the bridge. The three boys riding in the back with Tommy were not injured. Wade F. George, age 55, of Holdenville, Okla. died at his home last Thursday night. He was born near Danville in Yell County. He was a member of the Welfare Department of Hughes County, Okla.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Gladys Wright George of Holdenville; a daughter of Denison, Tex. two sons, Doyle George of Holdenville and Billy George, stationed at Camp Polk, La. with the Army; a brother, Ervin George of Little Rock, and three sisters, Mrs. Mary McGugan and Mrs. Sallie Haney of Holdenville and Mrs. Ida Miller of Casmelia, Calif. Over 42 years of service as country doctor ended for Dr. A. D. Gillum, 68, of Belleville, Tuesday afternoon. Dr. Gillum died at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville following a short illness.
Dr. Gillum was one of the few doctors who return from medical school to practice at home. He was a member of a pioneer Yell County family. His father, J. W. Gillum, was one of the early settlers in the Carden Bottom area and moved to Wing 52 years ago. Dr. Gillum was a member of the second 4-year graduating class in medicine at the University of Arkansas and began his medical practice in Yell County. He spent 23 years at Rover, Blue Ball and Ola, 10 years as a CCC medical director and the past nine years at Belleville. Mrs. Rosalie Gillum, 75, died at her home in Durant, Okla. on January 3 after a short illness. She was born at Wing and had lived most of her life in Yell County before moving to Durant ten years ago. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

John Gladden, 85, formerly a resident of Yell County died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Willie Belcher at Talco, Texas on September 2, 1954. At the time of his death Mr. Gladden was making his home with his daughter, Mrs. G. D. Brewer, in Konawa, Okla.

Body of Former Resident Returned. Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Gladden of Texarkana, Ark. That the body of their son, Pfc. Luther Gladden, is enroute to the United States for re-burial.
Pfc. Gladden was born at Rover, Yell County, on November 13, 1923. He attended high school at Texarkana. He entered the Marine Corps in 1943, received training at Camp Elliott, Calif., and served in the Pacific theatre. He was wounded on November 22, 1943 during the battle for Tarawa and was killed in action on June 17, 1944 at Siapan. Mrs. Mary Holly Gooch, age 58, died at her home in the Lone Pine community Saturday, August 12, 1950. She was born at Quitman, in 1892 and was married to George Calvin Gooch at Perry on July 2, 1905. Mr. and Mrs. Gooch moved to Yell County soon after their marriage. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Mrs. F. M. Goodbar, of North Little Rock, age 83, died at a Russellville hospital, May 10, 1950. She was born at Crockets Bluff, Ark. daughter of W. N. and Francis Jelks Bradford.

John O. Goodier, age 78, retired tinner, died at his home in Dardanelle Friday. He was a native of Dardanelle, and a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Goodier, early settlers of Dardanelle.

Friday, May 13th, the Rev. Thorpe Lee, Perry, conducted the funeral services of Milas J. Goodson in the Baptist Church at Birta. Interment in the Mason Cemetery. Pall bearers were Harry McCoy, Jim McGhee, Arch Robinson, Harold Jones, Henry Wilson and Rev. Ivan Marcum.
Milas Goodson died May 10, 1949 at the age of seventy years. He was married to Miss Effie Thorpe in 1905, and to this union were born five daughters Mrs. Glennie Eldridge, Birta, Mrs. Syble Storment, Detroit, Mich. Mrs. Pauline Franklin Little Rock, Mrs. Mary Lou Howard. Little Rock, and Mrs. Treva Dell hacker, El Centro, Calif.; his brother's are Otis, Booneville, Amos and John of Paris, Lee of Corley and Ovas, Little Rock; fourteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Lavina Myrtle Greer - Funeral services were held Monday, January 23, in Eudaly Mortuary, Orange, Calif, for Mrs. Lavina Greer, 76, who died January 21, 1954 in Orange County General Hospital after a brief illness. Theo Lawrence Guinn, aged 46, was killed on June 12, 1958 when struck by lightning at Fort Pierce, S. Dakota, where he was working. He was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church and a former resident of Belleville.

Magazine Woman Found Dead At Blue Mountain Lake-The body of Mrs. Eva Guise, 51-year-old widow, of Magazine was found floating below Blue Mountain Dam last Friday afternoon. Deputy Prosecutor C. R. George said that no evidence of foul play had been found and that an investigation by himself, Sheriff Earl Ladd and state police had been completed. Engineers noticed Mrs. Guise's car at the north end of the road across the dam and noticed what appeared to be blood on rocks near the dam when they read gauges last Friday morning. They called state police around noon. Officers found a woman's footprints around a bluff and said that Mrs. Guise evidently jumped or fell about 60 feet to a pile of shale and rock. A trail of blood led from there to the spillway about 25 feet. Mrs. Guise's body was sent to Little Rock for an autopsy, by Mr. George said that a complete report had not been received to date. Henry Hames, age 88 years, died at his home near Ranger March 17, 1948. He had joined the Ranger Methodist church in 1905. He was married to Roena Lane, who only lived one year after their marriage.
He is survived by one brother, Dan Hames, one sister, Miss Mattie Hames, and two nieces and three nephews.

Mrs. Roy Hames, 43, died at her home at Alpha, October 1, 1952 after several months illness. She was a native of Ola and had lived in Yell County all of her life.

Services Held for Pfc. Tommie Hames.. Body of Pfc. Tommie Hames, who was killed in the Invasion of eastern France, March 18, 1945, arrived in Danville Tuesday morning, December 7, and funeral services were conducted at the Macedonia Church at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon by Bro. Landers of Little Rock. Military honors were by the Danville American Legion Post and his body was laid to rest in die Macedonia Cemetery.
Private Hames was born October 28, 1909, near Danville where hespent his entire life before entering the army, May 22, 1944. He received his training at Camp Robinson and was sent overseas November12, 1944.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Vina Hames; two daughters, Wanda Lou and Jimmie Nell of Macedonia; his mother, Mrs. Eura Hames of Danville; two sisters, Mrs. Eulene Lowery of Dumas and Mrs. Nevil Adair of Blytheville; three brothers, Harold of Dumas, Rupard and Claude of Stockton, California. Booneville Editor Dies Of Heart Attack - Lester "Buddy" Hampton, 46, editor of the Booneville Democrat, died Sunday night at his home after suffering a heart attack. Mr. Hampton was a graduate of the College of the Ozarks and served as Logan County Clerk for six years, 1941-1947, before he became a partner with his father, Max Hampton, in the Booneville newspaper.

Joe Henry Harkey, age 43, died in a Long Beach, Calif. hospital on November 1, 1958, after a long illness. He was a resident of Yell County, near Belleville, until moving to California four years ago. He was a member of the Baptist Church and had been employed at the Harvey Machine Co. for the past three years.

Former Resident Found Dead Near Aplin -- The body of Rosco Harkey, 77, retired banker who had been missing from his home at Little Rock since August 17, was found Saturday in a wooded area near Aplin in Perry County. He had apparently suffered a heart attack after his car became stuck on a logging road. Harkey was a former president of the Bank of Dardanelle.

John C. Harris was born in 1865 in Illinois and died at the home of his son, Leonard C. Harris, near Danville Saturday, September 30, 1950. He was a veteran of the Spanish American War.
He is survived by his son, Leonard, of the home and one grandchild also of the home and two brothers, Homer and Jesse, of Illinois.

Mrs. Clement Harris, age 59, a resident of Fairfax, Okla, since 1935 passed away Friday, March 21, 1958 at Fairfax Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Church of God. Mrs. Harris was born at Havana. December 23, 1898, the daughter of Ed and Molly Slay. She was united in marriage to Clement Harris December 27, 1916, at Havana and the couple made them home at Riley where they lived until December 1935 when they moved to Fairfax. The couple farmed by in Arkansas and in Oklahoma.
Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her first child, a daughter, Edith.
Immediate family survivors include her husband, Clement Harris of the home; one son, Merdith Harris of Fairfax; two daughters, Willie Armstrong and Verna Roberson of Fairfax; and four grandchildren. Also her father, Ed Slay, step mother, Buelah Slay and sister, Fannie Slay, of Havana; sister, Vada Thompson and brother Edward Slay of Bogalusa, La,; sister, Clemmie Brantley, Chickasha, Okla.; sister, Marie Hood, and brother, Norman Slay, of Mountain View. Mrs. Dora Harrison was born September 24, 1877 at Dublin. She has been a member of the Presbyterian Church since 1910. She was married to Math Harrison.

Two men Killed In Car-School Bus Collision Near Here - Two men were killed and several children injured Tuesday when a car and school bus collided head-on about 1 1/2 miles west of Danville on Highway 80. The accident happened about 3:30 p. m. C. M. Haston, 70 and Quenton Keith, 25, both of Waltreak, were dead upon arrival at the Yell County Hospital.
School children admitted to the hospital were Joan Tidwell, 7 Clinton Kimbrough, 7; Rickey Wilson, 10 Billy Donnell, 11; Betty Bowerman, 15; and Betty Pruitt, 15. All were released after treatment for facial cuts and bruises. Raymond Pruitt, driver of the school bus, was treated for cuts and bruises and released.
Pruitt said the car, driven by Keith, was in the middle of the road when he saw it and that it swerved into his path, although he pulled over to the ditch trying to avoid the collision. State Trooper Bob Pritchard, who investigated the wreck credited Pruitt's driving with saving the 30 children on the bus from serious injury or death. The bus traveled 66 feet after the impact, stopping in the ditch but without turning over. The car was knocked 33 feet backwards by the impact and was a total loss.
