Mrs. Lillian Gertrude Bell, age 51, died October 6, 1956 in Mountain View. Calif.

Her survivors include her husband, Evin Bell; six children, James Bell of Antonia, Colo., Duil Bell of England, Ark., Lucille James of Sacramento, Calif, Bonnie Bryant of Tulsa, Okla., Gladys Mewton of Mountain View, Calif. and Bobby Bell of the home; two brothers, Hoyt and Coy Hood of Mountain View and eight grandchildren. Bell, Seroh A.

Mrs. Seroh A. Bell passed away at her home at Havana, April 6, 1948, at the age of 72. Mrs. Bell was a member of the Assembly of God Church at Havana.

Funeral services were conducted at Moore s Chapel by Rev. Jean Lucy and Rev. R. R. Whittington of Havana.

She is survived by her husband, R. B. Bell, three sons, Leslee, Weslie and Ervin Bell of Danville; six daughters, Mrs. Vila Earls of Havana, Mrs. Lila Mo ward of Porterville, California, Mrs. Ila Moore of Havana, Mrs. Ommie Swaim of Danville, Mrs. Hattie Parson of Ferndale, Mrs. Vinnie Combs of Stockton, California.

Paul bearers were Raymond Owens, Opal Beason, Winfred Owens and Joe Apple. Flower girls were Mary Hankins, Barber Sue Beason, Nina Lue Owens, Lorene Barnett, Mildred Davis, Betty Moore and Billie Sue Burce. Cornwell funeral Home was in charge. Bench, Jimmie H.

Jimmie H. Bench of Plainview, age 42 years, died August 27, 1948 in the Veterans Hospital at Little Rock. Mr. Bench served several months with the armed forces during World War II. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife, Mrs. Faye Bench; one daughter, Melba Jean Bench of Plainview; his mother, Mrs. Lizzie Bench of Ola Route 1; three sisters Mrs. Ada Owens of Texas; Mrs. Bert Marks, of Searcy; and Mrs. Ralph Jones of Ola, Route 1; and one brother, Everett Bench of Watson and a host of their relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Assembly of God Church by the Rev. Ivan Marcum of Birta, assisted by Misses Francis Payne of Dardanelle and Vivian Higgins of Tulsa, Okla. Mr. Bench was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Interment was in Salem Cemetery near Plainview. Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bench, aged 81, of Ola died October 20, 1954 at a hospital at Little Rock. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Mrs. Ruth Benefield, age 37, of Long Beach, Calif., died March 5, 1952 at her home. She was born in Havana. She was a member of Burno Memorial Methodist Church.

Bennett, Charles W., Dr.

Dentist From Fort Smith Drowns As Boat Capsizes At Nimrod - Dr. Charles W. Bennett, age 40, Fort Smith dentist drowned about 3 a.m. Tuesday when the boat in which he was fishing capsized on Lake Nimrod, near the Joe Bartlett landing. His body was discovered about 125 feet off shore in deep water at 11:30 a.m. A group of 40 men in approximately 15 boats tied together dragged the area where the tragedy occurred with grappling hooks until finding the body. Bergman, Louis E.

Louis E. Bergman, age 75, well known retired farmer of Plainview, died in his home Saturday night. A native of Illinois, he was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Surviving relatives include a brother, William Bergman, living in Oklahoma and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Lucy Mae Bird was born near Atkins, Pope County, November 11, 1879 and departed this life December 21st, 1947, being 68 years of age. She was married to James B. Bird in January 1913.

She was preceded in death by her husband several years.

Four County War Dead Arrive In U. S. Four Yell County World War II dead are among the 5,442 American dead due to arrive in New York on April 1 and 2. Being returned from military cemeteries at Henry Chapel, Belgium, and Valor's and Epical, France are the bodies of Pfc. Opal M. Archer, son of Idus R. Archer of Danville, Pvt. Jeff Black, son of Mrs. Veto Black of Bluffton and Pvt. Earnest O. Rolland, son of Mrs. Loud M. Rollans, Rt. 2 Belleville. Being returned from a D-Day cemetery in Normandy is the body of Cpl. Pat H. Lassiter, Jr. husband of Edna L. Lassiter of Belleville. The information was released by the American Graves Registration Division at Memphis, where the bodies will be shipped for distribution to the homes. Black, Jeff

Funeral Services for Pvt. Jeff Black - A military funeral was held Tuesday at Young Gravelly for Pvt. Jeff Black of Bluffton, whose body was returned from the Epinal Cemetery in France for burial. Rev. George Findly of Havana conducted the services, with the Danville American Legion in charge of military rites.

Pvt. Black was born June 18, 1921 and married Veotta Barclay on June 29, 1939. He entered the service in 1944 and was killed while manning a machine gun in East France on January 21, 1945.

Blackman, John Marshall

Dr. John Marshall Blackman was born in Harrisburg, Illinois on May 1, 1868. When he was about 21 years of age, he moved to Uniontown, Kansas, where for many years ne was station agent and telegrapher for the Missouri-Pacific railroad. In 1894, he was married to Etta Kane and to this union there were born three children. After the death of his first wife in 1913 he moved to Danville, Arkansas. In 1914, he married Etta Ozment, in Harrisburg, Illinois. From many years he engaged in the practice of veterinary medicine. He passed away on March 13, 1948, as a result of cerebral hemorrhage, at the age of 79 years.

Mr. Blackman is survived by his widow, a son, John Blackman of Dothan, Alabama and two daughters, Mrs. S. A. Reed, of Lawton, Oklahoma and Mrs. C. H. Valega, of Oklahoma City and seven grandchildren. Blackman, Mrs. J. M.

Mrs. J. M. Blackman, age 78 years, was found dead Monday morning at her home in Danville by David Yates, whose family occupies a part of the residence.

A coroner's jury met at about 10 a. m. Monday and returned a verdict of "Death due to natural causes", Dr. C. H. Dotson of Danville said that Mrs. Blackman had died about midnight of a heart attack.

She is survived by a brother, Charles J. Ozment, of St. Louis; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Mary Veloza of Oklahoma City and Mrs. R. A. Reed of Lawton, Okla.; a stepson, John Blackman of Dothan, Alabama. Bledsaw, Earnest

Waveland Man Victim of Car Accident - Earnest Bledsaw, 34, of near Waveland was killed Thursday night when a car in which he was riding wrecked near Lake Nimrod. The accident occurred about 11 p. m. on Highway 7 three miles west of the Nimrod Dam. Bledsaw, was thrown from the car and was pinned under it when it overturned. Argus Fisher, driver of the car, and Tony Yancy, another passenger, both of Magazine, escaped injury. Sheriff Ladd, who investigated the accident, said that no charges had been filed.

Funeral services for Ernest Bledsaw were conducted by Rev. Willard Yandell at Moore's Chapel Monday afternoon.

He is survival by his wife, Ruby, and son, Jerry, Cedar Creek West; mother, Mrs. Mary Weldon, Sacramento, Calif.; three brothers, Jack, Porterville, Calif., George, Missouri and Everett, Cedar Creek West; a sister, Mrs. Maurine Trimms, Benton, Ark.; a half brother, J. Boatner, Agnes Irving

Mrs. Agnes Irving Boatner - widow of Jefferson Boatner, and member of an early Morrilton family, died at the Danville hospital Sunday. A native of Dumfries, Scotland, she came to Morrilton with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Irving, in 1881. She resided in Port Arthur, Texas for more than fifty years and came to Danville in June to be with her niece, Mrs. W. C. Landers.

Mrs. Ada Bowden, age 63, of Belleville died Nov. 28th in a Little Rock hospital, after an illness of several weeks.

Clomer Lee Bowden, age 65 years, died suddenly in a Booneville Hospital, August 19, 1948.

He had been a resident of Belleville for many years and is survived by two daughters, Ann of Little Rock and Mrs. E. L. Smith of Danville; two sisters, Mrs. Sue Harkness, Belleville; Mrs. Nellie Harkness of Little Rock; six brothers, Fred, Homer and Bud of Belleville; Truman of Little Rock, Jess of Mena and Lawrence, Texarkana, TX.

Walter John Boyce, age 55; of Danville died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Jack Walker of Belleville Rt. Monday, February 22, 1960. Walter G. Brasher, 75, Little Rock died Saturday in a Little Rock nursing home. He was a retired insurance agent and former county clerk of Yell County. Mr. Brasher was a member of the 2 Baptist church, Little Rock. He was a native of Dardanelle and had lived in Little Rock for 30 years.

John Smith Breashears was born October 19, 1884 at Plainview and died in a Little Rock hospital on April 10, 1948 at the age of 63 years.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ola Brown Breashears, six sons, Ned Breashears, Belleville, Ted of Upland, California, Euell of El Paso, Texas, Hays and Billie of Dardanelle and Le Roy of Russellville; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond Lewis, Summer, Nebr., Mrs. Joe Hunt of Los Angeles, Calif. and Mrs. Homer Lee Lofland of Bluffton and seven grand children. He has been a consecrated Christian and member of the Rover Baptist Church for many years.

Briggs, J. B. - Stricken With Polio

J. B. Briggs Is Stricken With Polio - J. B. Briggs, Danville resident and former Yell County Circuit Clerk, was stricken with polio last week and is now a patient at St Vincent's Hospital in Little Rock. Briggs was taken to the hospital in Little Rock last Wednesday paralyzed from the waist down. Doctors at first believed that a rupture disk was causing the paralysis, but Saturday when his breathing became difficult and his temperature continued to rise, it was definitely established as polio. Briggs passed the crisis early Sunday morning after he had temporarily been placed in an iron lung. His fever broke and breathing became easier after that time. The exact extent of the paralysis will not be known for several days, but he is not paralyzed above the waist. Briggs, who is now an employee of the Arkansas Power & Light Co. was Yell County Chairman of the March of Dimes drive for polio for three years. Briggs, Levi L.

Levi L. Briggs of Carlsbad, New Mexico, formerly of Briggsville, died at his home in Carlsbad at 1:00 a. m. Saturday, June 17, 1950 at the age of 77 years. His wife, who was Belle Compton before their marriage in 1902, preceded him in death in 1921.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Lee Gray of Phoenix, Arizona and Mrs. Bob Calvani of Carlsbad; six sons, R. D., Buford, Compton, Hence, Harry Lee and Pat, all of Carlsbad.

He was a member of one of the oldest pioneer families of Yell County and a former sheriff of this county.
