Everett Smith was born in a small town in Yell County. At the age of 17 years he moved to Hot Springs. His father was a carpenter, but he elected a different career path. He enlisted in the National Guard and became a mess sergeant.

He enjoyed cooking and in 1951 decided to look for a job as a short-order cook. A visit to a local employment agency failed to find an opening for a cook. He opted for the only job opening listed that day an opening at Caruth Funeral Home for an ambulance driver. At 20 years of age that would prove to be a launching pad for his career. He started making ambulance calls, working funeral and general housekeeping duties, along with taking special care of the black Henney-Packard hearses.

In the late 1950s he began working for Davis Funeral Home in Glenwood. He commuted for several years, but in 1963 he moved to Glenwood with his wife, Ruth, and children. For the next 20 years he was full-time director and embalmer with the firm. As the firm grew, another person was needed. Smith's son, Tony, came back to work with his father in 1983. Tony's wife, Ladonna, also went to work there and served her internship for her funeral directors license. Upon the retirement of Marlin Louise Davis in 1989, Smith purchased the funeral home which has continued to expand under his ownership. (Submitted by: Patsy Gatliff, -/-/?)

LaRay Lee Tidmore was born on December 17, 1967 in Idabel, the son of Jimmy Lee Tidmore and Carol White. LaRay grew up in the Forest Grove Community where he attended Elementary school. He had many ups and downs in life but had completely turned his life around. He learned a trade in welding and worked in construction. He was living and working in Hereford, Texas at the time of his death.

He was a very big hearted person who tried to help many of his friends and family. He never met a stranger and was a very hard worker. He truly loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Not a day went by that he would not call and talk to his mother. He would always tell her that he loved her and to take care of herself.

He worked as a truck driver in his twenties and during that time he fathered two children and just lately married a very wonderful lady. On Thursday morning, February 22, 2007, an angel came down from heaven to take him to his eternal resting place.

Preceding him in death were his brother, Jimmy Dwain Tidmore in 1994, nephew, Coty Dwain Tidmore in 2005, and grandparents, A. S. Tidmore in 1994 and Juanita Tidmore in 1996, and Mary Nell Jamison in 2005.
