Smith, Wilburn V.

Wilburn V. Smith, 88, of Conway, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, February 8, 2011. He was born September 24, 1922 in Perry, to the late Verne Smith and Omie Raney Smith. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Men's Fellowship Bible Class and a Mason. He was a machinist working in Detroit at the Chrysler Tank Plant before entering the Navy during W.W. II, graduated from Arkansas State Teachers College and received his masters from the University of Arkansas. He taught math for the Conway Public School District, was principal at Conway Junior High, was business manager for Hendrix and was co-owner of Bumpers and Smith Clothing Store.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Smith.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Virginia Harger Smith of Conway; sisters, Grace MacLean of Conway and Betty Anne Campbell of N. Little Rock; brother Jimmie F. Smith of Conway.

Funeral services were Saturday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Dale Wicker officiating. Entombment was in Crestlawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Mark Campbell, Andy Campbell, Barry Sims, Brian Smith, James Harger, Christopher Patterson. Honorary pallbearers were the Men's Fellowship Bible Class at First Baptist Church. Smith, William Mathis

William Mathis Smith born September 24, 1864, near Havana, Arkansas and departed this life January 26, 1949 at Okla. City, Okla. He lived near Havana all his life until 12 years ago, when he moved to Oklahoma. He was married to Miss Annie Carter in October 1888 and to the union 11 children were born, 10 still surviving.

Besides his wife he leaves five sons, Arthur, Los Angeles, CA; Oval, Grady, Luther and Jack of Okla. City; five daughters, Mrs. Claude McBride, Havana, Mrs. Carl Frazier, Sand Springs, Okla., Mrs. Earl Nolen, Beaumont, Calif. Mrs. Fran Burton, Corona, Calif. and Mr. Glen Cole, Riverside, California; 20 grand children and 15 great grandchildren and two brothers. Smith, Zelma Shepherd

Mrs. Zelma Shepherd Smith, age 78, of Dardanelle, AR, widow of Aubry Smith, died Friday, January 31, 1997 at the Dardanelle Hospital. She was born April 29, 1918 in Dardanelle, AR to the late Z. T. and Tishie Tilmon Shepherd. She was a housewife, mother and a member of the Grace Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Aubry Shepherd, Rodney Shepherd and Tilmon Shepherd; two sisters, Thelma Moore and Lucille George and a half sister, Ruby Sanders.

Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Patsy Love Smith and Phyllis and Calvin Chronister all of Dardanelle; two sisters, Gladys Mashburn of Dardanelle and Virginia Roberts of Little Rock and a grandson, Clinton Chronister of Russellville.

Service was February 3, 1997 at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with the Rev. Mike Ball and Rev. Roger Pearce. Interment was in Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle. Smithey, Eva L.T. Tolleson

Eva L.T. Tolleson Smithey of Hot Springs died Sunday, September 4, 2005 in a local hospital. She was born at Rover to James David and Anna Ellen Keith Tolleson. She was Baptist, member of Sarah Rebeckah Lodge II, Friends of the Library, AARP and Federated Republican Women's Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter David Smithey two sisters, Mae and Vida Tolleson and four brothers, Ralph Tolleson, Alvin Tolleson, Quinton Tolleson, and Ted Tolleson.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Smoluch, Edward "Eddy" Mike

Edward "Eddy" Mike Smoluch, age 77, of Belleville, AR died Friday, July 4, 1997 at Dardanelle Nursing Center in Dardanelle, AR. He was born in Harvey, Illinois, January 20, 1920 son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Smoluch. He was a retired farmer and an Army Veteran.

Survivors include two sisters, Jennie Maida of Fort Smith, AR and Anna Dickey of Mt. Ida, AR; two brothers, Fred Jakim and Walter Schmick of Illinois and several nephews and nieces.

Service was July 7, 1997 at Rogers Mt. Grove Liberty Community Church with the Rev. Earl Stapleton officiating. Interment was in the Rogers Mt. Smoluch, Frank P.

DANVILLE - Frank P. Smoluch, age 65, of Route 1, Belleville, died Saturday, November 1, 1980 at Yell County Hospital. He was a native of Chicago, Ill and son of the late Joseph Frank and Lucy Cetnar Smoluch. He was a farmer and a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include three brothers, Edward Smoluch of Belleville, Frank Jakim of Harvey, Ill., and Walter Schinick of Posen, Ill.; two sisters, Anna Dickey of Hot Springs and Jeannette Meida of Fort Smith, and several nephews and nieces.

Mrs. Callie Snelling, age 85, of Sherwood, a native of Danville, died Sunday, September 23, 1984.

Survivors include two sons, four daughters, a brother, 28 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Snider, Julian Lee

Julian Lee Snider, age 77, of Dardanelle, AR died Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. He was born February 5, 1925 in Chickalah, Yell County, Arkansas to the late Arthur Lafate and Francis Lou Talley Snider. He was a retired sawmiller.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruelene Adkinson Snider; two sons, Donnie Snider and Randy Snider and a grandson, Santiago Garcia.

Survivors are two sons, Roy Snider of Flagstaff, AZ, Thomas Snider of Espanola, New Mexico; five daughters, Charlotte Garvin of New Blaine, AR, Vera Dagenhart of Bullhead City, AZ, Kathy Jackson of Snow Flake, AZ and Sandy Snider and Nathlee Garcia both of Espanola, NM; 26 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Snider, Ruelene Celesta Adkison

Ruelene Celesta Adkison Snider, age 70, of Dardanelle, AR died Thursday, March 26, 1998 at her home in Dardanelle. She was born September 16, 1927 in Harkey's Valley, Yell County, Arkansas to the late Ruel Adkison and Vera Celesta Tucker Adkison Pitts. She was raised in Harkey's Valley and went to school in Chickalah's two room school house and then attended the Dardanelle School. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, a homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a nurses aid, having worked in nursing homes in New Mexico, Arizona and Arkansas. For six years she was a senior companion volunteer for the Area Agency for the Aging in Dardanelle.

She was preceded in death by her step-father, Fred Pitts and two sons, Donnie Snider and Randy Snider.

Survivors are her husband, Julian Snider; two sons, Roy Snider of Flagstaff, AZ and Thomas Snider of Espanola, NM; five daughters, Charlette Garvin of Dardanelle, AR, Vera Dagenhart of Idabel, OK, Kathy Jackson of Snowflake, AZ, Sandy Snider and Nathlee Garcia both of Espanola, NM; two brothers, Bill Pitts of Harkey's Valley and Vivon Adkison of Kansas City, MO; one sister, Geraldene Duke of Dardanelle, AR; 26 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Ruth Grace Snider, age 74 of Dardanelle died Tuesday, December 10, 2002 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born January 19, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late Meyer and Juliett Dudosett Weiss. She was a retired restaurant owner, a Senior Citizen volunteer, a homemaker and mother.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Rodney Clark and Bonnie Snider.

Survivors are a son, Mike Malone of Dardanelle; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Ted Breashears of Dardanelle, step-daughter, Wanda Willis of Tennessee; grandchildren, Vickie Hampton, Julie Case, Alicia Malone, Katie Breashears; great-grandchildren, Heather Hampton, Taylor Boehm and J. Jimmy Snoddy, age 56, a resident of Russellville, AR died Thursday, September 26, 2002 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. He was born November 25, 1945 in Russellville. He was a member of the Damascus Assembly of God.

Snuggs, Charlie O.

Sgt. 1st Class Charlie O. Snuggs, age 77 of Lawton, OK died March 2, 1998 in a Lawton Hospital. He was born March 11, 1920 in Ola, AR. He married Pearl Baunoch on March 11, 1980 in Las Vegas. He grew up in Arkansas and Oklahoma. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea. He retired from the Army in 1961 after more than 20 years of service. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5263.

Survivors include his wife, Pearl Snuggs, of the home; a son, Charles of California; two daughters, Patricia Joyce Barney of Torrence, CA and Sally Kelly of Barnum, Minn., a sister, Bessie Garner of Rush Springs; a brother, Richard of Mayflower, AR and three grandchildren.

Snyder, Kenneth K.

Kenneth K. Snyder, age 81, of Ola, AR died Sunday, October 24, 1999 at the Dardanelle Hospital in Dardanelle, AR. He was born December 8, 1917 in Newkirk, OK, the son of the late Roy C. and Mildred Poland Snyder. He was a poultry and cattle farmer. He graduated from Green Forest High School and Arkansas Polytechnical College.

He was preceded in death by, his wife, Rachel Manuel Snyder, his brother, Harold Snyder and sister, Lucile Decocq.

Survivors include a brother, Frank Snyder of Green Forest; two sisters, Lois Cannon of El Dorado, AR and Jean Tinsley of Bonner Springs, KS; foster granddaughter, Lesley Butt of Dardanelle, AR; two nephews, Junior and Lester Mans of Clarksville, AR and several other nieces and nephews.

Twana Lee Snyder, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Snyder, born July 31, 1949 passed away one hour later at the St. Mary's Hospital at Russellville.

Frank Socha, age 28, died on August 5, 2013. Frank had been living with his sister in Austin, Texas since 2008. Frank was born May 15, 1985 in Omaha, NE. He was the son of Nellie and the late Tom Socha. His family moved to Danville in October of '89 where he attended school from K-12th grade. Frank played on Danville Little Johns' football team, and helped to bring Danville to the playoffs in 2002, his Senior year. Frank was well loved by many in Danville, and will be missed by his family and friends. He will be cremated in Austin, TX and no memorial services will be held.

Socha, Thomas G.

Thomas G. Socha, age 57, of Danville, AR died Wednesday, October 3, 2001 at the Veterans Hospital in North Little Rock, AR. He was born November 29, 1943 in Bay Shore, NY. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Danville, the NRA, Dutch Creek Fire Department, where he served as assistant Fire Chief and was on the Board of Directors and the Single Action Shooters Society. He grew up on Long Island, NY and served for 28 years in the Air Force as a small arms instructor, ending that career as CM Sgt. In 1989. He was a teacher for four years at the Juvenile Detention Center in Danville. He fought cancer for 11 1/2 years and was an inspiration to other patients in the Veterans Hospital. He cared deeply for his country and was involved in many community and family projects.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nellie Socha; two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Amy Socha of Omaha, NE and Frank Socha of Danville, AR; two daughters Cecilia Socha of Springfield, NE and Jenipher Socha of Omaha, NE; one brother, John R. Socha of Pavilion, NY and one sister, Janet L'Hommedieu of East Islip, NY.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 13, 2001 at the Dutch Creek Fire Department on Highway 80 out of Danville. Memorial may be made to the Dutch Creek Fire Dept. Elena Castro Solis, age 80 of Danville, AR passed away Wednesday, August 29, 2007 in Ft. Smith. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Danville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Aurelio Solis.

She is survived by six daughters Josefa Solis and Maria Romero both of Santa Maria, California, Adela Oliva and Ernestina Gomez both of Danville, Arkansas, and Carmela Banuelos and Elisa Martinez both of Leon Guanajuato, Mexico; four sons Rafael Solis of Danville, Arkansas, Rogelio Solis of Guadalupe, California, Jose Solis of Ft. Smith and Jesus Solis of Danville, Arkansas; one sister Maria Castro of Leon Guanajuato, Mexico; 57 Grandchildren, 49 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.

Infant Juan Jose Garcia Solis, of Russellville, AR died July 9, 2004. He was the infant son of Eduardo Garcia and Sylvia Solis of Russellville, AR.

Other survivors include, one brother, Ivan Eduarda Garcia Solis of Russellville; maternal grandmother, Concepcion Ramirez of Danville; paternal grandmother, Mercedes Ramirez of Danville; three uncles Oscar, Caesar and Luis Solis all of Danville and one aunt Teresa Solis of Danville.

Solley, Eddie Ray ("infant")

Infant Eddie Ray Solley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Toney Solley of Plainview, died in the home Thursday morning, May 9. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Ola Clinic in Ola.

Survivors besides his parents include three brothers, David Charles, Kenneth Dale and Gregory Lynn of the home; one sister, Patricia Ann of the home. Also his paternal grandfather, S. R. Solley of Benton; his maternal grandparnets, Mr. and Mrs. Loy Weens of Bluffton.

Son, William Franklin, Sr.

William Franklin Son, Sr., age 83 of Plainview, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born November 19, 1926 in Lepanto, AR to the late William Nathaniel and the late Maudie Marie Cook Son.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Jerry W. Son. William grew up as the oldest of ten children on his family's farm.

At the age of fifteen, William enlisted in the Navy. With an honorable discharge from the Navy after the end of World War II, William promptly re-enlisted into the Army where he faithfully served his country for 32 years. William is a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, as well as the Vietnam War. Throughout his career, he was stationed around the globe in various places including Germany, Alaska, the Philippines, Hawaii, Korea, and Vietnam. Upon honorably retiring from the military, William moved his young family to Plainview where he began a 30 year career in logging. Known by all as Sarge, he could often be seen unwinding after a brutal day in the log woods with a cup of coffee in his hand, visiting with good friends. Sarge retired from logging at the tender age of 78 after Alzheimer's began to take it's toll.

He is survived by his wife, Xuan Thi Truong Son of Plainview. Sonnier, Patricia Ann (Holland)

Patricia Ann Sonnier, age 71, of Shorter, Alabama died Thursday, March 5, 2015. She was born July 24, 1943 at Stockton, CA to the late James and Lola Marie Schubert Holland. She was a member of the Plainview Church of Christ, she loved to paint and read.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Villery and Helena Sonnier.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph "Pat" Sonnier of Scott, Louisiana; her children, Todd Daniels and wife Juliana of Shorter, Alabama, Traci Scarbrough and husband Allen of Alabama, Jason Bradberry of Louisiana; one stepson, Tim Sonnier of Scott, Louisiana; one brother, Bobby Holland and wife Michelle; three sisters, Jean Kniffen and husband Dee, Darlene McCullens and husband Rick and Freda Amie; two grandchildren, five step grandchildren and one step great grandchild.

Sorochuk, Betty Jane Johnson

Betty Jane Johnson Sorochuk, known to us as Susie, passed away April 18, 2007 in Randolph, Utah after a valiant batter with cancer. She was born to Ted and Helen Johnson on April 5, 1943 in McAlester, OK. She married Norman Sorochuk in 1963 and was later divorced. She was a resident of Libby, Montana for 18 years and later moved to Birta, AR where she worked as an LPN. She was known for being a very hard worker and for her loving way.

She is survived by two sons, Marty and Janie Sorochuk and Todd and Lorraine Sorochuk all of Randolph, UT; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Linda and Garry McElderry of Greeley, CO and Judy and Ron Taylor of Noxon, MT; two brothers, Billy Ted of Birta, AR and George Johnson of Little Rock, AR; four nieces and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carol Soroka, born July 17, 1942 in Logan County, Ohio, died September 5, 2005 in Russellville, Arkansas. She is the daughter of the late Harold and Helen Foulk.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne E. and Robin Hall of Mesa, AZ grandchildren Christopher, Nikki, and Tina Hall two brothers, Harrison Foulk of Dover and Jim Foulk of Pauls Valley, OK four sisters, Joanne Butterfield of Coolidge, AZ, Georgia Enos of San Bernardino, CA, Evangeline Hurst of Coolidge, AZ and Betty Schrand of Searcy fifteen nephews fourteen nieces and sixty great nephews and nieces. Pallbearers were Dwayne Hall, Harrison Foulk, Jim Foulk, Denny Foulk, Patrick Patton, Joseph Foulk, and David Schrand. Honorary pallbearer was Christopher Hall.

Warren G. "Dick" Southard, age 86 of Gravelly, passed away Wednesday, August 16, 2006 at his home in Gravelly. He was born April 12, 1920 in Norfolk, Arkansas, to Frank and Bertha Mae Turner Southard. He was a member of the Church of Christ, a WWII Army Veteran, and a member of the Plainview VFW. He was a retired land and cattle farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Owen, Charley, and Willis Southard.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 53 years, Sylvia Deane Hunt Southard; a son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Patti Southard of Atkins; grandchildren, Andrea Dawn and Alex Crowder, Perryville, Cameron Lee and Brook, Brad Allen, and Lori Ann Southard all of Atkins. Great-grandchildren, William Sidney, Alexandrea Hope, and Dylan Hunt Crowder of Perryville; sisters Novalene Southard and Ilene Wood of Gravelly; and a sister-in-law Myrtle Southard of Paragould; several nephews, nieces, and friends.

Southard, Willis M.

Willis M. Southard, age 93 of Gravelly, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006 at his home. He was born April 22, 1913 in Norfork, Arkansas, the eldest son of Frank and Bertha Turner Southard. In 1924 his family moved to Bluffton to manage his grandfather's cotton gin. He became a home builder, registered polled Hereford breeder, Mason, beloved husband and father. He took great pride in being a student and lover of nature. He was a voracious reader, being quite knowledgeable of past and present world events.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years in 1990, Lois Lofland Southard, eldest daughter, W. June Jelinek, brother, Rev. Charles Southard, and parents.

Survivors include his daughter, Susan Haas and husband Dr. George Haas of North Little Rock, son-in-law James Jelinek of Knoxville, TN, three grandchildren; two sisters, Ilene Wood and Navalene Southard of Gravelly, one brother, Warren Southard of Gravelly, three great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Dr. Joe Lee Buford for his many years of compassionate care and friendship.

Funeral services were Saturday at Mt. Vernon Church with John McCourt officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites was in Young Gravelly Cemetery. Southwick, Mildred Lucille (Wyatt)

Mildred Lucille Wyatt Southwick, age 89, passed away August 8, 2011. She was born October 10, 1921 in Alma, AR, the daughter of John and Amelia King Wyatt. Raised in Havana, AR, Lucille moved to Pine Bluff in 1962 where she worked for the National Bank of Commerce until she retired in 1978. She loved travelling, the outdoors and was an avid gardener. Her favorite hobby was quilting and she excelled at it. She was actively involved as a member of the Watson Baptist Church and was greatly blessed by many friends she has there.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, four sisters and her beloved husband, Bob Southwick.

She is survived by two step- daughters, her brother, Johnny Wyatt and numerous nieces and nephews who miss her greatly.

Khamphanh "Kam" Souvannakhoth, age 67, of Russellville died Friday, March 23 at his home. He was born March 1, 1945 in Savannakhet, Laos. He was a retired machine operator for Con Agra and a member of the thai buddhist temple in Ft. Smith and the Arkansas River Valley Laos Immigrant support group.

He is survived by his wife, Sayphone Souvannakhoth, children, Susan Hicks of Russellville, Elizabeth "Nok" Webster of Conway, Tino Souvannakhoth of Las Vegas, NV, mother, Pheng Souvannakhoth of Laos, sisters, Nancy Sanavongsay of Holland, MI, Souphaphone Vongvilay of Laos, brother, Oudom Souvannakhoth of Laos and six grandchildren.

Service was Tuesday at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with monks from the thai buddhist temple in Ft. Smith officiating.
