Sheets, Bobby Joe

Bobby Joe Sheets, age 75, of Jacksonville died Thursday, January 21, 2010. He was born November 18, 1934, in England, AR to Hazel Garland and Maudie Jane McGee Sheets.

Survivors include his wife, Earline Sheets; children, Cindy Ann Stivers of Conway, Jody Darran Sheets of Conway, and Bobby Joe Gibson of Little Rock; stepdaughters, Chris Hobson of England and Tricia Zellow of Sherwood; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Henry Sheets of Bakersfield, CA; and a sister, Pauline Shockley Barber of Russellville, formerly of Danville.

Memorial service was Monday, January 25 at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Chapel. Interment followed at Chapel Hill Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Second Baptist Church of Jacksonville. Sheets, Carrie Lois (Cauley)

Carrie Lois Sheets age 86 of Dardanelle died Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle. She was born January 6, 1926 in Van Buren, Arkansas to the late George and Rose Cossey Cauley. Carrie loved cooking and most of all spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her children, Garland Sheets and wife Sheila of California, Jimmie Sheets, Lynda Carter both of Mt. George and Diane Hale and husband Samuel of Atkins; nine grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren.

Sheets, Garland Hazel

Garland Hazel Sheets, age 78, of Dardanelle, AR died Friday, April 20, 2004 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center. He was born February 28, 1926 in Birta, AR to the late Hazel Garland and Maudie Jane McGhee Sheets. He was a Dardanelle assistant chief of police for many years, drove a school bus for the Dardanelle school district and a WWII Army Veteran.

Survivors include, two sons, Garland E. Sheets of Valley Springs, CA and Jimmie Sheets of Mt. George, AR; two daughters, Lynda Carter of Mt. George and Diane Hale of Atkins, AR; two brothers, Henry Lee Sheets of Bakersfield, CA and Bobby Joe Sheets of Jacksonville, AR; one sister, Pauline Shockley Barber of Russellville, AR; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Sheets, Robert Henry

Robert Henry Sheets, age 88, of Dardanelle, AR died Wednesday, October 6, 1999 at the Dardanelle Hospital. He was born November 22, 1910 in Yell County, AR to the late Elish and Tressy Dukes Sheets. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a retired carpenter.

Survivors include his brother, Carl Sheets of Winton, CA and a sister, Jessie Reece of Centerville, AR and several nephews and nieces.

Service was October 8, 1999 at Mt. George Church of Christ with Chris George officiating. Interment was in Mt. George Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home or Dardanelle. Shell, Verrell Mixon

Verrell Mixon Shell, age 85, of Dardanelle, AR died Monday, April 20, 1998 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was a past president of Arkansas Credit Association, member of Fraternal Order of Eagles and past president of Ladies Auxiliary, member of Hard Up Girls and Misfits Performing Groups. She retired after 25 years with Jungkind Photographic as bookkeeper/credit manager.

She was survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Jan Ligon of Marietta, GA; two sisters, Annie Laura Jaggers of Dardanelle and Key West, FL, Margaret Triplett of Marianna, GA; one step-daughter, Nancy Partos of Arizona; two grandchildren, Jonathan Ligon and Kara Pair both of GA.

David Shelton, age 33, of Little Rock, a repairman for U. S. Dictaphone, died Monday. Shelton was a member of Amboy Baptist Church, North Little Rock.

Visitation Will be from 7-8:30 p. m. today at Shinn Funeral Home of Russellville. Funeral will be at 2 p. m. Thursday at Rover Baptist Church by the Revs. Lloyd Farmer and John Silvey. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Briggsville. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Shelton, Charles K. (Hank)

Charles K. (Hank) Shelton, age 64 of Rover, AR died Thursday, June 14, 1994. He was Park Manager for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a retired Air Force Master Sergeant; having served with the Air Force from 1950 to 1971, he received the soldiers Medal for Bravery and saw tours of duty in Japan, Korea, Vietnam and England. He was a member of the Rover Baptist Church and was the retired Fire Chief for the Rover Volunteer Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his son, David Shelton and his sister Elizabeth Albright. Survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Shelton of Rover; one daughter, Mary Ellen Me Burnett of North Little Rock; six brothers, Thomas Shelton of Chesapeake, VA, Jack and Jim Shelton both of Amarillo, TX; Robert Shelton of Broken Bow, OK; Ray Shelton of Memphis, TN and Wilson Shelton of Matarie, LA; three grandchildren, Rebecca Shelton, Amber and Sloan McBurnett.

Eugene Shelton, age 87 of Plainview, died in a Little Rock hospital. He was a member of the Plainview Methodist Church, a 32nd degree Mason for 50 years, and had been superintendent of the Ft. Smith Lumber Company.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Minnie Bates Shelton; five daughters, Mrs. Eula Albright of Danville, Mrs. Emma Grace Shields of Newberry, Calif, Mrs. Annette Goldy and Mrs. Jean Walker both of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. Patricia Lorenz of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Ruth Ellison, of San Diego, Calif; two brothers, Fred Shelton of Ola and Carl Shelton of Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Shelton, Mickal Jay

Mickal Jay Shelton, age 53 of Russellville, died Tuesday, February 18, 2010 at his home. He was born December 8, 1956 at New Orleans, LA to the late Herman Tex and Marjorie Joyce Oxen Shelton. He attended Pine Ridge Freewill Baptist Church and was a member of the Atkins American Legion. He was a United States Air Force Veteran and was a truck driver for Mitchell Elser Trucking.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved dog Rufus.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Shelton of Russellville; son, Eric Shelton and wife Jessica of Atkins; daughters, Erin Rhoads of Scranton, Kimmy Qualls and husband Dustin of Russellville, Kelly Shelton of Russellville; two brothers; three sisters; seven grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Patricia Ann "Pat" Shelton, age 75, a resident of Greenbrier, AR formerly of Rover, AR died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Greenbrier. She was born July 2, 1932, at Little Rock to Irby Etheridge and Hattie Jewel Walden Sloan. She was a homemaker and a prizewinning quilter and crocheter. She was a member of the Rover Home Extension Club and the Rover Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 20 years and was the church pianist for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Kenneth "Hank" Shelton; and a son, Charles David Shelton.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and William McBurnett of Conway; three grandchildren and their spouses, Rebecca Lynn and Mark Campbell of Ozark, Amber Nicole and Scott Harton of Maumelle, and Benjamin Sloan McBurnett of Conway; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral will be held at 10 a. m. on Thursday, May 1, 2008, at the Rover Baptist Church with Bro. Kirk Shelton officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Shelton, Ruby Angelette "Billie"

Ruby Angelette "Billie" Shelton, age 82 of Amarillo died Saturday, April 5, 2008.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 p. m. Tuesday in the First Christ Church Chapel with Regi Fowler and Susan Burke officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Mrs. Shelton was born June 21, 1925, in Ola, AR to Melvin and Marjory Dixon. She was a graduate of Ola High School. She married Jackson Raymond Shelton on May 18, 1947, in the Ola Methodist Church. Jack, her husband, was superintendent of the Plainview-Rover school for many years before they moved to Amarillo. Mrs. Shelton had worked at the Pentagon during World War II. In 1956 she and her husband moved to Amarillo. She and her husband were huge West Texas A & M University women's volleyball and basketball fans and were members of the WTAMU booster clubs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include her husband, Jack; five daughters, Cynthia Weir, Celeste Rodriguez and husband Oscar, Emily Nance and husband Doug, Elizabeth Lott and husband Steve, all of Amarillo, and Molly Vulk and husband Marty of North Richland Hills; a son, Melvin Shelton and wife Suzanne of Albuquerque, N. M.; a brother, Jim Bill Dixon; six grandsons; three granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.

Shepard, Aubrey

Dardanelle Man Dies In Car Wreck Aubrey Shepard, 43, Dardanelle, was killed Friday night when his car rammed a dump truck on the east end of the Arkansas river bridge. City Marshal James Hodges said in a preliminary investigation, Hodges said, officers were unable to determine whether the truck loaded with coal, was parked on the bridge or was moving across it. The Shepard car plowed into the rear of the truck. Shepard was dead on arrival at a Russellville hospital.

Johnnie Faye (Franklin) Shepard, age 81, from the Sugar Grove community near Booneville, Logan County, Arkansas, passed away on Friday, 04 February 2011, in her home. She was born on 06 Jun 1929, near Booneville, Arkansas, to Jesse "Jessie" Franklin and Martha Mable (Rushing) Franklin. She was a homemaker and member of the Hilltop House of Praise near Booneville.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Earnest R. Shepard, and her parents.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, 08 February 2011, at the Hilltop House of Praise near Booneville with burial in Helton Cemetery south of Booneville, under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home of Booneville.

She is survived by one son, Earnest D. She and her late husband, Chester Shepherd, owned and operated Shepherd Grocery.

Shepherd, Phillip Dale

Phillip Dale Shepherd, age 45, of Dardanelle, AR, died Friday, June 30, 2000 from injuries received in a motorcycle accident on Crawford Highway, Clarksville, AR on Friday. He was owner of Brothers Window Washing Company of Dardanelle and was the president of District three B. A. T. E. Club. He was born in Flint, MI, February 13, 1955, son of the late Donald and Vernon Ward Shepherd. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Laura Shepherd.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Smith Shepherd; one son, Isaac Shepherd of Russellville, AR; five brothers, Paul Shepherd of Bemidji, MN, Roy Shepherd of West Memphis, AR, Eldon Shepherd of Flint, MI, Dallas Shepherd of Flagstaff, AZ and Nate Shepherd of Paris, AR.

Orvil Sheppard, age 98, of Havana, AR died Tuesday, April 25, 2006 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville. Born November 14, 1907, in Yell County, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Lula Moore Underwood. She was a clerk at Tapp's Grocery Store and a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands: Cecil Lusk and Earl Sheppard.

Survivors include a sister, Mildred Vaughn of California; caregivers, Dale and Leonora Caldwell of Havana; several nieces and nephews.

Sherman, Elnora Moudy

Elnora Moudy Sherman passed away peacefully on March 28, 2010 at Camelot of Broussard Nursing Home in Broussard, LA. A native of Belleville, AR, she was born May 19, 1931 and was a longtime resident of Sherwood, AR. She moved to Broussard, LA in June of 2005. Elnora was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who truly enjoyed life. She was a breast cancer survivor and supporter. After Elnora's retirement as secretary of Sherman Construction, she was involved in numerous senior citizen activities. She loved the simple things in life and would always welcome the opportunity to go out for coffee and pie. Elnora kept up with all the local and world events by watching television news and reading newspapers. She enjoyed writing letters to relatives and friends.

She is survived by her son, Kevin Sherman of Jacksonville, AR; daughters, Marlene Sherman of Little Rock, AR and Janet Sherman Broussard Roy (Don) of Broussard, LA; grandchildren, Justin, Lauren and Kynley Roy of Broussard, LA; brothers, Opal Lee Moudy (Pauline) of Jonesboro AR, Dr. Perry, AR; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Sherman, Greta (Rodgers)

Greta Sherman, 80, of Dardanelle, died Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at the River Valley Medical Center. She was born March 17, 1931, in Yell County, to Floyd and Lyda Mae George Rodgers. She had been a waitress at the Old South Restaurant in Russellville for over 17 years, and was a member of the Birta Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Otis Flood; two sons, Kenneth and Patrick Flood; a daughter, Vickie Flood; a brother, Charles Rodgers; and a sister, Reba Benefield.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Susie Flood of Ola; three grand- children, Jamie Whitted of Ola, Clint Flood and his wife, Crystal, of Alma, and Eric Flood of Casa; and four great- grandchildren, Corey Cain, Samantha Flood, Alexis Flood and Reagan Flood.

The funeral service was Saturday, June 4, 2011, at the Birta Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Randall Gilbert. Lois Jean Sherman, age 69 of Dardanelle died Friday, February 8, 2008 at her home. She was born December 11, 1938 at Humnoke to the late Jesse and Rosie Qualls Merriweather.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Bobby Robinson and Patrick Sherman.

Survivors include her children, Nick Robinson of Pine Bluff, Randy Robinson of Danville, Sherry Adaire of McRae, Brenda Horn of Dardanelle, Armond Sherman of Florida, Mark Sherman of Michigan; brothers, Jesse Merriweather, Kenneth Merriweather, Jimmy Merriweather all of Holland, Michigan; sisters, Katherine Ballard of Bebee, Vicki Valentine of Conway; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Graveside services were held February 9, 2008 at Ringer Cemetery in Centerville with Brandon Adaire officiating. Charlie "Waymon" Sherrell, age 92, of Belleville passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at St. Vincent in Little Rock. Waymon was born October 16, 1922, in Midway, Arkansas to the late Clifford & Happy Robinson Sherrell. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and a cattle farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leroy Sherrell; and sister, Juanita Turner.

John Sherrell, age 75, died at a hospital in Danville October 14 following a long illness. He was a resident of Belleville and a farmer.

Mr. Lacy "Brown" Sherrell, age 83, of Mount Ida, AR died Friday, March 13, 1998 at the Montgomery County Nursing Home. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born August 19, 1914 in Riley Creek, Yell County, AR to John and Virginia Vanderver Sherrell. He was united in marriage to Marie Tubbs on October 21, 1939 in Danville, AR. He made his home in Mount Ida for 44 years. He was retired from the photography business and the Indianapolis Glove Factory. He was a member of the American Legion and a veteran of WWII. He was a charter member of the Lake Ouachita Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Lee Reed, Grade Sherrell and Macy Sherrell.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Sherrell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Grace and John Ballentine and Mammie and Don Vanderford; two grandsons, Richard and Penny Wheeler and Bro. Charles Ballentine; two granddaughters, Tammy and Jim Klutts and Shelia Hickamn and the late DeWayne Hickman; eight great-grandchildren, Katrina Wheeler, Allison Herrell, Jessie and John Coley Ballentine, Luke and Zach Klutts and Trevor and Austin Hickman and many friends and family.

He is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Gary & Debra Sherrill, Rick & Joyce Sherrill and Mike Sherrill all of Bluffton, Terry & Marilyn Sherrill of Waldron and Seth & Madaline Sherrill of Castroville, TX; a brother, Leonard Sherrill of Blue Ball; two sisters, Ora Powell of Pine Bluff and Opal Phillips of Star City; 10 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Service was August 18, 2003 at the Wing Community Church with Terry Sherrill officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Bluffton by Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville, AR. Pallbearers were Timothy, Scott, Travis, Nolan and Cody Sherrill and Mitch Evans. Honorary were Alex and Mitchell Evans and Darns Hill.
