Spears, Thelma Louise Dobbs

Thelma Louise Dobbs Spears, age 74, of Danville, AR died Saturday, September 2, 2000 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville, AR. She was born February 9, 1926 in Bluffton, AR to the late Fee Winfield and Dovie Florence Garner Dobbs. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Spears; a brother, William Dobbs and two sisters, Alene Vaughn and Elsie McConnell.

She is survived by, a son, Thermon Spears of Plainview, AR; four daughters, Juanita Alvey of Bluffton, AR, Mary Fowler of Briggsville, AR, Diane Nelms and Carolyn Smith both of Danville, AR; a brother, Delbert Dobbs of Rodeo, CA; 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held September 5, 2000 at the Briggsville Second Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Walker officiating. Burial was at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Briggsville, AR. Spears, Thermon

Thermon Spears, age 62, died Monday, March 14, 2011 at Mitchell Nursing Home in Danville. He was born August 2, 1948 in Briggsville, the son of the late Wilbert and Thelma Dobbs Spears. He retired from Deltic Lumber Company and Wayne Farms. He was baptized at the Chalybeate Springs Missionary Baptist church and was a member of the Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melissa Spears Sherrill; son-in-law, Mark Meirndorf; infant grandson, Bradley Meirndorf and a sister, Juanita Spears Alvey.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Brenda Fowler Spears; daughters, Donna Meirndorf and Wendy and David Hill all of Rover; sisters, Mary Fowler of Briggsville, Diane and Gary Nelms of Danville and Carolyn and William Smith of Rover; grandchildren, Brittney Spears and D.J. Hill of Rover, Autumn, Hannah and Whitney Sherrill of Dardanelle and a host of nephews and nieces.

Graveside service was March 17, 2011 at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Briggsville, AR with Bro. Harold Walker officiating. Mr. Wilbert Thermon Spears, age 72 of Briggsville, AR died Friday, December 4, 1992 at his home in Briggsville. He was the son of the late William Issac and Minnie Keys Spears and was a retired fanner.

He is survived by his wife Mrs. Thelma Louis Dobbs Spears; one son Thurman Spears of Riley Creek; four daughters Juanita S. Alvey, Mary Fowler and Carolyn Spears all of Briggsville and Diane Nelms of Dardanelle; one brother Clifford Spears of Briggsville; two sisters Betty Willis of Briggsville and Marie Lawson of Waldron; two uncles Loy Spears or Rover and Bill Spears of Briggsville; two aunts Jewel Melton of Briggsville and Eunice Scott of Malvern; 17 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

William Bill I. Spears, age 80, of Briggsville, AR, died Sunday November 9, 1997 at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville, AR. He was a retired construction worker and a WWII Veteran. He was born in Briggsville, AR September 11, 1917 son of the late Dave and Polly Green Spears.

Survivors include his wife, Johnnie R. Dawson Spears; son and daughter-in-law, Billy Keith and Betty Spears of Ola; a sister, Jewell Melton of Briggsville; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren.

Beverly Sue Spencer, age 66, of Dardanelle, AR did Saturday, December 20, 2008 at her home. She was born at Cathage, IL to the late Vincent and Eva Mae LeClare Brown. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Russellville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldriche Ray Spencer.

Survivors include two sons, Timothy Ray and Tracey Wayne Spencer both of Dardanelle; two brothers, Vincent Brown, Jr. of Atoona, IA and Thomas Brown of Keokuk, IA; one sister, Sandra Derk of Keokuk, IA and many nieces and nephews.

Eldriche Ray Spencer, age 67, of Dardanelle, AR died Wednesday, November 1, 2006 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, AR. He was born September 19, 1939 at Pemiscot County, MO to the late Jesse Wayne and Carrie Thomas Spencer. He was an Army Veteran and attended the First Assembly of God Church in Russellville. He retired from Tyson Foods in Dardanelle after 17 years of employment.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Beverly Spencer of Dardanelle; two sons, Timothy Ray Spencer of Lake Butler, FL and Tracey Wayne Spencer of Fort Madison, IA; a sister, Dean Grissom of Knoxville, AR; numerous nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

She was born August 24, 1905 at Black Fork, AR in Scott County to Joe C. and Minnie L. Howze Hairrell. She was a homemaker and the widow of Mack O. Spencer. She was a member of the Plainview Church of Christ.

Survivors include, three daughters and a son-in-law, Lucille and John A. HOT SPRINGS Mrs. Mae Spencer, age 60, a teacher in Hot Springs public school system, died Wednesday. (August 23) She was a native of Rover (Yell County), had taught at Greenwood Elementary School for 11 years and at Eastside Elementary School for a year and was a member of Second Baptist Church.

Carroll K. Spiller, age 77, a resident of Smicksburg, Pennsylvania died Tuesday, March 6, 2001 at his home. He was born on April 9, 1923 in Gatesville, TX to Steve and Eula Long Spiller. He was a self-employed cotton farmer, had also been propane gas distributor in western Texas before retiring in 1987, and was a member of Russell Park Baptist Church in Fort Myers, Florida.

Sprague, Nancy Rebecca Stokes

Funeral services for Nancy Rebecca Stokes Sprague of Kincaid whose death on Sunday Oct 14, 2001 was reported in Monday's Register, will be at 10 a. m. Thursday at the Kincaid Baptist Church. The Rev. She was born August 21, 1936, in Onyx, Yell County, Ark. to Elijah Kendrich and Iva Mae Crawford Stokes. She was graduated from high school in Danville, Ark. She moved to Iola where she attended Allen County Community College. After further college classes at Springfield Mo. she returned to Iola where she worked for Pet Milk. On December 20, 1959, she married Kenneth Sprague. They made their home in Kincaid She was a farm wife, assisting her husband in running the family farm and raising their children. She attended the Kincaid First Baptist Church, where she played the piano and organ for more than 20 years and participated in a variety of ways with the vacation Bible schools. She was an avid photographer, chronicling the life of her family and farm. She liked to read, play and listen to music and traveling. She devoted much of her time to researching family genealogy. She recently began quilting.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth; two sons, Max of Kincaid and Joel of Lebo; two daughters, Monique Litherland of Topeka and Myla Ma of Hong Kong; and three granddaughters, Dasha Watt, Brittney Sprague and Etika Litherland. Aaron Bell Springer, Sr. age 54 of Dardanelle died Sunday, July 14, 2002 at the Dardanelle Hospital. He was born July 17, 1947 in Clarksdale, Mississippi to the late Eddie and Laura Davis Springer. He was member of the Mt. George Church of Christ, a Vietnam Veteran and a riverboat captain for American Commercial Barge Line.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Martin Springer and William Edward Springer; two sisters, Elizabeth Springer and Lottie Springer.

Survivors are his wife of 15 years, Diane King Springer; three sons, Aaron B. Springer Jr. of Mississippi, Brice Hamilton Bond of Seattle, Wash. and Christopher Patrick Bond of Dardanelle; a daughter, Kimberley Ann Johnson of Ohio; a brother, Harvey Springer of Gore Springs, Miss.; four grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.

Carl Eugene Stacy, age 64 of Dardanelle, died Wednesday, April 15, 2009. He was born August 1, 1944 at Goodwill, Louisiana to Frank and Edna Mae Gargaouns Stacy.

He is preceded in death by his father, Frank Stacy; sisters, Rosa Ann Collins and Julie Stacy.

Survivors include his mother, Edna Stacy of Dardanelle; daughter and son-in-law, Eugena Sue and Rand Ford of Ohio; son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Linda Stacy of the Gumlog Community; brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Ella Stacy of Damascus; halfbrother, Benny and wife Jean Stacy of Conway; brother-in-law, George Collins of Dardanelle; five grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Alex Stafford, age 80, of Belleville died August 21, 1954 at his home. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Methodist Church and a lifelong resident of Yell County.

Stafford, Norman E.

Norman Stafford Dies in Fall at Monticello - A brain injury suffered last Wednesday in a fall from a truck proved fatal to Norman E. Stafford, age 55, Monticello logging contractor. Stafford was a former Yell County resident.

He died in Monticello, Thursday after his head had been hit by a wheel of the truck in which he was reportedly riding Wednesday. Reports said that steam from the radiator flew back into Stafford's face and that he either jumped or fell from the back of the truck. His head was hit by a wheel. The accident occurred just outside the Monticello city limits on Highway 81.

Staggs, Opal A.

Opal A. Staggs, age 79 of Paron, died Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at his son's home in Vilonia. He was born in Plainview, AR on November 11, 1922. He was the son of the late Charles Arthur and Lela Carr Staggs. He was a retired machinist, retiring from A. M. F. Bicycle Plant, and was a member of the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Noble Staggs, and two sisters, Ruby Staggs and an infant sister.

Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Oates Staggs; three sons, David Staggs of Paron, Delbert Staggs of Little Rock, and Darryl Staggs of Vilonia; two step-sons, and one stepdaughter; two sisters, Jessie Smith of Plainview and Lola Marie Holland of Lafayette, Louisiana; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Thursday, May 9, 2002 at 2:00 p. m. at the Plainview Church of Christ with Mr. Butch Gossett officiating. Burial was in Salem Cemetery in Plainview, AR. Stahl, Berne Ora

Rev. Berne Ora Stahl, age 57, of Plainview, died Thursday; afternoon, March 4, 1971 at the Dardanelle Clinic. He had been an active minister for the past 14 years. Rev. Stahl was a native of Plainview, pastor of the Danville Free Will Baptist Church and the son of the late Daniel and Martha Elms Stahl.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Frankie Holman Stahl, three sons, Danny. Stahl of Russellville, Sherman Stahl of the Bentwater Air Force Base in England, and Mike Stahl of the home; six daughters, Mrs. Nina Sullivan of El Dorado, Mrs. Bernice Cook of Little Rock, Mrs. Arlene Thomas of Russellville, Mrs. Loretta Owens of Danville, Miss. Angie Stahl and, Miss Carol Stahl both of the home; four brothers, Kermit Stahl and Lahoma Stahl, both of Bakersfield, Cal., Tola Stahl of Memphis, Tenn. and Randa Stahl of Bayshore N.Y.; two sisters Mrs. Retha Padgett of Plainview, and Mrs. Larkie Cook of Bakersfield, Calif., and nine-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Plainview Freewill Baptist Church Saturday afternoon by Rev. Gene Bishop and Rev. R. D. Hester. Interment was at the New Bethel Cemetery. Casket bearers were Earl Stapleton, Earl Woods, Thelter Gentry, Othel May, Harold Ramey, Udell Fryar, Loyd Millwood and Osborn Harkey. Randa Hoy Stahl, age 89, of Plainview, AR died Monday, October 30, 2006 at Chambers Memorial Hospital Danville. He was born February 16, 1917 at Plainview to the late Daniel and Martha Elms Stahl. He was a WWII Army Veteran and a mail clerk for the Pennsylvania Railroad.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Louise Nuetzel Stahl of Plainview, AR; two sons and daughters-in-law, Randa and Sandra Stahl of Roundtop, TX and Robert and Mary Stahl of Houston, TX; a sister, Larkie Cook of Bakersville, AR; special friends, Doris Bishop and John Keeney of Plainview and two grandchildren

Staley, Diane

Diane Staley, age 45, of Mountain Home died Friday, March 22, 2002. She was born May 29, 1956, at Oklahoma City to Nathaniel Ellsworth and Virginia Angeline Rhoades Holland. She married J.B. Staley Jr. on Aug. 15, 1974, in Nicoma Park, Okla., and moved to Mountain Home in 1974 from Nicoma Park. She was a homemaker, a Baptist and enjoyed sewing.

She is survived by her husband, J.B. Staley Jr.; sons Jason Staley and his wife, torme, and Nathan Staley and his wife, Joline; daughters Annie and Leann Staley; her mother, Virginia Holland; brothers Darrell, Paul, Michael and Ronald Holland; a sister, Lajuana Crawford; four grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Chester Holland.

Visitation will be noon-9 p.m. Sunday at Roller Funeral Home with the family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. A funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday in Roller Chapel with Bro. Gale Wooten officiating. Stanberry, Alfred "Jack"

Alfred "Jack" Stanberry, age 82, of Muleshoe, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2001. He was born April 24, 1919 in Waltreak, AR to the late Sam and Anna Stanberry. He married Ruby McCormick on December 23, 1942 in Blytheville. He moved to Muleshoe in 2000 from Danville. He was a WWII veteran serving in the U. S. Army. He retired from Sherley Anderson Grain Elevators in 1987 and was a member of Chalybeate Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Chalybeate Springs, AR.

He was preceded in death by a son, Danny.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby; three sons, Redd and Kent both of Buckeye, AZ and Rick of Muleshoe; two daughters, Evelyn Morris of Muleshoe and Linda Stanberry of Oklahoma City, OK; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Maxine E. Stanberry, age 80, of Havana, AR died Saturday, April 3, 2004 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, AR. She was born October 17, 1923 in Havana, AR to the late Raymond and Jennie Tapp Littleton. She was a retired poultry grower, a member of the Presbyterian Church in Havana and a homemaker and mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Stanberry; a daughter Shirley Emberton and three sisters, Elsie Hendrix, Bessie Spencer and Imogene Graham.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Pauline Stanberry of Mt. George, AR; a daughter, Sharon Barnett of Havana, AR; sister and brothers-in-law, Agnes & Everett Blaylock of Benton, AR and R. M. Graham of Mt. George; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Service was April 5, 2004 at Moore's Chapel Church in Waveland, AR with Rev. Floyd Sheppard officiating. Interment was in Moore s Chapel Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville, AR. Stanberry, Paul Don

Paul Don Stanberry, age 20 of Mt. George, AR died Thursday, December 7, 2006. He was born December 1, 1986 in Dardanelle, AR. He was a 2005 graduate of Ola High School, past FFA Chapter President, past FFA Northwest District President, National Proficiency finalist, and received an FFA scholarship. His FFA advisor was his sister, Patti Priest. His senior year in football, he was named defensive lineman of the year. He was a recent graduate of Universal Technical Institute of Houston, Texas with a degree in auto body collision repair. He was also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping. He attended the Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jack and Mattie Johnson and Troy and Maxine Stanberry.

Survivors include his parents, Larry and Pauline Johnson Stanberry of Mt. George; two sisters and brother-in-law, Patti Priest of Bentonville, AR and Nancy and Johnny Jones of Mt. George; nephew, Jonathan Alex Dewitt; two nieces, Allison and Brittany Dawn Cruse; uncle, R. M. Graham of Mt. George; aunts, Florene Foshee of Driggs, AR, Ima Faye Beck and Betty Cameron both of Magazine, AR, Hazel Foster and Sharon Barnett both of Havana, AR; several cousins, and other family and friends.

Graveside service was Sunday, December 10 at 2:00 p. m. at the Mt. George Cemetery with Brother Chris George officiating. Standridge, Delmer M.

Delmer M. Standridge, age 83 of Dardanelle died Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Dardanelle Nursing and Rehab Center in Dardanelle. He was born August 29, 1929 in Johnson County, Arkansas to the late John Oscar and Hettie Pearson Standridge. He was part of the construction crew of the Dardanelle Lock and Dam, a heavy equipment operator, farmer & 32nd degree Mason with Bright Star Lodge #213. He was a former member of the Arkansas Army National Guard. He liked to hunt, fish and being in the outdoors but his main love was playing music.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Margaret A. Standridge, five brothers, Joe, Loyd, Boyd, Melvin and Doyn Standridge, two sisters, Audrey Jones and Lue Ella Jones.

Survivors include one son Leslie M. Standridge and partner, James Brummett of Minneapolis, MN, two daughters, Brenda A. Standridge-Cantrell and husband Billy of North Little Rock, Jennifer M. Standridge-Simmons and husband Daniel of Austin, AR, two sisters, Arlene Chapman-Weaver and husband Delbert of Tillar, AR and Vernell Hampton of Dardanelle, two grandsons, Chandler and Noah Simmons of Austin, AR and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Cornwell Chapel with Rev. David Downum officiating. Burial will be in Ringer Cemetery at Centerville.
