McCoy, Barbara Sue (George)

Barbara Sue McCoy, 78, of Birta, died Saturday, September 24, 2016, at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock. The daughter of Rufus and Irma Williams George, she was born May 15, 1938, in Birta. She was a 1955 graduate of Ola High School and received an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Capitol City Business College. She married Donald Marion McCoy, on January 20, 1955 at Danville. She was a Nursing Home Administrator with Yell County Nursing in Ola and Stella Manor Nursing Home in Russellville. She was a long time member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church at Birta where she led the children's chapel and singing and teaching the kindergarten class and she served as clerk for the church's missions fund. She cherished 62 years of marriage to her husband, Don. Her happiest times were with her husband and family, and working with the church.

She enjoyed family gatherings and quilting and was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Danny George.

She is survived by her husband, Donald McCoy of Birta, two sisters, Pat McCoy of Romance, Becky Underwood of Dardanelle; two brothers, Dickie George of Kingston, Okla., and James George of Jackson, Ga.; four children and their spouses, Billy (Laura) McCoy of Romance, Kenneth (Sherry) McCoy of Birta, Judy (Lester) Frost of Raymore, Mo., and Joel McCoy of Birta; seven grandchildren, Michael McCoy, Donald Frost, John McCoy, Jesse McCoy, Rebecca West, Suzanne Miller and Robert McCoy; 13 great-grandchildren; Ava, Allison, Delaney, Dylan, Callie, Brianna, Leah, Annabel, Eli, Hannah, Caleb, Caroline and Timothy Cash and three step-great-grandchildren Gavyn, Griffin and Colbie Roberts.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Dr. Michael McCoy and Rev. Randall Gilbert will officiate. Pallbearers are Donald Frost, Kevin Irwin, Robert McCoy, A.J. Malnar, Josh Underwood and Keith George. Honorary pallbearers are Bubba Vance and Jerry Dillahunty. Burial will be at Birta Cemetery in Birta by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation was Monday at the funeral home. McCoy, Clyde Dawson

Clyde Dawson McCoy, 84, of Russellville, went home to be with his Lord Friday, September 20, 2013 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. The son of Harry and Eva McCoy, he was born September 15, 1929 in Plainview. He married Violet McKnight and they lived in Plainview. Clyde grew up on a farm, where he learned to do farm work at an early age. He hoed and picked cotton, milked cows, and plowed the crops with a team of mules. He attended the Plainview Elementary School which was a one room school building for grades one through eight with one teacher. Conditions were difficult at the school. The "restroom" was located down a trail in the woods. Clyde graduated from Ola High School in 1949 which is now Two Rivers School District. Clyde was a Korean war veteran who honorably served his country. After his tour of duty in Korea, he went to Little Rock and worked for Bush-Caldwel, wholesale sporting goods company for 16 years. Elegible to attend school on the GI Bill, he attended night school at the Little Rock Junior College, now UALR, and graduated. He moved to Russellville in 1969 and worked for Bruce-Rogers Wholesale Plumbing Company until Retiring in 1994. He enjoyed attending family and school reunions, Razorback sports and working crossword puzzles. He was a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ and took great pride in attending church services and fellowshipping with all the members. He served as greeter for the church for several years.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Joe McCoy, Justin McCoy, Percy McCoy and Dale McCoy; sister, Vonda McCoy Burnett; grandson, Brian Eubanks; nephew, Larry McCoy; and niece, Linda (McCoy) Nicodemus.

Survivors include his wife, Violet McCoy; brother, Don McCoy and wife Barbara; sister, Emmy Brasier; daughter, Tracy McCoy Bell; son, Wade McCoy; step-son, Allan Hodges and wife Shirley; three grandchildren, Monica Martin, Christopher Trevino and Rachael Bell; two step-grandchildren, David Hodges and Melisa Hodges McVey; five great grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Service was held at 2:00 PM, Monday, September 23, 2013 at Humphrey Chapel. Rev Michael McCoy will officiate. Burial was at Birta Cemetery in Birta by Humphrey Funeral Service. Crystal Lynn Nicole McCoy, age 17, of Center Ridge, passed away Monday, February 13, 2012. She was born on December 13, 1995 in Little Rock, Arkansas, a daughter of Charles Thomas Wilson and Stephanie McCoy Woolverton. Crystal was of the Baptist Faith and was a student at Nemo Vista.

Crystal Lynn Nicole McCoy is survived by her father, Charles T. Wilson and his wife, Darlena of Center Ridge; her stepdad Ray Woolverton, Jr. of Clinton; grandparents, Lonnie & Mary Wilson of Center Ridge, Glen & Sharon Woolverton of Woolverton Mountain, James & Barbara McCoy of Morrilton and Rosie & William Swaffer of Overcup; three brothers, Christopher and Dyirl Woolverton of Woolverton Mountain and Nathan Wilson of Jerusalem; three sisters, Kaila Wilson of Morrilton, Rachel Wilson of Russellville, Claudia Wilson of Center Ridge.

McCoy, Dale J.

Dale J. McCoy, 78, of Ola, AR, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 at Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock, AR. He was the youngest of the eight children of Harry and Eva Woodward McCoy. He was born December 1, 1933 in Nimrod, AR. He married Patricia Ann George on December 31,1955 at Ola, AR. He was a 1952 graduate of Ola High School, and served in the Army for two years in Fort Sill, OK. After leaving the military they moved to Little Rock, AR where he worked for Bush-Caldwell Sporting Goods for 19 years. He moved home to Birta and was warehouse manager with Bruce-Rogers Plumbing in Russellville for over 20 years. He was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Church of Birta and served as the Sunday school superintendant for many years. He had a passion for sports, and he never tired of recounting stories of playing baseball and football. Dale watched his nieces and nephews play sports through the years and as his nephews grew up and became coaches he would travel to those games as well. He loved his family and enjoyed all the family and school reunions. Dale was a cattle rancher for many years and he loved hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Joe, Justin and Percy McCoy; sister, Vonda Burnett; nephew, Larry McCoy; niece, Linda Nicodemus. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Pat McCoy; two brothers, Clyde McCoy & wife Violet of Russellville, twin brother, Don McCoy & wife Barbara of Birta; sister, Emma Brasier of King City, CA; 24 nieces and nephews; 48 great nieces and nephews; numerous great-great nieces & nephews.

McCoy, Frank "Aunt Lizzie" (Mrs.)

Mrs. Frank McCoy (Aunt Lizzie) was born August 8, 1867 and died October 18, 1951 at the age 84 years.

She was the widow of the late Frank McCoy who preceded her in death ten years. Mccoy, Grace Jewell

Grace Jewell McCoy, 86, of Plainview died Sunday, March 31, at the Yell County Hospital at Danville. She was a native of Perry County, widow of William B. McCoy, daughter of the late Samuel and Susan Woodward Anderson, and was a member of the Plainview Assembly of God Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Rhea Cookman of Santa Fe Springs, Calif., Mrs. Suda M. Ross of Plainview and Mrs. Joyce Burner of Baldwin Park, Calif.; a brother, Fay Anderson of El Monte, Calif.; nine grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and two great- great-grand sons.

Mccoy, Ira Jasper

On Thursday afternoon, April 29th, 1948, funeral services were held in the Baptist Church Plainview for Ira Jasper McCoy, who died in a Morrilton hospital from burns suffered from a gasoline explosion at his sawmill in Plainview. Rev. C. O. Douglass and Rev. Alvine Gilpie conducted the funeral service. Interment was in the Salem Cemetery. He was born July 5, 1888, and died April 26th, 1948 at the age of 59 years.

He is survived by his wife; his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth McCoy; six brothers, Harry, John, Bate, Lem, Leon and Euel. Three sisters, Mrs. Clark Fenstermaker, Mrs. Thurman Cullin and Mrs. Robert Niccum.

DARDANELLE - Mrs. Dorcas Arlene Callan McCray, age 98, of Dardanelle, died Friday, January 11, 1985 at her home. She was the widow of Tom McCray. She was a native of Dardanelle and a member of the Dardanelle First Methodist Church.

McCrory, Clarence Harold

Clarence Harold McCrory, 84, of 909 Booker St., former owner of Piercey Model Market, died Wednesday. He was a Baptist, a founder of the Model Market in the 1940s, past chairman of the Board of Model Markets (later known as Affiliated Food Stores), past president of Musician's Union Local 266, lifetime member of the American Federation of Musicians, past member of the Board of Little Rock's Oakland Cemetery, and former member of the 153rd Infantry Bank of the Arkansas National Guard.

Adaline Coffey McCurdy, age 94 of Dardanelle, died Thursday, January 10, 2008 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born May 24, 1913 in Yell County to the late John Seth and Sarah Cleo Croy Coffey. She was a member of the Dardanelle First Baptist Church, a member of the Show and Tell Club in Dardanelle and a volunteer at Dardanelle Nursing Center for many years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 45 years, Albert McCurdy; sisters, Lavada Benefield, Edna May Jones; brothers, Jack Coffey, George Coffey, Edward Coffey.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Bonnie McCurdy of Dardanelle; sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Ann Ballard of Tulsa, OK, Polly and Delma Merritt of Dardanelle, Betty Scott of Dardanelle; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Betty Coffey of Dardanelle; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; numerous other family and friends.

Joe Wayne McCurdy, 71, of Dardanelle, passed from this life Friday, December 18, 2009. He was born November 3, 1938 in Dardanelle.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Adeline Coney McCurdy.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bonnie McDonnell McCurdy; a daughter, Brenda McCurdy of Russellville; a son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Jodi McCurdy of Jenks, OK; grandchildren, Corey and Gallic Jo McCurdy; a loving extended family, and numerous friends. He was a 1. 957 graduate of Dardanelle High School and Arkansas Tech University. He served in the army and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Services were held Monday at the Webb. Funeral Chapel for longtime Strathmore resident Floyd McCurry, age 68, who died Friday in a Lindsay hospital.

Burial was in the Olive Cemetery. Mr. McCurry had made his home in Strathmore for the last 35 years. He was employed by the Irwin Holworthy Ranches.

Surviving are his widow, Maggie McCurry of Strathmore; three sons, Dub McCurry of Lindsay, Larry McCurry of Fremont; four daughters, Donna Cummings of Lindsay, Loretta Oliveira of Grover City, Juanita Rose of Manteca. DANVILLE - Hoyt R. McCurry, age 70, of Danville died Wednesday, December 28, 1983. He was a retired farmer, and son of the late Claude and Mary McCurry.

McCurry, Lillian Alvis (Luker)

December 12, 1909 - December 26, 2011 Lillian Alvis Luker McCurry, born December 12, 1909, to the late Hila Jane Turner Luker and Alvis L. Luker died December 26, 2011. She was a Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church, Plainview, Arkansas. She attended Yell County School before marrying her husband of forty-six years, the late Rev. Allen T. McCurry. Mrs. McCurry attended Ouachita Baptist College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas and taught in Gassville, Arkansas schools during the nineteen forties. She believed that education and Christianity went hand and hand - one helping the other. During her marriage, she assisted her husband in his mission work and in pasturing churches in Yell County, Perryville, Monticello, Searcy, Conway and Little Rock, Arkansas. She taught Bible studies for fifty-three years and was considered by many as a Bible scholar. Among her many joys in service for her church and her Lord was organizing Women's Mission Societies with the many facets of work with young women and children. She taught Sunday School classes, mission books, sang in the church choir, and ministered to the congregation on all levels including being peacemaker. After the death of her husband, she taught all the adults in her church Bible Studies every Sunday night for thirteen years. She once said, "I am so glad I have spent my life telling people how to get to heaven." She loved music, playing the guitar and piano. At the age of 90 she wrote the words and music to "Glory, Glory, Hallelujah! What a Savior" She taught her children to sing and play the piano at an early age.

She is preceded in death by one daughter, Bernice M. Burns and one granddaughter, Sherrie Lanice McCurry.

Survived by two children, daughter, Laquita Joy Wisner of Star City and son, Allen Vestal Truett McCurry (Pam) of Maumelle. Seven grandchildren; Joy Wisner Graham (Ronnie), John C. Wisner III Esquire (Beth), Angela Wisner Owen (Rodger), Dr. Larry C. Burns (Karen), Dr. Jerry A. Burns (Jackie), Sheila Burns Barnett (Jimmy), Laura Burns Baker (Dr. Todd Baker) and James A. McCurry. Sixteen great-grandchildren; Christopher D. Burns (Phyllis), Brandon L. Burns, Andrea Marie Burns Andrews (Nathan), Shawn C. Burns, Rebecca L. Barnett, Elizabeth D. Barnett, Helen E. Wisner, Jared A. Mrs. Nancy Lucretia Robison McCurry, age 42, of Danville died Sunday, May 23 at her home. Mrs. McCurry was born in Little Rock and was a mother and homemaker.

Mccurry, Rubyann Agness Luker

DUMAS - Rubyann Agness Luker McCurry, born Jan. 10, 1912. Beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, and good friend, Ruby McCurry, died Dec. 7, 2008 after a short illness in Dumas, AR. Ruby, the youngest of seven children, was born in Yell county, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvis Luker and Hila Turner Luker; two brothers, and three sisters, Arthur, Ned Foster, Mary Alice, Grangie Mae and Harriet. Her older sister, Lillian is living in a Cabot Nursing Home. Ruby was also preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Mc-Curry, her oldest son, Carmack Don and his wife, Joyce Starks McCurry. A grandson, Paul Dean McCurry, also preceded her in death.

Ruby is survived by four children, Carol Fawn Sizemore, Billy Dean McCurry, Nanbeth McCurry Boyd and Nancy Garry Sue McCurry Pennington; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The family was Ruby's greatest joy. She was devoted to her church and served as a Sunday School teacher for 30 years and she loved to travel.

Mccurry, Russell

Russell McCurry, 36, a member of the Salem Police Force, was shot to death in Salem, Va, on February 29th. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt McCurry of Danville. Patrolman McCurry was shot while he was guarding a parking lot where there had been several vehicle radio thefts. Two teenagers have been charged in the murder incident in Salem. One other youth is expected to be charged in the incident.

Retired From Navy: McCurry retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years in February of 1975, when he went to work for the police department. He was discharged as a chief petty officer and had been stationed recently in Norfolk. He was a Vietnam veteran.

Wounds One of Suspects: McCurry apparently wounded one of the juvenile suspects in the leg after he was shot once in the chest. He and another patrolman were guarding the parking lot because of a rash of citizens band radios and other items taken from vehicles there.

According to the Salem World-News, here is a condensed sequence of events of the shooting: Shortly after 3:00 a.m., McCurry noticed a suspect entering a car and confronted the suspect. The suspect turned and ran firing at the officer as he attempted to escape. McCurry chased the suspect to a getaway car. As they neared the car, another suspect emerged. That suspect, opened fire on the officer and McCurry also fired. McCurry was struck in the chest with a fatal shot and the second suspect was wounded. Both suspects fled on foot and a third suspect crawled under another vehicle. Another officer, also at the parking lot, fired twice at one of the fleeing suspects but missed. Two of the boys were caught soon after along a bank leading from the parking lot. The third suspect was captured about two hours later. Bond for the youths were set at $100,000 each.

Sgt. Praises McCurry: Salem Police Sgt. H. C. Kingery, a 20-year veteran on the force said that McCurry was a very good friend of his and commented that McCurry was always extremely cautious and one who didn't take unnecessary risks or act before thinking. Sgt. Kingery said that McCurry seemed to enjoy his work. He was a good police officer.

McCurry, was survived by his wife, Mrs. Peggy McCurry; two daughters, Miss Beverly Gay McCurry, and Miss Cheryl Lynn McCurry; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt McCurry of Danville; one brother, Thomas McCurry and one sister, Mrs. Nila Wesner of Arizona.

Mccutcheon, Gerald

Gerald McCutcheon, age 63, of Dardanelle, AR, died Sunday, May 13, 2007 at his home. The son of Welman and Bobbi Tye McCutcheon, he was born November 15, 1943 in Wallville, OK. He was a State Gas Inspector with LP Gas Company for about 14 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gene McCutcheon.

Survivors include a son, Wes & Jonna McCutcheon of Russellville; a daughter, Michelle & Wayne of Hector; five grandchildren; four brothers, Jack McCutcheon of Rogers, Dale McCutcheon of Dardanelle, Kenneth McCutcheon of Russellville and Leslie McCutcheon of Dardanelle.

William Oliver McCutcheon, age 84, of Belleville passed away Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. He was born November 26, 1928 in Hollis, Oklahoma to the late James Floyd & Mary Jane Carpenter McCutcheon. He was an Army Veteran, retired farmer, bus driver and owner and operator of Whiteface Automotive in Belleville, AR and Whiteface, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, William Paul McCutcheon; brother, Wayne McCutcheon.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Melva Joyce Miller McCutcheon; son, Buddy McCutcheon of Odessa, Texas; daughters & sons-in-law, Eva & Randy Duke of Throckmorton, TX, Linda & David Taylor of Belleville; brothers & sisters-in-law, Eldon & Frances Mc- Cutcheon of Downsville, Louisiana, Claymon & Martha McCutcheon of Lubbock, Texas, Melba McCutcheon of New Mexico, Selma (Aunt Midgel) Carpenter of Havana; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and one step-great-grandchild.

Pallbearers included Matthew Carter, Britt Roberts, Cody Parsons, Johnathan Carter, Christopher Carpenter and David Barnhouse. Honorary pallbearers were Memory Lane Coffee Drinkers.
