Welch, James Ray

James Ray Welch, age 75, of Danville, AR died Thursday, March 12, 1998 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. He was born February 17, 1923 at Havana, AR son of the late R. L. and Orpha Ray Welch. He was retired from Continental Grain; he was a Marine Corp Veteran of World War II, having served in four major companies with the 2nd and 3rd Raider Battalions. He was a corporate pilot, past president of the Arkansas Egg Council and a member of the Rotary International.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Wright Welch; four sons and daughters-in-law, James Ray and Carlene Welch of Rogers, Jeffery Paul and Jody Welch of Helena, MT, John and Diane Welch of Hot Springs, AR and Justin and Belinda Welch of Sheridan, AR; one sister, Christene Dearrington of Tulsa, OK; nine granddaughters; two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral service was March 14, 1998 at the Danville United Methodist Church with Rev. Wade Shownes officiating. Burial was in the Havana Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Danville, AR. Welch, Justin Franklin

Justin Franklin Welch of Sheridan, Arkansas, died Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at Sheridan at the age of 48 as the result of an automobile accident. He was born June 28, 1957 at Denton, Texas the son of the late James Ray and Mary Francis Wright Welch. He was a member of Harmony Primitive Baptist Church at Donaldson. "Coach" Welch taught in Newark and Perryville before moving to Sheridan in 1986. He was currently the Senior High boys track and cross country coach, assistant Junior High football coach and was the Art teacher at Sheridan Junior High. In 1994 and 1995 he led the Senior High boys track team to back to back State Championships. He was also a member of the Arkansas Coaches Association. Most of all, "Coach" Welch was a loving husband and a very special "Daddy" to his girls.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: his wife Belinda Gail Becker Welch; three daughters, Whitney Rae, Willow Eve and Wynn Nicole Welch all of Sheridan; three brothers, James Ray Welch of Rogers, Jeffrey Paul Welch of Helena, Montana and John Steven Welch of Lake Hamilton; aunt and uncle: Betty and Mike Fry of Clinton, OK, father and mother-in-law: Joe and Ruth Becker of Russellville, also numerous nieces and nephews, students, and friends.

Funeral services was Friday at First Baptist Church of Sheridan with Bro. Neal Phalan, Jr. officiating. Burial was in Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Sheridan. Welch, March (Mary) Francis

March (Mary) Francis Welch, age 77 of Danville, died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at Chambers Memorial Hospital. She was born May 24, 1925, in Butler, Oklahoma to the late Marvin Lucian and Clara A. Pope Wright. Mrs. Welch taught 3rd grade for 31 years, most of those in the Danville School District. She was a member of the Arkansas Retired Teacher's Association and the Danville United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ray Welch.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, James Ray and Carlene Welch of Rogers, AR, Jeffery Paul and Jody Welch of Helena, Montana, John and Diane Welch of Hot Springs, AR, Justin and Belinda Welch of Sheridan, AR; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and David Fry of Clinton, OK; sister-in-law, Christine Dearrington of Tulsa, OK; 9 granddaughters, 2 grandsons, 5 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Ninard Welcher, age 72, died at her home in Ola, Sunday, October 16, 1949. She was a native of Marion County and a member of the Baptist Church.

Weldon, Eva Elizabeth Sheppard

Baldwyn: Eva Elizabeth Sheppard Weldon, 84, died Saturday 19 May 1990 at the Baldwyn Medical Unit. She was a homemaker, a baby sitter and the widow of Marshal J. S. Weldon. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church and Eastern Star.

Services will be at 2 p. m. today at Waters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Riley, the Rev. Jerry Osburn and the Rev. Sammy Coker officiating. Burial will be in the Baldwyn Masonic Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Eva Weldon Bowden of Baldwyn and Edna Weldon Cheatham of Rome, Ga.; two sons, Nolan D. Weldon of Anniston, Ala., and Samuel D. Slim Weldon Dies Friday -- Rites Held Sunday At Waters Chapel, Baldwyn -- J. S. (Slim) Weldon, age 73, died at 10:10 p. m. Friday 7 Mar 1975 at Baldwyn Medical Unit.

Services were held at 2 p. m. Sunday at Waters Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Baldwyn Masonic Cemetery. Bro. Leo Barker officiated.

Mr. Weldon was a retired Baldwyn Marshall and Street Commissioner where he served for 16 years. He was a member of Baldwyn Baptist Church.

Cpt. James C. Weldon, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milas Weldon of Cedar Creek West was buried at Moore's Chapel, December 30, 1952. J. C. was killed in Korea July 20, 1950.

Weldon, Milas

Man Dies While Driving Truck - Milas Weldon, 57, of Waveland died of a heart attack early this morning while driving his pickup truck on the Lone Pine road north and east of Danville. Mrs. Weldon, who was riding in the truck with him, said that he dented a fender as he crossed a bridge and said that he felt funny. She told him to pull over and stop for a while, but before he could do it he slumped over the wheel. The truck went through a fence and out into a pasture. Mrs. Weldon was not hurt. Weldon, Nolan D.

Services for Nolan D. Weldon, 81, of Oxford will be Wednesday at 11 a. m. at Gray Brown Service & Mortuary Crematory Chapel in Anniston with Rev. Jerry Foote and Dr. Dave Roberts officiating.

Burial will be in Highland Cemetery with Gray Brown Service & Mortuary Crematory in charge. The family will receive friends 6-8 tonight at the funeral home. Mr. Weldon died in Alexander City.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys Kent Weldon; two daughters and their husbands, Renaie and Jim Farish of Greensville, S. C. and Kimberly and Barry Owens of Greer, S. C.; a son, Danny Weldon of Oxford; two step-sons, Don Kent of Munford and Ronald Kent and his wife, Loretta, of Heflin; a brother, Sam Weldon of El Paso, Texas; a sister, Edna Knowles of Oxford; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a caregiver Kevin Whorton.

Pallbearers will be Jim Farish, Barry Owens, Brad Owens, Justin Owens, Lee sterns and Mike Gallahar. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Auditorium Sunday School Class of Gladeview Baptist Church of Saks.

Mr. Weldon, an Arkansas native, had lived in Baldwyn, Miss. before moving to Anniston. He joined the Navy during World War II and served in the South Pacific. He owned and operated the No Me Bowling Lanes for 25 years until his retirement 20 years ago.

Mr. Weldon was preceded in death by his parents, O'Dell and Eva Weldon; a sister, Eva Bowden; and a stepdaughter, Margaret Higginbotham. Funeral arrangements are pending at Myers Chapel for Walter Weldon of Poplar who died this morning in a local hospital.

Survivors include his wife Ruby. Graveside service for Walter Cecil Weldon was held today at Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Terry Williams of Bible Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements were under direction of Myers Chapel.

Weldon, 80, died Tuesday 19 Apr 1983 in a local hospital after a long illness. He was a native of Arkansas and a Porterville resident for 42 years. He was employed as an agricultural laborer.

Surviving are his wife, Ruby Weldon; two step-sons, Grady Paul of Jefferson, Ore. Welker, Frank

Frank Welker, age 64, died at his home in Rover of Hodgkins's disease November 5, 1954 after a year's illness. He moved to Plainview in 1912 and has spent the remainder of his life in this section of the county. He was a member of the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

Welker, Quinton "Red Eye"

Quinton "Red Eye" Welker, age 64, of Rover, AR, died Sunday, December 2, 1990 at a Little Rock Hospital. He was a retired Pipeline Inspector for ArkLa Gas Co. a member of the Rover Baptist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars and served in U. S. Navy during World War II and was a member of Woodmen of the World.

Benjamin Wallace Wells, age 92, of Dardanelle, AR died Monday, May 15, 2006 at Dardanelle Hospital. He was born May 24, 1913 at Yell County to the late Roe and Mary Frances Workman Wells. He was a member of the Centerville First Free Will Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Kathleen Wells, parents, a son, Wallace Ray Wells, grandson, Brian Wells, brother Roscoe Wells and son-in-law, J. D. Parker.

Survivors include two daughters, Ema Lea Coffey of Dardanelle, Frances Parker of Delaware; sister Ruthie Crow of Dardanelle; daughter-in-law, Corelia Wells of Dardanelle; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

Bertha Ann Wells, age 86, of Springfield, OR, formerly of Nimrod, passed away Friday, September 20, 1996 in Eugene, OR. She was born in Perry County, AR July 15, 1910 to the late Carson A. and Millie Flewellen. She was a retired professional cook; Having cooked peach cobbler for President Clinton. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church, in Springfield, OR.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers and the widow of Kie Wells.

Billy B. Wells, age 76, of Hollis, died Tuesday, November 2, 2004, at St. Joseph's Health Center in Hot Springs. He was born July 7, 1928 in Hollis to the late Sammie and Bertha Jones Wells. He was a retired logger and sawmiller, deacon and member of the Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Henry Wells and a granddaughter, DeAnna Dale.

Died In Dardanelle, on the 19th of February, Mrs. C. E. Wells, aged 51 years. Mrs. Wells died of paralysis. She was an old resident of Dardanelle, a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.

Helen Naomi Hill Wells, age 79, of Dardanelle, AR died Sunday, January 6, 2002 at the Dardanelle Hospital. She was born October 26, 1922 in Dardanelle to the late Henry and Helley Moore Hill. She was a retired worker for Tyson Foods, a homemaker and mother and a member of the Centerville Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Pansy Wells of Searcy, Ronnie and Phyllis Wells and Kenneth Wells all of Dardanelle, AR; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and Tommy Mans and Connie and Timmy Hubbard all of Dardanelle, AR; eight grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Service will be today, Wednesday, January 9, 2002 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. Bobby Wells and Rev. David Bishop officiating. She was a homemaker, mother, past Ava, Arkansas school teacher where she taught in a one room schoolhouse. She was a past postmaster of Hollis, AR and a poultry and cattle farmer. She was a member of the Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church where she also played piano.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Henry Wells, a son, Gary Wells; a brother, Larry Cravens; a sister, Joy Pack and a great granddaughter, Cassie Dawn Christian.

Jap Wells, age 95, a resident of Hollis, AR, died Friday, August 13, 1999 at Chambers Memorial Hospital at Danville, AR. He was born on October 6, 1903 at Hollis, AR to Henry and Mary Douthit Wells. He retired as a farmer and was a member of the Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lena Douthit and three brothers, Guy Wells, Sam Wells and Jodie Wells.

Survivors include his wife, Vay Hawks Wells of Hollis; a daughter and son-in-law, Geralene and Bud Humphrey of Hollis, AR; a grandson, Tony Humphrey of Shawano, WI; two great-grandchildren, Samantha Himel and Tonya Humphrey both of Shawano, WI and numerous nieces and nephews.

Wells, Ola Mae Duncan

Ola Mae Duncan Wells, age 95 of Conway, died Sunday, April 1, 2007, at Conway Health and Rehab Center. She was born January 14, 1912, in Black Springs, AR. She was the daughter of William and Myrtle Fox Riley. She was a working mother.

She was preceded in death by her parent; husbands, William "Willie" Duncan, John Wells; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Fay Duncan; son-in-law, Robert Slaughter; grandson, Andrew Duncan; and great granddaughter, Holly Marie Duncan.

Survivors include her daughter, Gertie Slaughter of Conway, son Jack (Cora) Duncan of Stockton, CA, 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great grandchildren.

Wells, Patricia Anelle

Patricia Anelle Wells, age 58, passed away Friday at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, NM. She was born August 25, 1941 to the home of Lewis J. and Opal Beason Terry in Portales, NM where she was reared and attended school. She later married Jim Wells on July 6, 1958 in Portales. She worked as a cook, waitress, seamstress and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lewis Terry; an infant brother, Jimmy Terry a son-in-law, Darryl Buxton.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Wells of Portales; three daughters, Betty and Bill Beckwith, Portales; Sonya Wells and Mike Stout of Portales and Judy Wells Lawrence and fianc Andrew Flores of Fort Sumner; one son, Darryl and Cindy Wells of Portales; her mother, Opal Terry of Portales; two sisters, Edna Fabian of Las Vegas, NV; Winona Wright of Dension, TX; a brother-in-law, David and Emily Wells of Tatum, NM; a sister-in-law, Maverene and Jimmy Garrison of Waveland, AR; 13 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Bryan Wells. Anna Masek Wesley, age 84, of Dardanelle, AR died Monday, October 15, 2001 at her home. She was born September 19, 1917 in Dardanelle, AR to the late Frank and Olga Sevic Masek. She was a retired Valmac employee, a member of the St. Augustine Catholic Church and Catholic Women's Union and a volunteer for the Meals on Wheels Program.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Wesley, who she married on October 27, 1937; a sister, Francis Barboreck and two brothers, Rudolph and Autonin Masek.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Violette Ann and Philip Mullins of Dardanelle, AR; two grandchildren, Todd Renfroe of Fayetteville and Lynette Renfroe of Lawton, OK and many nieces and nephews. A rosary was held Wednesday night at the Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle.

Elena L. Wesley of Dardanelle died Sunday, February 11, 2001 at the Dardanelle Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Horace and Margaret Ella Campbell McQuire, a member of the Gum Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church and a homemaker and mother. She worked for the Jack Boyce Mercantile in Dardanelle and sold tickets for the Joy Theater.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruel Miller; two grandchildren, Tammy Hodge and Ronnie Roberts and a great-granddaughter, Jamie Striby.

Survivors are her husband of 50 years, Robert Wesley; one son, Russ Miller of Layton, Utah; one daughter, Marilyn Roberts of Dardanelle, AR; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

Elmer E. Wesley, age 77 of Dardanelle, died Monday, July 31, 2006 at Dardanelle Hospital. He was born March 27, 1929 at Dardanelle to the late Edward Edwin and Pauline Cinger Wesley. He was an Army Veteran and a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Dardanelle.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charles Wesley, Stanley Wesley, and Robert Wesley.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Emma Grace Cox Wesley of Dardanelle; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Jerry Crowe of Dardanelle; son and daughter-in-law, Josh and Lisa Wesley of Dardanelle; four grandchildren and their spouses, Shane and Kelly Crowe, Dusty and Amber Crowe, Joshlyn Wesley and Jace Wesley all of Dardanelle; three great-grandchildren, RyLee Crowe, ShiDale Crowe and Logan Crowe all of Dardanelle; several nephews, nieces and other family and friends.

Graveside services were held Thursday, August 3, 2006 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Dardanelle with Pastor Larry Johnson officiating. Military Honors were provided by Boyce-Woods VFW Post 3141. Survivors are a niece and husband, Polly and Carter Parson of Dardanelle; two great-nephews, Jason Parson of Dardanelle and Jessie Parson of Russellville; a great-great niece, Katie Parson and a great-great nephew, Anthony Parson.
