Keathley, Mary Nell

Mary Nell Keathley, Longtime Yell County Fair Registrar, Dies - You could always find her on parade day of the Yell County Fair-no matter what the weather. Mary Nell Keathley, 87, of Danville, died on April 3. She served as one of the registrars on Homecoming Parade Day where she was able to visit with many of the returning homecomers. She also served as office manager at the U. S. Forest Service for many years and was a past board director of the Yell County Hospital.

Mrs. Keathley was the daughter of the late longtime Yell County Sheriff, Buford Compton. She was not the only member of her family who helped on Homecoming Day, as her sister, Fanny George, also of Danville, well into her 90 's, has rode in the parade as Parade Marshal for many years.

Mrs. Norvalle A. Keathley, age 74, died Tuesday in the Yell County Hospital after a long illness.

Keathley, Robert Compton

Robert Compton Keathley, age 73, of Danville, died Saturday, August 27, 1988, at St. Vincents Hospital in Little Rock. He was a native of Danville. He was a former owner of the Danville Tractor Company and the manager of Fergeson Keathley farming operation in Yell County. He was a graduate of Arkansas Tech, and the University of Arkansas, a 50 year member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and a 50 year Mason; a past president of the Danville Lions Club; and was Assistant Chief of the Danville Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years. After graduating from the University of Arkansas he was employed by Research Division of United Fruit Company in Guatemala and Honduras, returning to the United States volunteer for the U. S. Navy, serves a Chief Petty Officer during World War II. He was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church, served on the Official Board of trustee is a member of the Building committee. Children of the church called him "Father of the Year" and was the son of the late J. A. and Judia Scott Keathley.

Survivors include his wife", Katharine Ferguson Keathley; one daughter, Mary Frances Brown of Houston, TX; one sister, Mrs. Audrey Caviness of Danville; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Robert and Meredith Brown.

Funeral services were held at the Danville United Methodist Church Tuesday with Rev. Mike Morey officiating. Interment was at Havana Cemetery. Keathley, Robert Luster

Mr. R. L. Keathley, 62, road contractor, died at his home in Danville at 8:40, January 20. He had engaged in farming many years.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, Stewart, Denver and Dickey Keathley of Danville; a daughter, Mrs. Eula Tucker of Mer Rouge, La; a brother, Z. L. Keathley, Danville; a sister, Mrs. Arvie Scisson, Danville; and his mother, Mrs. E. S. Keathley, Danville.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church at 3 p.m. Sunday with services by Rev. W. L. Russel, Methodist pastor at Havana and Belleville. Keathley, Vernie Beatrice

Vernie Beatrice Keathley, age 90, of Danville, AR died June 18, 2003. She was a resident of the Mitchell's Nursing Home, she lived in Belleville, AR prior to moving to the nursing home in 1996. She was born December 9, 1912 at Belleville, AR to the late Thomas Hannibal and Sarah Ella (Gant) Farrow. She was a graduate of the Arkansas Tech University and was a retired elementary school teacher for the Belleville School District for 30 years. She attended the Upper Spring Creek Free Will Baptist Church and was a Charter member of the Upper Spring Creek Extension Homemakers Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Denver L. Keathley; a daughter, Jemima Ann and two brothers, Glenn and Joe Farrow.

Survivors include; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Dorothy Keathley of Belleville, AR and Joe and Julie Keathley of Wichita, KS; seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a sister, Joyce Crownover of Norman, OK.

Funeral service was held June 21, 2003 at the Upper Spring Creek Free Will Baptist Church, Belleville. Burial was in the Upper Spring Creek Cemetery. Keeling, Bonnie Fay

Bonnie Fay Keeling, age 74, of Centerville, AR died Wednesday, March 28, 2001. She was born July 14, 1926 at Hot Springs, AR to the late Clarence Aldrich and Minnie Echols Aldrich Midkiff. She was a member of the Oakland Heights Assembly of God Church in Russellville and was a retired dental assistant.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, and stepfather, Walter Midkiff and a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Gary Debella.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene "Boog" Keeling; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Nancy Keeling of Dover, AR; brother, Ralph Aldrich of Pearcy, AR and three grandchildren, Jaime, Tanner and Tatum Keeling.

Funeral service was March 30 with Rev. Jean Findley Jones officiating at the Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle, AR. Keeling, Jimmy Elton

Jimmy Elton Keeling, age 64 of Dardanelle, formerly of Marianna died Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Dardanelle Retirement Center. He was born March 19, 1943 at Marianna, AR to the late Fred Elden and Vera Tennessee Logan Keeling. He was a retired truck driver and was a past fireman for West Helena. He loved fishing, camping, bluegrass music, his grandchildren and his great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, DeShea Keeling of Palestine; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Garry Thomas of Oil-ton, OK, Patty and Michael Bilbrey of Lynn, AR; two sons and daughter-in-law, Jason and Tiffany Keeling of Russellville, Jamie Keeling of Atkins; two step-children, William Colvin and Tonya Colvin, both of Palestine; thirteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held March 20, 2008 at Atkins Cemetery officiated by Rev. Michael Burden. Pallbearers were Brian Mahan, Tony Reynolds, Barry Downs, Timmy Wyrick, Mike Wyrick and Christopher Keeling. Leonard C. Keeling, age 87, of Centerville, AR died Monday, November 23, 2009 at the Dardanelle Nursing Center.

Keeling, Leonard C.

Leonard C. Keeling, age 87 of Centerville, AR died Monday, November 23, 2009 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. He was born July 5, 1922 at Pope County to the late William Ernest and Nell Terrell Keeling. He was retired from the Arkansas Highway Dept., a U. S. Navy Veteran and served on the U. S. S. Pensacola CA 24 during WW II and a member of the Centerville Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Susanne Keeling and granddaughter Kande Gail Keeling.

Survivors include his wife Mildred Keeling; son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Donna Keeling; grandson and wife, John David and Carla Keeling all of Centerville; two great grandsons; two brothers Eugene and Ann Keeling and J. W. Keeling; a sister, Sally and Bud Johnston and lots of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Keeling, Mildred Lucille (Brazier)

Mildred Lucille Keeling, age 87 of Centerville, died Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Dardanelle Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born February 6, 1923 at Mt. George to the late Charlie and Mae Tucker Brazier.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard C. Keeling; a granddaughter, Kande Keeling; four brothers, Daulton, Ray, Reece, and Lawton Brazier; three sisters, Evie, Lavon and Geneva.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Donna Keeling of Centerville; a grandson and daughter-in-law, John David and Carla Keeling of Centerville; three great grandsons, Caleb Keeling, Conner Keeling and Brandon Adams all of Centerville; sister- in-law, Sally Johnston and husband Bud of Little Rock; one brother-in-law, Eugene "Boog" Keeling and wife Ann of Centerville; many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.

Keeling, Nellie Leora

Nellie Leora Keeling, age 95, formerly of Centerville, AR died Friday, May 28, 1998 in Roland, AR. She was born December 12, 1902 in St. Joe, AR to the late John W. and Mary Terrill. She was a homemaker, mother and a member of the Centerville Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Keeling and a daughter, Verlie Pearl Keeling.

She is survived by three sons, Leonard C. Keeling and Ernest Eugene Keeling of Ola and John Keeling of Oklahoma; a daughter, Sally Johnston of Roland, AR; a sister, Bernice Fowler of Centerville, AR; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Dardanelle Boy Dies of Leukemia - Danny Keenan, age 6, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Keenan, died Monday in Boston, Mass. Danny has been in Boston for several weeks taking treatment for leukemia.

"Pete" Ellis L. Keener, age 89 of Plainview, died Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Fort Smith. He was born July 12, 1919 in Onyx, AR to the late William and Nellie Kirby Keener. He was a WWII Army Veteran, a logger and a member of American Legion.

Clinton Clyde Keener, age 83 of Perryville, AR, died Tuesday, March 16, 2004. He was born November 1, 1920, in Onyx, AR, a son of Odie Keener and Nellie Sconce Keener. He was the widower of Pearline Penny Keener. He was an Army World War II veteran and a heavy equipment operator for McGeorge Construction Company, and the U. S. Forestry Service.

Keener, Earl R.

Earl R. Keener, age 93, of Russellville, AR died Saturday, November 14, 2009 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. The son of Odie and Nellie Bell Sconce Keener, he was born November 7, 1916 in Onyx, Yell County, Arkansas. He married Flora Forrest on June 22, 1945 in Plainview. He was a member of Bakers Creek Baptist Church, the Nail Benders of Arkansas and Plainview Masonic Lodge 641. He enjoyed bird hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Judy Terry, Blanch Godwin and Norma Dale; one brother, Clyde Keener; nephew, Lance Cunningham; niece, Betty Sullivan; and mother-in-law, Floy Forrest.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Flora Keener; two sisters, Mildred Cunningham of Plainview and Mary Jo Jones of Seven Bays, WA; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral was November 16, 2009 at First Baptist Church at Plainview with Rev. Doug White and Rev. Monroe Hunt officiating. Frances Angelique "Angie" Keener, age 46, of Dover, AR died Saturday, December 2, 2006. She was born September 9, 1960 at Russellville to William Paul and Frances Kay Pyle Keener. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Inola, OK and was a cheerleader and majorette while attending high school in Dardanelle.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Kay Keener.

Survivors include her daughter, Dangie Kay Wingo of Dover; a son Michael Paul Parks of Dardanelle, AR; her father, William Keener of Inola, OK; a brother, Rusty Paul Keener of Russellville; a sister, Ella Jayne Keener of Dover and numerous other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held today, Wednesday, December 6, 2006 at 2:00 p. m. at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Pastor Jared Higginbotham officiating. Interment will be in Bells Chapel Cemetery in Atkins, AR. Pallbearers will be Rusty Keener, Shay Maggard, Roy Pyle, Joe Lynch, Michael Parks and Chris Wingo. Keener, Glyda Swaim

Glyda Swaim Keener, age 96, of Onyx, died Thursday, July 24, 2003. She was born on February 27, 1907 at Aly, the daughter of Otis Polk Swaim and Jodie Rainwater Swaim. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Democratic Party.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Orr Bates, and her second husband, Jess Keener.

She is survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

Services were Saturday, July 26, 2003 in the Aly Community Church with Bob Fallen officiating. Interment was in Aly Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Pallbearers were Fred Swaim, Jr. Ricky Lee, Kenneith Swaim, Charlie Yates, Travis Swaim and Royce Swaim. Honorary were Fred and Willa Jo Bleese and the employees of Crown Trace Villa. Keener, Henderson Monroe

Henderson Monroe Keener was born January 13, 1870, in Hambleton County, Tenn. Died April 5, 1941, age 71 years 2 months and 28 days. In December, 1870 he came with his parents to Yell County where he grew to manhood and spent the greater part of his life near Ranger. He professed religion at the age of 20 and was united with the Methodist Episcopal Church South living in that faith until death.

Life was united in marriage to Addie Kirkpatrick (who preceded him in death in July 1892). To this union was born seven children, Eunice Havner, Blue Ball Arkansas, Mary Lowery, deceased, Lula Brand, Belleville, Gentry Keener, Danville, Ivar Barnett, Maysville, Oklahoma, Willie Rone, St. Joseph, Louisiana, and Willie Barnett, Danville.

Keener, Herman Guy

Herman Guy Keener, age 61, of Pottsville died Wednesday, December 21, 1983 in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Little Rock. He was a native of Atkins, the son of E. H. Keener of Pottsville and the late Irene Reed Keener. He was a retired owner and operator of Keener Grocery Store at Pottsville, a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Air Force, and a member of the American Legion and Pottsville United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to his father, include two sons, Herman David Keener of Russellville and William Donnie Keener of Huntsville; a daughter, Mrs. Avona Chansley of Pottsville; three brothers, Grady Harold Keener of Visalia, Calif. Donald Beiman Keener of Marshall, Mo. and Thomas Reed Keener of St. Louis, Mo. and six grandchildren. His wife, Mrs. Floy Taylor Keener, preceded him in death February 9, 1983.

Funeral will be at 2 p. m. Friday at the Pottsville United Methodist Church by the Rev. Harold Brent and the Rev. Thomas Morris. Keener, Jackson Will

Funeral services for Jackson Will Keener, age 71, resident of Onyx who was injured fatally in an auto accident near Williams, Ariz., last week, were conducted Tuesday at Steve Baptist Church by Rev. J. F. Perry, Plainview. Burial was held in the Shed Cemetery in charge of Cornwell Funeral Home.

Mr. Keener and two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Yates, Onyx, and Miss Jennie Keener, Onyx, and two grandchildren were enroute to California, at the time of the accident.

A native of Yell County, he is survived by two sons, Jess Keener, Onyx and Ellis Keener, Quincy, Calif.; two daughters, who were with him at the time of the accident; two sisters, Mrs. Addie Partain, Dardanelle and Mrs. Ola Partain, Plainview; two brothers, Odie of Plainview and R. Jennie Bell Keener, age 97, of Plainview, AR died Wednesday, May 19, 1999 at Fort Smith, AR. She was born on December 13, 1901 in Steve, Yell County, Arkansas to the late will and Nellie Kirby Keener. She was a retired receptionist for Doctors Herr and Bull at the Plainview Clinic.

Survivors include one son, Vernon Keener of Fort Smith, AR; a brother, Pete Keener of Plainview, AR; a sister, Essie Yates of Plainview, AR; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Jesse Clay Keener, age 81, of Steve, AR died Monday November 3, 1986 at the Yell County Hospital in Danville. He was a native of Aly, AR, son of the late William and Nellie Kirby Keener. He was a World War II veteran and was retired from the Forest Service and a member of the Baptist Church.

Keener, John A. "Albie"

John A. "Albie" Keener, 94, of Little Rock, AR formerly of Russellville, AR died Friday, December 24, 2004 at Baptist Hospital in Little Rock. He was the son of Orlando and Willie Myrtle (Harris Keener, he was born November 10, 1910 in Ranger, Arkansas. He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II serving with the 5th Army, Company D, 301st Quartermaster Battalion in Europe and Africa. He was a retired barber with Fort Roots V. A. Hospital. He enjoyed gardening and volunteering in the nursing homes in Russellville cutting residents hair, and he was an avid fan of professional baseball after playing the game in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a longtime member of the West Side Church of Christ and also became a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ in Little Rock.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian Myers Keener, two sisters, Mildred Crites and Lola Woods and a brother, Oswell Keener.

He is survived by wife, Geraldine Keener, Little Rock, AR; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda & James Ammel of Little Rock, AR; two stepsons and step daughter-in-law, Alfred and Sue McGhee, Little Rock, AR, Samuel McGhee, Lemore, CA; four step-grandchildren; several step great grandchildren.

Lola L. Keener, age 85, a resident of Plainview, AR died Thursday, December 11, 1997 at Chambers Memorial Hospital at Danville, AR. She was born on May 22, 1912 at Yell County, AR to Newton and Lizzie Lowery. She was a homemaker, member of the First Baptist Church of Plainview and the Danville Sr. Citizen Center.
