Hopper, Sammye C.

Sammye C. Hopper, age 74 of Russellville, died Friday, April 25, 2003 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. The daughter of Carl and Floy Marie Scarborough Collins, she was born July 4, 1928 in Ola. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Arkansas Tech University. Sammye taught fourth grade in area Russellville elementary schools including Oakland Heights from 1960-64 and Sequoyah from 1969 until her retirement in 1985. She was a lifetime member of the Sequoyah PTA and a member of the Arkansas Tech Dame's Club. She was a member of the Arkansas Education Association and the First Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Harry L. Collins and her husband, Julian A. Majors.

Survivors include 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Julie David Pounders of Ola, AR, Sally Sacrey of Russellville, AR; 3 grandchildren, Olivia and John Pounders of Ola, AR, Michael Sacrey of Russellville, AR.

Funeral service was Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at the First Baptist Church in Russellville officiated by Rev. Tom Walker. Burial was in Sandlin Cemetery at Ola under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service. Memorials may be made to Gideons International or First Baptist Church Building Fund. Hopper, William Larry

William Larry Hopper, 79 of Plainview, AR, formerly of Fort Smith, died Saturday, August 25, 2012. He was born on July 25, 1933 in Havana, AR. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and a retired electrical engineer for Schlumberger. Private family services will be held at a later date, he will be cremated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fentress Mortuary in Fort Smith.

He is survived by his wife Betty, of the home; a daughter, Leisa Gramlich of Fort Smith; a son, Steven Hopper of Memphis, TN; two brothers, Bid Hopper of Plainview, AR and Monte Hopper of Avon, Connecticut and three grandchildren. Hopper, Winfred

Last rites were held Sunday afternoon at Plainview for Winfred Hopper, Plainview banker, who died May 12, 1960, at his home from a heart ailment.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia Fox Hopper and three sons.

He was 53 years old and a member of the Methodist Church, and Masonic Orders.

Hopson, Genie Nicole

(December 30, 1988 - September 24, 2011) Nicole Hopson Genie Nicole Hopson, age 22 of Dardanelle, Arkansas, formerly of Perryton, Texas went to be with Jesus on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Arkansas Children's Hospital in Little Rock. She was born December 30, 1988 at Liberal, Kansas to Michael Wayne Hopson and Deb Hopson Hvarven. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Perryton, Texas where she was an honor star in the Missionette Program. June 2004, she and her family moved to Russellville, Arkansas where she attended Russellville High School and was a consumer at Star Industries. She graduated high school in 2007. August 2009 the family moved to Dardanelle and attended the First Assembly of God Church in Dardanelle where she was baptized on July 29, 2011. Nicole really loved the Lord and greatly anticipated that first face to face encounter. She participated in the Equestrian Zone Therapy Program and she loved playing bingo with her grandmother and her friends at Southlawn apartments. Nicole never met a stranger. She loved people and helping others and she stole the heart of everyone she met. She also loved cats and will be greatly missed by Lucky and Punk.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Vernon Hopson, Genie Hopson Holsted and her cousin Shay Lyn Ward.

Survivors include her mother, Deb Hvarven of Dardanelle, father, Michael Hopson of Texas; Grandparents, Joyce Ward of Russellville, Arkansas and Don Ward Sr. of Hiawatha, Kansas; one sister, Stacy Rich and Husband Cody of Perryton, Texas; one brother, Jeff Wells of Clay Center, Kansas; three nieces, Afton, Diondra and Jaelyn Rich all of Perryton, Texas and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00A.M., Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at Dardanelle First Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Eric Martin officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2011 from 6:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, at Clay Center, Kansas. Jimmie Ray Hopson age 77 of Dardanelle died Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 7, 1935, at Dover to the late Elmer and Lucy Mae Johnson Hopson. He was a member of the Dardanelle First Presbyterian Church. He loved traveling by motorhome, music, playing his guitar, watching the Weather Channel, sleeping and snoring in his recliner and, most of all, kissing his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Dewel and Arnie Hopson, and his first wife, Betty Ann Hopson.

Horn, Alice

Mrs. Alice Horn, age 76, wife of A. G. Horn, died early Friday at a Russellville hospital. She was born in Yell County and spent all of her life on Chickalah Mountain. She was a Missionary Baptist.

She is survived by four sons. Herbert and Calvin Horn of Wewoka, Okla., Verl Horn of Chickalah and Lee Horn of Los Angeles; a foster son, Arlon Horn of The College of the Ozarks at Clarksville; two daughters, Mrs. W E. Horn, Amy Marie

Amy Marie Horn was born on February 3, 1909 to Joe Bob Horn and Lettie Taylor in Tatetown, AR. She passed from this life to a better one on June 13, 2002, at the age of 93 years, 4 months and 10 days. Amy attended school-at Waltreak, AR. She married Tom Pool on June 10, 1928 in Yell County, AR, and from this union two daughters were born, Ruth Jeanette Sparks and Betty Jean Houlette.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Bob and Lettie Horn, as well as her stepmother, Nancie Marlow Horn; six brothers, Elbie, Baxter, Leslie, Recil, Troy, and Birlas John; three half-brothers, Ralph, Ray and Merrel, and a hair-sister, Imogene.

She is survived by her youngest half-brother Opal (Tobe) Horn of Danville, AR; her daughters and their husbands, Ruth Jeanette and Kenneth Sparks, and Betty Jean and Orvel Houlette; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren with another due in August. Amy was blessed on her 93rd birthday with the birth of her first great-great-great granddaughter, Taylor Leigh Cops.

After having worked at Humpty Dumpty and AMC for over 30 years, Amy retired and became a "Jet-set nanny" for Bryan and Tina Egolf. Amy cared for their children, Bryan Jr. and Adrian, who came to love her as their own grandmother. She had been a member of Kentucky Avenue Baptist Church since 1948.

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 17, 2002 at Kentucky Avenue Baptist Church. Services were officiated by her pastor and her nephew, Dennis Horn of Danville, AR. Anna Lea "Spoony" Horn, age 89 of Dutch Creek, passed away January 19, 2016 in Hospice care at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville. She was born June 22, 1926 to the late Wash and Lena (Miller) Hudson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Opal (Tobe) Horn; brothers William, Ted, Leon, and Robert Hudson; sister Ola Phillips; sons-in-law, Roger Gunter; David Small and grandchild, Shauna Nadine Stewart.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Opal & Marilyn Horn; Lewis & Deborah Horn of Dutch Creek; daughters, Linda Gunter of Dover; Patsy Small of Danville; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Bobby E. Horn, age 68, of Hot Springs died Tuesday, February 26, 2002 at the V. A. Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born on November 29, 1933 in Waltreak, Arkansas to the late Buford B. and Edna Earl Damon Horn. He was a 1951 graduate of Danville High School and retired from the United States Air Force in 1973.

He was preceded in death by his wife Yuwa Horn.

Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Dorothy Horn of Danville; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Dave Davis of St. Paul, Arkansas; one nephew and four nieces.

Calvin Ray Horn, age 80, of Dutch Creek, Yell County, Arkansas died Monday, October 29, 2001 at his home in Dutch Creek. Mr. Horn was born May 2, in 1921 in Tate Town, Scott County, Arkansas to the late Joe Bob and Nancy K. Morrow Horn. He was a retired farmer; a WWII decorated veteran and a member and deacon of the Mt. Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by nine brothers and two sisters.

Carl Wilson Horn, 86, of Danville, died Thursday, January 12, 2007, at his home. Born August 1, 1920, in the community of Shark, he was the son of the late Arch and Mae Orr Horn. He was a farmer and a member of the Revelry Primitive Baptist Church in Magazine.

He was preceded in death by his son, Carl Jimmy Lee Horn and a great granddaughter, Abagayle James.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Priscilla Mae Keith Horn; son and daughter-in-law, Roger Dean and Jane Horn of Dutch Creek; daughters and son-in-law, Kathryn Horn Brown of Russellville, Jonie Carol and Johnny Davenport of Dutch Creek; brother, Charles Horn of Cape Girardeau, MO; sisters, Betty Gann and Louise Jenkins both of Wagner, OK, Bennie Bennett of Tulsa, OK, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. DANVILLE - Dennis Horn, age 70, of Route 1 Belleville (Chickalah Mountain) died Monday, December 22, 1980 at University Hospital at Little Rock. He was a retired farmer and was the son of the late James and Ollie Rutledge Horn.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Louise Foster.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Della Gilman Horn; three sons, Donald Horn of Van Buren, Winford Horn of Hawaii and Roger Horn of Little Rock; a brother, J. V. Horn of Ft. Smith; three sisters, Mrs. Amy Pickens and Mrs. Dorothy Walters of California, and Mrs. Naomi Cowger of Chickalah, and seven grandchildren.

Funeral was today at Chickalah Mountain Church by Hulan Wiser. Burial was in Mountain Springs Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service. Horn, Edna Earl Damon

Mrs. Edna Earl Damon Horn, age 91, of Danville, AR, died Monday, December 13, 1999 at Mitchell Nursing Home in Danville, AR. She was born December 19, 1907 in the Dutch Creek community, Yell County, Arkansas to the late Henry A. and Eliza Jane Walker Damon. She was a homemaker and mother and attended the Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Buford B. Horn; four brothers, Jesse Damon, Jim Damon, Thurman Damon and Clarence Damon; three sisters, Helen Watson, Anna Damon and Katie Pool and a daughter-in-law, Yuwa Horn.

She is survived by, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Herbert and Dorothy Horn of Danville and Bobby Horn of Little Rock, AR; one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Dave Davis of St. Paul, AR; one sister, Elizabeth Havner of Danville, AR; one grandson, Quinton Tougaw of Fayetteville, AR; four granddaughters, Cyndy Johnson of Fayetteville, Melissa Tougaw of Conway, Jennifer Langford of Russellville and Margaret Strickland of Little Rock, AR; four great-grandchildren, Megan and Kent Strickland of Little Rock, AR and Savannah and Emily Langford of Russellville.

Services will be Thursday, December 16, 1999 at 10:00 a. m. United Methodist Church in Danville with Rev. David Hawkins officiating. Horn, Geraldine Pryor

Mrs. Geraldine Pryor Horn, age 76, of Woodstock, GA, died Wednesday, October 29, 1997. She was born in Bristow, OK and grew up in Stroud, OK. She was a homemaker and loved crafts, camping, fishing and her dog, Prince. She and her husband Lee spent many years of retirement in Roseburg, OR.

She is survived by her son, Don Horn, who was quarterback in the NFL for nine years and a member of the World Champion Super Bowl II Green Bay Packer, his wife, Barbara, 3 grandchildren, Angie Kersey of Colorado Springs, Co, Erica Horn of Woodstock, GA and Ryan Horn of Boone, NC and several nieces and nephews. Her brother Emmitt Pryor and sister Ruby Mae preceded her in death.

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, November 22, at 12:00 noon on Chickalah Mountain in Danville, AR. Horn, Herbert Sydney "Herb"

WEWOKA - Graveside funeral services for longtime Wewoka resident Herbert Sydney "Herb" Horn are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday at Holdenville Cemetery. Harold McRay will officiate; burial is under the direction of Stout Funeral Home.

Horn died Friday at Holdenville General Hospital at the age of 94. He was born Feb. 23, 1905, in Belleville, Ark., to A.G. and Alice (Joiner) Horn. He was raised in the Yell County area and moved to Wewoka in 1945. He worked in the service station business until his retirement in 1971. Horn married Ora Pearl Pickens on Oct. 31, 1931 in Yell County.

She survives him of the home. Horn, Jewel Whala

Jewel Whala Horn, age 86, of Modesto, CA died October 18, 1999 at Evergreen Convalescent Hospital in Modesto. She was born October 15, 1913 and was a native of Bluffton, AR. She was a psychiatric technician for the State of California (hospital) for 17 1/2 years and was a member of Big Valley Community Church.

She is survived by two children, Johnnie L. McConnell of Oroville and Mary L. Bowden of Modesto; one sister, Nora C. Whala of Modesto; 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

Jimmy Horn, age 63, of Danville died Tuesday at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born September 28, 1941, in Dutch Creek, Arkansas. He was a truck driver for Wayne Poultry.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Gail Kitchens Horn.

JW Horn, age 67, of Danville passed away April 16, 2016, at the Fayetteville V.A. Hospital. He was born March 6, 1949, in Russellville, AR, to the late Calvin R. & Beatrice Horn. He was an Army Veteran. He was a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Primitive Baptist Church and the Dutch Creek Volunteer Fire Department.

Leon Horn, 47, of Gilchrist, Tex. was killed in a head-on collision in Gilchrist at about 6 p.m. last Wednesday. He was a former resident of Dutch Creek in Yell County. Mr. Horn had stopped at the curb to pick up a passenger when he was hit by a car occupied by two sailors. One of the men in the other car was killed and the other is in critical condition. Mr. Horn was dead upon arrival at a Galveston hospital.

On April 2, 2003, Lila Fay Horn peacefully went home to be with her Lord. She lived the first 35 years of her life in Yell County before moving to California where she lived until recently moving to Texas. A member of the Primitive Baptist Church, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carlis Horn.

PAIGE, Texas - Michael Dwain Horn, age 27, of Paige, Texas, formerly of Yell County, was killed in an automobile accident Saturday, July 12, 1986 at Paige.

Mr. Jess (Jake) Horn, 53, Danville, dropped dead at his home Monday from a heart attack.

He is survived by his wife, Mary, five daughters, Mary Ruth, Rena Dell, and Julia, Chicago, Ill., Evelyn, Texarkana and Rebecca of the home; four sons, Earnest, David and Elwyn, Chicago, John L., Missouri, a sister, Mrs. Ethel Knight, Texas, and two brothers, Sanford, Little Rock, and Eulis. He was laid to rest Wednesday in the Danville cemetery with the services by Rev. S.C. Simpson, Pastor of the Havana Baptist church. The flowers were many and beautiful.
