Hughes, John Robert

John Robert Hughes, age 49, of Ola died Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at his home. He was born October 7, 1965 at Detroit, MI Terrence Hughes and Patricia Kosman. He loved to watch football, especially the Pittsburg Steelers.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Survivors include his father, Terrance Hughes of Indiana; one son, Shawn Dorsett of Indiana; one daughter, Savannah Hughes of Pottsville; one stepson, Shannon Dellapelle of Pottsville; one brother, David Hughes of Indiana and one sister, Branda Dill of Indiana.

Leoda Gimlin Hughes, age 85, of Waldron, AR died Friday, September 6, 2002 at the Waldron Nursing Home. She was a homemaker, Baptist and widow of Cecil Hughes and Garland Gimlin.

She is survived by a son, Bobby Gimlin of Lake Hinkle, AR; a grandson, Bobby Joe Gimlin of Greenwood, AR and several nieces and nephews.

PLAINVIEW - Roy Elmer Hughes, age 77, of Plainview died Sunday, October 20, 1985, at his home. He was a retired merchant, son of the late Jess and Mary Harrod Hughes, and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred Baker Hughes; a son, R. J. Hughes of Glenwood; a sister, Bell Caston of Eugene, Ore.; four grand-children, and four great grandchildren.

DARDANELLE - Jessie Thomas Huie, age 71, of Little Rock, formerly of Dardanelle, died Saturday, February 15, 1986 at Fountainbleau Nursing Home at Little Rock. He was a native of Enloe, Texas, a retired farmer, veteran of World War II, son of the late R. E. Huie and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Sally Griffin Huie of Little Rock; two brothers, the Rev. Bob Huie of Little Rock and R. E. Huie of Ropesville, Texas, and five sisters, Helen Maynard and Evelyn Allen of California, and Ann Millsap, Doyle White and Melba Jordan of Texas.

Carmel G. Hull, age 96, of Dardanelle, AR died Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at Russellville Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born December 14, 1906 in Havana, AR to the late Marcus P. and Sally Elsie Reynolds Caldwell. She was a mother, homemaker and a member of the Unity Missionary Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Hull; two sons, Eldridge Wilton and James Hull; three brothers, Ben, Reece and Henry Caldwell and two sisters, Mae Martin and Maxine Caldwell.

She is survived by a daughter, Markie Ward of Dardanelle, AR; a brother, Bill Caldwell of Little Rock, AR; a sister, Mary Martin of Dardanelle, AR; two granddaughters and two great grandchildren.

Funeral service was June 21, 2003 at the Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. Horace Hollis, Bro. Jim Caldwell and Rev. Jay Dockins officiating. Born in Yell County, August 2, 1885, died June 14, 1941 at the age of 55 years, 10 months and 12 days, at Tulsa, Okla., in the home of her step daughter, with cancer. She had been in bad health for several years but seemed to regain her health until the last six months. Married to Sam Hull, she lived in and around Danville, for several years.

Survivors besides the husband are Denton Hull, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Mrs. Leonne Nichols and Miss Irene Hull, Pine Bluff, and step children Buck Hull, Buford Hull, Mrs. Fred Keiser and Mrs. Madge Massey all of Tulsa, Okla., father and step mother, Rev. and Mrs. G.W. Denton of Little Rock; two brothers, Arvel of Webbers Falls, Okla.; Pelham of Trona, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Chessie Page of Little Rock and Miss Mary Denton of Jonesboro, Arkansas; one granddaughter and several step-grandchildren.

Evelyn W. Hulsey, age 94 of Danville, AR died Wednesday, December 31, 1997 at Mitchell Nursing Home in Danville, AR. She was born April 20, 1903 in Arkansas to the late Willie J. and Bettie E. Sims Willcutt. She was the widow of William Burks and Grady Hulsey.

She is survived by two sisters, Dazzle Shankle and Faye Whitley both of Oklahoma and several nephews and nieces.

William "Bill Hulsey, age 70 of Ola, AR died Sunday, September 29, 2002 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. He was born March 17, 1932 in Ola to the late James and Sena Coker Hulsey. He was a retired asphalt mixer and a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Operators Engineers Union and a Navy Korean War Veteran.

Jesse Herman Humphrey, age 81, a resident of Russellville, died Sunday, March 23, 1997 at Stella Manor Nursing Center at Russellville. He was born on November 16, 1915, at Russellville, to Jess and Ethel Motley Humphrey. He was owner and operator of Humphrey Funeral Service. His affiliations include membership in the Russellville Masonic Lodge 274 F&AM, where he received his 50 year Masonic pin, a founding member of the Pope County Ambulance Board, the Arkansas Funeral Directors Association, the Russellville Noon Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. He was a member of the West Side Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Louie Humphrey.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Kate English Humphrey of Russellville; son and daughter-in-law, Jim Bob and Betty Humphrey of Russellville; three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jennifer and James Humphrey all of Russellville; two brothers, Max Humphrey of Lubbock, TX and J. D. Humphrey of Russellville.

Funeral service was March 26 at the Humphrey Chapel officiated by Mr. Bruce Grice and assisted by Rev. Jesse B. Rye. Burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Park at Russellville. Ola Mae Humphrey, age 70, a resident of Hollis, AR died Saturday, August 16, 1997 at University Medical Center at Little Rock, AR. She was born on May 5, 1927 at Deberry, AR to Felix and Nancy Alleen Brown Hamilton. She was a retired beautician and member of the Valley Home Missionary Baptist Church. She was the widow of the late Dwight Humphrey and preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two sons, Dwight Eddie Humphrey of Hot Springs, AR and Larry W. Humphrey, Reuben

Reuben Humphrey, age 92, of Rover died Sunday morning, October 12, 1969, at a Yell county nursing home. He was a native of Hollis, a retired school teacher and postmaster and the son of the late Anderson and Savanna Howering Humphrey. He was a member of the Rover Baptist Church for'62 years.

Survivors include one son, Sherman Humphrey of Kansas City, Mo.; two daughters, Mrs. Sybil Pugh of Rover and Mrs. Glenn McBride of Lancing, Mich, one sister, Mrs. Lue Denmore; of Shawnee, Okla.; one half-sister, Mrs. Myrtle Sutton of Oklahoma; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Effie Delanie Avery Ensey Humphreys, age 78 of Booneville, died Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at her daughters home in Booneville. She was born August 14, 1924 in Danville, Arkansas to the late Herbert and Agnes Wilson Avery. She was a retired line worker for Wayne Poultry in Danville, a home-maker and mother, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Muldrow, Oklahoma.

She was preceded in death by her father, Isom Keener, mother and step-father Mary Freeman Keener Pennington and Herman Dewey Pennington.

James Humphreys, age 79, died at his home at Gravelly Hill on Wednesday, February 21. He had been a resident of Yell County for 74 years and of Gravelly for 46 years. James O. "Bob" Humphreys, age 76, a resident of Plainview, AR died Sunday, May 4, 1997 at John McClellan Memorial VA Medical Center at Little Rock. He was born on October 31, 1920 at Hollis, AR to Arthur and Annie Moss Humphreys. He was a retired cement mason and a farmer. He was an Army Veteran in the 354th infantry fought and rolled through Europe with General Patton; he received a Bronze Star in the crossing of the Rhine River Battle.
