The angels in Heaven are smiling today for an angel has come home, Rutha Ellen Potter age 84 of Aly, died Thursday, December 22, 2005, at Chambers Memorial Hospital at Danville. She was a housewife and a member of Aly Church. She was the wife of the late Roscoe Potter, and the daughter of the late Orville and Lura Lamb Qualls of Story, and Grandmother of the late Rodney J. Potter.
Survivors include her six children, one son, Carl Potter of Aly, five daughters, Ruby Yett of Story, Rita Godwin and Carol Blees of Mountain Pine, Janice Caldwell of Aly, Judy Boothe of Centerville. Three brothers, Cleo Qualls, Laintus Qualls, Sims, AR. Windell Qualls, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, three sisters, Gearldine Pendergrass of Farmersville, CA, Ellastene Spurling of Oden, Janet Godwin, Story; 12 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Ruth s life was her family and her greatest joy was the time as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her legacy is one of kindness and helpfulness to others that will be remembered for many years to come. She was loved by all who knew her.
Services were held Monday, December 26, 2005 at 2:00 p. m. at the Aly Church with Reverend Jimmy Scott and Reverend Josh Harper officiating. Burial was in Aly Cemetery. S. C. "Red" Potter, age 88, of Danville, AR, formerly of Aly, AR, died Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. The son of Joe and Belle Marcrum Potter, he was born February 23, 1920 in Onyx, AR.
He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Otto Potter, Burl Potter, Roscoe Potter, Woodrow Potter, Waco Potter, Earnest Potter, Perman Potter and one sister, Ethel Rowland. He will be missed by many friends and family.
He is survived by twenty eight nieces and nephews.

Elsie E. Potts, age 74, a resident of Ola, AR died Friday, December 31, 1999 at Chambers Memorial Hospital at Danville, AR. She was born on April 25, 1925 at Hollis, AR to Virgil and Lena Wells Douthit. She was a homemaker and a member of the Ola Assembly of God Church.
She was the widow of the late Limmie Potts and preceded in death by her parents, one son, Charles Potts and one brother, Eugene Douthit.
Survivors include, three daughters, Glenda Terry of Hagarville, AR, Wanda Young of Forest Hill, LA and Marilyn Reeves of Fort Smith, AR; eight grandchildren, Bert Young, Tiffany Young, Alica and Allison Terry, April, Katlyn and Kolyn Turnbow and Shelby Potts and one brother, George Hawks.

Euell Edward "Shorty" Potts, of Ola, AR died Monday, September 15, 2003 at the Atkins Nursing Center in Atkins, AR. He was born in Yell County, on June 8, 1925, son of the late William Charles and Laura Mae Williams Potts. He was a retired carpenter, had worked for 20 years before retiring from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Reba Kidder Potts; a daughter, Debra Jean Potts of Ola and a granddaughter, Deanna Nicole "Nikki" Potts of Ola.

Laudell Potts, age 76, a resident of Ola, AR died Wednesday, October 29, 1997 at Yell County Nursing Home at Ola, AR. He was born on December 14, 1920 at Nimrod Community, AR to William and Laura Mae (Williams Potts. He married Elsie (Douthit) on January 2, 1946. He was a retired plumber and worked at the Ola Water Works. He attended the Assembly of God church.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Reba Potts, age 74 of Ola, died Thursday, December 4, 2003 at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, AR. She was born on September 5, 1929 in Nimrod, Arkansas, daughter of the late Lomenzo and Ella Morrow Kidder. She was a mother and homemaker, a member of the Ola Church of Christ and an avid quilter.
She was the widow of Euell Edward "Shorty" Potts, and also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Kidder.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra Jean Potts of Ola and a granddaughter, Deanna Nicole Nikki" Potts, of Ola; a niece, Pat Kidder of El Dorado, Arkansas.

George L. Poulos, age 82, a resident of Plainview, AR, died Sunday, December 14, 1997 at the Dardanelle Hospital. He was born on June 7, 1915 at Ola, AR to Peter and Cutie Mercer Poulos. He was a retired Chef with Holly's Restaurant in Gardenia, CA. He was a U. S. Army Veteran and was a member of the VFW at Delaware. He was a member of the Plainview Free Will Baptist Church.

Former Danville Publisher Dies - J. Carrol Pound, age 50, former publisher of the Danville Democrat, died August 21, 1951 at a Veterans Administration Hospital in Los Angeles following a long illness. He was born and raised in Danville and was the son of Mrs. Lillie Pound of Danville and the late T. L. Pound, long time publisher of the Danville Democrat. He was a veteran of World War I.
He is survived, in addition to his mother, by one son, Gene Lee Pound of Ventura, Calif. a daughter, Mrs. James Ragsdale of Richland, Calif. one brother, T. R. Joe Emil Pouzar, Sr. passed away April 1, 2006. He was born January 2, 1938, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He spent most of his early years in Little Rock and completed his bachelor's degree in civil engineering at the University of Arkansas, where he met his wife, Detonne. His early professional years with the Corps of Engineers took him to Houston, Texas where he remained an engineer par excellence for the Johnson Space Center for 42 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emil J. Pouzar and his brother, Patrick Pouzar.
He is survived by his wife, Detonne B. Pouzar of Pearland, TX (formerly Detonne Bogle of Fourche Valley); his son, Joe Emil Pouzar, Jr. M. D. and wife Linda C. Pouzar, M. D. his adored granddaughters, Carole Lynette and Kimberly Jo Pouzar of Houston, TX; his mother, Elsie N. Pouzar of Little Rock and a sister, Jane P. Terrell and her husband, Al of Murfreesboro, AR. He was involved in the design and construction of numerous projects at the Space Center including modification of the space chamber and storage space for the moon rocks. The flag over Mission Control was flown at half-mast in his honor. The flag was presented to Detonne at the memorial service. In retirement, he offered his expertise in information and business management to assist his son in his medical practice, Clear Lake Family Physicians. He will always be remembered as a most loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, and friend, as well as the epitome of selfless, humble servanthood. He and his wife joined Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Houston on May 27, 1973. He served faithfully as an usher and was also a member of the Adult Bible Study Class.

She was owner and operator of Douglas Feed and Seed Store Inc. in Danville, Arkansas, member of the First Baptist Church in Danville and a member of the Eastern Star Chapter also in Danville. She was the widow of Richard Harold Powell.
The body was cremated following the service that was held on October 24, 2008 and officiated by Rev. Suzanne Stoner.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Noel Powell; four brothers and one sister.

Billy Ray Powers, age 70, of Little Rock, Arkansas passed from this life on August 31, 2003 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born October 19, 1932, on the farm out from Danville, Arkansas, to Lester H. and Violet M. Kimbrough Powers. Mr. Powers was retired from Ray Powers Insurance, which he was in from 1968 to 2002. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Three years were served in Germany where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He served in the Oak Forest Lions Club from 1972 to 1987. He was President of the club in 1980. He was elected and served a three-year term on the Eye and Kidney Bank Program. He was a member of the Brady Masonic Lodge 753 of Little Rock and was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. He was an avid sportsman, loved hunting and fishing. As a young man he played baseball, football and ran track. He loved animals, especially his little red poodle, Penny. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Charlsie D. Myatt Powers.
Survivors include one stepson, Col. Joe D. Dowdy of Carlsbad, CA and three grandchildren; one sister, Erma Nell Powers; one brother, Bobby G. Powers, both of Danville, Arkansas and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held September 4, 2003, at First Baptist Church in Danville, Arkansas. Interment was in Earl Ladd Cemetery in Danville, Arkansas with Minister John McCourt officiating under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home. One Man Killed, Others Hurt by Run-Away Horse at Races -- Felix Powers, age 79, of Moss Creek, was killed almost instantly and several others spectators injured when a horse bolted the track and ran into the crowd at the races in Danville Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Powers was knocked down and stepped on by the horse and died before reaching the hospital. Wanell Miller of Danville, age 14 and Bud Davis of Waveland, were knocked down but apparently received only minor bruises. Ed Vestal, the rider of the horse, was thrown over the horse's head but was not injured seriously.
Mr. Powers is survived by his wife, who has been living in Oklahoma; by two sons, Asbury of Danville and Russell of Pontiac, Mich.; one daughter, Mrs. Earl Baker of Pontiac, Mich.; one brother W .T. Powers of Moss Greek; and eight grandchildren.

Violet M. Powers age 89 of Danville completed life's journey in this world and went on to be with the Lord on Monday, May 20, 2002 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was born July 23, 1912 in Chalybeate Springs, Yell County, Arkansas to the late Duke and Hudie Pillow Kimbrough. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Danville and retired from Chambers Memorial Hospital after twenty-four and a half years of service.
She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Billy Ray Powers of Little Rock, Bob and Ann Powers of Danville; a daughter, Erma Powers of Danville, one sister, Velma Kemp of El Reno, OK, two granddaughters, Tamer a Quattlebaum of Bryant, and Cindy Conley of Dardanelle, one great-granddaughter and two great-grandsons, and numerous relatives and friends.
Services will be held Wednesday, May 22, 2002, 2:00 p. m. at the First Baptist Church in Danville with Rev. David Hawkins and Rev. Delton Beal officiating. William Aldie Powers, 95, of Buhl, passed away peacefully, Dec. 14, 2005. He was born Nov. 11, 1910, in Danville, Ark. He married Wilna J. Bowerman on March 23, 1931. He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He loved his family and friends and will always be in the hearts of his loved ones. He loved working his orchard it was his life as well as his livelihood. Hunting was his favorite hobby. Telling his stories was the next. He loved to sing and he had a beautiful singing voice. He always had a song ready. He spent many years teaching the Bible to others as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was baptized in approximately 1940 in Little Rock, Ark.
Survivors are son, Kenneth (Laura); grandchildren, Kathryn Bowers, Greg Powers (Liz), Debbie Robison (Doug) and Denny Powers (Deb); great-grandchildren, Danielle LaRose (Brian) and Jess Bowers, Karen, Lacey and Allie Powers, Christopher and Nicole Robison, Brittani, Ashlei, Storm, Hannah, Tori, Caden and Brynli Powers and great great-grandchildren, Danny and Breanna LaRose and Ashton Bowers The family appreciates the help given to Aldie by the Snake River Rehab. Wilna Josephine Bowerman Powers, age 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Dec. 4th, 2005. She was born May 23, 1912, in Danville, Arkansas to Fortha Elizabeth (Lizzie) Bowerman and Levi Bower-man of Danville, Arkansas. She married William Aldie Powers also of Danville on March 23, 1931. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved her family and friends. She will always be in the hearts of her loved ones.

Pozza and Joshophine A. Piazza Pozza. A retired Affiliated Foods employee, he was a veteran of the Coast Guard and a member of the Saint John's Catholic Church.

She was born November 23, 1911, in Springhill, AR (Hempstead County) she was the daughter of James Henry and Ida Viola Huckabee Martin. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Smackover.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Samuel Winford Prather, Sr. and 10 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her two sons, Samuel Winford Prather, Jr. of Springfield, MO and Warner Wayne Prather of Smackover; four daughters, Dorris Fay Johnson of El Dorado, AR, Phyllis Carolyn O'Neal of Crawfordsville, DeWanda Cathryn Gray of Danville, AR and Darlene Farmer of Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral service was August 18, 2000 at the First Baptist Church of Smackover with Rev. Don Moore officiating. Burial was in the Smackover Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors. In 1928, 72 years ago, Leora Martin was crowned Hope Watermelon Queen by Joe T. Robinson. In the last fifty years, five of her children have been organist of the First Baptist Church in Smackover. Mrs. Carolyn Tippy Prewett, aged 51, of Little Rock, a retired secretary for an insurance company, died Wednesday. (Jan 13, 1984) She was born at Plainview, daughter of the late William Miles and Leone Rice Tippy, and was a member of Olivet Baptist Church.
Survivors are three sons, Richard Prewett of Little Rock, Michael Prewett, who is stationed with the Navy in Italy, and James Prewett of Bermuda; a daughter, Vicky Prewett of Little Rock; a brother, Richard Tippy of Monroeville, Ala.; a sister, Dorothy T. David Argus Price, age 97 of Rover died Friday, November 22, 2002 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born in Wing, Arkansas on November 13, 1905 son of the late William Billy and Sally Castleberry Price. He was a retired Farmer, Carpenter, and Painter. He was a member of the Rover Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ila Price, Fred Price, and Andrew Price; and by three sisters, Edith Rowell, Ethel Patrick, and Jewell Lawson.

Lula Dail Price, 80, of Rover, went home to be with our Lord on May 28, 2010, at Chambers Memorial Hospital. She was born on December 18, 1929, the oldest child of the late Ted and Lula Harvey. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Rover Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Argus Price, one brother, Leslie Harvey, and a sister, Edith Chilen.

Violet Laverne Priest, age 77 of Lowell, AR, passed from this life Thursday, July 28, 2005 at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. She was born July 2, 1928 in Cash, AR to Henry and Virgie Nelson Hillis. She married Mitchell Priest on January 20, 1947 in Jonesboro. She devoted her life to the care of her family and church. She was an extremely talented seamstress, and enjoyed working in her flower gardens. She was a charter member of Springdale Missionary Baptist Church. She was loved dearly and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by a son, David Lynn Priest in 2004 twin infant daughters in 1949 and 19 brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Mitchell Priest of the home a daughter, Ellen Killebrew and husband Jim of Maumelle four sons, Dexter Priest of Lincoln, Lester Priest and wife Sandra of Lowell, Mark Priest and wife Julie of Springdale, Timothy Priest of Rogers a brother, Otto Hillis of Jonesboro 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Cleo G. Pugh Prince, 89 of Little Rock, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2008. "MeMe" was a dedicated and loving military wife whose faith and strength in family gave way to raising two wonderful children, a brother, and grandson. She accepted everyone as part of "her family".
