Pettitt, Jim

Jim Pettitt, 67, died at his home in England, Ark on May 22, 1954. He was a former resident of Yell County.

He is survived by three sons, Edward of McAlester, Okla., Orvil of England and Paul of Reedley, Calif; two daughters, Mrs. Syble Hise of England and Mrs. Audry Williams of Mountain View, Calif; one brother, William Pettitt of Elk City, Okla. and a half-brother, Fred Tarbett of Los Angeles, Calif; 13 grandchildren. Pettitt, Paul Z.

Paul Z. Pettitt, age 80 died Monday, June 2, 2003, at his residence. A native of Havana, Arkansas, he had spent the past 17 years in North Georgia and Was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a retired construction worker and had served as a minister with the Assembly of God where he pastored for more than 20 years in California.

Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Pettitt; daughters, Rita Gentry of Havana, Arkansas, Loretta Parkhurst and Brenda Loyd of Belleville, Arkansas, and Dana Hicks of Chickamauga; a son, Clayton Robertson of Sumter, South Carolina; a brother, Orville Pettitt of Chowchilla, California; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Petty, Clifton "Bud"

Clifton "Bud" Petty, age 85 of Briggsville, died Monday, November 4, 2002 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born January 16, 1917 in Womble, Arkansas to the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Petty. He was a WWII Army Veteran and retired from the Yell County Road Department.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Ona Hill and one brother, Granvile Petty of Norman, AR.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie Vaughn Petty; two daughters and husband, Angie and Bab Holland of Briggsville, Velma Marie and Jim Burtham of Modesto, CA; four granddaughters, including Ashley Holland; seven great grandchildren, one niece, Nona Mae Cook of Norman, AR.

Services were Wednesday, November 6, 2002 at Briggsville Methodist Church with Rev. Lacy Minnie officiating. Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville. Pettycord, Gatesy M.

Gatesy M. Pettycord, age 82 of Waveland, died Thursday, June 6, 2002 at St. Edwards Mercy Medical Center in Ft. Smith. Mrs. Petty cord was born December 10, 1919 in Hector, Arkansas to the late Gilbert and Alice Mathis Derryberry. She was a member of the Waveland EH Club, Waveland Community Church where she taught Sunday School and was a homemaker and a mother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Odus Pettycord; a daughter, Donna Otwell; two brothers, Lynn Derryberry and Hubert Derryberry; two sisters, Lucille Hassel and Selma Johns.

Survivors are two sons, James Pettycord of Ft. Smith, and Amos Pettycord of Waveland; four daughters, Edna Barker of North Little Rock, Laura Berry and Brenda Harris both of Ft. Smith and Betty Bearden of Ratcliff; a brother, Wayne Derryberry of Hector; a sister, Willy Hammer of Texas; 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Services were Monday, June 10, 2002, at Waveland Community Church with Brother John McCourt officiating. Interment was in Forks of the Creek Cemetery in Hector. Pettycord, Odus Clayton

Odus Clayton Pettycord, age 86, of Waveland, AR died Friday February 21, 1997 in Ft Smith. He was born February 25, 1910 in Hector, AR to the late Alex and Molly Mathis Pettycord. He was retired rail road worker from the Rock Island Rail Road.

He is preceded in death by one brother, Willie Pettycord and one sister, Ruby Millsap.

Survivors include wife, Gatesy Pettycord of the home; two sons, James Pettycord of Ft. Smith and Amos Pettycord of Waveland; five daughters, Edna Barker of No. Little Rock, Laura Berry of Ft. Smith, Donna Tucker of Booneville, Betty Bearden of Ratcliff and Brenda Harris of Ft. Smith; one brother, Clyde Pettycord of Hayward, CA; one sister, Rheba Eddy of Danville; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one step great-grandson.

Pfeifer, Jennie A.

Jennie A. Pfeifer, age 90, of Dardanelle died Monday at her home. She was born April 6, 1911 and was the daughter of the late Anton and Marie B. Losos Prochazka.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Pfeifer and a great granddaughter, Jennie Lynn Swilley.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Peggy Pfeifer of Dardanelle; daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Jerry McGee of Dardanelle and Helen and David Wood of Dardanelle; sisters-in-law, Ruth Prochazka of Dardanelle and Marie Prochazka of San Antonio, TX; 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.

Pfeifer, Robert "Bob" Wayne

Robert "Bob" Wayne Pfeifer, age 62 of Russellville, AR died Sunday, January 27, 2002 at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. He was born on November 1, 1939 in Dardanelle, AR to the late George R. and Mary Yendrek Pfeifer. He was a graduate of Dardanelle High School and attended Arkansas Tech. He was an Army Veteran and retired in 1999 after 38 years from the U. S. Corps of Engineers at the Regional Office in Dardanelle. He was a member of the Russellville VFW and the Dardanelle First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Walsie Mae Flanery Pfeifer; a step-daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Al Mathis of Russellville, AR; a step-son, Douglas Robinson of Soddy Daisy, TN; five grandsons; four great-grandchildren; an aunt, Helen Steff and an uncle and aunt, Louis and Madge Yendrek of Russellville, AR.

Pfeifer, Sheryl Diane

Sheryl Diane Pfeifer, age 58, of Dardanelle died Friday, September 21, 2007 at her home in Dardanelle. She was born May 20, 1949 in Seminole, TX to Oliver and Jettie McNew. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Edmond, OK.

She is preceded in death by her father, Oliver McNew.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Larry Pfeifer, daughters and son-in-law, Jodie Deal of Dardanelle, Lisa and Jason Fleming of Conway; Mother, Jettie McNew; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jolynn and Lelon Carter of Danville, Nesie and Charlie Barton of Dardanelle; two grandchildren; aunts, uncles, numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Pearl Lee Phelps, age 86, died May 10, 1997 in Danville, AR. She was born July 12, 1910 in Montgomery County, AR.

Phelps, Shirley Kay

Shirley Kay Phelps, age 59 of Ola, died Thursday, May 30, 2002 at her home in Ola. She was born in Howe, Oklahoma on August 29, 1942, to Pentecostal Ministers, Reverend Alvin and Reverend Vay Barnes Gilpin. She was born in the Assembly of God parsonage, while the attendants were singing. She was a mother and a homemaker, and a member of the Ola Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include a son, Jessie E. Phelps, Jr. a daughter, Karen Ickenroth, both of Ola; a brother, Reverend Alvin Gilpin of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a sister, Jean Lawson of Little Rock, Arkansas; two nieces, Tammy Roche, and Trisha Gilpin of Tulsa, Oklahoma and her ex-husband, Jessie E. Phelps, Sr. of Havana, Arkansas.

She was born May 24, 1923 in Danville, AR to the late Samuel Jones and Luna Whitecotton Mosley. She was a Methodist and a cafeteria manager for many years in the Modesto School system.

Phillips, Bert W.

Bert W. Phillips, age 62, a resident of Russellville, died Wednesday, August 28, 2002, at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. He was born January 23, 1940, at Nashville, Tennessee to the late Clarence Herbert and Jennie May Phillips. He was a member of the V. F. W. and the Kelly Heights Baptist Church. He has been an electrician at Arkansas Nuclear One for the past 20 years, and before that worked as an electrician at International Paper and Dow Chemical Company. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Howard L. Phillips.

Phillips, Bertha

Mrs. Bertha Phillips, age 81, of Plainview, died Monday, September 21, 1987 in Pinedale Nursing Home at Newport. She was born September 13, 1906 in Punkin Town near Briggsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband George Phillips and two sons, Bill and John Phillips. She was a retired employee of Rose's Nursing Home in Mena.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilee Williams of Tupelo, AH; two daughters-in-law, Johnna Phillips of Plainview and Ruby Phillips of El Dorado; one sister, Lenora Hurt of Plainview; one sister-in-law, Dovie Blankenship of Rover; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services were held. September 23 at New Bethel Cemetery with Rev. Monroe Hunt officiating. Funeral arrangements are in care of Dixon Funeral Home of Danville.

Eva Ruth Phillips, age 67, of Russellville, AR, formerly of Havana, AR went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ after a long illness on Friday, March 9, 2007 at the Dardanelle Hospital. She was born March 31, 1939 in Atoka, OK to John Marcus and Carrie Alma Washburn Moats. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother who cherished and loved her children and grandchildren dearly and was a Baptist and homemaker.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Bruce Allen Phillips and Dwight Warren Phillips; her parents Mr. and Mrs. John Moats; a sister, Roberta "Dean" Barnes and two brothers, Kenneth Moats and Wayne Wiley.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Paul Phillips of the home; four sons and daughters-in-law, John and Sandra Phillips of Pottsville, AR, Jerry Paul and Pamela Phillips of Rohnert Park, CA, Major Jimmy and Laura Phillips of Heidelberg Germany and Jason and Tabitha Phillips of Belleville, AR; three daughters and sons-in-law, Paulette and James Crabill of Dardanelle, AR, Carrie and Ray Coulson of Oakmont, PA and Connie and Jeremiah Tinsley of Glendale, AZ; three brothers and sisters-in-law, including her favorite twin brother, Albert and Becky Moats of Danville, AR, Hadden and Margarita Moats of McKinney, TX and Doug and Clarenda Moats of Ola, AR; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth and George Sugita of Dixon, CA and Alice and Paul Tygart of Ward, AR; 23 grandchildren and one great-grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years N. E. "Tim" Phillips. She was a member of Plainview United Methodist Church.

Survivors include 2 sons and daughter in law, Thomas Allen & Barbara Phillips of Plainview, AR, George Michael Phillips of Dayton, Wyoming; a daughter & son-in-law, Joan Thoma of Fayetteville, AR; 2 brothers, T. L. "Shorty" Cindy Patterson of Ola, AR, Billy R. & Lila Patterson of Mtn. Home, Idaho; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; devoted nieces, nephews and many friends.

Funeral service was Thursday, May 9, 2002 at the Plainview United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Monroe Hunt and Rev. Donna Alberts. Mr. Jerry H. Phillips, age 62, of Russellville, AR died Friday, October 31, 1997 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was a retired assistant Fire Chief with the Russellville Fire Department. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He was born June 19, 1935 in Russellville, AR to the late Henry M. and Ada Bowles Phillips.

He is survived by his wife, Syble Phillips of Russellville; a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Brenda Phillips of Pottsville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda and Steve Stevenson of Pottsville and Regina and Murphy Henderson of Russellville; a step-brother, Alex Bishop of Russellville; his stepmother, Evelyn Phillips of Russellville; two step-sisters, Randy Brooks of Russellville and Linda Hastings of Texas and three grandchildren, Curtis Phillips of Pottsville, J. Ola Mae Hudson Phillips, age 92, of Danville, AR died Thursday, September 20, 2001 at her home. She was born April 27, 1909 in Olio, AR to the late Samuel Washington and Lena Miller Hudson. She was a homemaker, mother, wife and a retired poultry farmer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Jefferson Phillips and four brothers, William, Ted, Leon and Robert Hudson.

She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Betty and Norman Gangluff of Hattieville, AR, Reba Sanders and Mary Millard both of Danville, AR; one sister and brother-in-law, Anna Lea and Tobe Horn of Danville, AR; three sisters-in-law, Edith Hudson of Danville, AR and Marie Hudson and Christy Hudson Johnson both of Waldron, AR; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Ray Asher Phillips, age 73 of Havana, died Wednesday January 15, 2003 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma on July 15, 1929 to the late Theo and Minnie Jamison Phillips. He had owned and operated Ray Phillips sawmill in Havana for over thirty years.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Burnett and Seletha Craig.

Thomas Phillips, age 66 of Plainview, passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Tuesday October 7, 2008 at his home.
