Morris, Betty Jean Bryant

Betty Jean Bryant Morris, age 75 of Casa, died Monday, April 25, 2005. She was born September 25, 1929 at Pettit, Texas to the late John James and Nora Pearl Carter Bryant.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Hamilton Morris, Sr.; brother, John J. Bryant Jr.; sisters, Mildred Price, Wilma "Bill" Hunnicutt, Joyce Blodgett, Peggy Woods.

Survivors include, two sons and daughters-in-law, J.R. and Pat Morris of Morrilton, Mickey Joe and Anna Morris of Dover; three daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Scooter McDaniel of Altheimer, Rita and Bill Brixey of Casa, Lana and Benny Robinson of Dardanelles one brother and sister-in-law, Dale and Yvonne Bryant of Duncan, OK; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Marlin Koster of Dover, Janice and W.H. Cox of Levelland, TX, Myrel and Jackie Tayler of Levelland, TX, Ann T. Jeffcoat of Haskell, TX; thirteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 28, 2005, at 2:00 pm at the Casa First Baptist Church with Rev. Wiley Jones officiating. Interment will be at Casa Cemetery. Morris, Elmer Elton

Elmer Elton Morris age 81 of Danville died, Friday, February 24, 2006. He was born May 23, 1924 in Mena, AR to the late George David Morris and Florence Goswick Morris. He was a retired poultry and cattle farmer. He was a member of the Danville Assembly of God Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Imogene Minnie Morris.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, George and Jan Morris of Belleville; daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Darrel Campbell of Delaware, Jeaney and Clinton Kimbrough of Danville; brothers, Earl Morris of South Carolina, George Morris of Indiana; sister, Velma Wooten of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Justin Kimbrough of Danville, Teresa Tramel of Russellville, Darin Stephens of Clinton, Tina Stephens of Russellville; great-grandchildren, Cory Stephens of Dardanelle and Gannin Stephens of Clinton.

Imogene Morris age 73 of Danville died Saturday, November 20, 2004 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. She was born April 6, 1931 in Casa to the late David Wesley and Etta Faye Edwards Minnie. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Danville. J

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Jackie Minnie, Jerald Minnie, Aubrey Minnie and JD Minnie.

Survivors are her husband of 59 years, Elmer Elton Morris, one son and daughter-in-law, George and Jan Morris of Belleville, two daughters and sons-in-law, Faye and Darrel Campbell of Delaware, Jeaney and Clinton Kimbrough of Danville, a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Jewell Minnie of Plainview, a sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and BW McCann of Russellville, four grandchildren, Justin Kimbrough of Danville, Teresa Tramel of Russellville, Darin Stephens of Clinton, I Tina Stephens of Lake Jackson, Texas and a great-grandchild, Corey Stephens of Dardanelle.

Jeffrey Scott Morris, age 48 of Dover, died Thursday, December 18, 2008 at his home. He was born February 15, 1959 at Russellville to the late Willis Ray and Evelyn Rogers Morris. He was a member of the Gravel Hill Church of Christ.

He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry Morris and Wayne Morris.

Lena Atlantic Morris, age 87, of Ola, died Thursday at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was born August 27, 1917, in Waltreak, AR to the late Tilford and Mary Etna Jackson Black. She was a homemaker and mother, and a member of the Assembly of God Church in Ola.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Morris, two sons, Drexel Morris and Richard Morris.

Mrs. Maree Morris, age 88, of Mulberry, AR formerly of Danville, AR died Sunday, February 9th, 1997 at a local nursing home. She attended the First Assembly of God Church in Mulberry.

Ottis Clinton Morris, age 86, of Russellville, AR died Monday, March 16, 2009 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born July 30, 1922 in Georgetown, Louisiana to the late Silas Nathan and Ella McConathy Morris. He was a WWII U. S. Army Air Core Veteran, retired from the U. S. Forestry service after 33 years, a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Pencil Bluff and the First Baptist Church Fianna Hills in Ft. Smith, and a graduate of Polytechnical Louisiana Institute, B. S. in Forestry.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David, Nathan and Corley Morris.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years Virginia Ann Morris; son, U. S. Army Major James Clinton Morris of Greenwood, AR; daughter and son-in-law, Linda Ann and Aylmer Lee Morgan of Danville; sister, Maxine Wilson of California; grandchildren, Ollie Sean Morgan of Danville, Paige Renee and Alex Clinton Morris of Greenwood; niece, Marcia Barrett of Louisiana.

Morris, Oueda Bearden

Two Drown After Auto Accident (Mrs. Oueda Bearden Morris and Mrs. June Counts Webb )- Two North Little Rock women were drowned and three other persons injured Saturday night when two cars, one following the other, missed the Chickalah Creek bridge and plunged into the creek. Four cars have plunged into the creek at this place in a little over a year. Dead are Mrs. Oueda Bearden Morris, 33, and her cousin, Mrs. June Counts Webb, 30. Injured were Harold S. Webb, husband of Mrs. Webb, his brother-in- law, Troy Bearden of North Little Rock; and Mrs. May Bell Whitley of Little Rock. There were taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. Webb was driving the lead car. His wife and Mrs. Morris were with him. Bearden, accompanied by Mrs. Whitley, was following. An approaching car had cleared the bridge and had left a cloud of dust, according to Webb. Webb apparently did not see the bridge until his car ran up on a side banister and toppled side wise into the water. Bearden apparently was following the taillights of Webb's car and plunged behind it into the creek. Morris, Vileka Fowler

Vileka Fowler Morris passed away in Walnut Creek, California February 26, 1994 at the age of 81 years. She was born in Gravelly, Arkansas to Seth T. and Minnie Fowler. She went out to California in 1935 where she married the late James Carl Billingsley, also of Arkansas. She was later married to the late Ray Morris of Pleasant Hill, CA and lived there for the remainder of her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Sue Ann Billingsley; two brothers; Olgar and Euel and sisters-in-law Marie and Pearl all of Arkansas; her; sisters, the late Hazel Hunnicutt and Dewey Hunnicutt, Aimee Hunt, Helen Findley and Bobbye Weems and brothers-in-law, the late Will Hunnicutt, Deon Findley, Byron-Hunt and Bill Hunnicutt and A. W. Weems. She is also cherished and remembered by 8 nieces and nephews, 5 great niece and nephew 7 and 8 great, great nieces and-nephews, many neighbors and friends.

Mr. William Arnold Morris, Sr. age 59, of Texarkana, AR, died Friday, February 15, 2002 in a Texarkana Hospital. Mr. Morris was born August 10, 1942 in Ranger, AR and had been a lifetime resident of Arkansas. He was a Supervisor for Affiliated Foods Southwest, was a former Manager for Safeway Food Stores, and was a member of the Highland Hills Baptist Church.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William A. "Bill", Jr. and Carol Ann Morris of Littleton, Colo. two daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela Ann and Donny Bond and Michelle Lea and Stephen Haltom, all of Texarkana, AR; two brothers, A. D. Morris and Lee Morris, both of Danville, AR; two sisters, Effie Jean Stapleton and Lenore Hall, both of Danville, AR; four grandchildren, Haley Bond, Tyler Haltom, Holland Morris, and Sarah Haltom; former wife and mother of his children, Ann LaCour of Texarkana, TX; his former father-in-law and mother-in-law, D. L. and Majel Connell of Texarkana, AR; a special friend, Susie Tye of Texarkana, AR; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Nellie Morrison, age 60 of near Danville died at the Danville Clinic Hospital Friday, July 21, 1950. Mrs. Morrison was born in Oakland City, Ind. and was united in marriage in 1906 to Tom C. Gilkey in Clarksville, Texas.

She was preceded in death by Tom Gilkey and three of twelve children born to this union. She was married in 1933 to Fred Blanton and one son also preceded her in death.

In 1941 she was married to C. M. Morrison of Ft. Towson, Okla. Survivor in addition to her husband, include three daughters, Mrs. Dora Renfrow of Oildale, Calif., Mrs. Dovie Martin of Fisk, Mo., and Mrs. Mary Jane Green of Detroit, Mich.; six sons, Paul Gilkey of Oildale, Calif., Roy T. Gilkey of Cooter, Mo., Billy C. Gilkey of Ft. Morrison, Retha M.

Retha M. Morrison, 73 of Rogers, passed away January 10, 2007, in Springdale. Ms. Morrison was born December 22, 1933, in Havana, AR, to Grover C. Earls and Vila Bell Earls. She and her husband, Lawrence, were farmers in Danville before moving to Rogers. She was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Rogers and enjoyed church activities, fishing, sewing and cooking.

She is preceded in death by her brother Arlan Earls.

She is survived by her husband Lawrence Morrison, they were married February 27, 1954, in Bentonville; son, John Morrison of Springdale; daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Bill McClure of Springdale; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Elaine Earls of Danville and Ronnie Gene and Terry Earls of Jennings, OK; three sisters and a brother-in-law Mairl and Bill Fleming of Sand Springs, OK, Helen Adams of Sand Springs, OK and Brenda Vestal of Mt. George, AR; two grandchildren Rachel and Katie McClure of Springdale, AR; sisters-in-law Dorothy and Wayne Acheltree and Connie Prophet all of Rogers and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 15, 2007, at Lakeside Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Hill officiating. Burial was at Ruddick Cemetery in Garfield. Morrow, Lewis Bond, Jr.

Lewis Bond Morrow, Jr., 85, long-time resident of Guthrie, OK, entered into eternal life on March 6, 2010 after a long illness. Lewis was born November 4, 1924 in Memphis, TN to Lewis Bond and Mildred Banks Morrow, Sr.

In his formative years, Lewis attended the Foreman School in Litchfield, CT with summers at the family summer home in Charlevoix, MI. He then attended Hernando High School, Hernando, MS where he graduated in 1944. He then entered military service with the American Field Service and was trained as an ambulance driver in Hyderabad, India, with the British Army, to be part of the first assault group in the invasion of Singapore, but was garrisoned in Karachi, India (now Pakistan) instead, with the conclusion of World War II. Upon returning to Memphis in 1946, Lewis enrolled at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in Oxford, MS, majoring in Abnormal Psychology and pledging to the Kappa Alpha fraternity. After receiving his degree in 1950, he came to Norman, OK to attend the University of Oklahoma in anticipation of expanding the family business, Oklahoma Furniture Manufacturing Company, in Guthrie, OK, into Oil and Gas Exploration in the region. It was in Oklahoma City that he had a blind date with Susie Maurine Poplin. That date was the beginning of a friendship that grew into love, and they were married on May 28, 1954 in Danville, AR at the home of Sue's parents, Horace and Rosetta Poplin. Sue's two children, Micah and Evelynn, attended also, and the family moved to Guthrie, OK where Lewis took a job at Oklahoma Furniture and worked there until his retirement in 1980. Lewis was also a part owner of the family farming operation, Banks and Company, in Hernando, MS. He later started a land development venture in Hernando, MS that continues today. Lewis was a member of and involved with many international, national, state, and local charities and organizations; including the Guthrie Lions Club, Guthrie, OK and St. Jude's Children's Hospital, Memphis, TN. He enjoyed a keen interest in stamp and coin collecting, photography, short-wave radio listening, and reading. He had an extraordinary knowledge of medical procedures and medicine which he was very proud of sharing with friends and family.

Lewis is survived by his sister Minor LeBlond and her husband Daniel of Ohio; a brother Don Morrow of Santa Fe, NM and four children Micah of Edmond, OK, Evelynn Mackie and her husband Keith of Allen, TX, Phillip and his wife Jennifer of Guthrie, OK, and Georgeanna McCombie and her husband Patrick of Tulsa, OK. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Lewis was assisted in his final years of life by his personal assistant and very close friend, Bruce Hall. The family is extremely grateful for the friendship, support, and assistance he provided for their father during this time. Lewis was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Susie "Sue" Maurine in September 2006.

Funeral services for Lewis will be held at 2:00 p. m., Friday, March 12, 2010 at the First Christian Church, Guthrie, OK with Dr. Dennis Clark officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie, OK. Those serving as pallbearers include Jon Gumerson, Bill Wagoner, John Kellogg, Joe Hall, Gary Weeks, and John Vance. Morrow, Susie (Sue)

Long time Guthrie resident Susie (Sue) Morrow entered into eternal life on Saturday, September 2, 2006. She was born on March 6, 1924 to Horace and Rosetta Poplin in Danville, Arkansas. She moved to Oklahoma in 1942 and, during World War II, worked at Douglas Aircraft now Tinker Air Force Base) as "Rosie the Riveter" on the center wing section of the C-47 and B-29 aircraft. Later, Sue worked at Glen's Hickory Pit where she met her husband on a blind date.

She married Lewis B. Morrow, Jr. on May 28, 1954 in Danville, Arkansas. Making their home in Guthrie, they were married for 52 years and had five children; Micah, Baby J, Evelynn, Phillip, and Georgeanna. Sue was a devout Christian and an avid prayer warrior. She was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed gardening and cooking. Sue was a generous giver who touched the lives of many people.

Sue is survived by her husband, Lewis of Guthrie, OK; her son, Micah, of Guthrie, OK; daughter, Evelynn, and husband Keith of Allen, TX; son, Phillip, and wife Jennifer, of Guthrie, OK; daughter, Georgeanna, and husband Patrick of Tulsa, OK; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services are today at Trinity Episcopal Church in Guthrie. Burial will follow at Summit View Cemetery, Guthrie. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie. Morse, Ervin

Ervin Morse, age 84, of Belleville, died Friday, March 18, 2005 at the Paris Health and Rehab Center. He was born in Antlers, OK April 27, 1920, son of the late Benjamin and Mary Ellen Waldron Morse. He was a retired carpenter, WWII Army Veteran, receiving the Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Theater, Philippine Liberation, Good Conduct, Victory Medal Ribbons. He was a member of Wilson Free Will Baptist Church, Boyce-Woods VFW Post J3141 in Dardanelle and Disabled American Veterans.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Zetta Ray Morse; step-son, Richard Leon Morris; grandson, Jeremy Foster; granddaughter, Crystal Morse; brothers, Bill, Tex and Thurman Morse and sister, Mabel Horn

Survivors include his wife, Betty Noblett Morse; sons and daughters-in-law, Dewain Morse of Belleville, Howard and Lisa Morse of Dardanelle, Ricky and Chancela Morse of Booneville; daughters and sons-in-law, Rena Gail and Jim Miller of Mt. George, Zetta and Keith Hacker of Belleville, Sandra and Mike Wilson of Mena, Vickie and Chris Ellison of Birta; fifteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Services were held on Monday, March 21, 2005 at Wilson Free Will Baptist Church with Reverend Bob Alexander officiating. Burial was held with military honors by Boyce-Woods 3141 VFW Post, Dardanelle. Morse, Richard

Danville Boy Killed By Car After Getting Off School Bus - An 8 year old Danville boy was killed last Friday as he was crossing the highway after getting off a school bus. The boy, Richard Morse, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Morse of Danville Rt. 1, was struck by a car driven by Jimmy Johnston, 24, of Little Rock.

The accident happened about one mile east of Danville on Highway 10 at 3:15 p. m. The boy was examined by a doctor and taken to the Yell County Hospital, where he died about 15 minutes after the accident. The car knocked or carried him about 155 feet from where it struck him. Part of the grill and the hood was dented by the blow. Ted Allen, driver of the bus, said he had stopped and had his stop sign out, and that, Richard and his sister got out of the bus and went around behind it to cross the highway. The sister was behind Richard and was not injured. Johnson said that he was going about 60 or 65 miles an hour and was driving west. He said he saw the children get off the bus, but that he did not know that the law required him to stop. He said he slowed down as he approached the bus and locked his brakes as he saw the boy come from behind the bus. He and his wife were on their way to Chickasha, Okla. when the accident occurred. Johnson was charged with involuntary manslaughter and released on a $1,000 bond Saturday morning. His case is scheduled for the August term of Circuit Court. Penalty for involuntary manslaughter, upon conviction is imprisonment for not over three years or a fine of $1 to $1,000, or both. Morse, Willie R.

Willie R. Morse, born March 7, 1936 in Danville, AR to Tex and Amye Morse passed away in Oklahoma. During his childhood his family moved to South OKC. He attended Capitol Hill H. S. where he was named an AllState Baseball Player for catching. After graduation, he signed as a catcher with the Brooklyn Dodger Org. He always had a great love for the fame of Baseball. After baseball, he worked for Dub Richardson Ford for many years and enjoyed antique cars. He was employed for the last 15 years in restoring antique automobiles and bicycles. He also thoroughly enjoyed the conversation he shared with friends at the coffee shop.

He leaves behind, his wife, Leota "Lea" Morse of the home; daughters, Annette Morse and Tonya Reeves; sons, Willie Morse and Mark Lockhart; grandchildren, Whitney & Chantz Morse; 5 step grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; one uncle, Ervin Morse of Belleville, AR; several aunts and other family and friends.

Morton, Ila Ann Ubben

Ila Ann Ubben Morton, age 71 of Belleville, AR, widow of Rev. Richard Blaylock Morton, died Tuesday, May 2, 2000 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Russellville, AR. She was born June 8, 1928 on a farm in Turner County, South Dakota to the late Henry and Anna Johnson Ubben. She graduated from Chancellor High School in 1946, attended colleges in Minneapolis, MN and Dallas, TX. She was a homemaker and mother and a member of the Ascension Life Christian Fellowship in Danville where she served as the Librarian in the Tape Ministry Department.

Survivors are, two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Bettina Morton of Atlanta, GA and Richard and Judy Morton of Danville, AR; one daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Don Brittain of Cement, OK; one brother, Leroy Ubben of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister, Carolyn Camp of Holiday Island, AR; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Moseley, James Sidney "Sid"

James Sidney "Sid" Moseley, Sr. age 101, formerly of Little Rock, AR died Wednesday, October 10, 2001 at Legacy Lodge in Russellville, AR. He was born January 19, 1900 in Little Rock, AR the son of the late Henry Willett and Maude Key Moseley. He was an Army Veteran of WWI, a retired business man who worked for Arkansas Foundry, and a graduate of University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Carmen Dunn Moseley and a son, Jim Moseley.

Survivors include one grandson and his wife, Skip and Carol Cornwell Moseley of Dardanelle, AR; two great grandchildren, Jim L. Moseley of Dallas, TX and Kelley Moseley Carr of Columbia City, IN.

Linda Carol Cornwell Moseley, age 61, of Mt. Nebo died Thursday, October 25, 2007 at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born December 26, 1945 at Russellville to the late Loyd Rush and Violet Ayleen Masters Cornwell.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dr. Sammy Loyd Cornwell; stepfather, Glenn Bailey.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, "Skip" James S. Moseley III of Mt. Nebo; son, "Jim" James Lloyd Moseley of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Bobby Carr of Jackson, WI; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Ann Cornwell of Danville; step-brother, Jimmy Bailey, Jacksonville, AR; grandsons, Bryson Robert Carr and Austin James "A. J. " Carr.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p. m. Sunday, October 28, 2007 at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with the Bro. John McCourt officiating. Interment will be in Brearley Cemetery at Dardanelle.
