Gray, Albert Leslie

Albert Leslie Gray age 82 of Belleville died Monday, October 10, 2005, at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville. He was born October 24, 1922 in Havana to the late Eddie Clarence and Willie Ann Hignight Gray. He was a retired custodian and farmer.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Gray three sisters, Pearl Gray, Vida Cravens and Irene Williams.

Survivors are three sons, Buddy and Audra Gray of Chickalah, John Gray of Fayetteville and Ron and Rochelle Gray of Ft. Worth, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Everett and Arline Gray of Havana; brother-in-law, Robert Williams of Aztec, New Mexico; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be today, Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Smith Cemetery by John McCourt. Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Heart Hospital, 1701 S. Shockleford, Little Rock, AR, 72211. Gray, Andy Junior

Andy Junior Gray, age 77, of Dardanelle, AR died Saturday, June 13, 1998 at his home in Dardanelle, AR. He was born October 10, 1920 in the Ard Community, Yell County, Arkansas to the late Andrew Jackson Jr. and Nettie Viola Gateley Gray. He was a farmer, member and Deacon of the Dardanelle Church of Christ, member of the DAV and American Legion. He was a WWII Army Veteran having received the Purple Heart.

He was preceded in death by five sisters.

He is survived by wife, Marilyn Miller Gray; a son, Roger Wayne Gray of Russellville; a daughter, Brenda Sue Gray of Dardanelle; one sister, Aura lee Land of the Ard Community; two grandchildren, Benjamin David Gray of Russellville and Laura Jean Gray of Russellville; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Service was June 15, 1998 at the Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with Jack Lawyer and Ralph Weinhold officiating. Interment was in the Ard Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle, AR. Gray, Anna Belle

Mrs. Anna Belle Gray, 73, died Friday in a Ft. Smith hospital. A resident of Ft. Smith 23 years, she was a member of 1st Methodist Church.

Survivors include six sons, Robert Gray, Little Rock, Jim Gray, El Dorado, Mack Gray, Santa Rosa, Calif. and Paul, R. G. A. and R. C. Gray, Armour

Mr. Armour Gray, aged 63 years, died at his home on North Second Street at 8 o'clock Sunday night, after an illness of several months.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. E. W. Faulkner, Pastor of the Methodist Church, of which deceased was a member, were held at the family home at 4:00 o'clock Monday afternoon, burial in charge of the Cornwell Funeral Home being in Brearley Cemetery. The business houses of the city were closed and the flag at the Federal Building was flown at half-mast during the funeral hour. Mr. Gray was born near this city and for most of his life was a resident of Dardanelle. For years he has been engaged in the grocery and meat business, in which he was a recognized leader. He was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and interested and active in civic affairs and the betterment of his town and community.

He is survived by his wife, three sons, J. R., Armour Lee and Harold; and by one brother, Homer Gray, of Little Rock. The Post-Dispatch joins in extending deepest sympathy to the bereaved ones. Gray, Armour Lee

FAYETTEVILLE - Armour Lee Gray, 67, of Fayetteville, formerly of Dardanelle, died Monday, May 4 at a Fayetteville hospital. Born March 2,1920, at Dardanelle, he was the son of Armour and Cena Rea McCorkle Gray. He moved to the Fayetteville area from Dardanelle in 1954. He had been a partner in the IGA Grocery Stores in Fayetteville, retiring in 1982. He also was owner and operator of another grocery store prior to IGA. Gray was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Johnson Gray of the home; a son, Gary Lee Gray of Fayetteville; a stepson, Bill Putman of Lafayette, Ind.; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Gray Mumma of Bentonville; a brother, J.R. Gray of Dardanelle, and two grandchildren.

Funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville. Graveside service and burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle. Gray, Bill

Bill Gray, age 78, of Danville, died Thursday, November 24, 2011 at his home. He was born March 14, 1933, at Comanche, Oklahoma to Carl and Grace Mathews Gray. He was of the Baptist faith and served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was an exceptional builder and was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 8525, in Plainview where he served as Commander for five years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and James Gray; and a sister, Helen Allison.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Smith Gray; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William James and Rebecca Gray, of Connecticut, and Nelson Gray of Belleville; one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Lloyd Boyd of Belleville; one sister, Martha White, of Texas; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Billie J. Gray, age 62, of Mena died Thursday, January 31, 2002, in Little Rock. She was born October 5, 1939, in Water Valley, Mississippi, to the late Willie Clarence Brister and the late Bessie Evans Brister.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son Roger Gray. She was united in marriage to Paul Gray, Sr. Mrs. Gray had been an office manager for the Austin Medical Clinic. She was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi and the First United Methodist Church in Mena.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Peggy Gray; two brothers, Thurman Gray and James Gray; and two sisters, Juanita Dale and Virginia Linton.

Gray, Charles Leonard

(Sept. 7, 1984) Charles Leonard Gray, age 73, of Russellville died Friday. He was the son of the late John F. Gray and the late Betty Elizabeth Allen Gray. He was born April 21, 1911 in Caglesville. He was a farmer and timber worker and attended the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include four brothers, Ben and Sewood Gray of Hector, Lloyd Gray of Caglesville, and Bob Gray of Russellville; and number of nephews and nieces.

Funeral will be at 10 a. m. Monday at the Shinn Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Avaugh Vaughn and the Rev. Christine Blankenship. HAVANA - Claud C. Gray, age 76, of Havana died Sunday, August 25, 1985. He was a retired employee of Rock Island Railroad, veteran of World War II, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Methodist.

Everett Gray, age 95, of Havana passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle. He was born July 17, 1915 in Havana to the late Eddie Clarence & Willie Ann Hignite Gray. He was a WWII Army Veteran, during WWII he served in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe and was awarded three bronze stars for his service, member of Cedar Creek Church of Christ and a lifetime member of the Havana V.F.W. Preceded in death by his parents; brothers Wesley and Leslie Gray; sisters Vida Gray Cravers, Pearl Gray and Irene Gray Williams.

Survivors include wife of 67 years Arline Gray; sons & daughters-in-law, Everett Gray Jr. & wife Barbara of Russellville; Jerry K. Gray of Havana; Edwin Gray and wife Cheryl of Havana; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Irene H. (Hunt) Gray, 83, Anderson, died September 24, 2004 at Century Villa Health Care, Greentown after following an extended illness. She was born March 17, 1921 in Gravelly ARK, and moved to the Anderson area in1942. She was a homemaker who also worked at Delco Remy. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Anderson, where she was a member of the Women's Circle and the Bykota Class.

She is survived by her Children: Marilyn R. and husband, William Robinson of Kokomo, Judith Irene Gray and husband, Thomas P. Higgins of Yorktown, O. Kyle Gray and wife, Diana of Austin, TX. Brother: J.A. and wife, Susie Hunt of ARK. Grandchildren: Julia D. Gray, Emily Irene Gray, Matthew W. Kellams and Ryan Patrick Gray Higgins. She was the beloved aunt of many nieces & nephews.

Gray, J. Frank

J. Frank Gray, age 86, of Lubbock, TX died Friday, Jan. 25, 2002. He was born December 9, 1915, in Dardanelle, AR and moved to Olton in August 1933. He attended Texas Tech School of Agriculture. He farmed from 1939 until 1986. He was a pioneer in the use of municipal wastewater for irrigation of agriculture crops. He served on numerous agriculture committees, including one on the relocation of the Texas Agriculture Experiment Station in Lubbock. He received various agricultural awards, including the 1961 Hobitzelle Award for the Advancement of Rural Life in Texas and the Gerald Thomas Texas Tech Award for Outstanding Producer in Agriculture. He was a member of the Texas Tech University Foundation Board and a former member of the Lions Club. He was on the Texas State Soil Water Conservation Board from 1959 until 1986, serving as chairman for five years. He was a member of the Texas Tech Ex-Student's Association and the Red Raider Club. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Imogene; a stepson, Lee Sanders of Midland; a stepdaughter, Susan Hilburn of Austin; a sister, Esther Carter of Dardanelles a brother, Earl of Dardanelles and three grandchildren.

Graveside services were Monday in the City of Lubbock Cemetery with the Rev. Bobby McMillan officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home. "Tony" Jack Anthony Gray, age 45 of Russellville, formerly of Modesto, CA died Saturday, May 24, 2008 at Saint Edwards Hospital. He was born August 8, 1962 at Maywood, CA to the late Troy and Anniv Horn Gray. He worked at Kendrick Hospital as a CNA and was a Restaurant Manager.

Janie Rosas Gray, age 87, of Havana, died Friday, March 26, 2010 at Chamber's Memorial Hospital. Born June 15, 1922, in Converse, TX, she was the daughter of the late Cruz and Maria Espectacion Salinas Alviso. She was a member of the Havana Presbyterian Church and a line worker at Wayne Poultry.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Sammy Rosas; a brother and three sisters.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sonya Gray of Havana daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Duane Noblett of Belleville; daughters, Elida Valdez of San Antonio, TX, Eloise Rosas of Washington, DC. Gray, Jewell Elizabeth

Jewell Elizabeth Gray, age 98 of McAlester, OK died Friday, April 2, 2010. Jewell was born September 17, 1911 to Paris Gipson and Aletha Elizabeth (Franke) Ashmore. She married Claud Gray October 1, 1939 in Dardanelle, AR. She graduated from Arkansas Polytechnic College in Russellville with an education degree. She retired from Havana, AR Elementary School where she taught fifth grade English. She was a member of the Havana United Methodist Church, Arkansas Retired Teachers Association and the VF. W Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, crocheting and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gipson and Elizabeth Ashmore; husband, Claud Gray; sister, Marilla Cole; three brothers, Finis, Floyd, and William Paul Ashmore.

Survivors include sister-in-law Mary E. Ashmore of McAlester, OK; nieces, Betty Lou Moore and husband James Henry of Fayetteville, Pamela Wilson and husband Monroe and Paula Bussey and husband Jeral of McAlester, OK, and Betty Blaylock and husband of Hazen, AR; nephew, Bill J. Ashmore and wife Patricia of Heber Springs; many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Gray, Joe C.

Mr. Joe C. Gray, born September 19, 1868, died at his home at Havana January 23. Married to Mary Evelyn Rogers March 17, 1889, who survives him. In this union were born ten children, nine of whom survive them.

Funeral services will be held at the Havana Baptist Church Friday morning at 10 by Rev. W. E. Huey, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, John D. Baker, pastor of the Baptist Church and Rev. Mr. Baum, pastor of the Assembly of God church with burial in the Havana cemetery. The writer likes to think of Mr. Gray as a mountain man, a member of the Masonic Lodge, that made his reputation as a man and a neighbor (and there was none better thought of) on Magazine Mt. at Liberty Grove where a bunch of happy men always had someone up in the air with some innocent foolishness. There he found his wife, raised a family to be proud of and established what many of us covet any man, that he was a worker and his word was as good as his bond. Gray, Leon

Leon Gray, age 72, of Russellville, AR, died Tuesday, November 17, 1998 at St. Vincent's Infirmary in Little Rock, AR. He was born October 8, 1926 at Russellville, AR to the late Cecil and Hester Lipe Gray. He was the owner and operator of Smith's Shoe Shop for 37 years. He purchased the store from his wife's uncle, the late J. R. Smith, in 1960. He and his wife, Patsy Brown Gray, worked together in the business until his retirement in 1997. They were married May 25, 1949. He was a member of the Fifth & Greenwich Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Allen Gray.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy; two daughters and son-in-law, Carol Anne Gray and Karen and Mark Vaughn all of Russellville, AR; one sister, Shirley hood of Spokane, WA; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Gray of Baldwin Park, CA; one granddaughter, Brooke Vaughn of Russellville and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral was Friday at the Humphrey Chapel by Travis Sweet. Burial was at the Rest Haven Memorial Park in Russellville. Mrs. Mary E. Gray, age 92 of Havana dies January 22 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ocie Buckman. She was born in Logan County and was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Gray, Mary Grace (Smith)

Mary Grace Gray, 80, of Danville, departed this life Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. She was born January 14, 1932, in Dallas, Texas to Ethan Allen and Lucy Matilda Marie Williams Smith, she was of the Baptist faith and was the executive secretary to the hospital director at Yell County Hospital/Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville for over 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 54 years, Bill Gray, two brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, James and Becky Gray; and Nelson Gray; one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Lloyd Boyd; seven grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild.

A private burial was held in Waltreak Cemetery; at Waltreak, Arkansas under the direction of Broussard Funeral Home of Russellville. Funeral services for Mary L. GRAY of Booneville, Ark., were held at 2 p.m.

Gray, Nettie "Mama"

DARDANELLE - Mrs. Nettie "Mama" Gray, age 103, of Dardanelle died Monday, January 16, 1987 at her home. She was a native of Harkey's Valley, widow of Andrew Jackson Gray, daughter of the late Gary and Martha Cofer Gateley, and was a member of Ard Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by three daughters, Bessie Gray, Essie Gray and Mary Olga Martin.

Survivors include three daughters, Lillie Raye Gray, Aura Lee Land and Estelle George of Dardanelle; a son, Andy Junior Gray of Dardanelle; eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Patsy R Gray, age 80, of Russellville, AR died Friday, November 23, 2007 at St. Mary's Regional Medical in Russellville. The daughter of Harry and Pearl Smith Brown, she was born November 11, 1927 in Greenwood. She was a 1945 graduate of Russellville High School. She married Leon Gray on May 25, 1949. She and her husband owned and operated Smith's Shoe Shop and Store for 37 years until retiring in 1997. She was a member of the 5th and Greenwich Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leon Gray and was also preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, W.J. Davidson; a brother Charles Richmond; two sisters, Reba Burris and Mildred Armstrong.

Survivors include two daughters, Carol A. Gray and Karen Vaughn, both Russellville; a granddaughter; sister Maggie & William Rachel of Russellville; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Hood, Spokane, WA and Sylvia Gray, California; numerous nephews and nieces and cousins.

Byard and Stella and Johnny Shannon all of Holly Springs, MS; two sons and daughter-in-law, Charles B. and Delores Green of Senatobia, MS and Billy C. Green of Nesbit, MS; four sisters, Lucille James and Ruthie James both of Danville, AR, Sadie Meyer of Lake Village, AR and Rosa White of Mena, AR; two brothers, Paul Jones of Blue Mountain, AR and Fred Jones of Lavaca, AR; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and in-laws. She will be remembered as the lady from Memphis, TN where she lived until 1999, who came and set up her flea market in her mother's yard at the intersection of Highway 27 and 80.

Catherine Ann Goatcher Green, age 69, of Ola died Saturday, June 18, 2016, at Deer View Nursing Home in Ola. She was born September 26, 1946, at Chicago, IL to the late Jesse and Anna Pernell Goatcher. She was a Christian and of the Free Will Baptist Faith. She loved arts and crafts, cooking and family get togethers.

Green, Clarence Lewis

Mr. Clarence Lewis Green, age 85, was laid to rest January 29, 2002 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Walnut MS. Mr. Green died Sat. January 26, 2002 at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS. Mr. Green was a U. S. Army Veteran and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He received a full military burial. Clarence lived in Yell County for several years. He and his family raised chickens, and loved fishing. He also worked at Yell Co. Hospital (CMH).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Will Green and Cora Russell Green; his wife, Cora Belle Sanders Green; brothers, Richard Green, Floyd Green, William Green, Grady Green, James Green, and Lester Green; Sisters, Lucille Mathis, Lola Hodum, Pearl Roaten; infant daughter, Nellie Faye Green; infant son, Jimmy Franklin Green; grandsons, Jamie Lewis Green of Danville and Shawn Sherman Blue of North Platte, Nebraska.

Survivors include sons, Junior Green & wife Wanda, Jerry Lewis Green & wife, Kathy of Danville, Clayton Green & wife, Donna of Ripley, MS, Coyte Green & wife.
