Mobley, Joseph Elie

BRIGGSVILLE-Joseph Elie Mobley, age 83, of Briggsville (Yell County) was struck and killed by lightening outside his home Friday, June 6, 1975. Mr. Mobley was a retired farmer and member of Briggsville United Methodist Church and Bluffton Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Luda Whisenant Mobley; a son, John Mobley of Benton; three daughters. Mrs. Willene Armstrong and Mrs. Sarah Venable, both of Arizona, Mrs. Undean Reed of Dumas; a brother, Ocie Mobley of California, 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mobley, Leonard "Buddy"

Leonard "Buddy" Mobley, age 66 of Ola, died Saturday, February 21, 2009, at his home. Born October 24, 1942, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Taylor Rufus and Willie Mae Calhoun Mobley. He was a member of the Army National Guard and a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Rita McNeer, Ann Dodson; and a son-in-law, Benjamin Whitted.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Betty Warren Mobley of Dardanelle; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Grady Mobley of Arkadelphia, Tommy and Wendy Mobley of Donaldson, AR, Taylor Mobley of Dardanelle; a daughter, Nancy Whitted of Dardanelle; three sisters, Mary Stevens, Geneva Abies, and Virginia Hearn, all of Mississippi; seven grandchildren, Austin, Summer, and Timothy Mobley of Arkadelphia, T. J. and Sabrina McGarry of Donaldson, Zachary Whitted and Jacob Evenson of Dardanelle.

Mobley, Luda C.

BENTON - Mrs. Luda C. Mobley, aged 80, of Benton died Wednesday, April 29, 1987. She was a Baptist.

Survivors are a son, John W. Mobley of Benton; three stepdaughters, Willene Armstrong of Casa Grande, Ari. Sarah Venable of Phoenix and Undean Reed of Dumas; a sister, Lydia Irons of Sims (Montgomery County), 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Mobley, Martha C.

Martha C. Mobley, age 90, a long-time resident of Yell County, Arkansas, died Wednesday night, April 16, 1998 in Livermore, CA after a long illness. She was born in Hot Springs, raised in Story, and lived many years in Bluffton before relocating in California. After a career in care nursing, she retired to Winton, CA in 1973 where she live for 25 years.

She is survived by her daughter, Norma Lee Rotha of Livermore; a son, George (Junior) Mobley of Winton; an older sister, Lyda Taylor of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Mobley and her husband, Edgar "Pud" Mobley. She loved to work in her garden, cook for her grandkids, and help people any way that she could.

She lies in rest in the Winton Cemetery where she can still be near her flowers and her almond orchard. Mrs. Mollie Mobley, age 82, died at her home Saturday morning. She had lived all her life in or near Blue Mountain community. She was a Methodist.

Mobley, Thomas William "T.W."

Thomas William Mobley, age 86, of Havana, AR died Thursday, December 7, 1995 at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. He was born in County Line, AR, May 23, 1909 son of the late Enoch M. and Molly Grant Mobley. He was a retired livestock dealer and farmer.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Merle Hood Mobley.

Survivors include three sons, Aaron Mobley of Van Buren, AR, Adrian Mobley of Havana, AR and Hayden Mobley of Belleville, AR; two sisters, Vera Johnson of Fairfax, OK and Selma Kelsey of Georgia; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Moeller, Brenda K.

Brenda K. Moeller, age 56, of Bella Vista, Arkansas died Thursday, January 10, 2002 at her home in Bella Vista. She was born November 7, 1945 in Waldron, Arkansas to Ray Theo and Claudia Ernestine Parker Hunt. She moved to Bella Vista in January 1996 from Anchorage, Alaska. She worked for the Bureau of Land Management in Anchorage, Alaska for over ten years. She was a member of the Bella Vista United Lutheran Church. She was an avid golfer, devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Jim Moeller of Bella Vista, AR; one son, Timothy S. Moeller and wife Staci of Leawood, Kansas; one daughter, Cindy M. Henry and husband Matthew of Anchorage, Alaska; parents, Ray and Claudia Hunt of Havana, AR; two brothers, Charles Hunt and wife Wanda of Ft. Smith, AR, Parker Hunt and wife Mary of Bentonville, AR; two sisters, Helen Coots and husband Jim of Van Buren, AR, Anna Thornton and husband David of Bella Vista, AR and one granddaughter Caitlin Moeller.

Moler, Curtis "Shorty" Wesley

Curtis "Shorty" Wesley Moler, age 77, of Desoto, TX, formerly of Danville, AR, died Saturday, September 13, 1997 at Desoto Nursing Home in Desoto. He was the son of the late William Wesley and Lela Pearl Monroe Moler. He was a retired truck driver and served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was a Baptist having accepted the Lord in 1989.

Survivors include three sons, Doyle Moler of Alexander, AR, Loyd Moler of Vilonia, AR and Jimmy Moler of Duncanville, TX; a brother, Paul Moler of Oscela, IA; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Moles, Kenneth V.

Kenneth V. Moles, age 77, of Delaware, AR died Thursday, May 4, 2000 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock, AR. He was born August 21, 1922 in Scranton, AR to the late Levi and Sarah Jane Willis Moles. He was a retired John Deere service machinery salesman having worked for Keenan Implement Company for many years He was a member of the 2nd Marine Division serving four years in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of the Tri-County Water Board for 13 years, a charter member of the Yell County Mounted Patrol and the Riding Club, serving in many capacities, including commander. He was the assistance chief for the Delaware Rural Fire Department for 5 years and then served as chief for one, having to retire for health reasons. He was a supporter for the Dardanelle Sand Lizards and was given the first game ball played on the New Keenan Football field, he was a 50 year member of the American Legion Post 69, a charter member of Boyce-Woods VFW Post 3141 and a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Delaware.

Survivors are, his wife of 49 years, Ellen Garner Moles; one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Tami Moles of Delaware, AR a brother, Ted Moles of Ft. Smith, AR; two grandsons and granddaughter-in-law, Kendall Moles of Dardanelle, AR and Kevin and Tonya Moles of Delaware, AR; one step-granddaughter, Charity Darter of Delaware, AR; one great-granddaughter Madalyne Blair Moles of Delaware AR and several nieces and nephews.

Services were May 8 2000 at the Delaware First Baptist Church with Rev. Wiley Jones officiating Interment was in Graves Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle, AR. Archie Dee Molloy, age 72, of Russellville, AR, died Thursday, November 25, 1999 at his home. He was born in Pope County, a son of the late Vannie and Myrtle McCoy Molloy. He was a retired carpenter and a Baptist.

Molloy, Michael Lynn

Michael Lynn Molloy, age 51, of Plainview, died Monday, November 29, 2004 at his home. He was born January 19, 1953, in Yuma, Arizona. He was the former mayor of Plainview, a member of the Masonic Lodge, a volunteer firefighter, a member of the PoBoy Bass Club and Plainview City Council.

He was preceded in death by his father, Archie Dee Molloy.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn; one son, Johnny Molloy of Plainview; one daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Allen Austin of Gravelly; his mother, Lucille Molloy of Atkins; 3 granddaughters Charity Molloy, Michaela Godfrey, and Courtney Austin; 2 grandsons Michael Molloy, and Weston Godfrey; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Ricky and Sandy Molloy of Atkins, Ronnie and Beki Molloy of Appleton, AR; 4 sisters and 3 brothers-in-law Brenda Youngman of Bald Knob, Susan and Herbert Hunt of Hector, Marsha and Keith Carr, of Hector and Cindy and Mike Walker of Atkins and numerous nieces and nephews.

Montero, Nelson

Nelson Montero,age 53, of Pottsville, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at his home. The son of Ramon Montero Hernandez and Amelia Leon Gomez, he was born April 24, 1954 in Pinar del Rio, Cuba. He married Jean Hill on August 9, 1985 in Clarksville. He was employed with Tyson Foods of Dardanelle for 23 years, recently as a Maintenance Mechanic.

He was preceded in death by his parents in Cuba.

Survivors include his wife Jean Montero of Pottsville; two stepsons, Dale Duvall of Morrilton, Tony Duvall of Conway; a stepdaughter, Crystal Hill of Russellville; five step grandchildren; several relatives still living in Cuba and many friends from Tyson Foods, Hampton Inn and Hartman Properties.

Allie Lou Montgomery, age 72, passed away June 6, 1956, after a long illness. She was the widow of the late Dr. H. L. Montgomery of Gravelly, a lifelong resident of Yell County, member of the Methodist Church and a member of the Eastern Star.

Montgomery, Doris Imogene

Doris Imogene Montgomery, age 82, of Plainview, AR died Friday, June 29, 2007 at Advance Care Hospital in Ft. Smith, AR. She was born October 10, 1924 in Havana to the late Fenner and Ella Ritchie Steward. She retired after 20 years as a nurse's assistant at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville. She was one of the first employees when Child Development was started in Danville. She was a member of the Plainview Methodist church and the Plainview VFW Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Fred Montgomery, Sr.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John Fred, Jr. and Paula Montgomery of Hobbs, NM; Jeff and Danette Montgomery of Plainview, AR; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Thomas Cox of Plainview, AR; three brothers, Billy Steward of Havana, AR, Joe Steward of Pine Bluff, AR and Fenner Steward of Fayetteville, AR; three sisters, Betty Furr of Hot Springs, AR, Mabel Brannon of Petit Jean Mountain and Helen Tilly of Greenbrier; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Service was July 2 at the Plainview Methodist Church with Rev. Norman Chenowith, Rev. Jesse Millard and Rev. Eddy Howell officiating. Montgomery, Erma Grace

Miss Erma Grace Montgomery, age 75, of Dardanelle, AR died Saturday, April 8 at AMI St. Mary's in Russellville, AR. She was born August 9, 1919 in Briggsville, Yell County, Arkansas to the late William Jefferson and Eva Castleberry Montgomery. She was a 40 year retired school teacher and member of the Arkansas Teacher Association and the Dardanelle First United Methodist Church.

Survivors: brother, John Fred Montgomery of Plainview, AR; two sisters, Kate Balloun of Dardanelle and Reba Mathis of Riverside, CA, also 30 nephews and nieces.

Services were April 11 at the Dardanelle First United Methodist Church with Rev. Bennie Harmon. Interment was in Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service of Dardanelle. Freland Kyle Montgomery, age 72, of Ola died Wednesday, February 16, at his home. He was a native of Briggsville, son of the late Bruce and Ocie Wehunt Montgomery, a retired wholesale grocery salesman for M-K Grocer at Russellville and Conway, and was a member of Petit Jean Masonic Lodge 298 and First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Maudie Montgomery; a son, Joe Bill Montgomery of Ola; two daughters, Mrs. David H. (Mary) Pratt of Conway and Patricia Annette Montgomery of Ola; his-stepmother, Mrs. Nancy Montgomery of Carlsbad, N.M.; a brother, Sheridan Montgomery of Hot Springs; two sisters, Jayne Kilby and Bonnie East of Hot Springs, and two step-brothers, Faye Wehunt of Carlsbad, N.M., and Estel Wehunt of Booneville.

Grady Bruce Montgomery, aged 76, of Carlsbad, New Mex. died Wednesday at Carlsbad. He was a member of the Baptist Church and was a Mason and last year received his fifty year pen.

Montgomery, Harold

Harold Montgomery, age 100, died Sunday, June 11, 2006 at Arkansas Hospice Hospital in Hot Springs. Born September 8, 1905 in Gravelly he was the son of the late Dr. Thomas and Ellen Crawley Montgomery. He was a high school graduate and attended Arkansas Tech University. He was a member of the Bluffton Methodist Church, serving as the Sunday School Superintendent for over thirty years. He was a 32 degree Mason, a member of the Masonic Lodge 123 in Bluffton for over fifty years, serving as secretary.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Elizabeth Horton Montgomery and Lola Bogle Montgomery.

Survivors are a daughter, Mary Smallwood of Bluffton; three grandchildren and spouses, Kathy and Russ Jefferson of Hot Springs, Danny Potter of Bluffton, Paul and Teresa Smallwood of Chickalah and six great grandchildren.

Services will be held today, Wednesday, 10 am at the Bluffton Methodist Church with Rev. Wiley Jones officiating. Burial will be in Bluffton Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville. Montgomery, Harold

Harold Montgomery Killed in Wreck - Burial services were held Monday at the Briggsville cemetery for Harold Montgomery, age 19, of Hot Springs, who was killed in an auto accident near Hot Springs Saturday. The head on collision claimed the lives of two others, Leo Robbins, 52, of Malvern, driver of one of the cars, died instantly, Miss Margaret Teague, 20, of Jones Mill, who was a passenger in the car driven by Montgomery, died at a Hot Springs Hospital Sunday. State Police said Robbins apparently was traveling at an excessive rate of speed and that his car swerved into the wrong lane on a curve, cashing head-on into Montgomery's car. Montgomery graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1954 and since then has been working with his father, a commercial painter.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Shannon Montgomery, one sister, Barbara sue, and one brother, Shannon, Jr., all of Hot Springs. Other survivors include his grandmother, Mrs. O. T. Montgomery, John Fred

John Fred Montgomery, age 80 of Plainview, died Wednesday, October 5, 2004. He was retired from Continental Grain and had farmed for many years. He was a member of Plainview Methodist Church, a WWII Army veteran, lifetime member of V. F. W, a Mason, a member of the American Legion, former quorum court member, Plainview Municipal Judge, and on the selected service board. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his service in the South Pacific.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Imogene Montgomery; sons and daughters-in-law, John F. and Paula Montgomery Jr. of El Paso, TX, Jeff and Danette Montgomery; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Thomas Cox of Plainview; sisters, Kate Balloun of Dardanelle and Reba Mathis of California; seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren.

Services were held Saturday at the Plainview Methodist Church. Burial with military honors by the Dardanelle V. F. W Post 3141 held at Salem Cemetery. Montgomery, Lee (Dr.)

Yell County's Oldest Doctor Dies at 86 - Dr. Lee Montgomery, age 86, died at his home at Gravelly Saturday morning. He was the oldest physician in Yell County. Dr. Montgomery began his practice in 1833 at Shark, in Yell County and was active until a year ago. He received a 50 year gold button from the Arkansas Medical Association in 1949 with the observation that they waited 10 years too late. He had practiced at Gravelly since 1900. Dr. Montgomery was born in Mississippi and came to Arkansas at the age of 17. He attended the University of Arkansas Medical School and Rush Medical College at Chicago. He was a past president of the Yell and Pope Counties Medical Society. He was a member of the Yell County Board of Examiners several years and also was a Methodist and a Scottish Rite Mason.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Otho Garner and Mrs. Tom Parks of Plainview; a brother, Dr. Tom Montgomery of Salter, Ore. and a sister Mrs. John Caviness, of Danville. Mrs. Maudie Odella Montgomery, age 81, of Ola, AR died Friday, December 1, 1995 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born in Havana, AR November 11, 1914, daughter of the, late Alfred Wallace and Florence Odella Belt Johnston. She was the widow of Kyle F. Montgomery. She was a mother and homemaker and had been an employee of the Yell County Nursing Home in Ola.
