George, Faron James

Faron James George age 37 of Danville died Friday, December 29, 2006 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock. Born July 5, 1969 in Little Rock he was the son of the late James Lester "JL" George. He attended the Birta Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, special school in Ola and lived in the Bonneville Human Development Center.

Survivors include his mother, Dovie Archer George of Casa; sister, Louise Morrison of Casa; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrell and Terri George of Casa and Gary and Pam George of Conway; nephews, Isaac George, Timothy George, Scott Ross; nieces, Linda Stacy, Pam Benedict, Jamie Wells, Cassandra Storment, Crystal Mullins and Misty Henry; and several great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins and friends.

Finos J. George, 65 year old attorney from Beggs, Okla. Son of the late Mr. And Mrs. Tom George of the Alpha community, died with a heart attack Tuesday at his home.

He is survived by his widow; two brothers, Nelson of Danville and Sam of Dardanelle; four Sisters, Mrs. Elmer Warren of Dardanelle, Mrs. Harvey Nichols of Clarksville, Mrs. Clifford Hunt of McAlester, Okla. and Mrs. Ada Hale of St Jo, La.

George, Flavel

Birta Boy Killed As Tractor Overturns - Flavel George, age 15, a student in Ola High School, was killed near his home at Birta Saturday when the tractor he was driving overturned and pinned him beneath it. George was pulling logs to help rebuild his grandfather's house which was destroyed by fire last Wednesday. As he crossed a gulley, a log he was pulling caught in the ground and the tractor was pulled over backwards.

George, Garry Dale

Garry Dale George, age 51 of Little Rock died Sunday, February 16, 2003 at his home in Little Rock. Mr. George was born July 1, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Cecil Doyle George. He was a retired gardener and landscaper.

He was preceded in death by sister, Wanda Louise George.

Survivors are his mother, Jaunell Rodgers George Neuhart of Ola; three brothers, Joe George of Aurora, Colorado, Sammy George of Plainview, Larry George of Ola; two sisters, Elizabeth Parker of Little Rock and Sharon Jordan of Memphis and several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

George, Georgia E. (McGuran)

Georgia E. George, age 97 of Belleville, passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Dardanelle Nursing & Rehab Center. She was born September 26, 1913 in Danville, Arkansas to the late John Henry and Ethel Myrtle Crochran McGuran. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church and retired after 26 years as an inspector at Wayne Farms.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard George; infant son, Windell Lynn George; son, Leonard Lee George; three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Lyndell and Elaine George of Dardanelle, John and Carol George of Belleville; grandchildren, Kim and Jon Brown of Russellville, Kevin and Shelly George of Benton, John, Jr. and Donna George of Belleville, Teri and Chris Merrill of Dardanelle, Angie Tate of Danville; great- grandchildren, Brandy Bland of Russellville, Carlee Brown of Fayetteville, Joey Brown of Russellville, Brittany Watson of Clarksville, Cole and Caden Tate of Danville, Gage and Zane George of Belleville, Kristen and Aryn Merritt of Dardanelle, Zachery and Jesse George of Benton.

Grace Dean George, age 93, of Dardanelle died Sunday, September 4 at Dardanelle Nursing and Rehab. She was born December 12, 1917 in Casa to the late Arthur Lee and Maggie Rainey Mahan. She was a retired USDA inspector and a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter "Bill" George, a son, John George, brothers, John, Alvin and James Mahan and sisters, Ruth Fitch and Faye Claxton.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Bolin and Wayne of Maumelle; son, Kenny George and Carol of Dardanelle; two step-daughters, Mary Hickerson of Oklahoma and Patsy Duvall of Louisiana; two sisters, Marie Erwin of Perryville; Dessa Eiler of Arizona; a brother, Kenneth Mahan of Illinois; seven grand- children, 10 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grand- children.

Service will be Wednesday, September 7, 2:00 PM at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Bro. Chris George officiating. Burial will be in Mt. George Cemetery. George, Hawk

MR. HAWK GEORGE Uncle Hawk George, aged 90 years, last surviving member of a pioneer Yell County family of fourteen, died Monday, February 20th, 1939, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Vera Thomson, at Tyler, Tex.

The remains were returned to his former home in the Mt. George community where the funeral services, conducted by Rev. H. D. Jackson of Havana, were held Tuesday afternoon. Burial was in the Mt. George Cemetery.

Mr. George had been an honored and respected resident of the Mt. George community of many years, during most of which he had been actively and extensively engaged in farming and livestock raising.

He is survived by three daughters and eight sons. Mrs. Vera Thompson, of Tyler, Tex.; Mrs. Elmer Warren, of Dardanelle; Mrs. Thomas V. Sturdivant, of near Dardanelle; Clarence George, of Mt. George, Thomas George of Stewart, Okla; Ira George, of Muskogea, Okla; Albert George; of Corpus Christi, Tex, James George, of Haileyville, Okla.; and William George of Dardanelle. George, Hazel Marie

Hazel Marie George, age 67 of Dardanelle, died Friday, September 19, 2008 at the River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle. She was born January 26, 1941 in the Ard Community to JD and Lorene Earls Miller.

She was preceded in death by her father and a brother, Lloyd Miller.

Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Garland George; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Paul Foley of Ft. Smith; a son, Joe George of Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, Colorado; two grandsons; her mother, Lorene Miller of Ard; a brother, Kent Miller of Coleman, South Dakota; two sisters, Margaret Edwards and Leora Thaxton both of Ard; several nephews, nieces, family and friends.

Services were held September 23 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Ray Edwards officiating. Burial was held in Mt. George Cemetery. George, Herman Jack

Herman Jack George, age 82 of Ola, left this world to be with the Lord on Friday, April 18, 2003 at his home outside Ola. He was born April 17, 1921 in the Southview Community, Perry County, Arkansas to the late Lilburn Green and Cora Ella Wyatt George. He was a WWII Army veteran, a retired school bus driver for the Ola school district and a former gas station attendant.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Birtie L. George; two brothers, Homer L. George and James Lester George.

Survivors are two brothers, Lloyd S. George of Chinese Camp, California, David R. George of Modesto, California; one sister, Ruby Atwood of Modesto, California; three nephews, Gary George and Darrell George, both of Casa, Jackie George of Benton; a nice, Ella Louise Morrison of Ola and a host of other nephews, nieces and cousins.

Services were Monday, April 21, 2003 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church. Interment was in Birta Cemetery with full military honors by Boyce-Woods VFW Post 3141 in Dardanelle. George, Ira Marlin

Ira Marlin George, age 89, of Birta, died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. The son of Aaron Kimzey and Nancy Sullivan George, he was born on April 7, 1921 in Chickalah. Ira grew up in the Depression era, working hard on the family farm with his brothers and sisters. He joined the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and served as a medical corpsman. He and Monnie Boyce McCoy were married on May 15, 1942 at Birta. Ira worked for many years as a track supervisor for the Rock Island Railroad. He and Monnie were very active in their church for many years, where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed building birdhouses, especially for martins. Ira also loved singing and playing the guitar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Monnie Boyce McCoy George; a son, Flavel Marlin George; brothers, Hayden George, Rufus George, Frank George, and infant brother Aaron George; sisters, Hattie Holbrook, Modean Kimzey, Lyda Rodgers, Verdell Ellison and infant sister Ruth Elizabeth George.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Young & husband John of Birta; a granddaughter Kathy Turner & husband Chad of Birta; two great grandchildren, Ashley and Calee Turner of Birta; a sister, Mary Ann Rodgers of Ola; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral was Saturday, September 4, 2010 at First Baptist Church at Casa with Brother Joe Phillips officiating. Burial was at Birta Cemetery by Humphrey Funeral Service. Irma Maerene George, age 89 of Birta, died Friday, April 22, 2005 at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. She was born July 10, 1915 at Wooster, AR, to the late W. Alexander and Inez Kirkpatrick Williams. She was a lifetime member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Birta.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Rufus A. George; brother Joe Williams, sister Lillian Wolford.

Survivors include 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Dale McCoy of Birta, Barbara and Don McCoy of Birta, Becky and Bob Underwood of Dardanelle, 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Dick and Kay George of Anadarko, OK, Danny and Betty George of Sherwood, and James and LaNelle George of Jackson, GA; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild; a host of family and friends.

Funeral services were held April 25, 2005, at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Birta. Interment was held at Birta Cemetery. George, J. N., Dr.

Dr. J. N. George Died Last Thursday night - Dr. J. N. George, aged 69 years, of Centerville, died shortly before midnight Thursday, November 4th, 1943.

Funeral Services conducted by Reverend Couchman, of Danville, Reverend Patton, of Luxora, and Reverend Holiman, of Ola, were held in the Methodist Church at Centerville Saturday afternoon, friends from all sections of Yell County and from points throughout the State being in attendance. Burial, in charge of the Cornwell Funeral Home, of Dardanelle, was in the Mount George Cemetery.

Dr. George was a native of Yell County, having been born at Alpha on January 3rd, 1875. After finishing his literary education in the schools of the County, he studied medicine and received his M. D. degree from the Medical College in Memphis, Tenn., following which he took a postgraduate course in New York City. Dr. George entered the practice of medicine at Birta, where he continued in the practice of his profession until 1912.

He was extensively interested in farming, livestock and banking, and at the time of his death was one of the largest land-holders in the County. He also took an active interest in politics, being elected County Judge in 1912, which office he filled for two terms. He also served two terms as Sheriff and Collector and two terms as State Senator from this District, then composed of Yell and Logan Counties.

Jack Robertson George, age 36, native of Colgate, Okla. and a resident of Casa, died at his home early Friday afternoon. He was a son of Nick W. and Cora Robertson George, and had lived at Casa most of his life. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

George, Jacob David

Jacob David George, age 32 passed away September 17th, 2014 at his home in Fayetteville, AR. Jacob was a disabled veteran who had served 3 tours as a U.S. Army Special Operations combat engineer with Operation Enduring Freedom. After serving, he returned home and attended the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. Eventually, his passion led him to become a recording artist, songwriter and public speaker promoting peace and supporting veterans. He also founded 'Operation Awareness,' an organization that sponsored 'A Ride to the End' (ARTTE). This was a group of veterans who pledged to ride bicycles across the country raising awareness until the war ends. Jacob was a recipient of the 2011 Arkansas Peace and Justice Heroes Award for his work with ARTTE.

Jacob was born on April 12th, 1982 and is survived by his mother Robin George Mulac of Greenwood, AR, father Jasper George of Birta, AR, brother Jordan George of Fayetteville, sister and brother-in-law Jasmin and Justin McBride, 2 nieces Jaycee and Joslyn McBride all of Greenwood and grandmother Sara Majors formerly of Danville, AR. Jacob was also eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new niece, Hazel Jaye McBride, due in December. A memorial 'celebration of life' reception will be held on Sunday, October 5th, from 11 am - 3 pm at Teatro Scarpino in Fayetteville. George, Jimmy Lee

Jimmy Lee George age 59 of Dardanelle died Thursday, September 17, 2009 at St. Vincent Select Specialty Hospital. He was born February 10, 1950 at Russellville to James Wardlaw and Jewel Judkins George.

He is preceded in death by his father, Jimmy George and one nephew, Casey Lynn George.

Survivors include mother, Jewel Boyce of Dardanelle; three brothers, Ken, Jess and Steve George all of Dardanelle; two nieces, Kelly George of Slidell, LA, Brooke George of Dardanelle; three nephews, Kenneth George, Jr. of Slidell, LA, Dusty George and Jeff George of Dardanelle; one great niece, Hallie George of Dardanelle and many other relatives.

George, John A.

John A. George, age 71, of Little Rock, died Tuesday, November 27, 2007 at John L. McClellan Veterans Hospital. He was born February 10, 1936 at Neely to Walter J. and Grace Dean Mahan George. He was a United State Army Disabled Veteran serving in England as a Medic. He also worked as an Agri Teacher at several high schools around the state, a Job Corp. Instructor at Cass and Hot Springs and a Consultant for the Department of Labor.

He is preceded in death by his father, "Bill" George; wife of 17 years, Kathryn George.

Survivors include his mother, Dean George of Dardanelle; son, Johnny Dale George of Las Vegas, Nevada; daughters and son-in-law, Tina Louise Osborne of Las Vegas, Nevada, Patty Ann and Mark Allen Shockley of Atkins; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Carol George of Dardanelle; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Wayne Bolin of Maumelle; half sisters, Mary Hickerson of Tulsa, OK, Pat DuVall of Shreveport, LA; eight grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 1, 2007, at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with Rev. Peggy Foster officiating. Burial was held in Mt George Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Northwest Arkansas Military Honors Team. Pallbearers were Jeremy Alvarez, Joshua Alvarez, Jonathon David Osborne, Scott George, Dustin Carol Osborne, Jason Keith Osborne, Billy Jack Osborne. Honorary pallbearer: Alex Alvarez. Mrs. Johnnie Tina Foster George, age 89 widow of Jack George died Sunday, March 28th, 1993 at Legacy Lodge Nursing Home in Russellville. She was a native of Centerville, Yell County, Arkansas, daughter of the late John F. and Anna McConnell Foster, a member of the Methodist Church and housewife and mother.

She was preceded in death by two sons Bobby and Franklin George and one daughter, Asilee George.

Kate George, age 98 of Dardanelle, died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at the River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle. Kate was born April 20, 1910 at Centerville, daughter of the late Oscar and Ida Mae "Dollie" Stanley Dunn. She was a mother, homemaker, and a member of the Centerville Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Pete" George; daughter, Ruby Nell Kirk; son-in-law, Tommy Riggins; four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, James H. and Mary George and Bill and Kay George all of Dardanelle; a daughter, Freeda Riggins of Pine Bluff; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.

Funeral services will be held today at 10:00 a. m. at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Brother Don Adkins officiating. Interment will be at Brearley Cemetery under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle. George, Lee

Ola Resident Fatally Wounded -- Lee George, about 33, formerly a resident of Ola, and a star athlete of OHS, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert George of Tyler, Texas, was found dead on the highway near his home in Tyler, July 6. He had received three bullet wounds, probably inflicted a day or two before he was found. The cause for the shooting is unknown at present. The George family moved to Texas about 15 years ago. Mrs. Lena George, aged 88, of Mt. George died Friday, July 16, at a hospital in Danville. She was the widow of Calvin George and a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Fred George of Belleville, Charley George, Theodore and Elton George of Mt. George; one daughter, Mrs. Viola Bailey of Wichita, Kans.; one brother, Jess Frost of Mt. George; Mrs. Ola Dean of Belleville; 26 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
