Ferguson, Kerry

Gravelly Man Is Found Dead -- The body of a Gravelly man, Kerry Ferguson, 38, was found on Monday, July 6, 2009, around 6:00 p. m. in a heavily wooded area near Gravelly. Ferguson was a native of Bluffton. Officers from the Yell County Sheriff s Department and Yell County Mounted Patrol located Fergusons body, which will be submitted to the Arkansas State Medical Examiners Office for determination of cause of death.

Officers had responded to the area to conduct a more thorough search, and located Fergusons body not far from the location where the victims family had found Fergusons vehicle late last week. Fergusons Cadillac was found in a field approximately 1/4 mile from Fergusons residence. Ferguson was reported missing by family members on July 1, 2009. He had last been seen on June 26, 2009. The Sheriff s Department said in a news release that authorities had no reason to suspect foul play at this time. According to Detective Heath Tate of the Yell County CID, 14 persons from the Yell County Sheriff s Department and Yell County Mounted Patrol assisted in the search in the Mulberry Road area approximately one mile from Gravelly. Yell County Deputy Coroner Donna Wells said the body was found face down in a very heavily wooded area about 300 yards east of the car. Deputies secured the scene, and Detectives Heath Tate and Lora Beasley, Crime Scene Specialist for Yell County, worked the area where the body was found. Detective Tate stated that the wooded area was so thick that a trail out had to be cut with chainsaws to remove the body. During the search, Ferguson was described as being 61 tall, approximately 225 lbs. with short brown hair and a goatee. Fergusons body has been sent to Little Rock for an autopsy.

He is survived by his mother, Jerry W.
