Bocksnick, Bruno

Bruno Bocksnick, Jr. age 79 of Dardanelle died Thursday, April 27, 2006 at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was born January 3, 1927 at London to Bruno, Sr. and Pearl Funnell Bocksnick. He was the retired owner of Bocksnick Tree Service.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary Oucrian Bocksnick; two brothers, Louis Bocksnick, Ferdinand Bocksnick; sister, Jewel Hartwick. He was a member of the Gospel Assembly of Russellville.

Survivors include three sons, Michael Bocksnick of Russellville, Thorlee Bocksnick of El Dorado, Jeff Tackett of Russellville; five daughters, Brenda Hoimann of Russellville, Latricia Bennett of Dover, Cynthia Woodalll of Dardanelle, Shelly Moore of Van Buren, Carla Hampton of Dardanelle; a step son, Tracy Breamel of LA; three brothers, Amel (AB) Bocksnick of Russellville; seventeen grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

A memorial service was held on April 30, 2006 at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with Rev. Donald Ritchie officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Hartwick, David Bocksnick, Danny Bocksnick, Larry Bocksnick, Kenneth Bocksnick, Rick Bocksnick, Randy Bocksnick and Jerry Bocksnick. Bocksnick, Edna Kay

Edna Kay Bocksnick, age 63, of Russellville, AR died Thursday, September 6, 2007 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lucille George of Dardanelle. She was born October 23, 1943 in Dardanelle. She attended Dardanelle High School and was a member of the Fair Park Baptist Church in Russellville.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Louise Turnbow.

She is survived by her beloved companion Robert Bocksnick of Russellville, AR; daughter, Kim and Steve Ross and daughter Ashley; a son, Shawn Bocksnick, all of Russellville; four sisters, Tina Bishop of Escondido, CA, Mary and Ken Quinn of Spokane, WA, Tish and Joe Reynolds of Little Rock, AR and Sarah and Gene Hart of Hot Springs, AR; brother Donnie and Carolyn George of Little Rock, AR, also several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service was held September 10, 2007 at the Fair Park Baptist Church in Russellville with Steve Williams and Darrell Ray officiating with a private graveside service. Russellville - November 20 - Frank Boggess, 34, of Plainview, died today at a hospital in Little Rock.

Boggs, Billy

Billy Boggs 74, of Ola, died following a hard fight and courageous battle with cancer over the past two and one half years and went home to be with his heavenly family on April 20, 2006. He was born on May 16, 1931 in Little Rock and was adopted at the age of six months by Louis Boggs. He was a 1948 graduate of Ola High School and worked for 33 years for the Rock Island Railroad as station master in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. He retired in 1979. He married Alma Lea Woodring in 1997 and they had 9 wonderful years together. He was a member of the Ola United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years Maxine Boggs; a granddaughter, Robin Alfaro; a son-in-law, William Swicegood; and two very special aunts, Bessie Boggs and Celia Boggs.

Survivors include his wife, Alma Lea Boggs of Ola; three children, Brenda Jean Swicegood of Ola, Linda Sue Higgins husband Kenneth of Russellville, Edwin Lee Boggs wife, Judy of Plainview; five grandchildren, Bobby Ray Swicegood wife Kerrye of Russellville, William Jackson Boggs of Reston, Virginia, Martha Elizabeth Black husband Jeff of Ola, Joshua Allen Higgins of Russellville, Jacob Aaron Higgins of Russellville; three great grandchildren; grandson- in-law, Mark Alfaro of Russellville; four step grandchildren, Danette Atwood of Russellville, Kyla Reynolds of Clarksville, Toad Higgins of Garfield, Jason Higgins of Lamar; ten step great grandchildren and a step great-great grandchild.

Judy Ellen Boggs, age 58, of Ola, died Sunday, December 20, 2015, at River Valley Medical Center in Dardanelle. She was born July 27, 1957, at Plainview to the late Hubert "Buddy" and Martha Mae Mitchell Crites. She was a member of the Ola Free Will Baptist Church, a home maker and an avid scrapbooker. She loved spending time with her family and encouraging others.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jackie Crites; sister-in- law, Susie Crites; mother and father-in-law, Bill and Maxine Boggs.

Survivors include her husband, Eddie Boggs of Ola; two children, William "Billy" Boggs (Alicia) of Ft. Worth, Texas, Martha Black (Jeff) of Ola; two brothers, James Crites of the Gilkey Community, Jeff Crites (Teresa) of Greenbrier; sister-in-law, Joyce Crites of the Gilkey Community; grandchildren, Caroline Boggs and Isaiah Black.

Harold "Red" Bolden, age 79 of Dardanelle, died Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at the Dardanelle Hospital. Mr. Bolden was born November 25, 1923 in Delaware to the late James Earl and Mamie Reece Bolden. He was the owner of Delta Oil Company for 35 years before his retirement.

Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Bobbie Scoles Bolden; one daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Robert Laming of Centerville; two grandchildren, James Anders of Ashboro, North Carolina, Vicky Slaughter of Centerville and two great-grandchildren.

Vivian May Bolen, age 90 years, died at her sons residence in Tow, TX on November 8, 2009. Born in Paris, Texas, daughter of Lloyd and Blanche Holmes Wadford on October 22, 1919. She had lived in Arkansas prior to moving to Texas. She enjoyed quilting, playing bingo and cards.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Son, Daughter, Grandchildren, Brother and Sister.

Boles, Catherine Keith

MRS. CATHERINE KEITH BOLES BURIED HERE - The remains of Mrs. Catherine Keith Boles, widow of the late Judge Thomas Boles, for many years a prominent resident of this city, were intered in Brearley Cemetery here last Sunday afternoon following a brief funeral service at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. A. Johnston. Mrs. Boles was a woman of rare character, and is lovingly recalled by many of our older citizens.

The following tribute to her memory appeared in the Fort Smith Southwest American of December 5th. Mrs. Catherine Keith Boles, 1219 North G. Street, 80 years old, one of Fort Smith's most widely known club women, philanthropists and church workers, died Wednesday night, Dec. 4th, 1924, at 11:30 o'clock at a local hospital. Mrs. Boles was the widow of the late Judge Thomas Boles. Although suffering from heart trouble for more than a year, Mrs. Boles was not considered in a serious condition until a month ago. On Monday, she was removed to a Fort Smith hospital.

Mrs. Boles was a native of Scotland, born in 1844 in Stronsey, Orkney Islands, Wick Caithness county, Scotland. She came with her parents, Captain Robert Keith and Christina Giddeo Keith to Fountain City, Wis., when she was but eight years old. Later she was graduated from the Galisburg University in Wisconsin. She came to Arkansas in 1870, accompanied by a former teacher, and established the Dardanelle Seminary. Catherine Frances Keith was married February 5, 1874 to Judge Boles who was then a republican member of Congress. He was prominent in affairs of the state and served as judge of this district for a number of years. He served three terms in the National House of Representatives. A charter member and president of the Fortnightly Library association and principle organizer of the association, she obtained the first appropriation for the establishment of the Carnegie Library. Mrs. Boles had the honor of breaking the ground for the library building. She was also prominent in club and church activities. She was, for more than 50 years a member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, a member of the First Presbyterian church; Thomas Boles Circle Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic and of the Delphian society.

Funeral services for Mrs. Boles will be held Saturday at 10:30 o'clock from the First Presbyterian church. Dr. Malcolm McKay, of Atlanta, Ga., former pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Fort Smith, will officiate. The body will be taken to Dardanelle for burial. Mrs. Boles is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Benjamin A. Morton, of New York City, who came Wednesday in response to a message announcing her mother's illness; Mrs. Fred G. Speer and Miss Flora A. Mrs. Boles and her daughter, Margaret, are in Fort Smith. Mr. Boles was unable to reach Fort Smith in time for the funeral. Mrs. Christina Albertson, of Chicago, a sister, and Captain Daniel E. Boles, George Henry

ODESSA -- George Henry Boles, 78, of Odessa, died Sunday, May 9 [2004].

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today, May 13 at Resthaven Memorial Park in Midland with the Rev. Johnny Thomason officiating. He was born July 9, 1925 to Clyde Boles and Viola Boles in Carbon. He graduated from Carbon High School in 1943 and married Joyce Payne June 7, 1944.

She preceded him in death. He moved to Odessa in 1955 and worked as the manager of Continental-Emsco, which later became LTV. He retired in 1992 and became a sales and management consultant for independent companies. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge #1385. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and a sister.

He is survived by a daughter, Nancy, of Odessa; a son, Rick, of Odessa; one grandson; and a brother, James Boles of Levelland. Memorials may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Boles, Gorden

Gorden Boles, Age 88, of Dardanelle, AR died Tuesday, February 14, 1995 at the Dardanelle Hospital. He was the eldest son of the late Seth and Gordie Albright Boles and was born in Bluffton, AR on March 23, 1906. A lifetime resident of Dardanelle, he has spent his last four years as a resident of the Yell County Nursing Home in Ola. A retired employee of the U. S. Postal Service, he was instrumental in the development of the poultry industry in the Arkansas River Valley. As a private businessman, he owned and operated Southern Poultry Service and Mutual Sales Association until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dardanelle, a Rotarian and a Mason. As a young man he attended the University of Arkansas where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Paternity.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Elizabeth Polly Boles.

He is survived by a son, John Gorden Boles of Sherwood; a daughter, Sylvia Ann (Boles) Hays of Mt. Pleasant, MI; two brothers, J. Keith Boles of Monterrey, CA and Neil J. Boles of Ft. Smith, AR; two sisters, Kittle Baker of Russellville and Nina Hunt of Dardanelle; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Services were February 19 at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle with Rev. Bennie Harmon officiating. Interment was in Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service of Dardanelle. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Dardanelle. Boles, John Graham

Anchorage resident John Graham Boles, 50, died May 27 at Alaska Regional Hospital. A memorial Mass was at Holy Family Cathedral with the Rev. Bede Wilkes officiating.

Burial followed at Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation was held at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, downtown. Mr. Boles was born March 29, 1943, in Antioch, Calif. He grew up in Colusa, Calif., and received extensive experience and training in oil-field exploration and production. He drilled throughout Alaska, Madagascar, Sumatra and Borneo. Mr. Boles moved to Alaska in 1966. He began gold mining and prospecting in 1973, mostly placer mining and most recently, hard-rock mining, with his brothers and mother. He co-owned and operated the family mines in the 40-mile mining district of the Interior. There, he met Barbara Purdy and they were married October 10, 1981, in Reno, Nev. Mr. Boles enjoyed loving his family, being a father, and walking the mountaintops with a sense of discovery, according to his family.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, son, Graham; daughters, Catherine and Jenny, and mother, Josephine, all of Anchorage; three brothers, Andre of Reno, and Joseph and Peter of Anchorage; one sister, Judy Givot of Anchorage; his nephew, Richard Givot; and many nieces. Boles, John Keith

John passed away peacefully the morning of March 9 at the age of 89 with his wife and a daughter by his side. John was born in Dardenelle, Arkansas.

He is preceded in death by his three brothers, Seth, Gordon, and Neil.

He is survived by his twin sister Kittie, and sister Nina who live in Arkansas. He joined the Navy in 1934. He spent many of his 32 years at sea, in the Pacific Fleet. On December 7, 1941 John was on the Island of Tutuila working as a radioman when he received word Pearl Harbor was under attack. His base was shelled by an enemy submarine just a short time later. In 1958 he was assigned as an instructor of communications at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, where he worked until his retirement in 1964. He was an avid golfer up until last year, at his beloved Monterey Pines Golf Course. Among his many talents, he was an actor, singer, musician, and ham radioman. John is survived by Effie, his wife of 59 yrs, his sons, John, Mike and Seth, his daughters, Mary K, Jean, Anna and Brenda, all of whom reside in the Central California area. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. One of his favorite sayings and a sweet ending to the story of his life, was 'May the Good Lord Bless and Keep You, and hold you in the palm of His hand'. Good Bye to Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Greatgrandpa and friend to many! A mass will be held at 10am Sat. March 19, at the Chapel of Ave Maria Convalescent Hospital, 1249 Josselyn Canyon Rd. Monterey. Boles, Mary Virginia (Stuart)

Virginia S. Boles, 83, a former member of the Stanford University math department for 40 years, died yesterday at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City. Mrs. Boles was the wife of Robert Boles of Redwood City and had been a resident of the area for 47 years. She was a 1911 graduate of Stanford and a member of Phi Beta Kappa. She was the mother of Robert S. Boles of Redwood City. Mrs. Betty Salisbury of Palo Alto, Edwin L. Boles of Long Beach and Mrs. Barbara Pyne of Phoenix, Ariz. She was the grandmother of 10 and the sister of Mrs. Winifred Stuart of Grass Valley. She was a native of Los Angeles.

Funeral services are planned Monday at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Roller & Hapgood, 980 Middlefield Road, Palo Alto. Interment will be at Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto. Boles, Robert Andrew

Funeral services were held today for Robert A. Boles, who had lived at 260 Fulton Ave., Redwood City, for 48 years. He was found in his car Friday morning at the Southern Pacific parking lot in Redwood City. The San Mateo County Coroner's office said he died of a heart attack.

Interment in Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto, followed this afternoon's services at Roller and Hapgood mortuary, Palo Alto. Boles was 70 when he retired as a civil engineer. A daughter, Mrs. Betty Salisbury, of Palo Alto, said her father "worked up through the ranks" to become an engineer. He worked on many Peninsula construction projects and at one time worked on projects for the U.S. National Park Service. Boles also worked on Guam for awhile after World War II.

Other survivors include two sons, Robert S. Boles of San Jose and Edwin L. Boles of Long Beach; another daughter, Mrs. Barbara Pyne of Phoenix, Ariz., a sister and 10 grandchildren. DARDANELLE - Sarah Elizabeth "Polly Boles, age 73, died November 25, 1980 in a Little Rock hospital. She was born November 24, 1907, at Ola, Ark., to Arthur W. and Georgia Taylor. Mrs. Taylor passed away when Polly was 2 years old and was reared by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Millner, and her aunt, Miss Adele Millner. Mrs. Boles had been an active member of the Christian Church both at Ola and Dardanelle and was instrumental in the organization of the Dardanelle Band Mothers and served as their first president. Efforts of the band mothers led to the purchase of the first uniforms for the Dardanelle band.

She is survived by her husband, Gorden Boles; one son, John Gorden Boles, Sherwood; one daughter, Sylvia Ann Hayes, Mount Pleasant, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. E. H. Frazier, Dardanelle; an aunt, Miss Adele Millner, Ola; eight grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and one great grandson.

Funeral services were at 2 p. m. November 28 at Cornwell Chapel with the Rev. J. Hillman Byram officiating. Burial was at Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service. Pallbearers were M. M Croom, R. E. Warren, Fay Simmons, Carl Jaggers, Kevin Caughman and Gilbert Cornwell. Honorary bearers were Jess Keener, Everett Callan, David Croom, A J. Croom, Walter Miller, D. O. Boles, Seth

Mr. Seth Boles, age 93 years, died Wednesday, August 8, 1951, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Rankin Baker, in Russellville. Mr. Boles was born at Bluffton in the southwest part of Yell County, but for the past half-century had resided in Dardanelle. As a young man he taught in the schools of Yell County. From 1872 to 1876 he was deputy U. S. Marshal for the Western District of Arkansas, serving largely in the old Indian Territory. At that time the Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) harbored many of the Old West's outlaws and, desperadoes, and Marshal Boles had a part in the arrest of many of the desperate characters that terrorized the Arkansas-Indian Territory border. Later Mr. Boles engaged entensively in farming and stock raising. He help to organize and for years served as President of the old First National Bank of Dardanelle. Under the Hoover administration he served as Postmaster of Dardanelle. He was a life-long member of the Methodist Church. Mr. Boles is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Charles Hunt, of Dardanelle, and Mrs. Rankin Baker, of Russellville, with whom for the past few months he had made his home; four sons, Gorden Boles, 01 Dardanelle, Seth Boles, Jr. of England, Keith Boles, of the Navy at Norfolk, Va. and Neil Boles, of Fort Smith, and 11 grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10:00 a. m. Friday at the Methodist Church here by Rev. Ray McLester, Pastor, and Rev. M. O. Cockerham, Pastor of the Presbyterian Church.
