Ballinger, Willie Alvin

Willie Alvin Ballinger, age 76, of Danville died Wednesday, January 2, 1985, at Yell County Nursing Home at Ola. He was a retired carpenter and farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Laura Garner Ballinger; three sons, Raymond Ballinger of Danville, James Ballinger of Freeport, Texas and Larry Ballinger of Santa Fe, Texas; two daughters, Mary DeLay of Friendswood, Texas and Dorothy Richardson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a. m. Friday at Cornwell Chapel at Dardanelle. Burial will be in Dacus Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service. Mrs. Dora Balloun, 72, of Dardanelle, died Saturday in a Joplin, Mo. Hospital. She was a native of Austria and a Methodist. She was the widow of Joe Balloun.

Survivors include a son, Jack Balloun of Dardanelle; four daughters, Mrs. Katie Mae Stull of Grand Junction, Colo.; Mrs. Lillian Smith of Kansas, Mrs. Fred Hedges of Russell, Kans., and Mrs. Mary Ellen Adams of Phoenix, Ariz.; two brothers, Joe Larch of Dardanelle, and Johnny Larch of Memphis. Balloun, Frances Amelia

Frances Amelia Balloun, 85, of Dardanelle died Saturday, May 29, 2004 at Doctor's Hospital in Little Rock. Born December 18, 1918, at Dardanelle to the late Joe and Elevenia Beran Klober, she was a homemaker, a member of Saint Augustine's Catholic Church, and the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Balloun.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Bud Broaddrick of Little Rock, a sister, Lillie Ann Wilson of Magnolia; two grandchildren, Diane Broaddrick and Danny Broaddrick, both of Little Rock; three great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Funeral was held June 1, 2004 at the Saint Augustine's Catholic Church at Dardanelle with Father Vince officiating. Burial was followed at Brearley Cemetery. DARDANELLE - Henry Louis Balloun, age 77, of Dardanelle died Wednesday, September 4, 1985. He was a retired farmer, son of the late Frank J. and Cina Wesley Balloun, and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Josephine Pfeifer Balloun; a son, Irvin Balloun of Dardanelle; a daughter, Mrs. Lillie Jo Fugatt of Dardanelle; two brothers, Frank and Hugh Balloun of Dardanelle; a sister, Lillie Vodrazka of Dardanelle, and four grandchildren.

Balloun, Hugh Edward

Hugh Edward Balloun, age 80, of Dardanelle, AR died Thursday, September 6, 2001 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was a retired employee of Arkansas Tech University, served 30 years in the U. S. Army and Arkansas National Guard, a lifetime member of VFW Post 3141, a long time volunteer of Meals on Wheels and a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was born March 25, 1921 in Dardanelle to the late Cina Wesley and Frank M. Balloun.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Henry, Frank and Tony Balloun.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Martha Kate Montgomery Balloun of Dardanelle; two sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn and Sharon Balloun and Don and Yvonne Balloun both of Dardanelle, AR; four grandchildren, Derek, Teresa, Laura and Samuel Balloun; a sister, Lillian Vodrazka and many nieces and nephews.

Services were Saturday at the 1st United Methodist Church in Dardanelle with the Rev. Floyd Ervin officiating. Burial with military honors were at Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service of Dardanelle, AR. Pallbearers were Bobby, Steve and Irvin Balloun, Tom and Charles Sullivan and Jeff Montgomery. Honorary were surviving member of the Aleutian Islands Campaign of WWII-ANG 153 infantry Service and the men of VFW Post 3141 Dardanelle, AR. Mr. Jack B. Balloun, age 76, of Dardanelle, AR died Tuesday, November 11, 1997 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center. He was a member of the Methodist Church, a retired security guard with Burn Security. He was born November 19, 1920 in Dardanelle to the late Joe and Dora Larch Balloun. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Balloun of Dardanelle; a son, Dan Balloun of Dardanelle; a daughter, Beverly Rambo of New Orleans, LA; a sister, Lillian Smith of Hiawatha, KS; three grandchildren, Dan Alan Balloun II of Dardanelle, Justin Rambo and Rex Clay Rambo both of New Orleans, LA; two great-grandchildren, Renee Ryan Lee Rambo both of New Orleans, LA.

Josephine Balloun, age 97, of Dardanelle died Friday, July 14, 2006 at Dardanelle Nursing Center. She was born November 25, 1908 at Dardanelle to the late Mack and Annie Brabec Pfeifer.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Balloun; two sisters, a brother and daughter-in-law, Sharon Balloun.

Balloun, Kate Montgomery

Kate Montgomery Balloun, 86 of Dardanelle, died Monday, April 6, 2009 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. She was born May 28, 1922 at Briggsville to the late William Jefferson and Eva Bell Castleberry Montgomery. She worked as the Yell County Deputy Tax Assessor for 20 years. She was a member of the Womens Auxiliary of VFW, United Methodist Women, United Methodist Church, and Meals on Wheels.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hugh Balloun; sister, Erma Montgomery; brother, Fred Balloun.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Lynn and Sharon Balloun of Dardanelle, Don and Yvonne Balloun of St. Augustine, FL; four grandchildren, Teresa Balloun, Laura Conover, Derek and Sam Balloun; sister, Reba Mathis of Riverside, CA; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Lillie Vodrazka.

Balloun, Sharon Kaye

Sharon Kaye Balloun, age 58, of Dardanelle, AR died Saturday, February 14, 2004 at her home. She was born June 18, 1945 in Russellville, AR to the late Hazel and Bessie Sturdivant Greene. She was a member of the Dardanelle Church of Christ and worked for WalMart in Dardanelle as a department manager for 15 years.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Greene, Robbie Partain and Linda Southard.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Irvin Balloun; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Jimmy Marple of Dardanelle; sister and brother-in-law, Joy and Jim Wood of Dardanelle; Kay la & Shayna Marple of Dardanelle and Malorie & Sidney Millner of Ft. Bliss, TX.

Service was February 16, 2004 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle, AR with Bro. Ralph Weinhold officiating. Interment was in Brearley Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle. Pallbearers were George Brown, Stan Huels, Chris Hughes, Dustin Southard, Doug Shepard, and Chip Wolfe. Honorary was staff and employees of Wal-Mart of Dardanelle and the Dardanelle class of 1963. Frankie Jean Briggs Baltz, age 86, of North Little Rock, died Sunday, February 26, 2012 at her home. She was born May 10, 1925 in Briggsville, AR. After graduating from Draughan's School of Business, Frankie married George E. (Jack) Baltz on August 19, 1950. They were married for 59 years. She worked for International Harvester Company for 18 years and for Frank Lyon Company for 31 years, making lifelong friends during this time.

Frankie was preceded in death by her husband, George E. (Jack) Baltz; her parents, James Patrick "Budger" and Bertha Buford Briggs; one brother, J.B. Briggs.

She is survived by one brother, O.L. Briggs of Briggsville, AR; and a number of nieces and nephews. Frankie touched the lives of all who knew her with her smile, charm and wit, and maintained her sense of humor throughout her entire life. She was a joy to be near and will be truly missed.

Baltz, George Edward Jack

George Edward Jack Baltz, age 81, of North Little Rock passed away on Friday, September 18th, 2009. Jack was born on February 5th, 1928 in Springfield, Missouri to the late Al and Pearl (Krebs) Baltz. He worked for over 40 years as a salesman for International Harvester/Navistar. Jack enjoyed years of hunting and fishing in the states and in Canada. He was very sports minded and an avid Razorback fan. A veteran of World War II, he attended Immaculate Conception Church in North Little Rock.

Jack is survived by the love of his life, Frankie Briggs Baltz whom he wed on August 19, 1950 and spent over 59 wonderful years together. He is also survived by his brother, Lawrence (Jeanie Ann) Baltz of Pocahontas and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family, all who will miss him dearly. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Mary Lou Aynes, Virginia Bennett and Carol Sue Smith and his brothers Robert Bob Baltz, Dennis Baltz and Kenneth Baltz. and his in-laws, Budger and Bertha Briggs of Briggsville.

Banks, Charlie

Charlie Banks, age 52 of Dardanelle, AR died Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at the Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock, AR. The son of Ben and Cora Ella (Nordin) Banks, he was born September 22, 1951 in Russellville, AR. He was a graduate of Arkansas Tech University with a degree in Geology. He was a United States Marine Veteran of the Vietnam War and attended the Mt. Carmel Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ben Banks and his grandparents.

Survivors include his mother, Cora Banks of Dardanelle, AR; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert Wayne & Linda Banks of Dardanelle; a nephew; great niece nephew; several aunts and uncles.

DARDANELLE - Mrs. Grace Bray Banks, age 88, of Dardanelle died Saturday, August 11, 1984 at Legacy Lodge Nursing Home at Russellville. She was the widow of Hardy A. Banks and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Robert and Wayne Banks of Dardanelle; a daughter, Geneva Walker of Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers, Leonard Bray of Pico Rivera, Calif. and Roy Bray of Dardanelle; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Banks, Lorraine (Waid)

Lorraine Waid Banks died Sunday, December 9, 2012 in Vicksburg, MS at age 93. Preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Vernon Banks of Fort Smith, Ark., she was the daughter of Eli Waid and Virgie Boggs Waid of Yell County Arkansas.

Her sisters, Lucille Looper and Geraldine Humphrey of Russellville also preceded her in death. Lorraine was born June 12, 1919 at Boggs Mills and was valedictorian of her Danville High School class. She lived in Dardanelle, Russellville, North Little Rock, Sheridan and Fort Smith before her move three years ago to Vicksburg. She was a founder of Grace Baptist Church in Russellville and was a member of Central Baptist Church in Fort Smith. A member of the Colonial Garden Club, she was president of the Cavanaugh Extension Homemakers Club and president of the Sebastian County Extension Homemakers. Lorraine was also active with the Good Samaritan Auxiliary that benefits the Stepping Stone School in Alma, Ark. She is survived by a son, Don C. Banks, PhD, of Vicksburg and a daughter, Jerry Banks Williams of Nashville, Tenn.

Survivors also include three grandchildren, Kelle Banks Barfield of Vicksburg, Eric Banks of Brooklyn, N.Y, and Greg Banks of Liberty Township, Ohio, and eight grandchildren, Arthur, Allie and Waid Barfield as well as Brayden, Hall, Katherine, John and Margaret Ann Banks. Two nieces, Kay McDaniels of Baton Rouge, La., and Paula Ronaghi of Little Rock, a nephew, Kent Humphrey of Russellville and a step grandson, Kenneth Sharp of Vicksburg, also survive.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 15 at Central Baptist Church, 3631 Jenny Lind Road, Fort Smith, Ark. 72901. The family will receive friends at 9 a.m., one hour prior to the funeral services, and immediately afterwards in the church's Family Center. Interment will be at New Hope Cemetery near Dardanelle at 2 p.m. that afternoon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Auxiliary at Central Baptist Church. SALISBURY, N.C. - Lowell Lesley Banks, 61, China Grove, N.C., died October 16 at the V.A. Medical Center, Salisbury, N.C. Banks was born September 1920 in Yell County, Ark. He was the son of the late Mrs. Norma Weems Banks, a veteran of World War II and a member of the Memorial Baptist Church, China Grove.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Rose Virginia Banks; two sons, Lowell Leon Banks, China Grove, and M.C. Just at the hour of publication, the Post-Dispatch learns of the death of Mrs. M. A. Banks, aged 89 years, which occurred at her home four miles west of Dardanelle at 4:00 o'clock this morning. She had been in ill health for a long time.

Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Patton and Rev. Binghaman, will be held at New Hope tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, burial being in the New Hope Cemetery. Mrs.

Olive E. Banks, 83, of Danville died Saturday, August 28, 2004 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville. Born November 15, 1920 at Saint Charles, MO, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret Burckhardt Brinkman, and a member of First Baptist Church at Centerville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Banks; a brother, Elbert Brinkman; and a sister, Charolee Schmidt.

Survivors include a daughter, Donna Robbins of Centerville; a brother, Floyd Brinkman of Saint Charles, MO; and eight grandchildren.

Banks, Ruby Lee (Eidson)

Mrs. Ruby Lee Eidson Banks, age 91, of Dardanelle, died Monday November 2. She was a housewife and a member of the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Anna Lee Freeman of Dardanelle; Lois Ree Mahoney of Arlington, Tex., one sister, Owga Jones of Dardanelle; several step-granchildren, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.

Services were held Wednesday November 4 at 2:00 p.m. at the Dardanelle First Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Bishop and the Rev. Kenny Louman officiating. Interment was in New Hope Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service. Pallbearers were Frank Johnston, Pete Tilmon, Orval Lee Brown, Neal Geurian, Ray Aday and Everett Pelt. FORT SMITH - Ruby Lucille Landers Banks, 84, Fort Smith, formerly of Dardanelle, died September 19 at Sparks Hospital, Fort Smith.

Survivors include a son, Vernon Banks, Fort Smith; two sisters, Mrs. Vernon Boling and Mrs. Norman McGuire, Dardanelle; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were September 21 at the Cornwell Funeral Chapel, Dardanelle, with the Rev. Glen Kauffman and the Rev. Harold Holland officiating. Interment was in the New Hope cemetery, near Dardanelle. Services were by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle. Theresa Lolita Banks, 51, of Havana, Arkansas, passed from this life on Wednesday, July 29, 2015, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born June 28, 1964, in Fort Smith to Lonnie and Patsy Jerden Russell. She was a caregiver and was of the Baptist faith. She loved being outdoors and fishing and spending time with her family and grandkids.

Valentine Merritt Banks, 91, Dardanelle, died Tuesday, July 24, at Dardanelle Hospital. He was a retired contractor and carpenter, son of the late Merritt and Patty Dyer Banks and was a long-time member and deacon of the Dardanelle First Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Norma Weems Banks.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruby McCorkle Banks; five sons, Dana Banks, McKinney, Texas, Arthur Lee Banks, Nacogdoches, Texas, Lindle Banks, Fort Smith, Lowell Banks, China Grove, N.C., and Louie Banks, Carlsbad, N.M.; five daughters, Mrs. Rebecca Sue Breashears, Ozark, Mrs. Margaret Ann Pratt, Carlsbad, N.M., Mrs. Fay Myers, North Little Rock, Mrs. Mildred Gooch, Dardanelle, and Mrs. Selma Choate, Belleville; a sister, Miss Nina Banks, Dardanelle; 30 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Funeral was at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church by the Rev. Tony Berry. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery by Cornwell Funeral Service. Walter "Preacher" Banks, age 92, of Dardanelle died Tuesday, November 4, 1980 at Veterans Hospital at Litele Rock. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mattie Banks; a brother, Luther Banks of Dardanelle, and several nephews and nieces.

Banks, William Howard

William Howard Banks, age 78, of Dardanelle, AR. died Saturday, June 13, 1998 at the Heart Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was born April 14, 1920 in Moss Creek, Yell County, AR to the late Harry and Etta Ingram Banks. He was a retired electrical inspector for McDonald-Douglas Corporation and a WWII Navy Veteran.

Survivors are his wife, Olive E. Brinkman Banks; a son, William D. Banks of Kansas City, KS; two daughters, Sharon Graham of Sanford, FL and Donna Robbins of Belleville, AR; a niece, Jan Fero of Sandford, FL; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Service was Sunday, June 14, 1998 at Cornwell Chapel, Dardanelle, AR with Rev. Ed Larue officiating.

Banning, A. C.

A.C. Banning, 83, of Charleston, AR passed away Sunday, January 12, 2014 in Fort Smith, AR. He was born April 15, 1930, in Cecil, AR to Alec Banning and Vera Pippin Banning; he was a member of Northside Baptist Church, a retired coal miner and member of the United Mine Workers Association and a retired farmer.

He is preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Jim.

Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 16th at Northside Baptist Church with interment at Garden of Memories, under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston.

He is survived by two daughters, Connie Gragg of RusselIville, AR and Shelly Banning-Tippin, MD and her husband Philip Tippin, MD of Dardanelle, AR; one sister Phyllis Lemmons, of Fort Smith, AR; Freeda Banning, mother of his youngest daughter; grandchildren Tony Gragg, of Dardanelle; Taylor Michelle Tippin, of Dardanelle and Alex Tippin of Dardanelle. Barber, Richard Vernon

Richard Vernon Barber, 79, of Russellville, died Sunday, February 13, 2011, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born April 1, 1931, at Dell, Arkansas to Burnie Calvin and Audra Mae Garrett Barber. He was a retired security guard for Arkansas Tech University, a U. S. Air Force veteran, was a Mason for many years and was a Baptist. He enjoyed wood-working.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Melissa Gail Barber; three brothers, Joe Barber, J. C. Barber, and Dennis Barber; four sisters, Flora Brock, Ruth McClanahan, Grant Varnes and Bertie Staples; and a granddaughter, Stacey Barber.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline Sheets Shockley Barber; a son and his wife, David and Debbie Barber of Dardanelle; two daughters and their husbands, Kay and Johnny Keys of Dardanelle, and Peggy Sue and Larry Underwood of Pottsville; a step-son and his wife, Brent and Tracey Shockley of Houston, Texas; four step- daughters and their husbands, Lina and Bobby Ramey of Danville, Janie and Joe Jirinec of Russellville, Hazel Leslie of Little Rock and Nancy and Jeff Holm of Grand Forks, N.D.; a sister and her husband, Rose and James Bissell of Nashville; 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, 8 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren.

Mr. Charles Mack Barclay, age 81, of Ola, died Thursday afternoon August 22, 1968, at a Yell County Hospital. Mr. Barclay was a retired farmer. He was a son of the late John and Frances Barclay. Mr. Barclay was a member of the Ola Church of Christ.

Survivors include one son, Charles E. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a brother, C. J. Barclay.

Survivors include his wife, Diane Barclay; a son, Earnie Barclay of San Diego, CA; a daughter and son-in-law, Shawna and Michael Reaves of Vilonia; his mother, Mamie Barclay of Ola; a brother, Rickey Barclay of Centerville; three grandchildren, Dallas Minnie of London, Cody McKinney and Mickey Reaves, both of Vilonia.

Memorial service was held on Monday, December 27, 2004 at the Ola First Baptist Church by Rev. Rick Balentine. Burial in the Ola-Sandlin Cemetery was held in private.
